I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) If I could give zero stars I would. It has rusted so badly HUGE FLAKES fall off of it. Not only is it now unattractive I worry about the health of my dog. I have used this to host puppy playdates over 2 years. Cannot be happier with purchase. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. The lack of specs on the product description was unfortunate. Compared to other kennels of the same cost, itâs smaller, which is also unfortunate- I compared by cost and height to hopefully get what I believed would be a 10×15 or 10×10 (again, no specs so I was going with a similar product for the same cost and hoping theyd be the same size). The kennel is made of sturdy metal, the panels are easy to assemble, finished product looks great and is satisfying. Only problem was 1 panel was slightly bent half way up on left side, but doesnât affect its use. It is noticeable but to get it it replaced would be a huge inconvenience. So living with it. The damage was probably from shipping, I noticed in other reviews others have had shipping damage.
Got this for a large dog to recover from surgery. Not as strong as a large welded wire portable kennel. It does allow more room to stretch out than the large portable kennel. If your animal needs room to move around, this may be a good kennel. Not super sturdy. Walls will moved out since they are connected with brackets (two each panel). May not be escape proof. This is an extremely sturdy kennel and of high quality. Very easy to assemble. I assembled it myself and completely finished it took me about an hour and a half. The only downside is this kennel doesn't come with anchors that go in the ground to give it that extra firm support, however it doesn't appear to need it, as the kennel is extremely sturdy without them. So far, this kennel has saved 4 lives, by providing my partner and I a safe place where our new "rescue" pup can run and play off some of his excess energy, without driving us insane. Which means, naturally, the pup just thinks the Cocker is his personal chew toy!! So yes, the kennel is great, the materials are of good quality, it is very sturdy, and I especially love the fact that it can be moved to different areas of the yard so the grass doesn't get killed off from the pup's potty in one spot consistently. The nuts on this product are welded and the preset screws are soft and in very tight. This made it difficult to get the screws out without stripping them. I also had problems getting one of the pipes to slide into the other because there was a small piece of metal sticking down inside the pipe. I spent about an hour trying to file that down so i could finish the assembly. So what should have taken maybe two hours, turned into a four hour project. Aside from the horrors of putting the kennel together, it serves it's purpose for my 22 lb dog. I don't know how it will withstand the weather because I've only had it two weeks. This kennel is pretty flimsy and wonât hold a large dog that is determined to get out. I used my own tie wire because the ties that were included were a joke. Luckily I only need it for my rabbits and after I made my own gate latch and blocked off the space under the gate it was great for them. I love Hayneedle, but the company that made this fence should have sent instructions; and the gate should have been assembled instead of coming in different strands of wire. The picture is very false. Expected it to be in panels to put together. EZ it says EZ it's not. I have it upside down on purpose so that I can walk through instead of crawl through the opening. I purchased this product to put my new puppy in for short periods of time when I needed to do something. It was so flimsy my 3.5 lb puppy was able to drag it all over and my adult daughter bent over to pick him up barely touching the fence and it caved in with her falling hard to the floor just missing the pup. So for my particular purpose it did not work. Its a great idea and Im sure would work for another idea but I would not recommend for puppies or any dogs to be placed in this fence.Tina

I bought the medium sized kennel for my Shih Tzu. The size is perfect with plenty of room for him to play. The kennel is sturdy with an easy to operate door. The total time to assemble this kennel was about (1) hour (my husband put it together by himself). You will need something to cut the excess wire (the screws on the door need to be cut back before you can cap them off and the wires that connect the fence to the structure need to be twisted and trimmed to avoid injury). The sunshade DOES NOT cover the entire kennel. which I knew about from other reviews. I left the 2 inch gap near the door so I can stick my arm into the kennel and pet my dog while I walk by. This was simple to assemble, and sturdy. The only issues were small: two spots in the chain link fence, the wires didn't weave correctly so there were holes; and the locking mechanism on the gate is very cheap. I don't think I will use the gate mechanism because my dog could easily push it up and open the gate. I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) The raised gate is perfect for not rubbing on the floor and scratching it up. the panels are not too heavy I could construct the pen easily. If I could give zero stars I would. It has rusted so badly HUGE FLAKES fall off of it. Not only is it now unattractive I worry about the health of my dog. I have used this to host puppy playdates over 2 years. Cannot be happier with purchase. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. I bought this because Iâm staying with my sister temporarily and have 2 dogs. I used to live in an apartment with wood floors and apparently, my dogs donât like carpet. I work from home so I rarely leave the house but the dogs (both under 12lbs) started ripping at the carpet. This kennel is extra large and wonderful to hold their bed and then room for training pads. The tray on the bottom is metal and very sturdy. We are loving this as an option. The Cons….Metal tray is not as large as the crate—so we have some wetting outside the tray. ( boy dog) The handles —-one was broken off when arrived. It is not welded very well. We just put duck tape as a handle and use it that way. Overall this is a great crate. Just have to make a few minor adjustments. The biggest being the tray is not as large as the crate.Sand
