If you are needing to purchase a new dog crate, this is the brand and model I highly recommend. Midwest had several levels of crates but I have found that you cannot go wrong purchasing the Lifestage's model. They are solidly made and last forever. I always purchase the double door crates. They have cheaper models & more expensive ones too. I would not recommend their icrate as they are cheaper but they are also not had solidly made as the Lifestage's. Spend the extra $10-$15 and purchase the Life Stages model. It is well worth the money. I have had great success purchasing there crates at Petco.com. I always receive my items within a couple of days. It is also nice when you have a Petco store nearby where you live. If you have any issues with the merchandise you received, they have always been very accommodating and made sure they did whatever was necessary to correct the problem, return the merchandise at a full refund and/or replaced the item. I have been very happy with Petco and the merchandise I have purchased!!!Shari L

I just received this crate a couple of days ago for my Saint Bernard mix pup. The size is perfect and he has tons of room to grow in it. The doors latch nicely and the crate is very sturdy. We received this very fast! The only downfall I had with this purchase was that when we removed it from the box and set it up, there was a decent sized crack (all the way through) on the tray. I won't be replacing the tray as I've spent enough on this crate. And fortunately for me, my 5 month old pup doesn't have accidents in his crate, but I'm sure if others received this, they would not be happy.tsjackie

I had been looking at the end table style crates thinking that would look nicer and less bulky then the 4' x 4' X-pen I have in my living room. But, comfort is the main criteria and I wanted my Whippets to feel they could stand and dig through a deep pile of bedding, so I went with this crate. I like to rearrange the furniture so I bought the double door style to keep my options open. For my two Whippets I bought the 42" x 28" size which has been more then enough room for them to lay side by side or end to end. It arrives flat, but you just fold out the sides and it is ready to go. It came with a handle so it could be 'portable', but at this size it is heavy and I don't plan to take it anywhere, so I didn't attach that. I left the X-Pen up for them while they made the transition, but they hopped into the new crate the minute I put it up and haven't been back in the X-Pen (even though it still has more bedding in it). The black wire instantly looked better then the metal of the X-Pen and I'm staining a piece of wood I put trim molding around for the top (I had it cut to size at Home Depot) so I'll have an end table style look, but the height and comfort the pups want for their 'cave.' Very happy and buying a second one to have at the office for the days they come to work with me. Both crates and the wood top are costing less then the end table style crate, so all three of us are happy!psh1

I don’t love this cover. There is nothing to hold it onto the crate so it slips about. I am going to sew some ties onto the bottom to help keep it in place. I do like the option to open different parts of the cover for different doors on the crate. The pattern is nice and also.Little cat dog

The cover was just as I expected. Light weight, durable and easy to care for. The oy recommendation I can .American is to add velcro/hook&loop fasteners to keep the top of the cover in place. This would prevent the occupant from chewing and keep the cover in place. The for is drab but it gives the crate a dark den appearance so the occupationt is calm and content. I have found over the years that animals naturally respond favorably to a darkened environment. They are more relaxed and calm. Babies in a crate with natural, artificial, even greatly reduced lighting remain alert, peering into the darkness. They often whine, whimper, or bark, but cover the crate and within minutes, they unwind and are off to sleep. For this reason, I have put dark cloth or a blanket over my crates. These covers make it so much easier, and they don't shift or hang on the floor. They look tidier and I can vacuum around the crate without catching the cover.Zuwadi

The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice

I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09

He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! What a pleasant experience. This is such a sturdy crate. I have Serama Chickens that are indoor pets and this was just a great buy for a very reasonable price. Although I do not have a dog, there is no doubt in my mind that this cage would be perfect for a small dog.Lori

