Reviews:
This is a perfect addition to our backyard. our pups get thirsty out back when they are playing and though they are welcome to drink inside, it's nice to know they can quench their thirst outside as well. This holds a LOT of water! It's wonderful, has a soft tinkling noise (almost like a fountain), and provides ample water for our two dogs. The water does still need to be changed often outside, even with a filter and all, it can still get gross!Anonymous
We’ve had our fountain for 10+ years. We keep it indoors, and completely clean it once a month. It takes my husband and I about 15 minutes to clean when we work together. Little pieces have broken off, and crusty in places, but it keeps on keeping on. Our bichons and cats love it. The ONLY thing I’d like is the coarse filter to be sold separately.KBichons
Got mine about 4 months ago and initially, I thought all my problems were over. I have two very large dogs and 2 cats. I was hesitant, at first cause it's not stainless steel (plastics harbor bacteria), but I really wanted the really large size, so I got it. Right off the bat, placing the reservoirs into the unit, was a pain in the butt! Water all over the place! Then, I tore it all down to clean it after about a month and the sponge filter inside the bowl had all this slimy gross stuff all over it and inside the sponge holes. It was REALLY gross. BUT, I endured and cleaned it all out. After another month, I tried cleaning it out again, but I just couldn't deal with putting my hands on the sponge, so I threw it away. Now, the pump won't work. Now I have to buy another, smaller, stainless steel fountain for another $100!! With no reservoir!!Another$100

Reviews:
This is a great cat drinking fountain, which unlike many others, is actually aesthetically pleasing. I really like that I can see the water, so I know when I need to refill it, and also, if anything gets in it. It is easy to assemble, and easy to clean/change the filters. The constant water flow creates a nice white noise in the room that you are in. My cats were very curious when I first put it out for them, and now they love it! My cats do not play with water, so I cannot comment as to whether this would be good or bad for those cats. The pagoda tower is simply placed on top of the lower bowl (the outlet is covered in rubber and fits snugly with the pump so it does not move), and for cats that do not play with their water or chase each other and run into their water fountain, this works just great. Note, the water pours out into the lower basin. THe directions suggest putting a mat on the floor. I found that the water does not sprinkle out onto the floor at any noticeable amount, but nonetheless, placed a mat. I have so far not seen any evidence of water on the mat, so don't let these directions scare you! The pictures do not show the mat, as I took them right when I first installed the product. Compared to other cat fountains, this one is on par for performance, but wins out on style, soothing background noise, and ease of seeing when you need to add water.Roxcar
This fountain is beautiful In color and design. The style of pet fountain is something that I personally haven't seen before. It is heavy, and breakable, and that makes me nervous because the teal part just sits on the top. Seeing as my kids are responsible for filling the bowl, I do wish the design would have included something to keep the top more sturdy. The instructions to put the fountain together were a little tough to follow at first as they are not completely clear, bug with some trial and error, it became easier to figure out. The fountain isn't loud at all, it's a peaceful sound of continued running water. Now did my pets like it? No, they did not. They were unsure of it and wouldn't drink from it anytime it was plugged in and running. Though I did leave it running next to their other water bowl to help them get used to it. They did drink a little from it when it wasn't plugged in and going, buy once it was plugged in they were done.Lady H
I purchased the water fountain in August 2021 and it was working great. I noticed that my cat was drinking a lot more water throughout the day with the fountain rather than from her water bowl. Since the bowl is made from ceramic, it is quite heavier than other water fountains which sometimes made the cleaning process a hassle. The motor stopped working after less than 4 months which is a big disappointment, especially for how expensive the product is. Overall, the product has a great design and holds a lot of water, but there's a short life expectancy to it.JaxJaxJax758392

Reviews:
Was very disappointed in the overall design of the watering bowl. In my opinion it was not worth what it cost. The pump was very small and inadequate, not properly filtering the water as advertised. And yes, I was keeping the water changed and the bowl cleaned as often as I had to do so with a regular unfiltered water bowl. The pump lasted 3 weeks and I had to return the system. I will say that I was very satisfied with the return process. Absolutely no complaints there.wwred104
Historically, we have always used a bowl. After looking around and reading reviews I decided to try this bowl. I went with the big max as we have 4 cats and occasionally a dog visitor. Initially the cats were spooked and were afraid. I had kept the original water bowl set up. Over a couple days they adjusted and now this is the one they use 99% of the time. The original is still available, but is rarely used. I also like the idea of no corners and plan on cleaning it once a month when the filter is changed. I highly recommend this product.Hypatia
I bought this fountain for 3 cats 3 months ago, and it stopped working a few days ago. The motor in the pump seems to have burned out simply from regular usage. Aesthetically the fountain is pleasing, and it wasn’t too noisy, and I thought it was easy to clean. But it was $60 and it only lasted 3 months! I’m extremely disappointed.