Seemed like a really good solution for my lab mix whose afraid of storms but in her 1st night I didnât get any sleep when I laid down. The lifting of the cage walls( they are not secured to the bottom in any way at all and sit around the cage bottom that is about an inch in space on all sides from the cage bars). A stand up, and a simple push was all it too for her to get free the 1st time. 2nd attempt, I secured here cage in the corner of a room with my stationary exercise bike pinning it in a corner. Bloody mouth, paws and less than 10 minutes later 8 had to let her out. She bent the bars inward as they arenât as strong as they look. Heavy duty is an understatement. Could not return it since itâs technically used, but this was the 1st day I used it. Total waste of my money. My dog is NOT a wild puppy either, as she is 12 yrs old, only 65lbs and not aggressive at all.Nikki

I bought this kennel as an early birthday present for my dog Nova who actually turns 7 today đ„° and she loves it. It took about an hour and change for my sister and i to put it together. We didn't need any tools .. all the pieces and parts were easy to figure out . I am a renter and have a very small patio and this fits perfectly in the space I have with room for me to have a chair beside it. nova weighs 70 pounds and her litter mate (the dog on the left with the claws lol) also weighs about the same and you can see both of them put their body weight against the side and the kennel didn't move at all. It is very sturdy and well made for the price .. I highly highly recommend this kennel so far .. I will update in the future if anything breaks or rusts but for now I am giving this a 10/10 for bully breeds especially. This is a good product, simple to assemble and works as advertised for our 5 pound terrier. Went for the large so there is room for a bed and a wee mat. Product is bulky to ship and came damaged and missing the connectors to hold it together. I solved the problem with cable ties until the vendor shipped me the connectors. They responded well to the issue and shipped me the missing bits. It doesn't have a lid and I didn't want one, but we do put 2 large beach towels over it at night to make it quieter and darker. We bought this pen for our rabbit and it arrived in a box torn in multiple places and the pieces were sticking out. It also did not come with any instructions or dowel-type things to insert in the corners so it falls over with a light touch. It also has a scratch on the side and a bent rod. Good quality heavy duty cage for my Doberman puppy. The chewed the wires off the regular cage. Only concern is the tray goes under the metal grate at the bottom of the cage. Not good at all. He got his foot pad/toe caught in it. Also his collar caught in it. I forced the tray to go into the cage on top of the grate. Problem solved. Need to have an option of where to put it. Would recommend with supervision of your dog. No collars on when grate is not covered. Good tough cage. Neighbor bought same fir her bull dog puppy same age as my dobie. She likes it also. *The price was very reasonable and the size/construction was surprisingly sturdy. *As an added bonus, our cage has a side door that wasn't advertised. We almost didn't purchase this one since it appeared to only have the one door at the end. But our cage has a second door that swings out from the side panel. *We have always taken small (4" size) zip ties and secured the corners of our cages to provide added strength – in case dogs paw at the cage. I would still recommend zip ties although the cage seems to snap in place tightly. Of course, if you frequently fold down the cage, replacing zip ties can become cumbersome. *The plastic pan on the bottom is thinner than our last cage, but our dogs have not chewed or scratched at them previously, so this won't be a problem for us. *The carrying handle appears strong enough to lift the empty cage and will be useful. *Upper and lower slide latches are provided on each door. All latches have a rod bent at the end to help secure the latch. In the past, our dogs learned to shake the door until the latch slid over but this new design prevents the latch from sliding open.KYMom
I bought one of these and liked it so much that I just purchased another one. Both are the 42 inch size.I have 2 older 42 inch similar type kennels but they are a different brand and I paid a lot more for them. I think that the BestPet brand wire pet cage/crate/kennels are just as good as the more expensive ones that I have. In fact I was able to purchase two of the BestPet kennels for what I paid for one of the older kennels I have. I like the latches on the Best Pet kennels. They have a little "crook" on the end that prevents the latch from sliding open accidently. But it is easy for a human to open and close. I am an older woman and the kennels are easy for me to move around to the areas I desire to put them. They are sturdy, but easy to handle,and have the plastic slide out tray at the bottom for easy cleaning, I was unsure about this Brand at first because the price was so GOOD that I figured something had to be flawed with this kennel but I was very wrong. I do think it is a good idea to buy a couple of extra plastic trays or if you are crafty cut a piece of heavy duty plastic to have on hand when you change out a tray for cleaning. Plastic is just plastic so a heavy dog could cause damage to the tray .But the trays I got with my kennels are not flimsy at all. The kennel comes with a plastic handle that can be attached at the top. I live in a rural and at night the coyotes and other undesirable critters come out and I have had problems with Tom cats just mauling my young cats. So now I can put my kittens or young cats and puppies in kennels at night and I don't have to worry and fret about what is happening in the dark to them. Also, this will save me money in Vet bills. The cost of just one of the large kennels is about the cost of an office visit to the vet so I am very pleased to wake up each day and know that all of my "babies" are safe and happy. Included with the kennel is a wire divider that can be put in the kennel so you can keep pets separated from each other. I had one particular cat that had an injury that seemed to outsmart me and escape from any cage I tried to keep her in. She can't get out of this Best Pet kennel. I will buy a couple more of the 42 inch size kennels to have on hand because the price and quality is so great and I plan to buy a couple of the smaller wire ones to transport cats and pups to the vet in. I find the plastic cat carriers to be attractive but not so practical when you have a heavy cat or a "wild" cat or unhappy dog that needs an injection from the vet before it can be removed from the carrier to be tended to.
