My Plott Hound is big, hyperactive and obsessive. Several years ago a friend gave him one of these balls and he has been totally focused on it ever since. This past winter he smacked it into the house (brick) when it was 20 degrees outside and the ball cracked. He eventually was able to start taking it apart. That ball was at least 15 years old and possibly older and had been handed down through several dogs. This ball is made the same way except for the plug- which the old one had – and since the day he got it he hasn't stopped. I actually got the 8" one I believe. I had an old one that was 14" and it was great. I wanted a smaller one for my puppy, but it is very light weight and does not dribble well. I suppose it will hold up, but it is not made as well as my old one. It could even be a different company. I have had my big one for about 15 years. I liked that this chew toy was durable and had some weight to it, but my dog doesn’t play with the toy at all. I believe this is the toy he could not “destroy” and didn’t want anything to do with it. It did have a rubbery smell, so he might have been turned off by that, but it was a waste of money for me. My 60 lb. dog had teeth marks all over this toy in a matter of minutes, and it looks very unstable as if it will completely tear apart with one good tug. I was disappointed given how expensive it is, and that I thought it had a good warranty. But if you go to the website for the return that is guaranteed, you will find that you have to pay shipping to return it, and give the company a check for $7.50 for them to ship the new toy to you. This ring was the best investment! My pup goes through most chew toys in minutes as she LOVES to chew. This ring lasted a little over 7 months before she got to the red “safety” layer. I sent it in for the guarantee (paid shipping both ways, around $15) and got a brand new one! My pup has been chomping the new one for almost 2 months and it’s going strong. HIGHLY recommend for pups that love to chew! This is an amazing product, tough, good size & well made. Mabel my dog took to it right away….and then…..when it wouldn't break up or fall apart – she wasn't that impressed. HOWEVER – as her other toys are getting ruined & chucked, there is less choice for her & she is having another "go" at the GoughNut. Our lab is a destructive chewer and had already gnawed right through several toys when Chopper & Otis was recommended to us. The Big Dawg Dumbbell (extra large size) was the first toy we bought, and he was an immediate fan. It is quite heavy, but the rubber bounces multiple times, even when tossed gently. From the moment Belle’s jive ball got here it’s been her go-to ball. I have an American Staffordshire Terrier and an American Pitbull Terrier. As other owners of these breeds can likely attest they can pretty much destroy anything short of steel and concrete. I bought the small toppls and my two cavaliers love them. I've used it at dinner time with soft foods and some chopped up pieces of prime100 and it kept them busy for a good 7-ish minutes (which is much longer than the few seconds it usually takes them to practically inhale their food). I love that it can be used with kibble as well as a treat dispenser (although you need to buy two different sized ones to do this). Overall very impressed, but I would recommend waiting until they're on sale to buy.smp
These are amazing. We're in the process of diagnosing some GI issues with our 8 month puppy, and she's on a very limited diet and can't have any treats, chews or bones. It's a terrible age to not be able to give anything but prescription food. She can't be trusted with soft toys or rope toys, and has no interest in kongs or other rubber things. These are perfect for keeping her busy. We pack her kibble and some wet food in them and freeze them. They take her a good 30 minutes or more to finish, and she has yet to damage one. He shook, tossed, chewed, and flung this toy all around the living room and it kept him busy for at least 20 minutes. Not the longest compared to others I'm sure, but a world record in this house! My dog loves puzzle toys and loves to work for it, so your dog will have to be like that as well. I can see my parent's dog not enjoying this since there would be no immediate rewards and I think my sister's dog (a BIG chewer) might not get as much fun out of it since she might rip it to bits. It is durable, but not THAT durable for the determined pup. I did notice him get his lower jaw stuck in the top for a split second, but the toy is easy to bend so he was able to pop it right out on his own (it's always good to supervise your dog's playtime!) Let me start off by saying my partner and I LOVE West Paw! Great company with a great mission and amazing sustainability practices. We love the Toppl and wanted to love the Rumbl, but unfortunately on the very first use(we purchased size small), it got stuck on the bottom jaw of our 16 pound King Charles Cavalier. If you have a small to medium size dog with a small, narrow jaw, then I would not recommend this toy. The tabs in the top of the mouth got stuck to his little teeth and hurt him a bit to get off. We will unfortunately be returning this one and opting for another puzzle toy for