This product saved a pound pooch. We adopted a 2 year old schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) from a shelter. He is smart, learns tricks and basic commands quickly (with treats), but he will ignore you when he doesn't feel like obeying. His biggest issue was diving out the door any time it was opened, and when he got outside, he would run off and not return until he was finished exploring (even when called). It only took a few "stimulations" to teach him to come back when called. It has also been useful in training our "cat-dog" to stay off tables. The unit has 15 intensity settings, and we normally only have to set it on 2 or 3 (when dealing with the outside run off problem, we had to turn it up to 7 one time.) Contrary to the product directions, we use the tone feature as a warning prior to "stimulation" as we also have an electronic fence for him that uses a tone to warn him to stay in the boundaries. Therefore, trying to use the tone on the training collar as positive reinforcement would have confused him. After only 2 weeks, 99% of the time, all we have to do anytime he is disobeying in anyway is give the warning tone. He has also learned not to wander too far from me when he is off the leash. He weighs 14 lbs and has a neck circumference of 10 inches. The collar fit fine after adjusting it and cutting off the excess. The receiver is also one of the smallest of all the brands/models we looked at. Our dog has also tested the waterproof feature, as he took a dive in a swamp yesterday. So far, the unit is still functioning. The unit does have to be charged daily, even with limited use.CritterLuvR2

I have an adopted fur-baby that had a lot of control and behavior issues. Training, the usual way was just not working. I tried this and, within one day, the disruptive behavior (running and tearing up things in the house, jumping from one piece of furniture to another, non-stop barking) all stopped. He began with sitting, immediately after only two "vibrations" of the collar. By the end of the week, all I had to do was take out the remote control, say the words of sit, stay, no and wait, and he did so. Now, I don't have to use the remote at all but just say the words. I will tell you that, under no circumstances would I recommend the "shock" feature. Because it is easily changed on this model, by accident, I found out, the hard way just how much it hurts the animal. If you click MODE, by accident, from it being on vibrate, it switches over to Shock. BE VERY CAREFUL when you are about to use the Y button, for sound or vibration as, if it's on shock–and this was the very low setting–the dog whelps loudly and jumps, shakes, etc. I would not recommend it for any animal lover as, I don't even want to know what it feels like. Because the vibration is strong, even on low settings, and the other setting of "beep" is a high frequency sound, I found them the most effective. Thebeep sound is for Guiness (my new family member) to come–I use the vibration for correction, when needed. Guiness was the most difficult dog that I have worked with and I have behavioral training for dogs, which I have used for all of my pets. If this worked on him, it will work on most dogs that have behavioral issues. I would recommend it for the vibration and sound settings–and hope to get one that doesn't have the shock setting as, I feel that is just inhumane to use on a dog (my opinion after seeing how he reacted, on just a low setting). PLEASE USE CAREFULLY until you are used to the remote. That is my only advice when purchasing this for training.kelly4jesus
I am, so far, very happy with the design of the collar and remote handset. I especially like that you can do either vibrate OR static corrections with this set, AND can adjust the level of stimulation, immediately, for each. My only complaint is that the slide on clip is NOT useful. It does not grab either a collar, belt, or pocket, to any real degree. It slips off easily and drops to the ground, to be either lost or damaged. It would be better to design a stronger spring clip or clamp that is stronger. Because it continues to fall from where it is clipped, I am forced to hold it in my hand continually. Giving the dog a visual cue that I have control handy. It is more useful for the dog no not be able to connect such an association. Putting it in my pocket results in a possible inadvertent correction to the dog unnecessarily. Although I like many aspects of this product, and being a professional dog trainer, it would be nice to be able to recommend an affordable, good quality product. My dog used to jump on anyone that came over and she was hard headed about listening. Been using for about a month now and have only shocked her once (on level 2) and now she listen with or with out wearing collar. We still put it on her every day and especially if company is coming over, but she knows when she hears the beep she's gone to far in pushing her luck. Most of time beep gets back in line and if not vibrate does. Can't beleave we waited so long to get one. Now friends and family can come over again and we don't worry about her jumping up on our guest particularly little kids. We put it on her in the morning and take it off before bed time and turn collar off at night and battery will last almost 2 weeks on collar before charging (wonted to see how long battery would last between charges) , Generally now we charge it once a week over night and haven't had it die yet while she's been wearing it. Can't say how water proof it is at this point haven't allowed her in the water with it yet. Only complaint is as others have stated it's easy to change channels on transmitter if your not paying attention. But have gotten used to looking at transmitter before pushing button. I really liked the quality of this training system. Over all the Pro system works as described. However, the collar attached to this system is longer than needed and shortening the strap is questionable given the contact wire that runs through the strap. Also, the strap would be more beneficial to be a snap locking system rather than a buckle. As my dog recognizes the purpose of the collar, she is not a fan, and likes to put up some resistance when having it placed on her. I did a lot of research on ecollars before deciding to purchase this one. I got this for a dog that is a rescue who has had some major behavior issues. I use the collar for training and he is excelling at everything. The only thing I would caution would not be specific to this ecollar but to all ecollars. Watch the fit. The band stretches after it's worn a few times and needs to be tightened on the dog's neck. Be sure to start out at the lowest level and only go up in slight increments until your dog reacts to the zap. This will prevent you from using more power than needed. I’m very satisfied with the R.A.P.T. 1400, the remote is very user friendly and I’m so happy to have a back of the hand setup. Battery life on the collar itself seems to be much improved over my previous models of collar. My one and only complaint is the collar itself is already starting to separate layers, fraying at the feed point and I’ve had to trim and tape twice in less than a month of use (my other collars took years for this to happen). Training is quite enjoyable with the ergonomics of the remote and the programmable quick button is definitely a nice touch. I purchased this product on my brother's recommendation. I have 10 dogs and 14 guineas and only one of the dogs would kill our fowl. Was hesitant to get this b/c I wasn't sure it was humane. After talking to my vet, I felt comfortable making the purchase. I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. I was so excited to try this on my dog because there’s nothing else I’ve done has worked. I loved the range of size the collar goes. I also loved that the button is on the inside so the dog would not be able to accidentally turn it off(no it doesnt zap your hand)lol. We use the collar to curb excessive barking from our 65 lb German Shepherd mix. We start with vibrate as a warning and if needed go to shock. (Lowest setting works fine for us) I also tested the shock on myself and though unpleasant, was not painful. After about two or three warning vibrate to shock transitions, our dog has learned the sequence of events. Rarely do we need to go to shock anymore. The warning vibrate curbs the barking. My only complaints are that the vibrate and shock buttons are too similar and I feel the potential to accidently press them is high. Also, there is a small beep with every button press that I could do without. Long story short… If this one breaks, I'll probably reorder the exact same one.scooter5.9
This little e-collar does everything it should do, it is small enough I used it on my 10 pound poodle. She thought she was going to chase the cat and by mistake (my fault) I hit the shock button instead of vibrate, she did get a good shock as it was set on 20 but she now can be stopped from even thinking of chasing a cat or chicken. I only need the vibrate with her, and she only needed the collar for about a week she just needed to know I could reach out and touch her even at a distance. I would like to add,she knew her commands consistently on leash before the collar was used A few months latter I know have a different opinion. I cannot get it to keep a charge, five minutes tops,, I wish it had a some interior battery to change so it would charge again. My newest thought is I would not buy again. We have a Border Colley, that was a year old when we got him from a couple the that had gave up training him. He is very intelligent to intelligent for his own good, he would sneak off and bother the neighborhood and neighborhood animals. After using this collar 3 days the audio and vibrant is all needed after stocked one time. He doesn't even try to run off unless in his house collar, As soon as he feels the training collar on he turn into a different dog. We had actually talked about considering re-homeing Him ourselves this collar was going to be our last attempt to keep him. Before search for him a new suitable home with hundreds of acres rather than our small 10 acres , our closest neighbors our about 300 and 500yrds though heavy timber the collar works great at that distance have used it up to about 600-800 yrd across open field that's about as far as clear line of sight we have or need it to work for our needs works wonderful. We would have paid 10X the amount ask after using it the very first time. Rather than all the searching , driving around neighborhood looking half the night for a run away Fast moving Pet. PS, we have mode (A) set to lowest settings, mode (B) set to medium settings, mode (A/B) set to maximum settings. I have had training collars that cost north of $200. This collar des more and is perfect for dog training. I can normally use only sound, sometimes vibrate and very seldom have to resort to "shock". When I have though I never have to do it again to correct that behavior problem. Only thing I noticed annoying is the firmness required on the buttons. I assume that to be a built in precaution to prevent accidentally triggering. For me it's good. Love it.fishconnect