Fountain was very easy to assemble (i watched a video on youtube). It runs silently, with a very pleasing quiet water tinkle. Most importantly, my cat likes to drink from it, and spends a fair bit of time just sopitting nearby, watching it. One note: it is big, too big to have in my wee kitchen, so I have installed it in the bathroomTrinitygirl
I really tried to make this fountain work for my needs. I have 3 large dogs that chewed the plastic off of the last fountain, so i was looking for a ceramic fountain that holds a lot of water. This fountain leaks if my dog touches it, and it makes noise when it is 1/2 way full. It was so awful that i had to return it. Very sadMelissa26

Reviews:
I have had this fountain for years. As needed I have replaced various parts. I’m sure the motors would have lasted even longer if I hadn’t inadvertently allowed the water to run dry. The only downside, which is to be expected, is the plastic yellowing and being impacted by hard water. Highly recommend!wildeatheart
needs constant cleaning out. If room is slightly warm, mold accumulates within 24hrs. If cooler, within a few days. Pump dies at least 1X yearly due to mold that is inside the pump that will not clean out fully. (New pumps get mold inside within week and I am constantly rinsing that out also.) But the cats are addicted to it! And no matter how many times I change the filter, it doesn't matter. Even the filter gets slimy from mold within a couple days. The idea is great, but the sharp molding and the compartments that hold moisture (a spores dream come true!!) is conducive to permanent mold infestation. I don't want to use bleach or other harsh chemicals to remove the problem as I don't want that on my cat's water fountain. Dishwashers (and I presume the temperature tolerance of the plastic type used) is not hot enough to kill the spores. The deep spaces and crevices in the poor design can never be cleaned out fully. So each time I clean and dry then refill with water and turn on, the spores simply germinate as soon as they have enough humidity. Seriously, was the cost savings of cutting a few corners that much that this is such a white elephant? I have complained several times with no answer or response. And I am stuck because my cats won't drink water without what they are used to and will go as far as trying to turn on faucets! So my advice to people thinking of buying it– -DON'T unless you are going to clean and dry at least 2-3 times a week. Sure, pets can handle more than average loads of mold and mold spores– but I have mold allergies (severe) – and this has been the most awful thing ever!!! Only reason it's still here is because of my cats. PETSAFE RESPONSE Judy, we are very sorry to hear about the issue you’ve had with our fountain. Typically our fountains only need to be cleaned once every two weeks. There will be certain environments where it may be needed more, or less, frequently, but two weeks is the average. We would recommend that you try cleaning the fountain with white vinegar and soaking the pump overnight in a 50/50 white vinegar and water mixture after completely disassembling the pump and pulling out the magnetic impeller. This will help eliminate any of the mold you have growing. Once you’ve cleaned it with vinegar, replace all the filters so you have a fresh start. Our goal is to provide clean, flowing water for pets so we are dedicated to helping you alleviate the problems you are experiencing. If you need further assistance. we can be reached at our Customer Care Center via 1-800-732-2677.Judy
I’ve had my Drinkwell Platinum fountain for about three years now and it has worked flawlessly. Due to its large size, I find it easier to clean that many of the competing (smaller) plastic pet fountains out there. I also enjoy the fact that it holds more water and the filter is much larger than most fountains as well. On the down side, it can be considered a bit noisy. You will get a mild 60Hz hum from the pump motor as well as the trickling sound of the stream of water as it pours down to the bowl. If you intend to keep the fountain in a room such a kitchen, this shouldn’t be a problem, but a bedroom may be another story. Also, some pets may find it a bit intimidating. My cat liked it, but she would sometimes not pay attention to where she positioned her head and get caught under the flow of water which would chase her away. I have also seen some complain about runaway leaks, which I find interesting as I have never experienced a problem with mine. It may be possible that an uneven surface or damage to the reservoir could cause this phenomenon. The reservoir on the Platinum fountain appears to have a seam that if damaged, would let air into the tank allowing a runway discharge of water. Many competing fountains of similar design seem to have a one piece plastic reservoir which should reduce this risk. Not certain why the engineers for the Platinum chose a different path, but I’m sure there is a reason. Overall… I like the Platinum fountain. I recently chose to get a Seascape fountain for the home, and moved the Platinum out to my screened in porch for the summer where my cat likes to hang out on nice days. Best of both worlds I guess you could say.DJW000

