These beds are super soft, hold up well to washing so far, and nice and light weight without losing their cushion.My only disappointment was I had hopped the sides would be a little firmer when both bolsters are up to make the bed deeper, but unless they're supported by crate walls, they tend to sag out. I specifically purchased them on the hopes that I could use them for newborn chihuahua litters, but the edges are week enough the babies can wiggle out, but then can't get back in. They certainly didn't advertise that they were more rigid, I was just hoping lol! I don't know whether my dogs prefer these to other beds/crate liners, but I do. I bought two of the white fleece as crate liners. The first thing I like is that the side are higher so that my dogs are not leaning up against the sides of the crate – they are cushioned. I also like that they have straps on the bottom to help them stay stationary in the crate.One of my dogs often vomits or has diarrhea, and I am able to toss these in the washer with no problem. I bought these over one year ago, and have washed them many times. I run them through the white cycle with bleach, and they hold up well. I was so happy to find this item. The description states "Recommended for pets 65 to 110 lbs" but I wanted a dog bed with more body so I purchased this for my two dogs to share – one weighing 45 one weighing 55 pounds. They both take turns using it. I have a few beds at different places on the floor, and was looking for one that was waterproof. This wonderful item is thick, but comfortable enough for my senior dogs, and has a nice cover which unzips on TWO sides making removal and putting back on so easy. (If you have struggled with those pads that require stuffing in the inner pad you know what I mean.) The outer cover washes nicely (I zip it almost completely closed and wash on gentle, being careful not to catch any loose threads into the zipper.) There is a separate inner cover made of a plastic type material which also zips on, but you probably would not be taking that off as you could wipe it clean if needed. These beds are very unstable and my 3 dogs will not get on them at all. They just lie down next to them. I have tried everything to coax them onto these beds without success. Each one got on the beds once the day they arrived, the beds moved and wobbled, the dogs leaped off, and none has been willing to try again since. Now I have two folding beds that are essentially useless. Good concept, but the design definitely needs work. Perhaps if the folding mechanism had a lock of some sort to prevent it from folding up when a dog jumps on it would be more stable? I cannot recommend these.drlynn58

This portable bed folds out quick and flat in a second. It appears to be built very light and strong and does not sag onto the crossmember with my 65 lb Lab as one person complained. Our German Shepherd absolutely loved this cooling mat! He would lay on it every time he came in from outside. About 6 months ago we purchased this and then a 4 months later, the seam started to rip in one area, causing the mat to leak. He is not a chewer besides his Kongs so we know for a fact that it wasn't that. We followed the care instructions and filled it to the correct amount. We exchanged it and then it happened again. I have a 13 year old Giant Schnauzer that can’t get up without help so she can’t cool herself off and can’t rotate to get more comfortable. I came across this bed in another store and it has been great. My girl sleeps better and has done well keeping her cooler. I have the large which takes 4 to 6 gal of water and 4 was all I needed. Good to go for the hot weather. I thank this site for a comment about Grape Seed Oil in the water to keep down bacteria especially if I drain to store. This and leaving the fill cap off will prevent bacteria growth. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BED! It has done wonders for my girl. She loves it better than her orthopedic cushion. Looking at getting another one for my 3 year old cause she tries to share.Heth58
I have purchased more than 15 of these Cool Bed IIIs over the past 10 years only because K&H Products has a patent on these beds and are not available from anyone else. Everyone I've purchased has leaked at the seams within a year. The 2 year warranty is only good for the original purchase and not for the replacement mattresses. The latest purchase leaked immediately after adding 3 gallons of water to the large Cool Bed III, which is half the recommended amount of water. Contacting K&H to obtain a replacement is quite involved requiring one to destroy the leaking mattress so that it cannot be used and take photos of it to send to the company. I'm tired of having to replace every purchase and will not be ordering anymore.Buddys Daddy