I purchased two of these "KennelMaster 24" Folding Black Wire 2 Door Dog Crate" and have had them for several months. What a great buy! Super easy to set up: they come preassembled and all folded up. They unfold and set up in a minute. I have one for each of my dogs: a Maltese/Bichon mix and a Chihuahua mix (who looks just like a small German Shepherd). We use their crates for the night time and when we leave the house. These crates are made of very nice thick metal. Incredibly sturdy. The latches are well made and smart-doggy proof. I like that the bottom is solid and can be easily removed and sanitized. My dogs have scratched and nibbled on the bars daily and the crates have held up like new. There are two doors on each crate: one door on a long side and one door on a short side. There's also a handle on top which makes it really easy to move around when I am relocating it, transporting the dogs, or just moving the crates to vacuum and clean underneath. My crates also came with some additional wire dividers that I don't use. I believe they are for making the crate smaller when you have a puppy and removing it as your dog grows. Crates can be really expensive so I was glad to find these at such a bargain price, especially because they are so well made. I know these crates will last many, many years. I have no negative things to say about these dog crates. I would highly recommend them! Please note: I do not put both dogs in the same crate, though they do both fit. I almost did not purchase this crate due to the multiple bad reviews. Glqd I purchased it qnyway. Other than the people who recieved damaged or warped crates, I'm not sure why there are so many reviews claiming it is difficult to assemble. I'm 4'11", 90 lbs, had 3 kids under 5 in the same room, and I assembled it alone without any real difficulties. The aforementioned children are in one of the review photos to show the enormity of the crate. The 9 month old Great Dane is in the other photo. Luckily for me, besides a slightly warped top piece, none of my pieces were bent, warped, or broken. Took about 30-40 minutes to assemble. Some dogs just don't quite fit into the size charts in the way other dogs do. Our dog Angel, a mountain cur, is one of those dogs. Weight wise, Angel is comfortably in the medium category but she's tall and lanky so she always had to hunch over in her medium crate. This larger crate is a perfect height for the needed room. We bought this product mostly because of the vertical lift feature of the door hinge and the two-door access options which is great for all sorts of configurations (against different walls, corners etc). We like the size and customizable interior of the XL crate for our growing puppy (husky/shepard mix). This is definitely an at home crate vs. care crate. The only issue we have is that compared to our first crate (same company, large single door, 2 locks) is that this crate is very rattly. We crate our dog during sleeping hours and every time he kicks in his sleep or adjusts, it makes a clangy metallic sound that wasn't expected. We have a 6 month old cane corso/pit bull mix, he was 55 lbs and he loves his cage! He's got plenty room right now but so far this cage has paid for itself! He hasn't always loved it. He's bent multiple spots attempting to bust through to get out (sometimes he has while we were gone). Very nice and easy to assemble. Unlike most of the other crates we have used, could only find one sharp edge which, of course, I cut myself on. But I love the how the gates lift up and slide down for extra security on the latch mechanism. Also, the tray is perfect and does not slide around once the crate is assembled properly. Our puppies love it! By the way, have two Frenchton puppies. Their combined weight is about 18 pounds. They travel very well together in this crate. We got the 24 inch.E.

This is a really nice crate. It’s easy to set up and fold up. I should have gotten a taller crate though. It’s a bit short even for my more petite standard poodle. Luckily we have another taller crate.Ambslp

The crate is easy to prop up and stays put with top bars that connect similar to expandable curtain rods. It has front and top zippered closures, and one cute, foldable dry food bowl that has velcro to stick it against one side, just like the pic. Inner measurement is 26x15x15 and is screened on all four sides with sturdy nylon/polyester material. I would recommend this for calm dogs, not dogs who will scratch to get out since it isn't made of leather or metal. We bought this cage so we could bring the dogs in the garage on the coldest winter nights without them getting into stuff they shouldn’t. It works great! We are very happy with this item. It folds up easier than other kennels we have used in the past. It’s convenient we can fold it up and stick it next to the fridge when not in use. I just received this Kennel today. I got the medium kennel. Very easy setup, very nice size a lot of room for my puppy to grow. The only concern I have was that it’s cheaply made very flimsy. My dog will only get 10 pounds so it’s ok for him. But any bigger I would not purchase this not made well enough.Chone