Reviews:
We loved this at first. But after three months it started slowing down and the stream of water got shorter and shorter until it was just a bubble of water coming out. The electrical cord connector is super touchy as well – if it gets knocked or turned it will shut off. After four months it’s now a toss-up whether I can get it to turn on at all. I tried contacting the company off their website, they directed me to another contact point who has never responded after two attempts.Erin
This fountain is the best one we ever had! It's wide enough for my Boston Terrier to drink out of without making a mess and holds about 3 days worth of water. I try to clean it once a week to keep it from getting gunky and so far its been great! My dog loves it and drinks way more water than she did with just a bowl! Highly recommend!lucy

Good idea in concept but poor quality. Very loud and leaked with hose. Too loud for inside. Plug gets very warm.Me1313
We are on our second fountain which we do love, but the first pump failed in about 2 weeks. They are easy to take apart and clean but this second pump now has stopped working. The fountain stays really clean so there isn'teven any gunk inside the pump to really clean but after 4 months on the first replacmeent I have another dead pump. Did I get a bad batch?Betty Boup
9. Petsafe Seascape Pet Fountain
Product Details:
The seascape pet fountain is a whisper quiet, bubbling water fountain that will invite and encourage even the shyest pets to take that first sip. this ceramic fountain holds 70 ounces of water making it a great option for cats and small to medium-sized dogs. pets love running water and are drawn to it, so pet fountains naturally entice dogs and cats to drink more water. this is awesome because your pet needs to drink 1 ounce of water per 1 pound of body weight every day. on top of this ceramic water fountain working hard to give your pet flowing water, it also helps keep your pet's water clean. a foam pre-filter and carbon filter work together to remove bad tastes, odors, pet hair (and the inevitable drool) from your pet's water. meanwhile, the pet fountain pump constantly circulates the water to help prevent bacteria growth. this hygienic ceramic fountain is also free of lead and heavy metals and is scratch resistant. when it's time to clean the fountain, simply disassemble the fountain and place all parts (except for the fountain pump) in the top rack of the dishwasher for easy cleanup. your pet deserves the best with every sip. trust petsafe to keep your pet healthy, safe and happy.

