I had bought a different one before this one that was just a thick band that went around her waist & had handles at the top but it just kind of slipped down even thougn it was her size when we were trying to help her get down the stairs. First time I used it on my English Springer Spaniel, I love it. He ruptured his ACL and surgery isn't for a few weeks. This has definitely made helping him around much easier. I've been looking for a lift like this for my dog, as her rear legs aren't what they used to be with her old age. Something to help me keep her up and or pull her back up should she fall. I'm not sure what I was expecting as I'd hope this would stay on her as photoed. It does not wear flat and neat, it bunches up behind her rear legs as she walks and theres no amount of adjusting to keep it open. Frustrating, and equivalent to using a towel, except the handles are nice, should she fall, I can easily pick her up. As for materials, the quality is top notch, it's soft interior is a plus, and the handles/clips feel strong. I've always been happy with the quality of Orvis, I just wish this didn't slide off my dog.Dani333

Our 15 year old golden retriever corgi is increasingly having issues with his hind legs and mobility can be very difficult. He needs most help when he is going in and out of a car via a ramp, in and out of the bath, and on bad mobility days we need something to help us get him outside to go to toilet – we basically use the handles to keep him upright in order to do his business. This definitely helps but with modifications for the latter task. Duke is long bodied and wide like a golden retriever but with very short legs and is about 50 pounds, so he needs support all along his body and we have to get the XL size to fully accommodate his length, it is a bit big at the front and does look like we have turned him in to a duffle bag, but that's part of the fun. The issue is when we need to take him to toilet using it, and I've had to cut a rectangle in the middle of it, between the straps, to allow him to be able to relieve. It washes great in the machine and even with the cut out the material has retained strength and hasn't frayed. We are lucky that our guy is no more than 50 pounds, I can't imagine managing this condition with a heavier dog. Even at that weight it is a bit of a struggle, but this certainly makes it seem less like he is being hurt as we do it. It is all very stable and everything is equally supported without any 'yelps', which wasn't the case with others. So it works very well for us and we are very thankful to have found it (we now have three of them).LainieA51
As our yellow lab “Griffin” began to age it was heartbreaking to see a formerly active, vibrant field dog begin to loose the strength in his legs. He loved his rides in the car, and as a passionate field dog, he could negotiate any rock wall with ease. As he aged he couldn’t even climb the stairs to come to bed. We used your dog lift assist carrier to help him up stairs, and boost him into the car, so he returned to his roll “Driving Mr. Griff”. I would make one design suggestion that might help improve this product. On the double strap lift handle, I would add two sturdy additional horizontal lift handles 1/2 way down the sides of the primary straps, thereby enabling two people to lift the dog from both sides of the carrier. This really helps with a heavier dog! Overall, this is a well designed, and well built product!
Have a beagle with hind leg, disk issues. Tried a vet two-piece harness & that was impossible to get around his legs & then his tail, too. I read a review by someone saying this one is hard to put on, but trust me, compared to the trapeze contraption- it’s cake. And you’ll learn better ways of placing it under their belly & then slipping their front legs through. This one-piece, I find, is also easier to manipulate to allow added pressure or remove pressure. Most handy when he’s pooping & can’t handle the squatting. Anyway, my guy at the smaller size of medium & so like Houdini he manages to get his front paws out of the holes & either wears it like a tu-tu sometimes or w/ one paw out, trips across it. Larger, medium size dogs, more toward 50 lbs & longer probably get a great fit. Other critique is a nice V-cut in underside toward back would be great to still allow support – but prevent guy dogs from possibly peeing on it. It looks like a great dog halter. This is the third halter I ve gotten for my cairn terrier mix. This one looks like he might not be able to escape. Unfortunately, it is way too small for my dog. There is only one size smaller, and I expect it is too big, also. The receipt was illegible, and I have no idea how to send the halter back. I plan to donate it to the animal shelter. I am still looking for a halter he won t escape from.

