Durable Dog Crate Pad For Sale (2024 Update)

I ordered this to try to provide a feral cat who stays by my house a little more warmth during recent bitterly cold nights. As a feral, she’s finicky about where she sleeps, I suspect for safety reasons. She seems to love this pad. I put it in a cardboard box for her and she did not hesitate to sleep on it. I felt the pad (she does let me touch her) and could feel the warmth radiating back. It’s a winner for her and I am much happier knowing she has a source of warmth on winter nights. I heartily recommend it. It does what it promises.Seajewel

The largest size was perfect for doghouse. We have a giant breed dog, and it is difficult to find dog beds large enough for him, but this fit the bill. In the past I've had 2 different brands of electric heated pads for his house, but each only lasted one winter, and I think one even shocked him after he had gone swimming. So, a warming pad without electricity was wonderful to find, and this topper is easy to throw in the wash, and keeps the bedding underneath from getting dirty, as well. It's also soft and the brown color does not show dirt. Exactly what we needed to add warmth, as his regular bedding/pads underneath tend to retain the cold. Also, the electric warming pads/beds we had used in the past were small in size compared to his doghouse, (though the largest available) so that they were awkward and uncomfortable on top of a much larger bed.dogfriend1

The outer texture, forming shape, and nonslip bottom are great, but the pad is very thin, more like a cover than a cushion. We definitely have blankets that are thicker than this pad. I was disappointed as the photos make it look voluminous, but in reality it’s quite flat.Kidhack

I actually bought these as litter-catching trays to go under the cat boxes. I have an old cat who sometimes misses and even when he doesn't, he has a habit of tracking litter everywhere. I've been looking for a large, flat shallow tray to go under the box and these are perfect. I bought the medium-sized tray. I was expecting cheap-ish plastic but these are more rubberized and much better quality than I expected. Very happy with them. I'm sure they'd work great in crates as well.Elissa

I bought this as a replacement due to my original one cracking. It seems to be holding up really well. The only downside to this product is the fact that I bought the wrong size. I bought a bigger size than I needed. Luckily the whole crate fits in it, so it still works for me. This is my fault though, not the manufacturers. Will purchase product again, if I need to.Kristy06

I ordered the 30 inch pan. It came in a box that says 27 inch pan. The problem is that the width is only 18 1/2 inches leaving at least 2 inches where it is too short for the crate. I am not sure how to make sure I get one to fit. My Midwest Kennels are in great shape but older. I am trying to find the right size to order. Have to have one at least 20 inches wide. The 27 1/2 would work from back to front of crate.Christine3239

These are well built and made from heavy canvas but are not at all chew proof. My ridgeback only needed 6 hours to have the inside destroyed. I’m giving it 4 stars because it would be nice for dogs that are normal. It has a foam pad and a fabric heat shield type thing inside so it would actually block some cold air. The bottom has a soft plastic that doesn’t really grip to prevent sliding around a crate.Ian

This is a really nice little mat for my dog's crate. He loves it! It's definitely a quality item and I would not trade his joy at "night night"time for anything. He sleeps in his crate and he loves this bolster bed. I highly recommend it!Lori

This pad offers ample room for the dog in a tight crate. I found this because I was looking for the coolest pad for our dog who gets so hot with most all crate pads.WrnB

This will NOT fit in a standard large dog crate- the dimensions listed on the description are wrong. Item received had a "large" sticker with the measurements 17×30, while the website states it is 36×23. Put it in our large crate and it was much smaller than the crate floor. Measured it ourselves and it was indeed 17×30, not 36×23 as stated on the website.KindraO

I got the large ( they make an XL , too) to fit inside my Ruffland kennel ( was a bass pro ) I was surprised it was 109$ but it was last one so I got it It fits inside my gen 1 Ruffland kennel large like a glove! So excited I’m back to find the XL size to use on my XL crates! These are the best crate pads for these high end crates I’ve seen- befor I used bean dog blankets as a bed !Alison

