This is a reassuringly robust harness. Looking at the size guide, the guidance on harness size for weight of dog shows a large overlap between small and medium. We bought the medium harness. It fitted but the underneath pad came right up to our dogs chin when she was lying down in the car, making it uncomfortable. We decided to buy the small harness to use until the dog fits into the medium one. This is MUCH smaller than the medium harness. It barely fits our dog. I think the design of the harness and its sizing are poor even though its construction is sturdy.0114lecturer

I bought the small harness for my excitable 2 year old cockapoo. The product was very easy to put on him, and it appeared to make him feel more secure during the car journey. The only problem I have encountered is with regards to the removing of the harness over his head due to the neck size. A logistical approach is required by ensuring his ears are through before pulling the harness over his head. Otherwise, it is a good fit, and keeps him safe.Mitch
This is a really cute toy, and our 12-week-old puppy loved it! The problem is, however, that she was able to detach little hunks of the loofah material from the center of the starfish within just a few sessions. The label warns of this, so we watched and threw away the chunks . . . and ultimately the whole toy before she could swallow anything. Maybe a much younger puppy would do better? But swallowing pieces would be even more dangerous for a very young puppy! Too bad this happens! A great idea that needs to be a bit more sturdy.Ronni S
I purchased this for my sister in laws Westie. We are having to take her out in the car at the moment and wanted her to be safe and secure on the back seat.I measured the dog before purchase and although the chest area was a perfect size, her head would not go through the neck part, which is fixed. I needed a replacement the next day of a larger size. This was not possible from yourselves and I had to buy from another company.This was a tiny bit loose, but very secure in the car. The dog was still able to look through the window when she wanted. I believe it would be worth showing the size of the neck loop, people could then judge if this would fit over their dogs head.I was very impressed by Petplanet delivery and their price. The small sized harness has been gifted to another person with a smaller dog, they are very happy with the product. The other thing to mention, is ease of putting the harness on. No having to fight the dog to put it on. Just loop over the head and then fasten the straps across the dogs back. The harness then fixed into the seat belt holder. This is a very good harness to buy, as long as you have correct measurements.

The quality is definitely worth the price. However, I have a French Bulldog with a big neck. It is very hard to get the right size. I had to order two and one does not fit because the neck section is NOT adjustable. The other one is way too big overall. This car harness is easy to get on and off of my dog and attach to/ detach from my SUV. It feels comfortable to me, and so far my dog has seemed perfectly at ease wearing it. I have a 6 month old Irish Wolfhound, so he still has a lot of growing to do. The harness is easy to adjust (both on and off him) and there seems to be enough room for when my dog is fully grown – though only time will tell! I do wish the tether was a little longer. My dog can sit and lay down, but once he grows another inch or two he won't be able to sit with it on and strapped in, so I will have to buy the extension for itlinnabean13
This harness is a well padded nice harness but it has one serious flaw. The strap that goes across the chest continues on down and around the waist. My 31 lb Boykin Spaniel is a puller and he is out of it in no time flat. Two short trips around town resulted in him getting it off his chest and only around his middle the first trip to totally out of it the second trip. The strap material makes it super easy for it to slide when the dog pulls. I gave it 4 stars because the tether is absolutely the best. It might also work on other harnesses but my guy even got out of his Halti harness yesterday during a 3rd ride. I am going to purchase industrial strength Velcro and see if I can do something with the Bergan harness because the concept is good. It is a nice harness IF you don't have a puller. I just received my harness and am very impressed with the quality of the materials and the construction! I fitted the harness to the dogs and can't imagine that they would be able to escape from this harness – I have had that happen with other harnesses. They feel very comfortable with the harness and it should be easy to hook them in the car. Trying to get the seat belt itself through other harnesses was a major project with two big dogs. Will write another review when I actually use them in the car! This harness is very adjustable and my dogs according to weight needed the large but I was surprised to see that they also fit in the medium. I have been trying to find something to keep my sweet pup in the back seat for years, but everything I bought him he ended up either wiggling out of, or somehow getting stuck/hurt/tangled in. This is SO simple, and clicks right into the seatbelt, and hooks right onto the harness he's already wearing (which is the only harness that fits his little oddly shaped body). Really love this seat belt. It took a bit to get it adjusted correctly and adjusting it is kind of a pain in the ass, but that one time hassle is no big deal for the safety of my dog and family. My dog is a 50 lb pit bull mix with a large chest and smaller neck and previous seatbelts i've tried were either too loose on her neck or too tight on her chest. This one has a wider range of adjustment so it fits her quite well. I wish i bought the S clip with it because my seat belt will get too tight and cause my dog to be uncomfortable.Ashley
I have 2 dogs, both have thick chests for their size and slim necks. Harnesses usually fit in either neck or chest but not both. This fit back/ chest but gaps horribly at their sides! Granted, both of my dogs are athletes. One in agility and the other in dry-land mushing. I imagine this product would be a perfect fit on most dogs of average fitness. I wont use it for walking or any other activity but its fine for transportation purposes.Kyra C.
