We installed the in ground wire around the perimeter of our property. I have one dog that digs under our fence and one that climbs the fence. These collars keep our dogs away from the fence and keeps them from running out into the street. We have had our fence for 5 years now and only replaced the collars once because I misplaced them. Batteries need replacement every few months. I like that the dogs get a beeping warning once they are within a few feet of the perimeter and only get shocked if they cross the boundary.fldolphinmc
I have a lab / hound mix that is 11 years old and she weighs about 85lbs. We began usin this collar since April 2017 and within 3 months, one of the prongs broke off. We contacted petsafe and were told that this is an uncommon problem and that the only way this could happen is due to "rough play, hitting it against an object, over-tightening the probes, etc." I have a hard time believing our senior aged dog plays rough enough to break the prongs of a durably made product. If you have a larger / sporting breed dog, i would steer clear of this product and go with Invisible Fence or the SportDOG brand from another retailer. They seem to cater to larger / sporting breeds. PetSafe Response Thank you for taking the time to share your review, Robert. We've had our fence under a year, no problems with the actual fence. We have 2 dogs on the fence, 1 is an English Mastiff and the other is a Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker Spaniel's clip/closure cracked and broke off so we had to go out and search almost an acre of property to find it. We did find it but it is a PAIN to have to go out and search for a collar that you would not expect to break. Recently our English Mastiff has been strolling off the property, she has never done that in the almost year we have had it. First think I did was check the battery and decided to be safe we would change it!! That didn't work so I decided to take off the collar and check it to make sure it worked and it does but there are certain times when it don't. I have it on the highest frequency and I'm hoping this works, I will keep you informed. But us like others are missing the clear caps that cover the button to change the frequency. I don't understand how these pieces can come off unless we take them off, this tells me that there is a malfunction in your manufacturing if we are not the only ones missing these caps!! Then to top it off, you sell these clear caps and expect us to pay for them, something doesn't seem right. If you know these clear caps come off, shouldn't you be trying to fix this issue and offer those caps or free? Rich T

Is this item a replacement for the RFA-577 model? The button on the training collar wore out and will not turn on the module anymore. I have gotten a solid two years out of the collar and I am very pleased with the results of responsible training for my dog. *Dominoe is a very well behaved dog and I am constantly getting compliments on his behavior. The remote is still in great shape so I'm in search of just the collar module. Thanks for any help and insight. In lieu of the current health situation; I hope this message finds you and the whole Petsafe team in good health and high spirits! Big Texas virtual elbow bump from a very happy/pleased customer! It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. Battery life not best, no off switch for remote, and you can only do 2 choices quickly (tone and vibrate or tone and static) only negatives. We use tone and static due to our dogs thick fur/ response.WMA6
I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. He also loves to swim and I love that this collar is waterproof. I hope it withstands all the summer swimming and lasts over time. It does say it’s waterproof.Lakegirl97
We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! LoL!Tvanderm

I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. And because he wants to play, he wants to run every stinkin where. Decided, for my sanity as well as his safety, I'd get this thing. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. He likes the freedom of being off leash in the yard, and like the fact that he's not road burger.SlimslowShady
I wanted to give it 5 stars so bad, but the batteries die pretty fast without warning. You need to keep at least one or two replacements on hand. I do love that it is wireless, that you can choose different ranges. But I had one dog that would escape no matter what. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! But, if you are hesitant as myself, about this system just give it a try AND I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SO SURPRISED!!!!! I love this system, and just hope that it lasts!!!!!!Owner of French Mastiff

