K9 Advantix Ii Large Dog Instructions For Sale (2024 Update)

I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either.)shelly.c

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I have no proof of that. I just wanted to make others aware that these things happened after the dosing though.pamela.g

I use advantage on my dogs and cats every month. In a state where fleas are inevitable because of the heat, this product has been my saving grace. When you are treating your animal for the first time it's important to read the directions. An infestation should be treated 2 weeks later, then monthly after. It's also important to treat your home and/or yard to help prevent eggs that have already been laid from hatching. Furthermore, the weight of your animal should be known to use the correct amount. Too little will not give the correct protection. Lastly, skipping monthly treatments will be vital to constant protection so it's extremely important to treat monthly. I will also add that I have 3 dogs and 9 cats that live flea free because of this product. Happy animals, happy life.Mizangel07

Recommended by our vet to combat the Highland ticks, as well as for fleas, this product is very effective. For the most part, ticks are put off before they bite and those that do latch on are quickly killed and drop off again. No fleas either. Have some difficulty getting through the dogs' dense undercoat to find enough skin to apply the liquid, but that is the same for all spot-on products. Only real drawback is that it shouldn't be used in households with a cat – fortunately we are between cats at the minute.Donna Y

Although I needed to get and pay for a prescription from my vet, having tried Advantix for my dog, and Irish Setter, before I knew just how effective it is but wanted to pay less for it than my vet charges. The cost of the prescription can be defrayed over the three orders that I can make on one prescription so I get a very effective treatment at a significantly reduced cost overall. Untreated my dog picks up ticks readily especially when in bracken, heather and general moorland environments, but Advantix provides tick effective repellence as well as treatment for fleas etc.Robert S

Overall satisfaction level: good. No bad reactions from my chihuahuas. I use a syringe to dispense the correct dose for each size dog so the large size dog package is economical and lasts a good while. It seems to be fast acting but loses potency after a couple of weeks. I seem to recall other products lasting longer, maybe a whole month. I pour these tubes into a tiny glass vial. Then I use a needle-less syringe to draw up a cat-sized dose depending on the cat's weight. I apply it to my cats. I save a lot of money this way. Advantage 2 for dogs has exactly the same ingredients as the flea medicine for cats. (Do NOT do this with other brands of dog treatment. Always check labels first… and learn how much your own cat needs before applying it.) I've used Advantage 2 for many, many years. It has never failed my cats. They simply do not get fleas. I've never had a flea in my house. I treated my neighbor's flea-bitten dog last month. The poor creature was crawling with flea. After Advantage 2, the fleas were gone the next day. This product works great on dogs and cats, says no cats but it is the same ingredients as the dogs, have been using this for years on both. I buy the Large dog size and cut the tops off and pour in a old medicine vial then I use a 3cc syringe to suck it up. Cats I put about 1/2 a cc which is 1/2 of 1 cc . It does does not take much and use about this much on my little dogs too. Larger dogs I use about 2cc and NEVER DO THEY HAVE FLEAS and it last way longer. This product has always been my go to Flea & Tick choice. It has always worked wonderfully for me. But this year, I dont know what happened but it is just not working for me anymore. Days and into a week after application even, the dogs are still itching and chewing on themselves…this stuff is not cheap, especially when you have multiple dogs.I have bought it twice this year already and neither time has it worked. I know there are other products that say they work and are a lot less expensive but I've been using K9 Advantix II for years and I plan on using it as long as I have dogs! We lived in the city and never found a flea on the dogs after using Advatix. Not on the dogs, in the house, or in the yard. Now we live in the country and there are a LOT of ticks… but none on the dogs. The couple that actually attach per year are dead when we find them. We have 5 dogs from chihuahua to a 100 lb Great Pyrenees mix and it works from tiny to extra large. We have a dog door and the dogs have the run of the house, the pasture and the woods so the dogs are exposed to ticks every day. The only issue I've had that I wish I didn't was the application spots are itchy the first couple days on all the dogs. But with protection like this a couple of days of irritated spots each month far outweigh years of being a flea/tick taxi!Country L

This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

This product is supposed to contain 2.5 ml per vial for the "large dog" size. I bought several that appeared short, so I measured the volume. The 3 vials measured (2 different packs) were closer to 2ml per vial. Therefore, there is a question about the efficacy of the volume/rate provided. I really like the active ingredient combination in the generic and the premium Bayer product, and prefer it helping prevent mosquito-vectored illnesses, in addition to fleas and ticks. However, the reduced volume is a problem–not what the EPA approved. Also, it is odd that our 32 and 42 pound dogs both qualify as "Large Dogs," but that category description conforms with the strange category of Advantix II, the name brand product.BLUF

I tried this no for 2 years. 1st year I only found one engorged tick. this year I've seen 5. engorged. after three monthly treatments. 3 I removed myself, 2 dropped on my floor. though I have not found any fleas what so ever. I'm done with this product. I'm opting for a chewable oral prevention. I read they're more effective then topical meds.Djcountry

