Large Caterpillar Dog Toy For Sale (2024 Update)

I bought and reviewed this 2 months ago, and am ordering a second one to put back in case something happens to the original! Our Collie pup is 5 months old now, and this caterpillar is her very favorite toy – she plays with it All. The. Time. And sleeps with it. It's a soft, plush toy, but she hasn't torn it up – even though our terrier mix ripped open the head section (the segments are sewn individually, so the rest of the caterpillar is still intact) After two months of licking, biting, tugging, and snuggling, this toy is still in good shape – soft, plush, and bright.OhioMichelle

We've gone through 2 of these already. Well, not really. Our Golden just chews open the head and takes out the "grunter" and pulls off the "antennae." The rest of the body is intact and believe me they both get LOTS of ROUGH play time from our 65lb angel. Just ordered her 2 more for Christmas (please keep a surprise). This is the ONLY toy of which I have ever ordered duplicates. She loves it that much! If she's laying down all I have to do is get out "Pillar Pillar" and she's ready for play. This has a grunter, rattle, and crinkle in the head and numerous (about 5 or 6) squeakers throughout the body.Zubes

We have 3 dogs – 2 x adult working German Shepherds and a 6 month old pet Mastif. The balls were used as a training reward (thrown to the dog not used to tug) squashed by jaws of the 6 month Mastif – end of ball – squashed by 6 year old German shepherd ruined . My Carmine loves his Bumi. This makes number two for him. He had a horseshoe which was his favorite thing and these Bumi are a great replacement. We loves to bring it to me for a fling across the yard or a good game of tug tug. Some times he just wobbles it around by the center point like he’s really doing something. Well made. The opportunity presented itself for me to try out the Bumi dog toy, produced by West Paw. This particular toy is one of West Paw's newest dog toys. Bumi, makes an exceptional toy for tug of war. It is made of Zogoflex. Zogoflex is a strong, malleable material that is suppose to withstand unfavorable conditions. Those conditions being my dog's sharp teeth, his powerful grip, and his action in thrashing it all over the yard as he is playing. Well, I went outside and introduced him to the Bumi. He wasn't excited like I thought he would be. At first, that was disappointing. He would not play tug of war with me. Instead, he liked running and fetching the Bumi back to me. The Bumi is a light weight, "S" shaped, bouncy toy that is easy to throw for fetching. It also travels a bit further than most toys due to these traits. It is non-toxic, BPA and Phthalates free ( Phthalates is a chemical used to soften PVC plastics). These substances can cause damage to the kidneys, liver, lungs, and testes according to animal research. Not all dog toys are safe and I do not want to risk my dog's health for anything. The Bumi is made to be long lasting and safe for dogs to chew on. I like that he will fetch the toy because it requires him to get up and move. Exercise will be good for him and he is learning a few commands. I gave him a reward and that really motivated him to continue fetching. It looks like my dog will enjoy chewing on this toy for the most part. So far, it has held up well.When he puts his mouth on it, he grips it in the middle section, where it has a ball like shape. I suppose it's because this is the first time he has had a toy like this. Usually, he retrieves balls and other round toys so this toy is fun and easier for him to grip. This toy is made in the USA and it was made to last a long time. The chewing action is good for his gums and teeth. The Bumi floats in water and can be easily washed or placed in the dishwasher. Lastly, I was impressed with the fact that if the Bumi comes apart it can be returned to West Paw company for a new one. The West Paw Company made this toy so it can be recycled if returned. It's a great toy for my dog and with it being recyclable, it is good for us and our environment. I don't think a dog owner could go wrong in purchasing this new innovative toy by West Paw.DD