We just bought the Big Barker 4" Crate Pad for our 8 year old Labrador! He just loves it! I could hardly put it down and he was already crawling onto it! We had purchased the Big Barker 7" Bed with the headrest for him in 2020. And, Booker really likes that big bed. Booker had surgery for a Luxating Patella when he was 11 months old, and he also has hip dysplasia in both hind hips. Between his supplements and using the Big Barker beds, he is doing very well in spite of his health issues. We also chose to purchase the Waterproof Liners for both the Big Barker bed and the Crate bed. Because these beds are so amazing and will last so long, I wanted to have a waterproof liner for both. I wanted to be prepared for a dog who will eventually become a senior dog and wanted to avoid accidents on the beds. The covers are actually really good for that, but I wanted the extra protection. I have had 2 large dogs at once on the Big Barker bed numerous times and you can't even see any sagging at all. Yet the bed is very comfortable and great for dogs with orthopedic problems. Wish I had found these earlier. I wasted a lot of money buying dog beds every year because they fell apart or were not comfortable for my dog. Booker says "Thank you, Big Barker!!!"Kathy L.

We knew Henny was going to be big when we adopted him when he was four months old, but he ended up being way bigger than we thought he would be once he became one years old (he's a German Shepherd mix, but I swear he's bigger than all the pure bred German Shepherds around the neighborhood. Must be a XL breed in him somewhere). That means XL crate and XL beds. At first we tried the cheapest route, and got a smaller (at least small for Henny) bed/pad from Home Goods. But after a small amount of time and because of Henny's weight, the pad just flattened to basically nothing. Since we were still kennel/crate training him at night, we often heard him moving around to adjust. And when he adjusted, he would get up, twirl around, and then slam down loud and hard (we often thought something large fell in the house). Therefore, the bed/pad did nothing for that amount of impact. Also, although we don't know for sure, it's likely he has hip dysplasia based on certain signs. Eventually, we decided we should invest in a better bed/pad for Henny and looked online for the best. Big Barker beds were frequently on top lists, and after purchasing the Crate Pad, it makes sense why! Henny usually needs some form of an incentive to go in his kennel. But after only a few minutes of opening the box and putting the pad in the crate, Henny willingly walked in and laid on his new bed/pad. We also noticed that he doesn't move around as much at night, and even when he does, definitely no longer hearing a loud slam anymore. There are some things that isn't really the product's fault and shouldn't prevent purchasing, but it's good to be aware and mindful of. Henny threw up once in the middle of the night. It did slip off the top of the pad, but some of it got onto the tray. Eventually the throw up did soak through the zipper and into the foam. We washed the cover, put some baking soda on the foam to suck up the throw up, and it's all good. Henny is a determined chewer and likely has a small case of separation anxiety. We went to the gym for an hour once, and had put him in the kennel with the pad. When we came back, we saw that he chewed off and ate the Made in America tag and the rubber or silicone Big Barker tag that was on the bed. We should've known better, because he's done that with almost everything (he really specifically loves tags). But, he didn't mess with those for a while and we thought it was fine…but nope. Again, not the product's fault. Henny can destroy that most "durable" of things — the Xtreme Kong, hard natural rubber Goughduts toys, etc. So if you have a dog like Henny, maybe just cut those things off ahead of time. Thankfully, he eventually threw up the rubber/silicone tag. The crate bed/pad is really great! And we often see Henny just randomly deciding to go in his kennel to just lay down. I'm thinking we most likely will get a non-crate/kennel bed.msasorith