The harness isn't working for me but I can't send it back. My dog is a male and the back strap rides directly over his, uh, spout. He soaked it pretty good the first time out so we have to keep it. But he didn't like it either – it is pretty heavy and made him overheat. Might work for winter but I have to figure out how to modify the back strap so he can pee free.

It’s durable and it doesn’t break easily. I was skeptical because of the plastic connectors. The hook is very strong. I have to keep my dog chain on Milo because he like to escape out my wooden fence. He will be 11 months on August 6, and he is very strong. I love the handle that they placed on it besides the hook on top and bottom. Love it, Love it, Love it! The negative thing is it’s too hot for this thick harness in Georgia. The hair, skin, and dirt particles get stuck in the inside of the harness. I tried to wash it several times and it doesn’t come out and not that clean. I don’t put it in the dryer still the outside is cracking a little! I brought it in April and I’m writing this review on July 31, 2021. I brought a XL and with all the negative I would still buy it again if I had to. I love the Durability that it gives me to be able to control my fur baby when he gets happy to see other people. He goes from 0 to 100 in 3 seconds and wants all of the attention and love they have!chakleteclr
I just received this product last night I have 100 pound pitbull harnesses have never worked because I end up pulling in almost choking him trying to control him it was like night and day I’m grateful for this product I was able to walk my dog for the first time last night and have almost complete control and not so much I didn’t have any yank on his leash thank you I recommend this productCourtney

Our 15 year old golden retriever corgi is increasingly having issues with his hind legs and mobility can be very difficult. He needs most help when he is going in and out of a car via a ramp, in and out of the bath, and on bad mobility days we need something to help us get him outside to go to toilet – we basically use the handles to keep him upright in order to do his business. This definitely helps but with modifications for the latter task. Duke is long bodied and wide like a golden retriever but with very short legs and is about 50 pounds, so he needs support all along his body and we have to get the XL size to fully accommodate his length, it is a bit big at the front and does look like we have turned him in to a duffle bag, but that's part of the fun. The issue is when we need to take him to toilet using it, and I've had to cut a rectangle in the middle of it, between the straps, to allow him to be able to relieve. It washes great in the machine and even with the cut out the material has retained strength and hasn't frayed. We are lucky that our guy is no more than 50 pounds, I can't imagine managing this condition with a heavier dog. Even at that weight it is a bit of a struggle, but this certainly makes it seem less like he is being hurt as we do it. It is all very stable and everything is equally supported without any 'yelps', which wasn't the case with others. So it works very well for us and we are very thankful to have found it (we now have three of them).LainieA51
As our yellow lab “Griffin” began to age it was heartbreaking to see a formerly active, vibrant field dog begin to loose the strength in his legs. He loved his rides in the car, and as a passionate field dog, he could negotiate any rock wall with ease. As he aged he couldn’t even climb the stairs to come to bed. We used your dog lift assist carrier to help him up stairs, and boost him into the car, so he returned to his roll “Driving Mr. Griff”. I would make one design suggestion that might help improve this product. On the double strap lift handle, I would add two sturdy additional horizontal lift handles 1/2 way down the sides of the primary straps, thereby enabling two people to lift the dog from both sides of the carrier. This really helps with a heavier dog! Overall, this is a well designed, and well built product!
Have a beagle with hind leg, disk issues. Tried a vet two-piece harness & that was impossible to get around his legs & then his tail, too. I read a review by someone saying this one is hard to put on, but trust me, compared to the trapeze contraption- it’s cake. And you’ll learn better ways of placing it under their belly & then slipping their front legs through. This one-piece, I find, is also easier to manipulate to allow added pressure or remove pressure. Most handy when he’s pooping & can’t handle the squatting. Anyway, my guy at the smaller size of medium & so like Houdini he manages to get his front paws out of the holes & either wears it like a tu-tu sometimes or w/ one paw out, trips across it. Larger, medium size dogs, more toward 50 lbs & longer probably get a great fit. Other critique is a nice V-cut in underside toward back would be great to still allow support – but prevent guy dogs from possibly peeing on it. In all: great aid & it helps my wife lift him into the truck when we use it as Orvis thought it’d be used.GerryB