Reviews:
This is my new favorite “go to” pet fountain! It is esthetically pleasing to look at, effective, and quiet (my favorite feature). I have tried other fountains in the past, but they each seem to have their own setbacks. Some were noisy, others were hard to clean, and a few were intimidating to the animal. The Seascape pet fountain is none of these. Upon opening the box, you will find the fountain well packaged. At first it may seem like a lot of parts, but the instructions are clear, concise, and after you assemble it… you will find that it is very easy. On that same topic, you will find the fountain is easy to clean. It does not have a wealth of hard to get at nooks and crannies that many of the plastic fountains have. Once you get it up and running, you will love the fact that it runs very quiet. The water pumps up through the center of the orb in the middle of the dish, and it runs silently (and evenly) over the orb and down to the reserve in the dish. This will allow your pet, the option to decide on where he/she would like to drink the water. I have one single cat and she took to it right away. The flowing, and shimmering water took interest right away. She tried licking from the bowl, from the flow of water over the orb, and even directly from the hole where the water pumps out from. Her favorite it right from the orb, or sometimes right where the water comes out. She can get at it from any angle and she doesn’t have to reach far to get to her favorite spot. In addition, she never again has to worry about accidentally getting her head under the flow of water like she use to with the fountains that “pour” water into the bowl. The Seascape is a home run in my home!DJW000
Many pet fountains focus on functionality and ignore aesthetics. The Drinkwell Seascape Pet Fountain does not follow this trend and provides a great "zen" like look with an excellent capacity and filtration. The product comes very well packaged with very easy to understand instructions both on the box and in an instruction manual (see picture with all pieces removed). The Seascape fountain retains it's polished look by hiding the power cord via a hole through the center of the bowl by way of a tall tower that is hidden under the sphere that the pumped water flows out from. Mechanical filtration is placed around the pump and the carbon filter is placed within a plastic housing that sits on top of the pump (see pictures). A soft rubber seal is used to as seal to prevent water leaking through the tower that the power cord runs down (see picture). Pulling apart the plastic housing that holds the carbon filter can be tricky, but the key is to use your finger nails to securely hold one side while 'cracking open' the two pieces like an egg. Once assembled, the fountains provides ample amount of water circulation in a very quiet manner. The pump is silent and the water rolls over and down the sphere as if it were "form fitted." It's really slick! A pet fountain though is only as good as the participants using it and this is where our troubles began. Our household has 3 Exotic Shorthair kitties and anyone that knows this breed will confidently agree that they are very loving and mild mannered *but* they are not the brightest of the bunch. Just like humans, every cat has their preferred method of doing things and this specially hold true when it comes to drinking. One of our cats (the smartest) knew there was water flowing over the sphere and drank from it directly. Our second smarted cat sorta-kinda figured it out but had high curiosity for the water sitting in the bowl. Our third cat (all beauty but no brains) could not tell there was water running around the sphere and thus squeezed her head between the sphere and the side of the bowl (which doesn't have much room.. see pictures). Her method of drinking would get her head very wet (which she didn't mind) and thus required us to dry her head to prevent her fur from falling out. The Drinkwell Seascape Pet Fountain is beautiful and runs extremely silent while providing filtration (lasts up to 4 weeks). Assembly was very simple and appears to be designed to last. As with any pet fountain, PLEASE study how your pets enjoy drinking their water and determine if the fountain will accommodate their style. If our cats were a little bit "brighter" and had a little less dense fur we would very much have enjoyed adding this fountain to our home!Michael
They were afraid of it at first so I didn't run the pump. After they got used to that and I added the pump they each drink so much more water. They are totally in love with clean running water now! Hooray! Be very careful to not lose any parts in the water or allow to go down the disposal! I almost lost some that way. With two delighted cats, I only have to clean it once a week and I am very careful as I do. I found economical filters for it online.Linda

The media could not be loaded. With four cats in the home, this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to fountains. My cats drink a LOT more when the water is constantly running, so years back I invested in a large stainless steel fountain set up close to the $100 range. We have well water, which means that many fountains with the cute little "fountain effect" – streaming little rivers from the top – clog easily. I was always cleaning that darn thing. But more annoying? So many pieces when it came time to clean, and multiple consumable parts required for the filter setup. Enter this little fountain. Combination of plastic and stainless steel. I wasn't entirely sold on the idea of plastic, but with a setup like this – where most of the water is not visible from the top – it is nice to be able to keep an eye on the water level. I'm coming around to it, I like that the top part is stainless steel. The deeper "tank' setup versus the big open designs where all the water is exposed constantly means that less dust/debris/etc ends up in the water. I think this design is superior after seeing both in action. This fountain is SILENT and NO SPLASHING/DRIPS! This is huge! Fountains with the sound of running water tend to be soothing for a few weeks and then they are just not. Particularly depending on where you want to put fresh water for your feline friend. Because there is no splashing water and thus no potential drippage, I feel comfortable putting this in the hallway corner straight on the wood floor. Just as awesome? No consumable filters with this set up. It is a three tier divided container with a super simple little turning plastic gear in the bottom that keeps it going. SO easy to take apart and SO easy to clean. If you need your water filtered due to taste then this probably isn't the unit for you, but if you are looking for easy/free maintenance give it a try! Picture included with a cat to give idea on size scale. From a daily use perspective I have two cats that drink from it every day (it is not their only source of water though) and I have to add water once a week. Only note? Don't overfill above the max water line. I did, during initial setup, and the fountain wouldn't turn on. I dumped some water back out and it still wouldn't. I unplugged/plugged it back in, and then it started up. Keep that in mind just in case you, like me, have trouble following directions!
***Update 10/28/2022*** Revising my initial review (below). Eufy customer service reached out after my initial review. They sent me a replacement unit as the first unit I received appeared to be used. Everything works great and the unit is incredibly easy to maintain and use. The "pump" mechanism is a vast improvement to most pet water fountains. Instead of a pump that sits in the bottom of the water reservoir and gets gummed up with whatever schmoo ends up floating around in the tank, this unit uses a magnet driven impeller that is easy to remove and clean. The actual motor that drives the impeller is completely separate from the water tank and can't get all gummed up. All the parts fit together neatly and the unit makes practically no noise. My only gripe is that it doesn't come with the USB wall "brick" that plugs into your outlets. Luckily we have several outlets with built in USB ports. Seems like an easy/cheap fix that would address most of the negative reviews I've seen on Amazon. ***Initial Review 10/10/2022*** Just received this and it appears to be used. There are water stains on the top metal piece and the filter looks dirty and has hairs on it.
We've been thru a LOT of water fountains. Dozens. They are either too loud, too difficult to clean, never stay clean, break after a few months, filters are too expensive, too tall for my Munchkin, or the cats just don't like them. I have 2 kitties and they are not buddies. They won't drink from the same water dish. After getting fed up with the last one for the short one, I saw this one and figured it looked promising. It was easy to set up and I was instantly impressed with how much water it could hold and how easy it is to see the water level. I can see it clear across the room! With most of the others, you either can't see at all, or it has a tiny window you have to stand in front of and bend down to check. So far I was impressed but then it was up to the cats. My little one is obsessed with water fountains and ran right up to it as soon as the water started coming out of the spout. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then gave it a try, and she loves it. Then one day and I was in the living room and heard her meowing, which she doesn't do often, and I came in and she was crying because her big sister was using her fountain! They generally share nothing. Don't sleep in the same spots, won't eat from the same dish, but I guess this fountain is so good, that they are learning to share. Sometimes I find my little one camped out in front of it and her big sister waiting nearby, wanting a turn. I've been using it a solid month now, and I'm very impressed. Several I've tried haven't even lasted this long. Another checkmark in the Eufy column, I really haven't ever bought an item from them that didn't work as intended.