I bought this Kennel initially because it was titled as "Heavy Duty" and an Alaskan Malamute is used as the representative of what this kennel should hold up against. I figured for the price I would give it a shot, we could use a spare kennel anyway since we are fostering a husky, kennel space was limited. When the kennel was delivered and we opened the box. I thought that the wires were a bit thin? Yet, we set it up for use anyway. We decided to leave that afternoon and we put our older Female Alaskan Malamute in the new "Heavy Duty" kennel. We were gone for 2 hours. When we returned, our Female had been able to bend and brake off wires. We had only owned this kennel for a few hours and it was already busted. Needless to say we were frustrated with the false advertising of this kennel. We gave this product 3 stars because we technically can still us it for our Male Alaskan Malamute. This kennel is a must have especially if you have an energetic puppy like I do. We use it when she gets overstimulated from playing. It’s a nice safe retreat for her. We have a powerfully built 40 pound mutt who can muscle her way out of her old crate by popping the single latched door open. We had to add an extra clip to the door to keep her in the crate, which is a pain getting the clip on and off to let her in and out. She can’t gorse the door on this crate open due to the double latches AND the extra “hook” on the tip that holds the latches in place. My little bulldozer can’t open this crate by force and go counter surfing, much to her dismay.TKettle

Bought a large crate to go with my boy liking to stretch out and so he had space. The floor snapped under his weight pretty much right away, causing a sharp edge which is obviously dangerous didnt even get to put his dog bed in. Not as rigid as some cages too. I chose this for my German shepherd puppy to grow in to and because it has an internal divider will give her a smaller living compartment until she is house trained. If she grows out of it eventually then I hope to not need a crate anymore as the next size is mahoosive! I managed to trap my finger between the bars putting this together and boy did it hurt!! It required my husband to release my finger as I was unable with my one free hand and nearly trapped that hand too. That said, I can personally vouch for the strength of this crate and have learnt to read the instructions next time rather than rush. I am slightly disappointed that the Kong logo on the narrow side is a sticker which wasn't even applied straight, I managed to carefully peel it off and stick it on again. There were also a couple of scrapes in the powder coating revealing the bare metal which will ultimately rust. Overall, this is a great crate and I would buy another but the finishing touches could be improved as you would expect with the Kong brand.Lulu

This is the first dog crate I've bought and we got it for our new Labrador puppy. We chose it because it has the divider so you can start out only using part of it when the dog is small. It's hard to find a crate that includes this useful item. This crate is sturdy and well put together, it has a front door and side door and the catches slide across easily. We put blankets on ours to make our puppy feel secure and he is getting on with it very well. I would highly recommend this crate!Silvolf

I was so excited about the fantastic sales price on the crates! Ordered an i Crate in the large size, before I did the research. After research I realized I ordered the lowest-grade crate, not what I wanted. Tried to cancel the order to reorder the higher-grade Ultima Pro. After two calls, they did send a cancel through to see if it would work. (It didn't.) I didnt want to risk waiting and missing the sale so I ordered the Ultima Pro, had to be medium, because large was out of stock. Just opened it and, like others, got one that can't even be put together because it's so out of square. It can't even be bent into place it's so bad. This is one reason I HATE buying online. The only good part is I can at least return it to the local Petco instead of having to ship it back.Lotsa animals here