I started purchasing Advecta 3 around April of this year. I have a Pitbull/St Bernard mix that has horrible flea allergies. I have tried every flea med on the market and Advecta is the only one he hasn't had any type of reaction to!! I'm so impressed with this product.. he had hair missing around his but and was chewing his tail and feet. Since using Advecta he has stopped all chewing and the constant scratching, he has a beautiful coat. I usually apply every 25 days because between the first application and second was 30 days and I did find a couple fleas but that's not a biggy. I have a large Maine coon and knew I could not use just any spray. I had tried cheap flea drops and they did nothing. My big guy, 20 pounds and 3 feet of pure muscle, was unaffected by the drops and continuing to become more and more miserable. ENTER SCENE: ADVANTAGE! My husband and I tried this as a last shot before shelling out the money for a vet groomer flea bath. Well, as we are spraying this all over the big guy, the fleas were jumping ship, becoming paralyzed, and doing everything possible to get away from this stuff! A disgusting amount of fleas were pulled from his fluffy self and a million fleas were dead on the floor. I recommend putting paper towels down on the floor before starting so the clean up is easy. Also, we used one full can on our big guy in that one application so STOCK UP! I'm telling you, the look he gave me after spraying him was one of gratitude and relief. If spraying around the house or perimeter of your rugs you don’t need much. I sprayed the baseline of my Chihuahua (behind neck down to tail) and realized it was a bit much. It worked but not immediately. The purpose of my use was for flea eggs I spotted and some live ones on my dog as well. I recommend a flea bath first then the spray. It does have a strong smell. The can was gone in a single use. So again, reminder you don’t need to spray as much as you may think. It works!Taco2012

After several months and hundreds of $ worth of flea products, baths even shaving my golden retriever I couldn't get the fleas under control. An inside pet only going outside for short periods. Florida heat makes it hard to rid the fleas outdoors. No matter what I did he only had a couple days of relief. So I tried Advantus chews. Within 5 hours of giving my dog the 1st Advantus chews the fleas were dying! Right before my eyes! It's been 16 months and it's the only product I trust!Tami

These soft chews have worked miracles for us. Our inside dog used to constantly come in with fleas and no matter the treatment of baths, collars, dips, etc., nothing would bring her full relief. Last year we saw these on sale and decided this would be a good time to try them. We gave her one and what a difference! Within an hour she went from infested to only a few and given a couple more hours those remaining had all died too. She was completely flea free. We haven’t had an infestation since. We now use it when we see a couple on her (which is ever few weeks during the summer and every other month during the winter). Absolutely useless product. I am aware this is only useful for 24 hours. My dog enjoyed eating it as a treat but other than that it's useless! It did absolutely nothing in 24 hours if anything it seemed like it made it worse! All it seemed to do was irritate the fleas and make them bite more! Also another thing to note after taking this my dogs were extremely extremely thirsty like I've never seen before! Please beware and don't waste your money on this useless product like I did pay the extra 20 dollars and go buy a soresto collar.V

My poor boy. The fleas love him. I can give him a flea bath every day and he's still infested. After trying daily baths, over the counter remides treating my yard and topical treatments, nothing worked so I decided to try a oral treatment. I swear by this. After one treatment I would find fleas on my bed (he jumps up on my bed when I'm not looking because I didn't want to share his unwanted friends) my blanket was covered…. of dead or dying fleas. 1 TREATMENT people. Since I do have two big dogs I will be spending the money monthly. Works great and we'll worth it. And my dogs eat the treatment with no issues.Joanne McCullough

I wanted this to work so bad because my dog is highly allergic to fleas and shreds himself up even when he has the topical flea prevention. Even if a dog around him has fleas he breaks out (our neighbor dog has fleas so my poor pup get around them). I saw this and wanted to try to give him some relief to my itchy pooch. The first day, I saw 3 fleas on my dog and purposefully left them on there to see if it worked. I came back in an hour and they were still there. I figured since it says up to 4 hrs I would wait. Later in the day I checked him, fleas still there. So I thought may it took some time for his body to get accustomed to it. The next day same story, he went outside in the morning I checked him saw he has some fleas, gave him a pill checked him about an hour and a half later, fleas are still having a party. Let it set for the rest of the afternoon and checked him before dinner, still the fleas are alive and kicking. 3rd day same story. At this point I can see it isn’t working and I wasted the $25 it costs for it. At least I didn’t spend the $50 for the month. Look at the reviews and notice several of us back to back have rated it the same so obviously something is wrong here. Avoid and save your money and spend it on the more expensive one!Kate

I've sued this for years on our tiny poodles and it works great. They never get fleas, never get sicks from use. The only draw back it the dog smells for about 24 hours. You might not want to pet them agressively during that time.Oregon2017

Not as expected. I have 3 dogs that weigh between 4 to 7 pounds. Followed instructions and had to reapply after 2 weeks as mentioned. I continued picking off old and new fleas until the next dose was due. And it's the same thing. Picking fleas all the time. And this is the second 6 count box (expensive!) So I have given it a fair shot.Karla

Absolutely the worst flea control ! Not only did it not work but now I have a cat that may be on seizure medication for life ! Horrible is not even strong enuff words to describe this so called flea control I followed and did everything as directed,with absolutely no results! All I got out of this is a cat that was healthy the day I put this on her is now on seizure medication ! My suggestion is consulting a veterinarian for help with a flea problem ,I know I will definitely from this point forward!!!!Sherry Harding

I normally use Frontline Plus but I couldn't find it at the store and I reviewed this product compared to Frontline. The packaging said that it is just as good the only difference was Frontline was more available. Well, I put this on my dog and he still has fleas I used it for another month and he is worse with fleas this is the worst flea and tick medicine I've ever used. I recommend that you do not buy this product.Elaine Cartwright

This worked on all 3 dogs for approx. 1 week, we are now @ 19 days and fleas are attacking them all. We've treated and washed bedding, sprayed house and outside. Fleas aren't bothering the humans just the dogs. I had high hopes when I saw it was made by Capstar, but am now so disappointed.Dawna

I tried this product last month for the first time -previously I used the original Effitix. It worked well and is an affordable solution since I have 4 small Shih Tzus. I recommend this product.Joyce B

This works great for both dogs. We live deep in the woods in Maine where there are TONS of ticks. My dog groomer always notices that my dog is the only dog she doesn't have to pull ticks off of – as long as his Effitix treatment is on him.Claire M