Reviews:
Loved this remote control trainer! We have been using an older model and this one feels so high tech!! My favorite thing about it is the option to have 2 dogs on the same controller! My second favorite thing is that it is rechargeable! No more dead collars, remotes or wasting $$ on batteries! Dogs were very responsive to it-one just needs to hear the sound, while the other gets a little more distracted and needs something more! 3 different settings give a nice variety to choose from! An extra “feature” that I wouldn’t have thought of is the shape/size of the controller-it was really designed with the user in mind! It is a little high tech at first, but very easy to learn!Susie
I got this product to replace an older model that I have had for years for a yellow lab. He is generally well behaved, it is just times he gets a little too excited and forgets to listen. First off the fact that this has static and vibration built into one is awesome. I feel much better using the vibration only and my dog responds well to it. I like know the static feature is there for more of a back up. The unit was very easy to set up and understand. The daily use is very simple, although I would like the buttons to be more pronounced, as I usually have the controller in my pocket. Range has not be an issue at all, although I am generally close by so I can’t see that ever being an issues. The only “cons” I have found so far are the strap for the collar seems a little flimsy and the “lanyard” for the controller could be longer. Over all, I would absolutely recommend this product. As I said, I am using it for a yellow lab (he is 83 lbs.) and have zero issues!Sprout004
I've been loving getting to know and use this training collar. I have a one year old Golden Retriever who listens fairly well but occasionally loses focus and tends to bolt (to birds, squirrels, great smells, etc.) and I needed something to snap his attention back to me. This collar so far has been excellent for that. I LOVE how many settings it has. So far, I've been lucky enough to only have to use the tone – it's just enough to snap him out of his focus (or lack there of 😉 ) and listen to me. I enjoy that it allows for vibration before static as well. The collar itself is very adjustable. I love that it's waterproof. 600 yards is great too, we have several acres and it gives me peace of mind that even if my boy makes it further than usual, I can still reach him. My only personal downside is the remote buttons. They're fairly hard to press with my arthritic hands. I understand they shouldn't be too easy so as to not accidentally be depressed when not meaning to. Not a deal breaker at all – again, just my own downside. I really like that I can charge the remote and collar at the same time with the charger. So far the charge has lasted longer than expected too. All in all, a great tool for your training toolbox!seajay

IF YOU USE THIS PRODUCT CONSISTANTLY AND RESPONSIBLY IT WILL HELP TRAIN YOUR DOG… THIS PRODUCT HAS SAVED MY DOG MANY TIMES WE SHE RUNS OUT THE FRONT DOOR INTO THE STREET. I SHOUT HER NAME AND PRESS THE COMMAND BUTTON. SHE TURNS AROUND IMMEDIATELY AND COMES BACK INTO THE HOUSE. SOME PEOPLE MAY THINK THIS IS A HARSH OR MEAN WAY TO TRAIN YOUR DOG. IT WOULD BE A LOT WORSE TO BE HIT BY A CAR….LEXI1
This product saved a pound pooch. We adopted a 2 year old schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) from a shelter. He is smart, learns tricks and basic commands quickly (with treats), but he will ignore you when he doesn't feel like obeying. His biggest issue was diving out the door any time it was opened, and when he got outside, he would run off and not return until he was finished exploring (even when called). It only took a few "stimulations" to teach him to come back when called. It has also been useful in training our "cat-dog" to stay off tables. The unit has 15 intensity settings, and we normally only have to set it on 2 or 3 (when dealing with the outside run off problem, we had to turn it up to 7 one time.) Contrary to the product directions, we use the tone feature as a warning prior to "stimulation" as we also have an electronic fence for him that uses a tone to warn him to stay in the boundaries. Therefore, trying to use the tone on the training collar as positive reinforcement would have confused him. After only 2 weeks, 99% of the time, all we have to do anytime he is disobeying in anyway is give the warning tone. He has also learned not to wander too far from me when he is off the leash. He weighs 14 lbs and has a neck circumference of 10 inches. The collar fit fine after adjusting it and cutting off the excess. The receiver is also one of the smallest of all the brands/models we looked at. Our dog has also tested the waterproof feature, as he took a dive in a swamp yesterday. So far, the unit is still functioning. The unit does have to be charged daily, even with limited use.CritterLuvR2
So far this is working like a charm on my 5 1/2 month old puppy. I'm impressed.seeterita

8. Petsafe Basic Static Bark Collar
Product Details:
Reviews:
I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! PETSAFE RESPONSE Thank you for sharing your experience, Melisa! We are glad to hear that our bark collar has done the trick to keep your Chiweenie's barking down. You may find it helpful to know that we have a smaller unit that is not so bulky that can be seen here : http://store.petsafe.net/deluxe-little-dog-bark-controlMelisa W.
I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I'm done wasting my money! PETSAFE RESPONSE Thank you for taking the time to review the Basic Static Bark Collar. We are terribly sorry to hear that it did not work well for your puggle and beagle, and can understand your frustration! These collars must be lined up with the vocal cords in order to detect the vibration of the bark. It is possible that an alternate strap that is more like a belt instead of the nylon make make a difference. Please reach out to us at 1-866-738-4379.M.
I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I noticed there were people walking their dogs (we lived right next to the dog trail) and sure enough my dog darts out to the back yard and again barked once, then stopped. I was shocked! I wanted to see if it was really working so I took it off and my dog ran out there and started his annoying bark. I called him in and out the collar back on and again ran out but this time he did not bark. I must have done this about 3-4 times and the results were the same. Here we are 1 week from the day I bought it and my dog's behavior has completely changed. Everytime I let him out to potty, I'll put his collar on and no unnecessary barking from him. I would have never thought we'd get to where we are now. I'm not even exaggerating when i say my dog barked all the time and now he knows not to.Milosmommy702