Good quality heavy duty cage for my Doberman puppy. The chewed the wires off the regular cage. Only concern is the tray goes under the metal grate at the bottom of the cage. Not good at all. He got his foot pad/toe caught in it. Also his collar caught in it. I forced the tray to go into the cage on top of the grate. Problem solved. Need to have an option of where to put it. Would recommend with supervision of your dog. No collars on when grate is not covered. Good tough cage. Neighbor bought same fir her bull dog puppy same age as my dobie. She likes it also. *The price was very reasonable and the size/construction was surprisingly sturdy. *As an added bonus, our cage has a side door that wasn't advertised. We almost didn't purchase this one since it appeared to only have the one door at the end. But our cage has a second door that swings out from the side panel. *We have always taken small (4" size) zip ties and secured the corners of our cages to provide added strength – in case dogs paw at the cage. I would still recommend zip ties although the cage seems to snap in place tightly. Of course, if you frequently fold down the cage, replacing zip ties can become cumbersome. *The plastic pan on the bottom is thinner than our last cage, but our dogs have not chewed or scratched at them previously, so this won't be a problem for us. *The carrying handle appears strong enough to lift the empty cage and will be useful. *Upper and lower slide latches are provided on each door. All latches have a rod bent at the end to help secure the latch. In the past, our dogs learned to shake the door until the latch slid over but this new design prevents the latch from sliding open.KYMom

I bought one of these and liked it so much that I just purchased another one. Both are the 42 inch size.I have 2 older 42 inch similar type kennels but they are a different brand and I paid a lot more for them. I think that the BestPet brand wire pet cage/crate/kennels are just as good as the more expensive ones that I have. In fact I was able to purchase two of the BestPet kennels for what I paid for one of the older kennels I have. I like the latches on the Best Pet kennels. They have a little "crook" on the end that prevents the latch from sliding open accidently. But it is easy for a human to open and close. I am an older woman and the kennels are easy for me to move around to the areas I desire to put them. They are sturdy, but easy to handle,and have the plastic slide out tray at the bottom for easy cleaning, I was unsure about this Brand at first because the price was so GOOD that I figured something had to be flawed with this kennel but I was very wrong. I do think it is a good idea to buy a couple of extra plastic trays or if you are crafty cut a piece of heavy duty plastic to have on hand when you change out a tray for cleaning. Plastic is just plastic so a heavy dog could cause damage to the tray .But the trays I got with my kennels are not flimsy at all. The kennel comes with a plastic handle that can be attached at the top. I live in a rural and at night the coyotes and other undesirable critters come out and I have had problems with Tom cats just mauling my young cats. So now I can put my kittens or young cats and puppies in kennels at night and I don't have to worry and fret about what is happening in the dark to them. Also, this will save me money in Vet bills. The cost of just one of the large kennels is about the cost of an office visit to the vet so I am very pleased to wake up each day and know that all of my "babies" are safe and happy. Included with the kennel is a wire divider that can be put in the kennel so you can keep pets separated from each other. I had one particular cat that had an injury that seemed to outsmart me and escape from any cage I tried to keep her in. She can't get out of this Best Pet kennel. I will buy a couple more of the 42 inch size kennels to have on hand because the price and quality is so great and I plan to buy a couple of the smaller wire ones to transport cats and pups to the vet in. I find the plastic cat carriers to be attractive but not so practical when you have a heavy cat or a "wild" cat or unhappy dog that needs an injection from the vet before it can be removed from the carrier to be tended to. I bought the medium size crate for my husky/pit bull mix. It got here super fast and was undamaged. All the parts fit and instructions were easy to follow. I was glad it came partially assembled. I put it together by myself and that is saying alot, because as a 60 year old woman it was pretty heavy! I did zip tie the top shut and also use a plastic coated tie out cable to reinforce the door. I was unsure the locks would remain shut if he wanted to get out. My dog seems to appreciate the space inside the crate. I was worried about the floor wiring, so I put a thick, flat quilt in there to cover it. I have been using it for 5 days and so far, it has been good. I am happy he has more space and the strength of the crate seems to be good. I suppose we shall see over the long haul, but at this point, it's working well. I would recommend this product to anyone and I'm saving up to buy 2 more for my other big dogs. I wish this was the first crate I bought for my dog. She wrecked 2 of the wire metal crates and even escaped from one. I have no idea how she damaged the other crates without hurting herself in the process. NOW! I do not worry about that. She tries to chew on the bars but only manages to peel some of the dark coating off. She is 60 lbs and she shuffles her bedding around a bit but she can not bend the bars or move the placement of the crate in any way. Two of the bars were bent during shipping so one of the screw placements does not align. But that has not decreased the integrity of the crate at all. This crate has made me a lot more relaxed to know that when I leave the dog is safe. It's also really easy to collapse and fold up and to add or remove the wheels. I purchased this kennel five years ago. When I rescued our Border Collie they told me she would escape every kind of kennel. And I thought, “She won’t break out of a metal kennel.” Well, she tore through two metal kennels, bent them beyond use, and hopped or walked them across rooms!! So, I began the search. I bought this steel kennel, with two action locking, and “Bailey” could not get out of it! She had a horrible first year of life and now we have been loving on her for five years. She is still afraid of men. And now Bailey uses her steel kennel as her “Safety Place”. If we have company over or a repair man come in, she “tells” them what she thinks, Ha, and then retreats to her kennel. We just returned from a 42 day vacation where we slept at different KOAs and hotels and the kennel came with us!! We simply loaded it in the back of the truck and she knew she was safe everywhere we went. It’s on rollers so no problem getting it in and out. I have the 36” size. I’m a lady, 5’3”, in my 60’s and I can handle moving the kennel. It’s a bit heavy I admit, but once it’s on the ground it rolls like a charm. Definitely worth every penny!Debi C.M.

