I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. If you want to jeopardize your dog having seizures and kidney failure then use this product. Our 15 year old Dachshund drank this for a month and starting having seizures, muscle weakness, not eating, and the beginning stages of kidney failure. Our dog has suffered from stinky breath forever even though she gets her regular vet cleanings, and we were using another tooth treatment. She’s a beagle / shitzu / pug mix, so she is already genetically doomed in the tooth area anyway, so I’ve always been concerned with her dental health and worried about it leading to other health issues. When I saw this, I was skeptical she wouldn’t notice it in her water. With that beagle nose, she sniffs out even the best tricks I try to pull, but she hasn’t noticed it yet, and the vet recently commented on how amazing we are doing with her teeth. So I have some reservations about this product. If you search other reviews across the internet, you get insane reports about this potentially causing seizures /epileptic episodes, wasting away, eye problems, all kinds of crazy stuff. However, it also does have a fair amount of people preaching that it's legit. The potential side effects are SEVERE, and it doesn't seem like the brand has done much to mitigate those cases or fears?? Knowing all that, I chose to use this for my cat with extreme caution. He gets stinky breath from whenever he eats fish based products (extreme common for cats) but the reason why I'm willing to take any of those risks is because it honestly reminds me of Accutane. I've never had to use Accutane myself, but I know that 1) It's a last resort 2) It is practically guaranteed to work 3) Side effects range from IBS to infertility /severe birth defects. So… my cat's halitosis isn't that severe to illicit the full dose. I use roughly half to a third of the recommended amount in his water fountain (which I highly recommend getting if you don't have one). So at a very low dose, his bad breath has indeed been kept at bay and I monitor his status very closely. This product works, I just strongly recommend using the lowest effective dose (just like with any human medication) and if your pet's breath is so dang stanky you feel like they need the full dose, I highly recommend exhausting all your other options first / supplementing with proper hand toothbrushing / diet changes. Pugs have the same number of teeth as any other dog, except their muzzle is super short, and so all their teeth get mashed together in their stubby muzzles. Certainly by age 7, most dogs will have had a dental, usually due to owners complaining about bad breath. And during the dental, the dog will usually use some teeth. My 7 year old has not needed a dental! Her breath is still fresh, and in addition, she doesn't have the tartar buildup that can so often be seen in dogs over 3 or so. My cocker spaniel rescue has a TMJ-like condition. He can't open his mouth all the way or chew efficiently. Consequently, he has had ongoing gum infections, and has had to have several teeth extracted. We could tell when he was in trouble, because his breath became very noxious. Eventually he would "go sour" even just a few weeks after a dental treatment. Antibiotics did little or no good. After six weeks on the ProBioraPet Probiotic, his breath is still sweet. The vet likes the look of his gums, and he's enjoying his kibble and treats more. I put this in my retrievers food every morning. I have had dogs in the past and their breath was bad enough to kill a buzzard. I found this product since getting my current retriever and at six months old I started putting this in her food. I have seen an improvement compared to my past retrievers of nearly 80% in the smell of her breath. I can go down near her face without passing out from the bad breath. I also have a YorkieBichon and she is a little more picky about her food. And she ate her food for a few years without issue with this product in it, but she recently stopped eating her breakfast. I stopped putting in the Evorapet powder and she started eating again. While the product is odorless to humans, I am not so sure for dogs. So if your dog is picky about what it eats and smells everything before eating, you might want to buy only one container to test it out. OK – you say just brush their teeth. Well, I have tried brushing my dogs' teeth in the past and that is quite a chore. I just let the groomers do that every other month. I highly recommend this product. After we tried ProBiora we were pleased enough with results (kitty's mouth definitely improved) that we subscribed. Unexpectedly, toward end of month our Very-finicky-eater started to avoid her food with ProBiora. Bottom-line: We are in a fact-finding phase where we're trying to confirm whether it is/was ProBiora potentially getting stale or whether our kitty was just being moody. Anyway, we do intend to restart our subscription & make any necessary adjustments since we like the fact of using natural bacteria to keep our kitty's teeth clean, like in the wild, given we confirmed it does work.