I can not say enough good things! I use to have the 5 gallon big dog water fountain but my big dog passed and needed something smaller for my 20 lb Shiba Inu breed and also that was easier to clean. I hated and i mean hated cleaning my big dog fountain! This fountain is VERY easy to clean. The no thight small spaces where I can't wash with a sponge or wash cloth unlike the big dog I needed multiple tools to clean it. This one's filters are the same I used for my old fountain but it goes in sideways so it's nice and easy to find filters. The water fountain is super quiet especially compared to my old big dog one. No messes or splashing problems. The two tiers are awesome and my dog drinks out of both. I did have to out it on a shoe box to raise it some because my dogs are spoiled and I believe in the bowls being raised up at the right height so they are drinking and eating without bending too far down. It was ok on the floor if she drank out of the top all the time but I noticed she prefers the bottom to drink from most…. The sleek design is amazing compared to my gigantic big dog one that took up so much room and did not go flat against the wall, this one is flat so it goes up against the wall and only comes out a small amount so great for smaller spaces like apartments or anyone wanting to minimize how much space their pet bowls take up… I have been using it for 2 months and I tend to need to wash it only once a month due to dust and hair getting into the water. Has came apart and put back to get her easily and always runs right when plugged back in.CJNF
We used this for awhile and were just not happy with it. The problem is that as soon as the water level goes down an inch or so, the sound level from the pump increases Dramatically. It looks really cool, and I would say it's great for maybe a cat or two. The top part doesn't hold much water, so the volume is rally held in the bottom part. However the pump is slightly elevated inside the base, so as soon as a bit of water is drunk, and the level goes down even a little bit, the pump gets really (annoyingly) loud because it is now sucking air and water. Our fountain sits pretty close to the utility room sink, so we kept a large glass by the sink just to refill this fountain frequently (like a couple times a day). We replaced ours with a larger one and gave this to our daughter for her cat, so it's not a lost cause. And it's not a bad product, it's just that how much it holds does not truly tell you how often you will have to add water. Once about 12-16 ounces have been drunk, you will be adding more water.JamesE
Our dogs prefer running water, which means they would always bypass their bowl in order to head to the tub or bathroom sink for a drink of running water. It was getting old to go turn on faucets at their beck and call (and, yes, we regretted ever doing it the first time), so we got this fountain that is constantly running! It is much smaller than what they are used to so it is taking a little time for them to prefer it over the tub or sink, but they are warming up to it. We look forward to no more whining at the bathroom door or jumping in our nice, clean tub every hour. The fountain is sturdy and holds a good amount of water, so we only have to refill it once a day (for a jack russell and an aussie collie). There is an optional filter that you can change out every two weeks for clean water, which we probably won't use because we have clean well water. You do have to take apart the fountain and rinse/clean the components every couple of weeks, but that is SO worth the time when it is giving us back a small piece of our sanity.Hilary007