My husband and I got a puppy from the pound. She was only 2 months old when we brought her home. Using this crate for the first year help us keep our home intact! she would only be put in the crate when we were gone, that way we knew she was safe and not getting into trouble chewing furniture or peeing in the house. those two door design is fantastic! I have two of this size (one door model). I have had these things for ohhh, 10 years…I raised three rotty's in them and kept various rescues of all animal kinds in them until I could get them off to rescue people over the years. They did duty in the barn area for poultry for most of the last 6 years and got messed on all over the place, were damp in the winter and were used like tables with a board on top. Ended up with another rescue that might stay…looked at em all poultry encrusted and dusty and cobwebby and shook my head thinking they're done. They have been through the wringer the last 6 years. I realized I really don't have the money to buy new so decided to try to clean them up as a futile attempt to not have to buy more. I had to at least try. 2 hours ,a bucket of warm soapy water, a scrubby , washcloth and a hose later…OMG. They cleaned up GREAT. The handles of the latches were slightly slightly rusty here or there where the black coating flaked off (about the only place it has flaked off and then only small spots), the metal tubes that connects the panels together a little dull, pitted and slightly rusty here or there and that is IT! They still work just fine and they look award winning good considering where they have been. If not for the latches and the connector pieces they could pass as gently used items despite what they have been through. So essentially, if you want a solid, quality crate that is priced reasonably and WORTH every darn penny….go with precision crates. One precision crate could very likely last you all of your adult life if you stayed with the same size dog. As it is now we have the two x lrgs, 1 mediumish, and 2 for 30 lbs or less dogs. And because I am so impressed with what I have,….I'm going to be buying this X-lrg 2 door version to fit in a spot where a single door crate won't work in my house. Remember- Don't throw away an extra crate that is in working order, donate it to someone who can't afford a crate or find a rescue group that needs it (crates are good for lots of different animals).Windchyme

Finally, after buying several different brands that boasted 5-stars ratings and returning each one because of its sharp, unfinished wire ends/edges, this one arrived! No sharp edges! More expensive than others, but if it saves me from a vet/pet hospital visit because a wire stabbed my pet, it is well worth the money! Feels heavy and sturdy; but still portable.Arno

We have tried many Kennels/Crates for our dog, she suffers from Anxiety and nothing has kept her as safe as this kennel. Any metal kennel, regardless of how indestructible it has advertised to be, we have come home to a scraped up bleeding dog that is out in the house and destroying things. She is a pitbull and she chews through anything. The kennels that are plastic with the metal grates on the side she chews on the door and breaks the metal on the sides and at this point has ruined her teeth. We have put her in the Ruff Land Performance kennel twice, once for two hours, great success and once for an entire day. She was calmer, and no blood or destruction to the crate. Wish I had seen this crate 9 years ago. Another feature we like is that it has a flat floor, rather than one that is either metal grating or has a few round circles protruding to allow stacking of kennels. We are amazed and so thankful to have this crate. I would recommend this crate to any dog owner. I can't say enough good about it.Diana B

