The only complaint is the grip clips (to hold strap adjustments looser or tighter) slip daily, but not enough to cause worry with the straps themselves slipping. Maybe those could be swapped with metal ones by the manufacturer. I highly recommend this beautiful, strong and sturdy harness for your little girl! This is a reassuringly robust harness. Looking at the size guide, the guidance on harness size for weight of dog shows a large overlap between small and medium. We bought the medium harness. It fitted but the underneath pad came right up to our dogs chin when she was lying down in the car, making it uncomfortable. We decided to buy the small harness to use until the dog fits into the medium one. This is MUCH smaller than the medium harness. It barely fits our dog. The material used is very substantial. I find that the tether works better than using the seat belt. I connect the tether to a back seat belt buckle and Millie lies on a cushion, my wife made for her, which we place on the center console of my Honda Element. As good a solution as I'm going to find. I bought the small harness for my excitable 2 year old cockapoo. The product was very easy to put on him, and it appeared to make him feel more secure during the car journey. The only problem I have encountered is with regards to the removing of the harness over his head due to the neck size. A logistical approach is required by ensuring his ears are through before pulling the harness over his head. Otherwise, it is a good fit, and keeps him safe.Mitch
This is a really cute toy, and our 12-week-old puppy loved it! The problem is, however, that she was able to detach little hunks of the loofah material from the center of the starfish within just a few sessions. The label warns of this, so we watched and threw away the chunks . . . and ultimately the whole toy before she could swallow anything. Maybe a much younger puppy would do better? We are having to take her out in the car at the moment and wanted her to be safe and secure on the back seat.I measured the dog before purchase and although the chest area was a perfect size, her head would not go through the neck part, which is fixed. As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. We were rear-ended on the freeway Sunday night. One dog was in the "Impact" and one in the "True Fit". While both dogs "flew" a little, the harnesses did their job keeping both dogs in the backseat. We spent a couple of days checking on them to make sure there were no latent injuries or bruising. The harnesses did really well. Bought for a large, barrel-chested but narrow golden doodle. The straps still barely touch where they're supposed to be held together by the elastic hook at the top, but despite being almost too small, the hard plastic chest piece cuts into the tops of his legs in a way that makes the product absolutely unusable. It doesn't curve to his body at all, and would not be at all suitable for sitting in a car without causing him pain. The back end of the chest piece also doesn't conform to his body at all, even when tightened – the hard flaps stick straight out to the sides. If your dog has a tall narrow triangular chest, rather than wide and rounded, I'd look elsewhere.lrose
We purchased this harness for our female boxer who likes to back out of most harnesses. Purchased a size medium although her weight fits into the lower range of the size large because we had problems with a similar car harness not adjusting small enough around her neck therefore allowing her to back out of it. Her neck measurement is 15 inches and her chest measurement is 31 inches. She appeared more comfortable in this harness then the one we previously purchased and did not try to back out of it like with the other. The amount of possible size adjustment on this harness is great compared to the other we have. The straps on this harness are one continuous loop instead of one set for the neck and another around the chest so you don't end up with the neck area too large which happens often with large chested dogs. The only con we have noticed is that the harness does seem to loosen up with use so it has to be readjusted. It would be helpful if there were a way to buckle the seat belt and then use a sturdy loop or some kind of attachment to go through the two loops on the back of the harness and around the seat belt because it can be hard to do and potentially could give the dog a chance to escape while you are fighting with the seat belt to get them hooked in.Boxer

I brought two of these a couple of months ago, one dog it works great. My other dog has managed to tie himself in knots around the seatbelt, tried with and without the extension to control his movements and he still ties himself up in knots. Worse he has managed to have the D-ring tear through a seatbelt. He has both slipped out of the harness and managed to undo the seatbelt. At first it helped with is nervousness travelling but now he has turned in HoudiniGlovair
Ever since my first Kurgo booster seat, I’ve been a huge fan. These harnesses are no exception, and are the perfect companion for the booster seat lineup. I’ve had to “brake check” one of my dogs to keep him from trying to get out of his seat with the little leverage he has in his seat. I actually bought 4 of theses harnesses and really like the overall design and felt my dogs were safe in the car. However I totally hate the metal buckles as some of them do not buckle very easy. I had to file them down to make them easier to manipulate. And for someone with arthritis putting them on is a struggle, certainly not buckle and go, more like fiddle and fiddle and go. Another thing is if dog turns around everything at the top gets tangled into a big mess. They really should product test what they sell with all kinds of dogs. They are made reasonably well but skimp in the seam fabric which come apart in some areas after even hand washing which then causes fraying of edges. I would pay more if they would fix these problems. Thank you. Their customer service though I found excellent.Esher

I own this product and need to make it VERY CLEAR for owner to NOT FOLLOW THE ORVIS PHOTOS! under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the seatbelt carabiner be attached to the metal tabs!!!! It says so in the instructions, and if you watch videos, you will see it's due to being a weak point in the event of a crash/hard stop. the SAFEST attachment is to use the carabiner to attach the top webbing (which the D ring slides along) to the seatbelt. Yes, Kurgo uses a strap for "more movement" but that just creates another weak point that can break. Watch videos available from the Center For Pet Safety regarding how easily harnesses fail. regarding the rest of the harness: It's not bad for travel, but some dogs may not like how you will put it over the head. The straps can also cause itchy spots where the sewing is. I wrapped those areas with medical tape which has reduced some of the shaking and scratching my dog does. The harness is not as good at stopping pulling than another, thinner harness I use for everyday walking.JohnSmith1882
We purchased this harness in size L when Miles was 8 months old at around 70 lbs. A year and five months later, he's 88-90 lbs and the size L fits, but with no room for adjustments. (Didn't realize our border collie mix would be so large!) We've used this harness EVERY DAY for daily walks and car rides. It's great for a small person like myself to control his powerful tugs when he sees a squirrel. It's also held up well and does not rust when he wears it swimming. The harness has not molded and does not retain smell and we have washed it only a handful of times. It's also very easy to put on, if your dog allows you to slip it over their head. I then stand above him and easily hook the straps into place pulling the "bib" up underneath his belly. He does not need to step into anything. Preliminary adjustments may take some time, but the harness rarely, if ever, loosens making getting out the door quick and painless. So far I have owned this harness for about a year and a half and do not need to re-order one any time soon. Great value!Upsidedown

Really love this seat belt. It took a bit to get it adjusted correctly and adjusting it is kind of a pain in the ass, but that one time hassle is no big deal for the safety of my dog and family. My dog is a 50 lb pit bull mix with a large chest and smaller neck and previous seatbelts i've tried were either too loose on her neck or too tight on her chest. This one has a wider range of adjustment so it fits her quite well. I wish i bought the S clip with it because my seat belt will get too tight and cause my dog to be uncomfortable.Ashley
I have 2 dogs, both have thick chests for their size and slim necks. Harnesses usually fit in either neck or chest but not both. This fit back/ chest but gaps horribly at their sides! Granted, both of my dogs are athletes. One in agility and the other in dry-land mushing. I imagine this product would be a perfect fit on most dogs of average fitness. I wont use it for walking or any other activity but its fine for transportation purposes.Kyra C.