We were initially worried that this product might not be the best for our little schnauzer, but it has proved to be very effective without hampering his socialising. He has quickly learned that he shouldn’t bark when wearing the collar. He wears it for short periods, as per the comprehensive instructions. He is happy for us to put it on, so we are confident that the experience isn’t harmful or frightening. A very good training tool.Claire W
Stopped the shrill barking in 2 hours! Seven-month-old GSD lost her mind in her crate when you were doing anything but paying attention to her. This allowed her to learn quickly and now we associate the 'quiet' command when she stops. We've had the collar less than 24 hours. I no longer feel like I have to work at a supersonic speed to get anything done with the other dogs. I wish I would have gotten this sooner.Quieter In Florida
Purchased the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765 in March 2019. Fast forward 7 months, I wish I had purchased The BarkCollar by DogWatch – No Bark Trainer BT-7 in the first place. Spending the extra money and doing your research is worth it! We have a Labrador and we noticed a sudden change in her behaviour when we moved house. 5am pedestrians and dog walkers and foxes passing by would set her off and we’d often have to get out of bed to give positive reinforcement or bring her inside. In the beginning, I purchased the the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765. It came with free Replacement Batteries and I purchased an extra pack to save on future postage. Initially, our Labrador responded quickly and barking reduced, however, I don’t believe this was the correct unit for our girl. Her irritability and persistent barking returned to full on annoyance after about four weeks. We replaced the first two complementary batteries, every 4-6 weeks and by August, I purchased 2 replacement Petsafe Red Nylon Straps, as they deteriorate and become too loose. After months of persevering, I returned to Bark Control website to do some further research. In October, purchased The BarkCollar by DogWatch – No Bark Trainer BT-7 and I wish I had done this in the first place!

Only took 2-3 sessions and 2 mild static corrections to have my frisky Doberman trained! She loves to bolt into the woods at the first sign of this stray cat and nothing has been able to prevent it until now. I even let her out without the collar and she stays in the designated area. I heard that the battery dies quickly on the collar so when she is not outside, I take the battery out of the collar to lengthen the battery life. It's been 6 months and still on the original battery. If you live in a condo/townhouse, you may have to get creative with the base placement since the radius is a circle.dgoleno
This system of pet containment is one of the best things we've purchased and have been using for years. We have 2 transmitters at home and 2 more at a vacation cottage. 2 allows for a larger area for dogs by over lapping fields of coverage. This transmitter purchase was to replace one that finally failed.denistonsfeldt
We currently rent our home so putting up fencing is not an option for us. This wireless fence allows us to let our dog enjoy some perceived freedom. The system works very well and keeps our pup confined to our yard. Batteries in the collar have to be changed on a regular basis. If not, you may find yourself chasing down an overjoyed dog who intentionally runs through every puddle in your neighborhood. I highly recommend this product especially if fencing is cost prohibitive or not an option for you and your pet.kathie5172

I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉
Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504
For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. I love this product and I highly recommend it! P.S. It also works for my other dog, my terrier just gets her hyped up with his barking but now they are my quiet little hellhounds 🙂lbll12

I one hundred percent recommend this product. I have used E collars in the past but my dogs respond so much better and I get positive reinforcement with ultrasonic tone. It's not painful to my dogs but gets immediate response on recall or stopping negative behavior and it has a reward tone for doing good. Great product. Recommended to all my fellow dog owners.Big Dollar Pittbulls
First the website should indicate a 9V battery is required to operate the remote. Nor does it indicate it on the packaging. Fortunately I had on on hand after it was apparent one was needed. Second: The sound is wonderful for her ears and not mine. She perks up each time she hears the noise. I reward her with a small treat. It wasn't until we went for our walk the next day that I was able to try out the "N" part of the remote. I use it together with the words (not new to her) "leave it." It appears to work just find when on a busy road and we are on a sidewalk. However, we live in a condominium atmosphere and golf carts, Fed Ex and UPS trucks are about and close to a walker where there are no sidewalks. For the record, she is a Dingo, rescued street dog for 2 1/2 years from Puerto Rico. I am her very first owner. She has come along way however when her mind is set on the nasty golf cart, etc. the remote will not work. Period. She tunes it out and is completely focused on the "nasty." Overall I would recommend the remote. Its effectiveness will depend on the mindset of the dog to begin with and of course utmost patience with the owner/handler with teaching.Duchess

By far the best price that I could find. The UltraLight Receiver Collar was in perfect shape and in excellent working order. The only condition issue was that the battery was nearly dead. I installed a new battery and it's working great a month later. Money savings will buy a life time of batteries.19galaxie66

