We purchased this toy prior to picking up our 9week old Chihuahua puppy. Fortunately this toy is tiny, and I do mean TINY, so it fit her size perfectly. We removed the rope from the bone in order to use them as two separate toys, and while the long rope was a huge hit for playing tug-o-war (especially when we want to avoid any mishaps with her razor sharp puppy teeth), the goodie bone smelt strongly of rubber. Even after washing it many times, sticking it in the freezer to entice her with cold on her gums, and sticking treats in the sides, she just wasn't interested and immediately was a master at popping any treats out and ignoring the actual bone. I don't see this as a total loss as she does enjoy the rope, and I will continue to look for ways to interest her with the bone, but I do think there are better options out there.Georgia

I bought this Red Goodie Bone plus the Purple Kong Quest Bone to have a choice of toys for our little puppy to chew on. I gave him the Quest toy first but the treat holes were easily torn away after about a day and I had to throw it out to stop him eating the broken bits. When I swapped over the this Goodie bone, it's been a much better experience. Kong's usual toys made from the red rubber have always stood up to lots of chewing and never seem to bore my dog. This particular bone is perfect for adding treats into the ends to keep him amused for longer. I definitely recommend steering clear of any other chew toys (including some Kong spinoffs) and sticking to the range of Kong red or black chew toys if you have a relentless chewer.
My girl loves her frozen kong treats, I thought this would be a fun challenge. I found there are only very specific types of treats that fit in the holes on either end of this bone, and the \"tines\" inside the holes grip treats pretty tightly. I froze some wet food and treats overnight, but found my pup was only able to get her tongue a short way into each opening, and could never get the treats from the middle – she lost interest and gave up much faster than the traditional kong. I might suggest this for holding bully sticks or chews, but not for smaller or frozen treats.Frannie the dog
Leo is an extreme chewing Staffy and after a few days he was chewing pieces off it. After a week, he has it in a million pieces. This is definitely not for extreme chewers. Also, not worth the money as it lasted just as long as the rubber bone from Kmart. When I initially got it out of the packaging, I tried to bend it. And well, it flopped around like a hotdog. Just really flimsy to begin with so I didn't have the highest hopes that it would last very long. May the search for an extreme chew toy continue! We gave it to our 10 year old cavoodle, she is not a chewer. The material is too soft for a dog that chews. But overall great product we put food in it and freeze it for our dog and we wash the quest bone in the dishwasher. Is not big enough for a full meal even in the large size but still overall great. Put cheese in it and keeps our schnauzer busy for 15-20 minutes — enough time for us to eat lunch or supper. I bought the small size for my groodle because last time I bought a large kong product it was hugeee, this one is quite the opposite. It is TINY!! I'd image the only breed of dogs the small would suit is very small-small breeds, like cavaliers, toy breeds, terriers, chihuahuas, etc. I wish I had this advice for myself. You can also slide the bone to one side and play that way instead. I think this toy would be a lot better if the rope were longer. We have a tough chewing scottie mix and this particular bone lasted about a month. It seemed to clean his teeth well and it did its job for the time however it did fall apart and became somewhat dangerous as he could have digested some of it however we were thankful watching when it happened and were able to stop him. I am super happy with this toy. My cocker spaniel loves squeaky toys but always destroys the squeaker part within 5 minutes. She has had this toy for nearly a month and it is all still in one piece! Took less than 10 minutes for my dog to pull the yellow covering off. When I called Kong, they told me, "It's not a chew toy." What, they think dogs hold toys in their paws to play? Beware, most Kong toys are now labelled "Not a chew toy" which means they are not guaranteed against your dog damaging them with his mouth. I watched some videos on how to use them for training purposes and have learned how to stuff them in a way that keeps my dogs entertained for a long time. I use a combination of kibble, canned dog food, and other healthy food options, layer it all in the Kong, then freeze. My dogs are stupid excited to see me pull these out of the freezer. I always buy a size larger than I think I need to ensure my dogs don’t choke or get their tongues stuck and that’s worked out great. Very happy with these, we have about 12 of them. Amazing! Amazing at entertainment for my dog. Love how we can stick big treats in there and keep him busy whenever we have to leave the house. I think it's a must for training your dog. Be sure to replace it whenever there is damage. As I know a friend's dog had a piece of Kong stuck in his intestine and had to get surgery to remove it. So best to keep the toy until you notice any wear or tear. I like how it has multiple sizes and has really good durability.. this is a really good investment for your dog! We have found many creative ways to entertain our husky/German shep/malamute mutt who has high energy and high affinity to treats. 10/10 would recommend. There's also some Kong specific treats you can find meant to fit into the toy to make it very difficult for the dog to remove it. We like that there is a lot of creative ways to use it. We had two on rotation for when our puppy was teething and needed a lot of attention. Frozen treats allowed for the pup to work on the kong. We use it at home mainly but we do bring it over to our friends house when our dog is staying the night because we are out of town. It's just another tool they can use if they find he needs to calm down and focus instead of rambunctious and playing.terri.n
My dogs had this for about a year. He’s a 22 lb Italian Greyhound mix who isn’t destructive (the pic attached is him 🥰). I included this information because I can’t vouch for the durability if you have a chewer. The material seems durable though. It does have a rubber smell that is kind of annoying and it takes a long time to go away. If you’re sensitive to smell you might want to avoid this. It seems to smell the most like rubber when you wash it. It’s easy to wash. I use a little bit of dish soap and hot water to wash it after every use. You don’t have to use the Kong spray in this. You can fill it up with whatever treat/food you want.simply.b