feeding. Luckily, West Paw has a great guarantee policy so we will continue to be customers for life! It’s great material and fun for my dog when I put nut butter in it, but I was hoping the holes would be much smaller than they are. My dog is very smart and has food allergies so finding treat dispensing toys that make it tough to get to snacks is ideal. This one the hole is too big to have it be a challenge. We bought the small. The opportunity presented itself for me to try out the Bumi dog toy, produced by West Paw. This particular toy is one of West Paw's newest dog toys. Bumi, makes an exceptional toy for tug of war. It is made of Zogoflex. Zogoflex is a strong, malleable material that is suppose to withstand unfavorable conditions. Those conditions being my dog's sharp teeth, his powerful grip, and his action in thrashing it all over the yard as he is playing. Well, I went outside and introduced him to the Bumi. He wasn't excited like I thought he would be. At first, that was disappointing. He would not play tug of war with me. Instead, he liked running and fetching the Bumi back to me. The Bumi is a light weight, "S" shaped, bouncy toy that is easy to throw for fetching. It also travels a bit further than most toys due to these traits. It is non-toxic, BPA and Phthalates free ( Phthalates is a chemical used to soften PVC plastics). These substances can cause damage to the kidneys, liver, lungs, and testes according to animal research. Not all dog toys are safe and I do not want to risk my dog's health for anything. The Bumi is made to be long lasting and safe for dogs to chew on. I like that he will fetch the toy because it requires him to get up and move. Exercise will be good for him and he is learning a few commands. I gave him a reward and that really motivated him to continue fetching. It looks like my dog will enjoy chewing on this toy for the most part. So far, it has held up well.When he puts his mouth on it, he grips it in the middle section, where it has a ball like shape. I suppose it's because this is the first time he has had a toy like this. Usually, he retrieves balls and other round toys so this toy is fun and easier for him to grip. This toy is made in the USA and it was made to last a long time. The chewing action is good for his gums and teeth. The Bumi floats in water and can be easily washed or placed in the dishwasher. Lastly, I was impressed with the fact that if the Bumi comes apart it can be returned to West Paw company for a new one. The West Paw Company made this toy so it can be recycled if returned. Over the past 17 years, we've had 3 dogs and have bought hundreds of toys over those years. None of our dogs were very rough with their toys, so we've had 3 baskets full of gently used dog toys. All 3 dogs have since passed away, the last one in June of 2020. So, in September of 2020 we got a mini Goldendoodle puppy. Since we still had the 3 baskets full of toys that were in good condition from our other dogs, our new puppy, "Bowie" has had tons of toys to play with. The big difference is that Bowie is NOT gentle with his toys!! He is a power chewer who not only tears toys apart, he will actually consume the stuffing!! I've had to take every toy away from him after a day or two due to his weird appetite! I NEVER leave him alone with a toy. But there is one toy from that bunch that he absolutely loves and is still in excellent condition. So, thankfully, I was able to find the name of the company stamped into this toy, and I immediately searched the internet for the company West Paw (praying that it was still around). I was ecstatic to find their website, and there I saw his beloved toy – the "Bumi"!!! I was also surprised to see it listed as a toy for gentle chewers! I saw that almost all the reviewers mentioned that their dogs were more like Bowie – power chewers. The other thing about the Bumi is that it makes Bowie do the Zoomies all around the house whenever he plays with it. It makes him crazy! So, the added benefit is the exercise he gets when he plays with it, and there is still not a single bite mark on it! Our dog loved it,…he was very excited with it. He's a pit bull bit is usually fairly gentle on his toys. But this one only lasted about 2-3 play sessions of him squeaky and chewing on it, before he tore part of the end off. So that was the end of it. Otherwise it seemed like a nice toy. We bought this yesterday, and our Labrador loves it! If we squeeze it softly with the squeaker-hole pointing at her nose, the bacon smell is extra strong and she goes mad over it! She loves to lie down and chew the ends of the bone, but it is very durable – no holes. The inside of the bone is soft, which means it bends, but the outside is very tough and stands the vigorous chewing. This is the toughest ball or toy that I have found. More flexible than Kong toys. I have a strong chewing GSD and he loves them. Do keep an eye on your dog with the ball though as my dog chewed a piece off and ate it (a previous Planet Dog ball). He is a very strong chewer and had been chewing for a long time. Check for splits and I recommend discarding the ball once this happens as the dog will find a way to eat it! Expensive but worth it for the endurance and pleasure the dog will get.hjmh123