This took my husband and I about a couple of evenings to install. You bury the lead wire around the perimeter you don't want your fur baby to cross and the collar is light and works nicely! I have a jack Russel/Chihuahua that likes to snoop and sneak out of the yard and this little device has solved that problem. I only needed to use the tone mode and that worked fabulously. I bought an additional collar for my blue heeler. She is a bit more strong willed and faster, so static mode worked for her. I'm thankful for this! It gives me peace of mind that my furry loved ones are safe.Ohosford
I installed this fence for my dog on a town lot that was around .25 acres. I must say you should definitely read the instructions fully before just starting this installation as you have to do some prep work, and this is not simply a plug and play fence if you want to trench it in. I think if there was an existing fence or something you could probably get away with just hanging the boundary wires directly to it but chances are that is not the case always. In my case I used a spade to kinda make the trench on my laid-out boundary line. I did this after a heavy rain as that made the task by hand much easier than the ground being rock hard like it is when it is dry. I stepped on the ground with my body weight after the installing the wire to kind of tamp the ground back in place and let mother nature do the rest over time to get the ground to settle. I did have to cross my driveway and really just shoved the wire in the expansion joint and shoved it down as far as I could. I just have to be conscience that I do not pierce the wiring when doing my edging. For my lot it took quite a bit of the 500 feet of included wire even though I consider it to be a pretty small lot. My dog has used wireless electric collars before so the training was not so difficult, but I did put out the included flags on the boundary line during training to make sure the boundary training went smoothly. The collar fit my dog nicely. As far as hooking up the boundary lines to the transmitter it was easy. I installed the plug-in wall unit in my garage and actually drilled a hole through a brick wall to get the boundary wire outside. I used caulk to seal off the hole with the wire to protect the weather and critters getting into my garage through the access hole. As I mentioned that since I have used wireless systems with my dog before the training was minimal and the system is working nicely.Country Man
We do not have a fence in our backyard and have to constantly leave our Poodle on a 30 foot leash when she runs around backyard. But I hate that she is even on a leash and can't run and live free. This fence is a perfect solution since we can not afford to install a proper yard fence. We set up the boundaries and it was easy to follow directions. I purchased the cat collar since she is a 8lb poodle this collar is much more soft and less bulky for her to wear daily. We put on vibration mode and she has been trained easily to remain in the property boundaries. I love the PetSafe Classic in ground fence. I highly recommend.Orlandomama

One day is all it took for my escape artist to stay in the yard. We now know that our fur-babies are safe in thier own area, Sure beats running home several times a day to round them up. Very easy to install, took us about 4 hours from start to finish. We did not bury the wire (one is a digger) but put it into PVC around the yard. It protects the wire from lawnmowers, weed eaters and digging. The wite PVC also serves as a reminder to the dogs that it is the line in the sand to not cross. It was easy to put the wire around a herb garden to keep themy from jumping on it, My big guy will bolt to the corner of the yard but hits the brakes hard within five feet of the line. I set up the white flags around the yard so they will know where to stop. The directions were easy to understand and online had pictures to give us ideas and how tho set off areas. I would recommend the stubborn big dog to anyone who needs to contain their babies.jamieladie

