We got the large size for our 50 pound pound hound and it fit perfectly. The adjustable straps let us fit her chest just right for a secure and comfortable fit. I like the grab handle if we have to restrain her from trying to pull away. The front and back rings gives leash options. The sturdy quality of the harness makes it appear it will give us long service. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.lpowell51

I am more or less happy with this product but think the velcro that goes around the front of the chest is on wrong as I have had to fasten it behind rather than in front. It is ok now I have adjusted it a lot of times to get it fitted right. Apart from that, this is a strong product and helps to control my dog well. The rest of the harness is great. This harness was much better than the soft one we were gifted and our pup is so much happier putting it on, before her tail would go down and we had to drag her out, this is much improved now. Can be in place on the dog in a matter of a few seconds without distress to the dog, or the owner. Feels secure in use and gives good control. Far more comfortable for your pet with no pulling on neck area, so important with very small dogs.paulwoodcraft

The medium Kurgo harness fits my 23 pound dog well. The harness itself is incredibly sturdy – I was actually surprised by how “heavy” it is. The blue color is nice and the reflective material is an added bonus. The harness slips on over the dog’s head then buckles closed on each side. So far, it has been very easy and fast to put it on and take it off my dog. The leash clips are positioned in such a way (middle of back) that makes it easy to walk the dog without her choking herself (a problem we have with our old harness) from pulling. The harness is a bit stiff, however, so it’s not good for car rides where dog needs to lie down for long periods. The only concern we have is the loops to clip the leash to don’t seem as sturdy as the rest of the harness. The are a thinner aluminum that bends easily. Overall, I am impressed with this harness and recommend it.Ndanip

I love Kurgo products and think they are great quality, but was disappointed in this harness. If you have a barrel chested dog and want to attach a leash to the front D ring (my pup is a puller, so that was the whole reason we bought this), I wouldn't recommend this harness. I have a 14 month old standard poodle (45 lbs) and we bought a medium as she fit smack dab in the middle of those measurements. Unfortunately, the harness just doesn't fit deep-chested dogs. The neck opening is weirdly large and can't be tightened very much so after adjusting the harness to fit her, the front D ring ended up right between her front legs. We couldn't attach a leash to the front ring because she would stumble over it while we walked. Seems like Kurgo could fix this pretty easily by just moving the front D ring higher to be closer to the neck opening, but unfortunately not easy to fix/solve the issue at home. We'll be donating this as it unfortunately doesn't work for us.torvinn

My boyfriend has the Nylon Reflective Journey Air Dog harness (M), which looks like this harness mixed with the Tru-fit harness kind of. I have this Journey Air Dog harness (M) for my GSD/husky mix. We have a couple of issues with this specific model of the Journey harness. She has an athletic build with a pretty deep chest that is also narrow as heck, and due to the longer padding on the top of the chest piece, I'm unable to adjust it enough so that it fits her well. It renders the front D-ring useless, as the harness will pull to the side of her body loosely. Unfortunately, sizing down would mean that it would not be able to fit around the deepest part of her ribcage. The other issue I have with this harness is that I'm nervous it chaffs the back of her armpit area. It's pretty snug up against the backs of her legs–maybe even too snug. I would size up, but then that would exacerbate the issue with the front. I'm almost certain it's an unpleasant experience for her as she runs away when I so much as pick up the harness. I brought up the fact that my boyfriend has this type of harness (but a different/earlier model) because I am able to adjust that one well to my dog. None of the issues present in my harness are present in the other one, likely because of the smaller chest padding. I would go to the Tru-Fit harness for my pup, but we go hiking a bunch, and the handle on the back is a must-have. What is probably the most upsetting is that I cannot find this other model of harness in stock and in the size we need anywhere as of today. I simply cannot recommend this harness if your pup has a narrow chest.2dogs1cat

First the Pros: this harness is durable and I have no doubt it is strong and durable enough to hold my 70lb pittie when needed. It also does a great job of keeping her from pulling when using the chest loop. We love the Ruffwear brand and I (and my dogs) love the sweaters/clothing as they are always cold in temps below 70°. Cons: I watched the video on fitting the harness and every single walk results in raw skin/bleeding/scabs under her armpits (she has very thin fur on her underside) due to the material of the harness rubbing in this area. I also find the buckles a bit difficult to unclip as they are partially hidden inside the attachment area which means you have to squeeze the buckle through the thick harness material to release the clasp. Because of my love of their other products and the front clip feature, I may try to put some padding or softer material in the underarm area to see if that helps.Melissa S.

For the most part I really like this harness. The construction seems sturdy and the color is nice, and it’s very easy to get on and off. That said, I think it could be improved by lengthening the body (the neck to back, if you will). I have two mixed breed dogs who are very similar in shape, size, and weight. I purchased two of these harnesses, one in extra small and one in small. The small is overall a bit too large around, and the small (although ok for girth) is way too short. I am always trying to keep an eye on their underarms and backs of their elbows to make sure they aren’t getting raw spots. I’ve seen the same issue in other reviews, so I don’t think it’s just my dogs. I would also love it if you could purchase extenders in different sizes, because I think often a smaller size is better all around, but doesn’t extend in girth quite enough, while the next size up is too big. The good still outweighs the not perfect though, and I keep coming back to Ruffwear to buy different styles of harnesses!Samantha N.