Over the past 17 years, we've had 3 dogs and have bought hundreds of toys over those years. None of our dogs were very rough with their toys, so we've had 3 baskets full of gently used dog toys. All 3 dogs have since passed away, the last one in June of 2020. So, in September of 2020 we got a mini Goldendoodle puppy. Since we still had the 3 baskets full of toys that were in good condition from our other dogs, our new puppy, "Bowie" has had tons of toys to play with. The big difference is that Bowie is NOT gentle with his toys!! He is a power chewer who not only tears toys apart, he will actually consume the stuffing!! I've had to take every toy away from him after a day or two due to his weird appetite! I NEVER leave him alone with a toy. But there is one toy from that bunch that he absolutely loves and is still in excellent condition. So, thankfully, I was able to find the name of the company stamped into this toy, and I immediately searched the internet for the company West Paw (praying that it was still around). I was ecstatic to find their website, and there I saw his beloved toy – the "Bumi"!!! I was also surprised to see it listed as a toy for gentle chewers! I saw that almost all the reviewers mentioned that their dogs were more like Bowie – power chewers. The other thing about the Bumi is that it makes Bowie do the Zoomies all around the house whenever he plays with it. It makes him crazy! So, the added benefit is the exercise he gets when he plays with it, and there is still not a single bite mark on it! This has been a great toy. Our small pups love playing with it because the sound it makes is perfect! The sound is not too loud & seems to be great for small dogs. it rolls around almost like a ball, and is soft just like a stuffed toy! First off my dog has a weird obsession with hedgehogs. I don't know why, but he loves them and has every hedgehog toy that probably exists. He also has a weird obsession with toys that we say "have homes". So like all the Zippypaw toys that are toys within a toy like this we refer to them as having a home(and yes by we I mean my dog and me). So, it's always where are your hedgehogs and their home. He loves to pull the hedgehogs out, and take care of them like they're his babies(he's weird). Then he likes that we can put them back in their home so that his hedgehog babies are safe. I actually have this product in a slightly different style, but same idea. Instead of the hedgehogs and stump its a barn with little piggies. With that out of the way, I have to say my dog really enjoys this. If the rating was only based on my puppy I would give them a 4 star, but because its just too cute it gets an extra star! Unfortunately one of the squeakers in the pigs is already broken (and we haven't had it very long) which is unfortunate, but not really a big deal. my little guy likes to carry the whole barn around and shake it until a pig flies out. The little stuffed animals are the perfect size & the heavy furry fabric makes them more durable. Easy to throw and goes a long way. The holes allow my big boy to pick it up without biting holes in it, so it lasts well. I have had one of these for a couple of years and haven't had to replace it yet – still his favorite toy to play with at the park 🙂 Most other toys he destroys within three to four weeks, so great to find something he loves that is durable.fallen1_32

Nicky is a 35 pound black lab mix and this duck is his favorite stuffed toy. He takes it all over the house and he takes it to bed with him. It is very sturdy. We got our first caterpillar as a hand-me-down from a pup who had passed, and it is the favorite toy in the household now! The best part is there are no limbs to rip off, so Katie caterpillar has lasted months longer than any other toy! The only reason we need a new one is that the squeakers are FINALLY giving out. The company calls it "heavy duty" but It didn't last at all. Photo is after about ten sessions of playing fetch-the-frisbee. I never left him alone with it or allowed him to freely chew on it. I kept it in a closet out of reach when not actively playing with it. Damage was done because he was able to bite through it just in the time it took him to catch it and bring it back to me.Ruthie356

Purchased this Chuckit! and am very disappointed. Within two weeks of play it started to fall apart. Mind you, this was not something we let our dog chew, it was only used for fetch. He is a 90 lb German Shepherd which shouldn't make a difference and if it does the company should say so.River Nana

This is the best frisbee we have used yet! Our 10 month old shepherd/lab mix is hard on every toy or bone we have given her. This one has lasted the longest so far, we throw and she fetches it. I bought this one as a back up for when the first one is no more!Happybargainshopper

My two labs are really hard on their fetch toys. Most frisbees are destroyed after one play session. They like to play tug-of-war. These frisbees are the best we have found in that they last a couple weeks. They're heavy and don't fly well, so we roll like a tire. I'm still looking for a tougher product, but for now this is the best we've found and my dogs love the rubbery ridges around the outside.CDRoam

I purchased 2 of these toys in the past and other than having to stitch up a chewed off ear on one of them, they survived our GSD/Husky mix and our Golden Retriever for over 7 years and they left them in the yard in the weather, chewed them regularly and drug them around our property. Within 10 minutes of giving this new one to our Shiba Inu/Husky mix, he had chewed through the fabric and gutted it. Not impressed.tstoffer5gbo

This toy in indestructible! my russell terrier loves it. it's made of a canvas type material and has a squeaker inside. you and your puppy can tug and pull and toss and catch for years. I know because I bought a Fat Cat toy (catfish- had a cat face and fish body) over 15 years ago and it still is the favorite toy in our house. you can wash these in the washer too.shawna.b