Let me prequalify this by saying that I am a fan of PetSafe Products. The Stay and Play Wireless fence and the Large Dog Citronella Anti-Bark Collars have worked flawlessly for my medium size indoor/outdoor pup. I also have a 1.5 year old Yorkie, and the PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control has design and operational flaws that I can't overlook: 1. The unit's sensor is not a typical rear sensor, and it doesn't pick-up normal barking unless it is high intensity (this is WHEN it works). 2. The unit does not last for the full amount of sprays. 3. The unit has to be at a high level of tightness to the point of almost choking the dog to remain in place in order to be correctly positioned to both pick-up the barking and deliver the spray. 4. The unit does not have an ON/OFF switch other than turning the battery, and then you have to manipulate even that when wanting to reset the bark counter. The bark counter should be reset in the electronics when the battery is removed if that's the case and reflect this in the refill directions for the spray. At the end of the day, I have use spray collars for my outdoor dog at my home for years, so I am familiar with the quirks. I have remained faithful to PetSafe, and they never let me down. The Elite Little Dog Spray collar is not up to their usually high standards. I have bought one, exchanged one, and bought another to give this product a fair chance, and I am heading to Petco this morning to return the last one as a disappointed customer. I have moved to an apartment from a home in the process of building a new house, so it is imperative that I be able to reinforce that excess barking is not acceptable. I suppose it will have to be with another product.PharmDrew
I bought two of these and neither of them worked. The first one worked for about a week of occasional use. Then it started leaking a steady, tiny hiss of spray from the intake hole. Months later, on a road trip w/now 2 small dogs I picked up 2 of the older, silver models that use the 6 volt batteries. They still work great (2 years later, intermittent use for overnights away from home or having exciting visitors that the dogs celebrate vocally, Enthusiastically, unceasingly. Also for occasional backyard relaxing if the neighbor kids get the dogs too excited.) I shared one with my sister for her dog on a hotel overnight and it was a revelation to her. I tried to buy her one but can only find the new “elites” with that proprietary battery so I caved, hoping the leaky one I had was a fluke. I got a few inconsistent sprays out of it, many barks without spray, then it just quit completely. I tried a new battery, refilled the spray and The lights did their thing correctly when I followed the steps to turn it on. Then I tested it by loudly barking right up against The back of it, tapping the back of it, holding it against my own throat and trying different tones of loud singing and yelling… nothing. I’ve wasted too much $ on the bad new design ones that don’t work. I really wish I could get another old silver model one to give my 4 legged niece. Obviously the requirement of a $15 proprietary battery makes this PetSafe’s preferred model to make, regardless of it’s consistent failure to function. Disappointing.JenMN
I must admit, I was skeptical of these kinds of products, but because my 12-year-old Shih Tzu has been exhibiting a lot of separation anxiety for the past few years–resulting in lots of barking and a neighbor complaining — I decided to give it a try. In short, it's been a God send! After wearing the collar for only one or two days, my dog got the "message," and stopped barking completely. In fact, she's become a much calmer dog as a result. I've had the product now for about six weeks now, and barking is no longer an issue. So, I am amazed and very happy with this product. I initially bought a shock collar, but didn't have the heart to use it on her, so I opted for this spray-style collar and couldn't be happier. I only have one minor complaint: Activating the collar requires turning a dial with a coin. Unfortunately, when turning, you have to be real precise and hit exact spot, which can be hard to do sometimes. If you turn a bit too far or not enough, it will not activate. So, you have to kind of fool around with it to find the precise "On" position. Other than this, I am very pleased.
19. Petsafe Ultrasonic Bark Control Collar
Product Details:
The ultrasonic bark control collar uses an ultrasonic tone to deter nuisance barking, giving you peace and quiet wherever you and your dog go. whenever your dog barks, he'll hear a high-pitched sound that's inaudible to most humans. the harmless yet annoying ultrasonic tone stops as soon as he stops barking, which quickly and effectively teaches your dog to stop barking. the collar is lightweight, water-resistant, and comfortable so your dog can where it at home, the vet, the park, or anywhere he likes to bark. a low battery indicator will let you know when to change the 3-volt lithium batteries. ultrasonic bark correction is often the best bark control solution for many dogs. however, it will not work for all dogs because of factors like age, hearing ability, and temperament.

Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper
When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on training collars, or bark collars! Worked great!Lauj
my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

I purchased this product on my brother's recommendation. I have 10 dogs and 14 guineas and only one of the dogs would kill our fowl. My brother had used collars on his dogs with problem behavior and they are now great dogs. I was a little hesitant to use it because I'm not a electric stimulus collar user. It worked great. I don't have to use the stimulus button anymore, just use the tone and she knows she's too close to the guineas. It's not harsh–u determine the settings–and it's well made.guinealady
I bought this collar because we have 3 small dogs with varying issues mostly barking that one starts and it triggers the other two and drives us crazy lol. I started with one dog it took a day and maybe 4 corrections and practically instant results. Second dog had the worst issues especially maniacal barking on walks at other dogs and people. It was almost instantaneous with him and it's abit of a shock(no pun intended) how fast it worked to help. The price seemed abit much but after using it,it was money well spent to bring some much needed tranquility to our home and everyone's a lot happier. I highly recommend this productChris P
Was hesitant to get this b/c I wasn't sure it was humane. After talking to my vet, I felt comfortable making the purchase. IMMEDIATELY, my wonderful, yet poorly socialized Mini Schnauzer changed his ways. It only took a few zaps, and now he responds to tone only. I would NOT walk him b/c he would go spastic when we met other people and/or dogs — now, although he is still interested in them, I can hit the tone and he just keeps walking. Also, his barking in the backyard has improved tremendously. I send him out, and if he starts barking excessively, I hit the tone button and it stops. I now have no fear about taking him out in "public." Some worry that it makes them more aggressive, etc., but I will tell you he is still the same playful, lovable dog. It truly saved us from having animal control show up on our doorstep!! You will wince at the price, but after one day you will realize it was a bargain — best money you ever spent.Xandi
