I bought this hoping we could avoid surgery for our pup. this was the second brace we bought for her. This was far superior to the first one we purchased. Had I got this one in the beginning, we may have avoided surgery. But, we still had to have surgery for our girl. The vet said the ligament was pinched in the joint so brace would not have helped. What it has helped with is the recovery from the surgery. I have felt so much better taking her on her walks with the Ortho Brace on. She is an 80 pound puppy and makes really unwise choices in her activities :). Her surgery was 10 weeks ago and she is recovering really well. After an injury to my dog, Blitzen's right rear CCL, my vet was recommending surgery that cost over $4000 with no guarantee of success. I purchased this brace for an older dog that needed a TPLO surgery for a second time. He had the first surgery at 7 years old and now he is 12 and needs the surgery on the other leg. This is a solid piece of equipment. I certainly feel safe walking around with it on. I've walked about 6km in it at this point and my only point for potential buyers is that the cross-over straps at the back of the knee do pinch if you have the knee bent for too long. I have a manual car and drove to work in it after sitting with my knee bent watching tv and I felt it pinch a bit when changing gears. It's not a big thing as it's fine walking – but it's the only negative I can think of. I had to return the first one I got as it was a size too large and it was a very easy and painless process. My knee measurement fell in both the XXL and the XL so I took their advice and sized up when the smaller worked out better for me.Todd D
I purchased the Ultra Knee Support With Bilateral Hinges. I had my ACL replaced approximately 10 months ago. At first I had a hotspot on the inside of my knee. I am 6'3" (75 in), 212 lbs and I am in fairly good shape. I am active duty Army, and i had dislocated my knee playing football, so I wanted something multi-sport and more supportive/comfortable than the slip-on neoprene braces I got from medical. I bought this brace because they were sold out of the original K8s in my size. After getting measured at a dealership, I ordered my brace on here using the measuring guide. The guide is more-or-less spot on. My size required an XL (knee being 4.75 in across), and the cutoff was 4.7 in for the next size. The brace fits almost perfectly and helps to fully support my knee. I do a lot of running, weight lifting and I ride my KTM to work everyday, so this brace fits my lifestyle perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend a brace sock or something, it makes a world of difference. Here's some of the highs of this brace: -VERY light, supportive and comfortable. -Fits under my uniform even with knee cover in place. -Hinges can be rebuilt. -Removable knee cap/pad -Medically certified (my physician is an Army Captain, and he was impressed with it). -Carbon fiber and indestructible -Sizing chart makes almost the perfect fit. My only complaints about this brace are more personal issue than anything, but here they are: -Needs to come with more inner padding. Since I'm on the small-side of XL, a couple extra hinge pads would help in a truly customized fit. -There is no negative bend in the knee. When I stand up straight, they brace is locked out and presses a little on my shin and upper thigh. I could have awkward legs, or not doing something right, but -5 degrees in the bend would go a long way for me. -The fit and finish is perfect, but the gloss finish scrapes up too easily. A week later and I've already seen some scuffs appear from stretching and other activities. -The instructions were very vague and didn't help at all. It basically said sit down with bend in knee, put brace on, adjust to fit. Other than those gripes (which I still feel are mostly myself), I have really enjoyed this knee brace. I love this thing, i bought it hoping it will stop my 10 year old border collie from chewing up his legs. I have had a long drawn out battle, spending a fortune trying to get him to stop, i have tried wrapping it but he has ripped it off multiple times. As a last resort i tried this. I am truly thankful for the person who designed this product. Our little 5 week old stray that showed up at our home did so with a dislocated paw and a huge pressure sore where she had been walking on the side of her leg. My dog had pins in hock joint & splint is not helping her , unable to use it . I started to return it , but took my dog to a different vet. Yesterday & he removed pins , & she will need more surgery for ligament & tendon repair . I don’t know as of moment if my dog will ever get to use the splint . It’s perfect condition I only put on her for a minute & realized it won’t fit as needed because her leg hock joint is a train wreck . I have carpet so it’s just as it was when I received it . The vet even talked of amputation yesterday so I’m pretty depressed about the whole situation. Can I return the brace , hopefully another dog can use it . It just didn’t fit her , nothing wrong with it , it’s her leg is not strait . Sorry, And Thank You .Marla

Our 90 lb German Shepherd sprained his ankle quite severely several months ago. He loves to plays fetch with with his whole heart and soul. Our dog Banyan tore his right ACL and like anyone else, we went to the vet and they gave us the prognosis and told us he needed surgery. The "best" option they told us was TPLO surgery, which we found to be extremely invasive, unnatural, and we weren't comfortable putting Banyan through that, especially after also learning that within a year of the surgery dogs typically tear their other ACL as well. Animal Ortho Care to the rescue! Even after a couple of weeks, Banyan has been putting full weight on his leg and we take him for daily walks and it's as if he's back to normal, it's incredible! I purchased this brace for my 11-year-old pup who tore her ACL jumping off the couch. Surgery was a last resort for her because of her age, but this rendered the need for it obsolete. Within 7 months of use, and no additional treatments (besides herbs for ligament strength), her ACL had healed completely. I truly cannot rave about this brace enough. It was comfortable for her to wear all day (took her a day or two to get used to it, but afterwards she was fine), and is still proving to be a godsend – she tweaked something in that same leg a few days ago, and when I pulled out the brace, she hobbled toward it happily, as by now she knows how much it helps her.