So, I had been waiting until our pup was close to full grown to invest in this harness, as it's a bit pricier. I really wanted to love this harness SO much and give it the best review, as the quality is fantastic and it's really just an all around durable and beautiful harness!! BUT…… it did not work well for our English Cocker Spaniel Pup. I bought her an XS at our local pet store and we tried it on there to make sure it seemed to fit right, as she is pretty much full grown now. I don't think the XXS would fit her girth properly, so we got the XS, which fits nicely around the chest, but after grooming her puppy fur around the neck, the harness is too loose at its tightest now, and when I use the front hook (which is ideal for training her on the leash), the harness shifts terribly and has caused really awful matting of her fur under her armpits, to the point where I had to stop using the harness. And now I have to cut off all that matted fur under her armpits. We comb and brush her regularly, but she's also active and we hike and swim and have done lots of activity in this harness. It's such a shame, as the front clip was my favorite way to leash train her and I just love the overall look/style of the harness, but I don't think the XXS is going to fit, as I can barely get the XS over her head at it's tightest and then it's too loose at the neck. All that to say, if you have a floofy spaniel pup who likes to pull, you may want to make sure you can get sizing exact and be sure to check the fur constantly. I'm giving this 3 stars because it is a really well made harness, just did not work out well for our ECS. None of my other harnesses have caused matting like this, even when her puppy floof was at it's longest, so I know it's this harness and using the front loop hook and just the fit not working right for her. Looks great, doesn't fit great. I'm so bummed about it. I really wanted to love this harness. I would recommend it to a pup that does not have long fur.Lindsay

This is a reassuringly robust harness. Looking at the size guide, the guidance on harness size for weight of dog shows a large overlap between small and medium. We bought the medium harness. It fitted but the underneath pad came right up to our dogs chin when she was lying down in the car, making it uncomfortable. We decided to buy the small harness to use until the dog fits into the medium one. This is MUCH smaller than the medium harness. It barely fits our dog. I think the design of the harness and its sizing are poor even though its construction is sturdy.0114lecturer

I insist that my dogs be secured when in my truck. Kennels are not an option and most wont hold up in an accident anyway. Having been through numerous harnesses I strongly recommended this one. Its easy to put on and fully protects your pet in the event of an accident.legaleus

The quality is definitely worth the price. However, I have a French Bulldog with a big neck. It is very hard to get the right size. I had to order two and one does not fit because the neck section is NOT adjustable. The other one is way too big overall. It's perfect for other breeds, jurt watch out if your dog has a different body shape.Chiara

My Husky is an escape artist. Every other harness I've had she has escaped from. The Julius k9 however she can't get out of. It is easy to fit and put on/take off. The handle on top is excellent if you need more control. There are also a range of add tons which are very usefulbeloosemor_2

this is the second K-9 harness i have purchased and like the extra features like you can attach panniers to it so your dog can carry his own water and with a little lateral thinking put a flashing light in the handle. i have a chocolate lab that is 12 and find the handle helpful when getting him into the car and find them a better way of controlling him than a collar as he has a damaged windpipe through being chained up by his previuos familyhobgoblin5

As we always had Roy on a neck leash we didn't appreciate a dog harness until we purchased the K-9. we see that he is very comfortable wearing it but also it gives us more control over his movement when walking him without causing him any discomfort whatsoever. Avery good buy!fredchri1

Used it twice…really good quality..and very good if dogs walking forward ….HOWEVER!!!…I almost lost my dog under a car after i met another dog…he got excited and somehow got out of the harness then onto a main road… it was fitted correctly but a dog can still easily get out of it if he tries by pulling backwards. I've tried numerous harnesses and never loved any until this one. I have a miniature rat terrier who is 13.5 lbs. He tends to be too big for mediums and way too small for large sizes. Finally, this harness fits perfectly in Medium! There's even a little room to spare in case he gets larger. We wanted to take off pressure from his neck and the v neck design and light weight, soft mesh is great! It's by far the softest one I've ever felt, and I've tried every one at multiple stores. It's so comfortable that it could be left on all the time even in summer since it's so breathable. My dog lives it too! He seems to feel safe and calmer in it like a thunder shirt makes him feel. The first time I took him on a walk he seemed to feel "free". He was so happy to pounce around without worrying about a jerk in his neck. We give this one 5 stars!!!! I got this in black, size medium from Amazon. She has a 12" neck and a 19" chest. This harness is adjustable around both neck and chest. My pup has a high chase drive and will sometimes pull suddenly. I like that the x-shape doesn't put as much pressure on her throat when she pulls, and the double d-rings and buckle closure feel very secure for her leash. My dog learned to step into the harness on her own if we hold it up for her, too. Very good quality materials that will last a long time.lianna.b

at the suggestion of my neighbor I bought this harness.Online store availability says it was available at the store. Went to this store they did not have the medium size (strike 1). I got small because the last harness I got at Petco last week in a medium was WAY TOOOO big. (which I am unable to return $35 gone). (strike 2 ) Even tho this one is advertised online for $14.99 at the store it was $21.99 and the team member did not know anything about it being lower online. (strike 3) same SKU number on receipt as listed in the online description. I am super impressed with the quality of Julius K-9 harnesses (I own two; the IDC Longwalk as well as the IDC Power) however my rescue dog gets spooked often and can easily pull out of the harness. This is especially a problem with the Powerharness. Therefore I think this harness is best for a dog who can be trusted to not pull away from you while using the harness. If that occurs, it is extremely easy for them to slip out of the harness without much effort.friscobo