So glad to have found this fountain. My cats have to go to the bathroom with me and jump up on the sink and wait for me to turn the water on for them. I would have to do that and wait ten minutes before I could brush my teeth. I was even considering a double vanity when searching for a new house so they could have their own sink and I don't have to wait on them. I got them this fountain and they gave me my sink back. Lol They see it as their own little sink with a running faucet. Your cats will love it. And the quality is great too. One of my girls like to push fountains and water bowls across the floor with her head and it holds up really well, not spilling or anything. It is easy to take apart to clean and the filter is a plastic piece with charcoal that is available on Amazon.BrinaD
Overall, this is a nice product. I have a cat that loves to drink from the faucet only. He will wait and wait to drink water unless it's from the faucet. This fountain encouraged him to drink more water, hence the three stars. The fountain is easy to disassemble to clean, easy to fill. A few downsides: the fountain is noisier than other fountains I have had. It runs noisy and is very noisy when the pet drinks from the stream. Drinking from the stream splashes out quite a bit , so I sit the fountain on a waterproof surface. The cord is all one piece, so has to be unplugged from the wall to move it or clean it. It also has to unplugged and re-plugged in a few times to start the stream. The replacement filters run about $3.00 each – a little more expensive than some other fountains. All in all, it's one of the few fountains that truly mimic a running faucet, so I would buy again.D.
I bought this fountain as a temporary replacement while I was waiting for a new pump for my existing one. My cats like it so much better than the old one, and I also find it much easier to wash and keep clean. My original one is porcelain, and was far more expensive, but I'm retiring it now in favor of this one. It works great, and I truly believe the cats see it as their own personal sink! The only thing that would make this fountain better is if they included a long flexible brush to clean the inside of the plastic tube that the water runs through, or at least mention that you should get one. I found one online that works perfectly.Ron

I purchased this for my four month old kitten to incite him to drink more water. We both absolutely love it, he drinks significantly more than before. The fountain part of this bowl is subtle enough that it doesn't frighten him, and I was impressed at how quiet the motor is. It's also nice that this bowl allows for a "normal" bowl function at the same time. I definitely think you should try this if you have pets!tori.s
Easy to setup and so quite. No motor noise, just the sound of a bubbling brook. Love it and so does the cat.LKBW65
Nice ceramic fountain, a lot of parts for assembly…everything has to fit together just right. Must have patience to assemble My cat hasn’t used it yet but I’m sure she’d like it as well.**update** My cat uses the fountain, drinks from both the water fall and pooled water area. Nice, quiets fountain however on the second cleaning the motor stopped working 🙁Amanda

