My dogs are pretty respectful of fences, so I didn't need anything heavy duty. It isn't clear from the picture nor the description, but there is a door. I have it upside down on purpose so that I can walk through instead of crawl through the opening. It was so flimsy my 3.5 lb puppy was able to drag it all over and my adult daughter bent over to pick him up barely touching the fence and it caved in with her falling hard to the floor just missing the pup. I love everything about this dog pen, except that one of the panels was missing the upper hinge. I did not want the hassle and wastefulness of returning the entire large and heavy item. I tried to see if I could just get a single replacement panel, but I don't know how to do that. I guess I will just keep it and only use 7 of the panels *Sigh* (If anyone can get a single panel replacement – please let me know!) The raised gate is perfect for not rubbing on the floor and scratching it up. the panels are not too heavy I could construct the pen easily. I love that there are different shapes that you can make with the panels, depending on your space available. If I could give zero stars I would. It has rusted so badly HUGE FLAKES fall off of it. Not only is it now unattractive I worry about the health of my dog. I have used this to host puppy playdates over 2 years. Cannot be happier with purchase. My front yard is not completely fenced; There was a need to fence off, but not permanently as we use front yard for other purposes. Fences are flexible, can be set up in any figures as needed. Once I figure out where to put fences, it takes 10 mins to set up, 10 mins to take down. I initially bought 2 sets, and neighbors and friends praised, and we had so many puppy visitors. That led me to buy 1 more set so the playpen could be bigger. Despite I have 3x sets, once taken down, they store nicely in small tight space on the side of house. Each set comes with 1 panel with a door. Since I have 3x sets, I have 3x panels with door. I set up door fences on three sides of yard for convenience. Summer days, we had playpen every evening. Throughout year, we hosted playpen for every possible occasions; puppy birthday, anniversary, holidays, new puppy debut… We initially worried that some dogs might jump out and run away, but that never happened. Dogs are capable, but wanted to stay inside for fun. We actually had dogs jump in. If you need to just hold puppies around 1 – 3 months, you could buy 1 set. But, if you are planning any meaningful puppy playdate, you will need minimum 2 sets, most likely 3or 4. We ordered this fence/playpen for our puppy as we are not allowed to have a fenced yard in our subdivision. Our dog loves to be outside and enjoys the playpen. She can run, play ball, chew on all sorts of things and roll in the grass all without being in danger from running away. The fence has many options for layout and is easy to set up. If desired, several kits can be put together to make a sizeable play yard for small to medium size pets although it is a good size as is. Our 12 week old sheltie cannot squeeze through the fence in any location. It seems very sturdy and unlikely that she will be able to knock anything over. I leaned against a panel while playing with her and there was very little give to it. The fence is metal so is durable and can be stored flat. The gate has a latch that is on the outside of the fence and not accessible to the dog or other pet. I believe this fence will last us many years for our dog's enjoyment.
