The quality is top-notch, with plenty of clear and illustrated instructions that are really not even necessary as it's so simple to set up. My one and only quibble is that the box opened nearly the full length of the side during shipping. I think the packing tape gave way. All parts were intact and nothing was damaged so just FYI. I'm now going to buy another one of these for the back yard. I was going to transport this one in and out rather than spend the money since it's (I'm hoping) not a life-long need, but while it's so easy to fold and move, it is pretty heavyweight (42") so it'd be a bit of a chore for me to do often. I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. To keep the ex-pen from falling or being moved if I have a rambunctious pup I bungee the corners to furniture or door knobs.HannahB

I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! Good quality for an excellent price. This is very well constructed and is surprisingly easily handled by one person. The entire pen is secured with two included hooks and then can be configured to any shape necessary. This size should provide adequate space for small dogs to enjoy for quite play. The height of this particular size may be overkill for small dogs unless they are agile jumpers. I ordered this for my greyhound for leisurely sunning without needing a leash. The height is adequate but the interior space is just enough for her outdoor bed and her body. I will order another two to provide more area for investigating the outdoors next spring.Sharon

I bought this exercise pen. It was a really good price. I had shopped around and believe you me. It was the cheapest. However it is huge for the tiny puppy that we have in it! I am currently using it indoors. But it does come with u-pegs to help secure it to the ground for outdoor use. I love it!Nathalie

This is a good product, simple to assemble and works as advertised for our 5 pound terrier. Went for the large so there is room for a bed and a wee mat. Product is bulky to ship and came damaged and missing the connectors to hold it together. I solved the problem with cable ties until the vendor shipped me the connectors. They responded well to the issue and shipped me the missing bits. It doesn't have a lid and I didn't want one, but we do put 2 large beach towels over it at night to make it quieter and darker. Spacious and modern & loved that it was metal bars and not plastic. BUT, once it arrived, the package was damaged. Once I opened it, I noticed all the hardware to put it together was missing. We bought this pen for our rabbit and it arrived in a box torn in multiple places and the pieces were sticking out. It also did not come with any instructions or dowel-type things to insert in the corners so it falls over with a light touch. It also has a scratch on the side and a bent rod. We can’t return it as the box arrived ruined and it is far too heavy to carry to a store. We are probably just gonna find something to fill the corners but it is saddening that this cost almost 300$. We were so excited as this had great reviews but it was very disappointing 🙁EM

It's a good size, but the instruction that came with it wasn't helpful at all. I ended using zip ties to secure the fence section alongside the door latch. The rubber rolls that came with it were quite useless. My pup could easily get them off. I recommend you purchase the life touch one instead.K

I like Midwest products as the metal seems to be stronger and last longer than other brands. I have the original ex-pen I bought around 1995 – it's survived 50+ large dogs. I prefer them to crates as the dogs have more room to move around, yet they are easily configured to a smaller shape when potty training. They easier to clean than crates. They fold flat and I can store them next to a fridge or behind a furnace. They work indoors/out and are great mobile containment. For dogs living in fenceless areas (condos) ex-pens can be linked using carabiners/bolt snaps (i.e., dog leash clips) for fencing moveable for mowing/snow removal. They are great for patio surrounds. You can buy metal tops for if a dog needs more containment, but most won't if using a tall enough ex-pen. I've also bought just the metal or plastic crate pans to put under the ex-pen if needed. To keep the ex-pen from falling or being moved if I have a rambunctious pup I bungee the corners to furniture or door knobs.HannahB
I ordered several of these to use as barriers to prevent my young Border Collie from running through the mud in our back yard after it rains. I set them up just off the patio several feet to allow him some space in the grass without giving him free reign of the whole yard to run through. They are very easy to set up, take down, and store! We have been using a dog crate for our Poodle, Freddy, for about 6 years. His crate was getting old and we were offered an opportunity to test this one so we did so. Our dog LOVES his crate. We call it his ""room"" and he spends a lot of time in there, safe from the world. Whenever something scares him, off he runs to his room. The crate is made of a good gauge wire. It is stiff and rigid without being too heavy. The plastic tray is a good thickness and is also rigid. You can remove the tray by sliding it out the bottom. The whole thing folds up nicely and is fairly lightweight to carry. It's easy to relocate your pet's room from the bedroom to the family room or from home to Grandma's house. Once you crate train a dog, you'll wonder why you never did it before. It is so convenient to have a safe place your dog loves to go to. We never worry when we go out, that Freddy will get into something. Because we have him go to his room, eat a peanut butter treat and lock the doors. He's fine until we return when he's eager to get out and go outside. This crate is very good. I like the double doors as does Freddy. He was so happy with it last night, he kept going in one door and out the other, over and over. It was cute. He likes his new room a lot. If you have a dog 15 pounds or under, this crate will work. I bought this for my dachshund puppies to keep them from being underfoot when I need to clean. I was surprised at how sturdy it is. It's so much nicer than it appears in the photos. I love the walk through door so that I can get in or out easily, but the puppies have a barrier to stop them from following. It's simple to add or subtract panels or reshape the playpen into whatever space is available for it. Right now I'm only using 6 panels because it's so big, but I ordered another playpen so that when I want to take it outside I can make a super large play area for them. The bar spacing is perfect. These are excellent quality. They're better quality than I expected. The listing says they weigh 10 pounds but that's an error. They actually weigh 10kg which is 22 pounds. I bought 3 for my ShihTzu and Cairn Terrier. Gives them some room for their constant, rambunctious play. 🙂 They come fully assembled, are extremely easy to set up and easy to move for the lawn care guy. I didn't bother to stake them. My dogs are pretty small and won't be able to knock them over. I also purchased a small 5×5 tent. The combo works well. I just slid the tent poles thru the fencing and used the provided clips. It also comes with stakes. This isn't a permanent situation for us. We only use it a few hours a day so they can be safely confined while I work outside. Has very thin paint coat that chips off. Easily folds accordion style for carrying.