Reviews:
I have purchased several types of pet fountains over the years. Issues with all of them. Mostly I could never find one large enough that held enough water. I ran across this Drinkwell model on clearance at a local farm and ranch store. It came with the add-on reservoir. I love this fountain! It is quiet, clean, and the cats love it. So do the dogs (I need to buy a larger one for them!). I find it much easier to maintain than other fountains and the pump seems to be superior as well. I never hear it chuffing or buzzing. It doesn't leak or splatter water all over, either. The add-on reservoir is a stroke of genius. It ensures that the fountain doesn't run dry. While I do monitor the fountain every day, I find I don't need to fill or clean it as often as I did other fountains. I'm sold and will only purchase this brand from here on.sjndestiny1959
We had an old, smaller fountain. We replaced the pump when it finally wore out, but the new version of the pump was louder and didn't have flow control options, so we decided to upgrade the whole bowl. First, yes, it's noisy- but it's noisy like an indoor waterfall, because it's bigger than the old one and the water has farther to fall. It doesn't bother us. We've been using it for about a month, maybe longer. It doesn't get dirty as quickly as the old one did and the capacity is surprisingly large. I mean, you can read the specs, but the water reservoir looks small. Maybe it's just because the actual bowl and fountain are bigger. Anyway, with 4 dogs from 55-100 lbs each, and 1 very large kitty, we still only have to fill this fountain a couple of time a week (they have other water bowls, but this one gets used a lot). Bonus 1, our kitty loves the pouring water. The spout extends farther than on the smaller fountain, so he can actually drink like he would from a sink. Bonus 2, the dogs don't make nearly as much of a mess with this one. That's probably a combination of the water level being higher from the floor in the larger bowl, and the sides of the bowl itself being higher, but it's nice whatever the actual reason. I didn't have any trouble inserting the filter- there are instructions telling you which was it fits, after all. So far, so good. If it lasts as long as our previous one did, we'll really be happy!mbtruitt
I have had this for around 8ish or so years. Today I thought it was broken (eg the pump) as the spinner didn't turn. Went on an internet search and didn't find the fix it solution that worked for me so I have posted that below. I discovered that after I had taken out the spinner there was a tiny bit of very flat (as in didn't stick up at all) hard gunk in the very back of where the spinner sits. Q-tips didn't help. Initially when I'd plug it in separate from the fountain it would spin. Then put the fountain together again and it wouldn't. The gunk in there slowed it down just enough with the weight of the water that it wouldn't turn. Finally I took a miniature slot screwdriver (likely a metal knitting needle, spike, skewer, etc. would work too but I don't have one of those – regular screwdrivers are too "fat" to fit) and used the end of that to scrape out the hard gunk – seriously it didn't look like much at all, it looked flat, but it mattered. YES!! It works again. Giant pain in the rear to clean but worth it in the long run. I have long ago dispensed with the expensive filters – although this means you need to clean out the spinner more frequently – like weekly (even if you have the filter stuff still gets in the water and then sucked into the spinner and wrapped around it). Stops my "I will only drink something other than running water under lout protest" cats from begging in the bathtub (as in every single time I'd enter the bathroom they'd come running and jump into the tub), any sink in the place… This is not quiet. If you like the sound of a fountain then this will make you happy. If you need quiet to sleep then don't put it close to your bedroom. I have it in the corner of the kitchen which works for me but then I have to be careful not to accidentally get food in it.Liz

Purchased for my dog, Ted. As I’d already got a smaller drinking fountain for my cats, which they love, and it’s encouraged them to drink more, I thought I’d get one for the dog. Ted was a bit hesitant at first, but once he got used to it he was fine. I still have bowls of water around the house but he chooses to drink from the drinking fountain now, apparently animals prefer to drink moving water and I suppose in the wild moving water would be the freshest form to drink. The fountain itself is very easy to put together, to clean and fill and PetShop sell the filters too which is great and it’s very quiet which is another plus.Susan
Has a large capacity, which is great for my large dog! I’m not sure he likes it better than the bowl he had, but I definitely do. Less filling and cleaning to do. I ordered a second one for outside for the cats. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is that there should be a “window” strip to show the water level. Insufficient water could be the cause of the pump to stop working (burn out), which another reviewer stated happening.Lefty219
My cat has definitely been drinking a LOT more since I got this fountain. The downside is I have it placed on a rubber placemat, and it has developed some sort of black stuff underneath, I’m assuming because it always seems to leak out of the blue top piece when I refill it – really hoping it’s not mold but regardless it’s under the fountain and not effecting the fountain itself. Still not something I want near my cats water and have to clean frequently to ensure this doesn’t keep happening. In addition, even though I add filtered water into the fountain (and the fountain is filtering the water itself), I’ve noticed a water line on the blue plastic piece that seems to be degrading. The plastic is rough and disintegrating on the line. I will be upgrading to a stainless steel model for sure, but this was a great (cheaper) way to see if my cat would actually use/like the concept of a fountain before purchasing an expensive model.tiffanyrose

This is THE best pet water fountain. We have had ours for going on six years now and it’s still working just as good as the day we bought it. The motor all the sudden stopped working yesterday and I was a bit sad I was going to have to spend money to either get a new motor or a new fountain all together. If this happens to you do what I did and take the motor apart and clean every little piece super good. This worked like a charm for me and old Betsy water fountain was back in business. My advice for not only this water fountain, but all fountains in general is just to keep up it’s routine cleaning. The filters aren’t completely necessary but do 100% help with not needing to do cleanings everyday. I have kept one in mine all the time and who know that may be the reason mine has lasted so long. When this one is no longer working I will definitely be buying anotheremily.h
I love the simplicity of the design and the large surface area for my three pets. I have noticed that my cat does drink more water than ever before and this makes me very happy. At first my 2 small dogs wouldn't go anywhere near the fountain the first day after it was installed ( I think the soft trickle freaked them out) but now they have no problems with it. Taking apart the impeller is also very simple. A+++ purchase.KittylovesFL
I ( we all ) like this bowl a lot. But 4 stars for some things they goofed on. 1: The minimum and maximum fill lines are molded into the black plastic part. It is near impossible to see without getting right down on it with good lighting. White lines would solve the problem. 2: You need a special size and type of brush to clean it. I haven't been able to find one. It should have been included with the bowl. 3: Although it is needed and I'm not really complaining about it, but it is a whole lot harder to take the pump apart every week to clean, than to just throw the old bowl in the washer. But the water stays clean, where I was having to change the water 2-3 times a day with my 3 dogs.