I have been using these collars for a few weeks now on my 75 lbs pitbull and my 20 lb chihuahua/sheltie mix and they have been awesome. I have only used the beep and vibration and have made a world of difference in my house. my pitbull would jump and paw at us for attention which was hurting us due to his size. the beep stops the behaviors immediately and rarely have had to vibrate him. my pit also was being extremely possesive of food and starting fights at meal times. the beep makes him.stop instantly and he sits down. my chihuahua mix has a problem with getting on the table and stealing food and also barking non stop. he isnt as affected by the beep as my pitbull so I tend to have to use vibrate more often with him but he is slowly getting on the table less and less. I dont know why I waited so long to try these but I guess it's because I was one of those people who said they would never use a shock collar. I'm so glad I tried these collars before making any drastic decisions due to behavioral issues. the only downside/complaint I have is the charger comes with 2 ports so you can only charge one collar and the remote at the same time. if they are being sold in a 2 pack there should be suffice chargers to charge all 3 at the same time which is why I only gave 4 stars. the collars also tend to need to be resynced but it's an easy process to do.overall I'm very happy with the collarMandy
This collar works great! We have a 135 pound Saint Bernard that likes to run into our pasture with the cows. It definitely has enough kick to get her attention and the collar has plenty of room. All of the advertised capabilities work well , the directions for set up and use are easy to follow ,the collar comes with a testing block which nice , (I dont the shock function) the reason I rated it four 1/2 stars is the actual collar piece is made of plastic . ( it does the job) , I purchased a thin leather collar and it works great. Other than that the device is well worth the price.john

The collar receives and charger work just fine, but the transmitter does not work well…it lost its charge and I can't recharge it…so it's a very expensive one-time-use collar. We adopted a dog who is a nervous guy and not food motivated. He would bark at people walking by our house and wouldn’t come when he was called. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it. For the money it costs, I don’t think it should fall off that easily. I then bought the 825x, but I’m not sure I recommend this collar for extremely active dogs.esport dog collar

I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. Does not work at 100 yards as advertised. I bought this because I have a big yard and the invisible fences do not offer a big enough range for my dog to roam. I bought this trainer because of the 100 yard range it claimed to have, thinking I could give my dog more room to play and run. My house sets about 80 yards off the road in front of our house. I have tried several times to correct my from the house before he gets to the road and it would not work.I have to be with-in 30 yards of my dog before it works. I have a crazy dog that is a Lab-Pointer. He was the worse in his puppy class. I have trained dogs before, big dogs and hunting dogs. This guy doesn’t get it! He gets the trading collar though. I have had this for months. I only shocked him once. I rarely “ buzz” him on a low vibrational mode to stop unwanted behaviors like over exuberant jumping on visitors. It works. I have the upland hunting version, partly for locating the dog in thick brush, same brand. Both are very helpful.
