Folding Dog Stairs For Large Dogs For Sale (2024 Update)

There are so many problems with this staircase. I can't believe anyone would actually even leave a positive review. Here are the problems: First, the staircase wouldn't stay open by itself. It was very unsteady. It would often just close up if moved ever so slightly. Secondly, since the staircase is made out of cheap plastic, coupled with its very light weight, it would not remain still on a hardwood floor. Perhaps, it might be OK on a carpeted floor, but again, it is very light and this light weight causes it to become very unstable. Another reviewer said they had to added weight and wood to the staircase in an attempt to make it more steady, but seriously, should you have to go through that much trouble for a new product? Third, the design just feels cheap and flimsy. You almost feel like it's going to break. I returned it to Walmart the same evening. Do yourself a favor and avoid this cheap (referring to the quality) solution.STEVE

These dog stairs were exactly what I ordered. I would recommend to measure the bed or couch where you will be using it. Use the description details when measuring. Easy to assemble. My Yorkie and Shitzu love it. You will need to stabilize the steps if you Do Not have carpet. I used a single step stool placed underneath the steps. I would recommend this to my family and friends. Stairs are sturdy and well-build and even though I wondered if they could be a little steep for my 10 lb, 10 month old Maltepoo, who generally tends to be somewhat of a "fraidy cat", I was wrong. Going up was a sinch, coming down took a day or two. Now he goes up and down with ease. Shipping was lightning fast, in fact the stairs arrived 3 days after ordering which was projected to be a week. Packaging was solid. Side note: I have recently switched from Amazon to Walmart to make my online purchases due to inconsistencies and a general laissez fair attitude of AZ. We purchased the Trixie heavy duty foldable pet stairs for our large dog so that he can get into and out of the car without stressing his joints and we are so happy that we did. He was hesitant at first, but with a little practice, he started going right to his stairs without any hesitation. Got two of these for loading my mobility scooter that is 95 lbs. They are very light weight, support up to 150 lbs each and fold easily into a small suitcase size with a nice handle. Folding at first is stiff but lock into a very sturdy ramp that works great with my Ford Escape.ScooterRamps

This is a good product of your car or SUV isn't very tall. I use it on my Jeep Commander and the incline is too steep for my dog to walk up without slipping. Additionally, its difficult to open and close. But its solid and does what it advertises.calandraa2l9w

This was a life saver. My pug is 15 and needs help getting up and down from couch. It has 3 positions so it is not steep for an older dog to use. It is ready to use right out of the box. Looks like a nice piece of furniture. It is not to long and can be used in the smallest spaces. The carpet like material on the ramp, also has slip resistant material on it (like what is on the bottom of socks). The dogs love it and it does not bother their feet. When going down the ramp, they can go as slow as needed and not slide down. I highly recommend this product. It will not work with really high beds or trucks unless you add to it. But it is perfect for anything else including cars (if needed) It is very light and easy to move around. It is very sturdy and does not move when dogs are using it. Even my younger dog loves it and she is scared of everything. The first day we got it we used treats to get them to use it. I only took a few minutes and they loved it. We had foam stairs before this but my older dog was still having issues using it. Because of the material of the stairs, when going down, it would force her to go fast and slide. This item is a great product for it's price. Many others like it are easily twice as much. Has 3 adjustable height settings. Great for small dogs. If you have a puppy this is a key item. My dog has always been one to be next to be, whether that be on the couch or in bed. She has recently been having some issues jumping on to the high bed because of some arthritis in her back legs. These steps have been perfect. They are light wait and easy for me to move from place to place. They are sturdy enough for her to use at 90 pounds. I was looking for some simple 3 or 4 step stairs for my 5 pound toy poodle mix and these are exactly what I wanted. It was super easy to set it up, they’re not too heavy, and my dog consistently uses it now. At first he was super hesitant and curious as to what it was. Keeping my little hyperactive boy from jumping has been a challenge so I am hoping he will use these stairs rather than jump off the sofa. He already went up the stairs once with a treat. I think these steps are easier on his joints than jumping off the sofa which has proved impossible to stop. Hoping I can train him to always use the steps as it will be easier on his joints for the first few days but now he loves them. It is pricey but it’s definitely worth it. Not sure why I waited so long to get one if these! But I'm so happy I finally did! My dog is getting up there in age and can no longer get on or off my bed. She will not take her naps anywhere but our bed. I no longer have to keep checking on her ever 10-15 minutes to see if she's awake. The quality was excellent and being shipped it still arrived in excellent condition. It was received clean and is was well-made. The ramp was definitely not what I expected from the photos and description. It was much narrower than anticipated and the height of the cargo area of our SUV made the angle of ascent very steep (we probably could have used a 4th panel). We have an older, 90-pound boxer who is very low maintenance. Our dog attempted three times to climb up the ramp and, as it was steep, managed only to scratch the emery-board type surface of the ramp as he clung for dear life! It also took up decidedly more room in our cargo area than we had anticipated. I think it was just a poor fit for our dog and our car. Returned it as it wasn't going to work for us, but I'm sure could work perfectly well for another dog and vehicle. EXTREMELY DURABLE RAMP!! It blew out of the bed of our pickup while driving down the highway at 70 mph! It took a quarter of a mile to get stopped and I walked back expecting to pick up only a few recognizable pieces. TO MY PLEASANT SURPRISE, the Pet Gear Travel Lite Tri-Fold Pet Ramp was fully intact and usable. The only damage was on a corner and an edge that had some scuffing from sliding along the pavement. It was missed by several cars and trucks as I walked back to get it which was also nice. I do not know if it would survive being hit by a large truck but it certainly passed the test of hitting the ground at 70 mph and sliding to a stop. I would recommend this Pet Gear Travel Lite Tri-Fold Pet Ramp to anyone looking for a ramp that is easy to fold up for traveling as well as being very durable. My recommendation is a Yes, BUT! This product might work well for dogs smaller than mine. It does meet one of my criteria. It is lightweight and portable and thus easy to use. However, it has not worked well for my 100 pound Bernese Mountain dogs. It does not have a lip on the sides, so the dogs walk off of it. Also, the sand paper type coating for traction doesn't really hold their feet very well. I have big claw gashes in it from one use where the dog did not feel it had a secure footing. A carpet base would be better. In short, I will either have to retrofit this, or get a different one. I can't use it as is.kcc

