I debated in rather I wS going to buy this toy or not, but the reviews were good so I decided to give it a try for my 11 year old Airedale Terrier. Boy am I happy that I did. She loves the grunting noise that it makes way more than the standard squeak of regular dog toys. I have a pig that is rubbery for her and it makes almost the same noise and she loves that one too. She even sleeps with this one sometimes. My seven year old son plays with her and pulls it a lot while she has it in her mouth and it is holding up great. We've had it for over a month now and there are no tears, holes or rips. While she is not a super aggressive dog, she has been known to destroy toys within days when she puts her death grip on them and you try to pull it out!!! No worries so far. We are extremely happy with the purchase and my doggy adores it so win-win!L.

I actually have this product in a slightly different style, but same idea. Instead of the hedgehogs and stump its a barn with little piggies. With that out of the way, I have to say my dog really enjoys this. If the rating was only based on my puppy I would give them a 4 star, but because its just too cute it gets an extra star! Unfortunately one of the squeakers in the pigs is already broken (and we haven't had it very long) which is unfortunate, but not really a big deal. my little guy likes to carry the whole barn around and shake it until a pig flies out. I have an old German Shepherd who is obsessed with these Hedgehogs. We have had several over his lifetime & at any given time there are 4 or 5 all over the house. They last for years & don't rip no matter how long he sits there "sucking" on them. Even after the squeakers go out (after about a year) he keeps playing with them. When they get "yucky" I just throw them in the washer & dryer and they are as good as new. I suppose if you have a dog who likes to rip up stuff they may not work but my dog is very gentle on his toys (the big baby). give them a try!b.

We ordered all of the available colors. Our small, ten month old, Shih Tzu Yorkie mix had the toy opened up in about 2 hours. He pulled our the squeeker and all of the stuffing. The second toy lasted longer because of supervision, but still had all the inside removed. I have never seen our dog so happy playing with any other toy. We washed both outer fabric shells in the washing machine, and he still plays with what is left of them. We are waiting to give him another new one. This is one of the first toys my husband and I bought our dog when we rescued him 3 years ago and it's still his favorite by a long shot…even more than the bone! He knows its smell in the grocery bag as soon as we walk in the door and will steal it out of the bag if we're not paying close enough attention. He's a black lab/pitt mix, so the squeaker is usually broken by the 2nd day and it only lasts about a week or 2 depending on if we take it away periodically or let him keep it. We obviously don't get it for its durability or longevity with our dog (although it does last longer than was expected the first time we got it), but for a smaller dog it would probably last awhile. We especially love the low-pitched squeak/honk noise it makes. It's a LOT more tolerable than your typical squeaker toy, and I wish more companies that made dog toys would hop on this band wagon.mikki

I have an older silver lab who is getting up there in years, and doesn't seem to gravitate towards toys like he used to. That is, unless it is a grunting hedgehog. I don't know what it is about the hedgehog itself (trust me he knows if its not) but any time he sees a hedgehog he will run towards it and immediately start squeaking it. If its just a normal squeak, he tosses it aside and goes about his business. If its a grunting hedgehog, well, that's another story! It's like he turns into Benjamin Button and turns back into a young pup! He runs around the house, out into the yard, flips it into the air and plays with it until it is completely decimated. If one of our other dogs goes near him or the hedgehog, he will show them who is boss and make sure they back off. I love seeing him have so much fun playing again and will keep buying this for him until he is no longer around to enjoy it.EmilyW

My fur babies love these hedgehogs. Overall they are a good buy. I always keep a couple extra on hand as they are the pups favorite toy. Chew level is rated 2. I must admit my two pups can destroy one — they both want the same one and fight over it. Before I became owner of a second dog the hedgehog survived a lot longer. This toy is great for small dogs.