We tried the reinforced wire crates with no success. If he could get out, he would. The next step was possibly getting those ultra reinforced crates that cost almost a thousand dollars and almost require financing. This has been the perfect compromise. It’s sturdy and durable. It obviously has a little weight to it, but it’s definitely manageable. Hands down if something happens to this crate that isn’t caused by our dog, I’ll buy it again and again.Jennahboo92

My chabrador (chow-labrador mix) has plenty of space to turn around and lay down in this kennel. He is kenneled while I'm working, and he easily goes to lay down when it's time for me to leave in the morning. At night and on the weekends, my rat terrier likes to claim this kennel as her own spot. Very sturdy and fairly light weight. Not too wide, so it's easy to find a place to make space for this kennel.Shane

I just received this cage and the pan is broken, the bottom of the cage is bent. Wrote to the company as i want to return it and not sure i want a replacement ,it is really poorly made. Wish i could return it to Walmart ( my mistake i shouldve read more carefully )Now it looks like i'll have to pay to return. Would never buy from them again. The box that the cage came in wasn't damaged – so they packed already damaged cage ! Really upset about it as the price was ok.Galina

I have bought several crates, several different brands. I prefer the single latch, this crate is very well made. However the I crate is heavier. I have french bulldogs and like both brands. The tray is very good quality and the door opening is a little undersized but not bad. Overall I would buy this crate again. It is lighter weight and very portable. Happy with this crate.573ranch

I returned this because I didn't realize it had a metal tray and I thought it would rust and be chilly for a puppy we have coming. (It's winter time as I write this review.) Also I didn't find the handle that's mentioned. I would say the quality is medium by today's standards which let's face it are crappy. The gauge on this would be fine for a smaller dogs like Westies, Mini Schnauzers, Mini Poodles. The door hooks have a curve at the end which would make them secure. If you don't mind the metal tray you would probably find this satisfactory.UrbanHerbivore

The 3 dog boxes are great! Well made and so easy to transport the dogs in the crates now. You do need to cover the bottom of the boxes, either with mats or garage flooring.Connie R.

Please be aware that this product will take weeks to get. Bass Pro advised an arrival date, and that date came and went. I contact them, and they advised if you scroll down it states that it is a drop ship item. So it was in the fine print, but should be shown during checkout/shipping. Bass pro advised that I would just have to wait, and nothing I could do to track it. The customer service lady was very nice, and stated this problem happens and nothing is done about it. I then contacted Owens direct, and they were able to locate it via the Bass Pro order number. Just a headache I wish I was aware of, and hope you are now too.BeAware

Our 25 pound dog likes to jump on top of his crate. So this new crate is not up to that. He’s already broken it. Maybe this is not what the crate is designed for but still think it should last longer than a week. I gave two stars instead of one because the crate is not advertised as being able to withstand a dog jumping on top of it. But still come onKeeeef

We purchased two of these kennels. Not because we have so many dogs as there are only two teacup poodles in our home, we’re planing on breeding them in another year or so thus we’ll be in need of separate quarters. These have a divider that can be used or not. For now we don’t need the division, but we may in a year… The kennels were easy to set up and all doors operated as designed. All in all we’re happy with our purchase and would recommend this model kennel.H Forrest

I use this in my office building for my French Bulldog, its a perfect size and the set I bought came with the little cushion that goes at the bottom. The 2 doors are nice so you can arrange it an way you want in your house it is very sturdy yet collapsible in case you need to travel a bit. The tray at the bottom slides out easily for messes ect. Over all very happy with this crate!ivy.b