My 16 lb cavachon has short little legs and took to this like a charm. A couple of hours after we put it next to the sofa she was using it with a little guidance. Works great on higher thick mattress bed. It is 26" off the floor to the top of the bed. He ( my Silky Terrier) is starting to get used to using it. I was afraid he was going to hurt himself jumping up on the bed cause sometimes he did make it and would fall offaly hard onto the floor. He is getting old like me (his daddy) is. It takes only couple minutes from opening the box to set it up. The steps are made of super dense foam. Unfortunately, the middle support bar that connects the two legs at the top just popped out, which I’m not even sure what held it together originally. But it’s wiggled out of place and now the stairs have no stability. I’ve tried gluing it back on (and letting it dry) with wood glue but the bar wiggles out every time after my dog uses the stairs. For pets over 22 lbs (like my dog), would not recommend.Dog mom

I had a small sturdy table made to use this ramp along side my bed, and used velcro to secure the ramp lip to the table. So far neither of my dogs prefer using it, although both will use it when 'treat bribed'. Mainly because they're used to me picking them up. However, my aged cat loves to use it. In time and with patience all of my babies will use it. Meanwhile it's lightweight portability will make traveling with my babies for much easier. I highly recommend this ramp for use with any 'weight appropriate' animal that has difficulty walking or negotiating steps.Melba Y.

I have a senior dog that is having difficulty with stairs. I have several spots where a ramp is needed, with different rises, so I bought several ramps from several companies to see what would work best. My primary concern was length of ramp versus weight of ramp, as I have higher rises and in some spots I need to run several ramps with a landing pad in between. Discount ramps arrived the fastest. When they say lightweight, they mean it. It is not designed for anything other than a dog. It is very lightweight, which was what I was looking for because it will need to be set up and taken down repeatedly. However the design of the ramp basically has 3 aluminum rails that are the bottom edge supports and a center rail which run the length of the ramp, with a sheet of aluminum laid over the 3 rails and hinges in the center. The hinges don't relax to allow the ramp to go completely flat, so the ramp has a little bit of "spring" to it in the center. Also, because of my setup, a human has to step on the ramp in order to open and go in and out of the door. I am only 150 pounds, well under the weight capacity of the ramp, and I can walk on it without it breaking, but I can feel the sag of the sheet aluminum in between each of the rails where there is no support. It is holding with no issues, but I don't know how it will hold up over time. Also, one of the rivets in the center by the hinges popped the first time it was used, straight out of the box. One of my other dogs ran up the ramp and the "spring" in the hinge area seemed to be the cause of the rivet to pop as the dog caused the ramp to bounce slightly as it ran up the ramp. The ramp has been in use for 2 weeks now and no other issues have arisen. The other ramps I ordered from other companies have arrived and they are heavier, longer, and more durable, but are also not as easy to shift around. I have taken this ramp in the vehicle, since it is so lightweight, and it works well resting on the bumper of the SUV. Overall, it is an adequate ramp if lightweight is the primary feature you are looking for. It is the least expensive ramp I ordered, so the price is reflective of the sturdiness of the ramp.Pamela K.

We purchased the ramp for a large, tri-pawed dog who is sometimes afraid to go down a set of steps outdoors, and who has recently hurt his remaining back leg. We have tried to get him accustomed to the feel of it by laying it on the floor indoors in front of his food dish. We've had mixed success and recently, after a few weeks, we removed it. Because there is no latch to stabilize the hinged joint, it gives a little when he steps on it and it frightens him. It will be the same problem stretched across the steps, so we don't think it will have been a good investment, I'm sorry to say. Other than that, the ramp is lightweight and easy to handle.Sheila M.

The steps are nice and wide. Even my dachshund can climb up them. I like how they fold so I can take them with us. The only thing that I would say not extremely happy with is the color is almost a demon blue grey they do not match more home at all.Amy

The doggy step is a replacement for one that was getting to soft for my small dog to use any more. The deep brick red upholstery fabric is beautiful . The foam step is sturdy and firm. It reaches almost to the top of the couch making climbing to the couch much easier for my little dog. This product is a huge improvement over the one we replaced. Very happy with the purchase. Our bed is 30 inches tall so we bought the 5 step stairs and our 6 lb. puppy took too it easily. Its a bit steep coming down but hes getting used to it quickly. Hopefully, this will save us considerably more in Veternarian fees for his bad back than it cost to purchase. My jeep is 22" high and i got this ramp for my 100lb rottweiler who has both his knees operated. This ramp is perfect. My dog goes in and out of my car with no issues. This is 60" long ramp which gives it a 22 degree angle of inclination for the ramp. 18 to 22 degree is recommended for dog ramps. It also has strap to attach the end of the car. I have to use old sweats on the ramp while my dog goes up to make it less slippery. But that not big deal. Its light weight and folds which are best the features. Overall it is perfect solution to my getting my dog in the car.ikha2889

Back in August, I contracted COVID and was in hospital for over a month. I was on a walker after my release and unable to lift my 60 lbs Bulldog.