This is my second crate pad. The first one lasted over four years, but began to smell due to urine. This time I got the crate pad with a waterproof liner. My Ridgeback had joint pain at a ripe age of 2 years. He use to scream in ear piercing pain. He was in so much pain that he would avoid laying down as much as possible. So I researched the best bed I could find, and after a couple hours I stumbled upon big barker. Ever since I got him a big barker headrest, crate pad, and cosequin (max strength+MSM and HA) he hasn’t screamed since. He is now almost 8 years old, and loves his headrest and crate pad. You really can’t go wrong with a big barker. Except, If you have a destructive pup then look for a different bed. I’m glad that I got my big barker beds after my dogs went through their teething stage. However, I have an extremely destructive chewing puppy, and he loves sneaking on the headrest bed to lay on it and surprisingly hasn’t tried to eat it yet. It’s imperative, especially for large breeds, to have a good bed. Arthritis eats away on the bones such as rust eats away metal. Feeling confident that my dog isn’t breathing in material composed of carcinogens, and has no pressure points, definitely gives me peace of mind. When my puppy matures and stops eating everything in sight, I am going to get the two couch big barkers at the largest size and combine both of them so all of my dogs can sleep together. Thanks for creating the best bed ever! My dogs love their big barker beds so much! For those who are daunted by the price, think of it this way: I was spending $60 on a Kong bed per month, that equates to $720 a year, and that doesn’t even include tax. Their big barker headrest that I got almost 6 years ago looks the same as it did when I first brought it home. I have a waterproof liner for the headrest as well, and it’s keeping the bed from deteriorating. It hasn’t lost its firmness at all. The headrest bed is literally nicer than my bed. My bed is the memory foam with springs. A huge Thank you to Eric from my dogs and I! It’s nice to know that there are individuals such as yourself that go above and beyond to help dogs! This mat is so much better than the old ones that needed to be filled with water and were heavy and cumbersome. This is lightweight and easy to move, but works like a charm. My chronically warm Akita puppy absolutely LOVES his crate with this mat in it. It's easy to clean, it clearly stays cool (because he's always looking for the coldest spot in the house), and we've had no problem with those sharp puppy nails causing any damage. Our pug loves this mat!! It’s huge, he could easily only need half this size, but it is so nice for him to have space to spread out, cool his belly, and relax his breathing. We live in a very very very humid location that, after 12-15 minutes, is too much for a little pug. This is a highly effective solution to quickly cool and ease his stress. Size is smaller than expected leaving a considerable gap been it and the sides of the crate (measured before ordering the pan). However as I use it with a crate pad larger than necessary, that isn’t a big concern. It appears much sturdier than the original it replaces. I expect it should last longer.Carol

As soon as I put it on the floor my dog ran straight for it! He loves just how soft it is. Because he gets hot fast, with how thin it is it just let's the cool floor underneath keep him satisfied.Zeekboy

I use the bed for my cat and she seemed to like it, it's light and stays out of the way. Also jilly (my cat) use it as a scratch mat. But the only thing is it's kind of small and most large dogs wouldn't fit. over all I love it.Nicki

This lasted 2 times in my dogs crate. The major problem is the emblem/tag they put on the bed. My dog sees this kind of stuff and tries to remove it any way possible. Very disappointed as this was not durable like the overview stated. Now we are out $25 and no crate mat. You can see from my photo that the emblem is the only place that she chewed.Tina

we buy expensive dog beds but didn't want to purchase kennel sized mats while our puppy is growing. finding this was perfect. now, she is a puppy and she chews and she has a leg bone, Nyla bones and pig ears in her bed that she does enjoy but cleaning her kennel yesterday i noticed that she's cheating the threading. I guess I assumed they'd be put together better. I would recommend for small adult dogs or short term for puppiesAmanda

I chose this pad over the fluffy microsuede material because my rescue was on its way home to me. I only had an hour otherwise I would have bought one on amazon. Found this mat at my local walmart and thought the material would be resistant to my little velociraptor of a doberman puppy. I was wrong. My 12 week dobie went straight for the orange piping on the corners and ripped them off the seam. Poor design…why couldn't they have left out the orange piping and just sewed them shut? Fabric overall was fine and more durable. I put fleece blankets on top but she's too smart and went for those dumb corners. Again, stupid design because now I'm looking for dog bed covers to conceal the damage.Divina