I'm a rescuer. I got this fountain because I have several cats & 2 recently developed serious bladder infections. After talking with the vet & researching, I found that a water fountain was best for them. When I compared prices, I found that this was the best deal for the best product. My cats immediately started drinking from it after setup. The ability to control the strength of flow or even how the flow comes out, is great. It comes apart easily for cleaning also. I have already recommended it to friends & fellow rescuers.garlandpuck
I've had this fountain for about five years. I've found that if I give it a thorough cleaning every two weeks it performs great. I have four cats and a dog. they all share this fountain. The only issue I've run into is having to replace the pump. I had to replace it a couple of years ago, because I let the water level get too low for the pump to be continually submerged. That was my fault. I'm now looking to have to replace the pump again, but I think it's because I did not know until recently that you could actually take the pump apart to clean the inside and impeller shaft. Moral of the story, watch the video above on how to clean your Drinkwell Fountain Pump. It will help tremendously.I highly recommend the plastic pre-filters. They help tremendously in keeping fur and food particles out of the pump. These filters can be reused a few times before having to replace them. Just clean them thoroughly with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly as well. If you want to economize on the charcoal filters, there is a replacement charcoal filter that you can get and fill it with your own bulk charcoal. Do a search for it.
This is perfect! It holds enough water to last a few days. The water that is dispensed from the top can be adjusted so if you don't want to hear it you don't have to. Or you can have more water dispensed so you hear the water running. My cats do love it. They played in it the first two days but then left it alone.Barbara

This is good for daily water system, but not good if pet owners are looking for a water system for a 2-3 day aways from home. The water is stagnant, it isn’t circulating. It’s like filling up a large bowl of water and letting it sit all day and night. Besides water stagnitation, the water gets warm and multi-pet slobbers get inside the water. My opinion, grab a large bowl and fill with water, which is what this product is.Ryan33
We needed a waterer that wouldn't tip over easily. Despite it being left out of the description, this tank DOES lock into the base. That's a critical design piece for us, because this tank is for our pet goose. Geese never look down when they walk so he plows over his water tank and if it doesn't lock into the base he knocks it over, spilling the whole tank. This one you have to set into the base and twist, which locks it in while depressing a button to release the water. So even if he managed to knock the tank off, no water will spill because the button would release. We love it! Do wish there was some type of indention or handle designed into the tank to make it easier to maneuver, that's my only complaint. Some people fuss about the cheap, thin plastic in the tank–it's less than $20. I highly recommend it.Brandy

I was going out of town for about 3 days & wanted to make sure my 2 cats had a source of fresh water during my trip so I thought this would be prefect! I sat it up on a Thursday evening & was working fine when I left on a Friday morning, upon returning on Monday evening, it was not working any longer. I thought it was low on water, but it wasn't. So, I unplugged it for a few minutes & plugged back in got it to work for about 5 minutes & then it was off again. Read the directions several times (which were not very informative) & nothing made it work again. I tried to set up with app on my phone too & couldn't get it to work (app failed to find device after several attempts). Also, the blue light that is for sterilization doesn't stay on long either. The top part where the cats drink is also hard to remove, there is a little silicone tap that is supposed to be pulled up to refill bottom part with water, I could not get the top to come off no matter how hard I pulled on the tap, so I had to use a butter knife & insert in the opening at the bottom (of the top part) to pop it open. The one positive thing I did like is that the water is enclosed in a revisor under the lid (where cats drink) so dirt & hair doesn't contaminate the fresh water that flows to top for cats to drink. Like my title states, I really wanted to like this fountain but just didn't work like I thought it would! So now I have to return it & find a new fountain….TwoTooManyCats
