My dog had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics he was on after having a few teeth pulled. The itch was driving him crazy. Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. Even when I cover them he trys to get the bandage off to get at them. It says this provides some pain relief, so I'm hoping that will discourage the licking. Bebe is one of my Min. PIns, and a show dog. When she was about 8 months old, my sister was taking her to a show in Ca. That morning Bebe, out in the yard got into a nest of ants. Everything seemed ok until my sister got to the show ground. Bebe was sick, running a temp, and had sores on both sides along her ribs, and down the backs of both back legs. By Sunday when my sister arrived home, Bebe had gaping open wounds on both sides of her ribs and down the backs of both hind legs. My sister had her on the meds the Vet in Ca had but Bebe on, but they were not doing much good. We had a bottle of vetericyn and my sister started using it twice a day on Bebe's wounds. By the next weekend, the wounds on Bebe were closed and looking ever so much better. At the end of the month she was all healed up. I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. Im not a vet but am thinking whatever it was it was some type of fungal infection. Benefits of product; it wasnt expensive, was easy to apply, and has a light pleasant scent.Debbie
I am so thankful to have found this today! My poor dog could not stop scratching and licking under his front legs, and they were raw and bleeding. He was whimpering but would not stop. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. I bought this product Saturday and used it Sunday on my mare since she got her foot stuck in the fence and she pull it out and ripped off the hid of her ankle right above the coronary band. My dog had a spider bite on his neck and he kept scratching at it until it got bloody and infected and some of his hair fell off on in the same area. I purchased this product and applied it on the area that evening, and applied it again the following evening. The following morning I checked the area to apply some more and saw that the area looked clean. My dog stopped scratching at it and just about healed. My dog’s paw was inflamed and seemed like he had an infection going on. This was the perfect tool to use on my boy before I could take him to the vet’s office the next day. It is a topical cream that you can apply to the wounded area. It didn’t make my pup feel discomfort or make him go crazy. It’s an amazing product because it is an antibacterial and it helps fasten your pets recovery rate as if you were to leave the wound untouched. It did help clean it up a bit but did not entirely get rid of the infection. The vet did tell me that this was a great product to use for first aid. For first time pet parents I advise you to not wrap up the infection and just let it air out with a cone around your pups head. My mare, Smoke, got herself tangled in a barbed wire fence last September. It was the week of State Finals! I was distraught I had to take another horse. My horse was found with a horrible cut, outcome did not look good at all, our vet was no where near close to our house. But luckily I work at Carolinas Animal Health and knew what I needed to get. I had used this to clean wounds or as a liquid bandage after I used hosing with my own disinfecting formula. In cold weather when I did not want to hose constantly this stuff was great. My border collie was attacked by a mountain lion and spent several days hiding somewhere. I thought he was dead after hearing that cat scream. One morning, there he was on the porch a huge stinking mass of blood, tissue, fur and dirt.  I managed to get him into the bath tub and washed him for two and a half hours to get the dried blood and dirt off him. We then drove to the vet. After sedating him, she started clipping and exposed a would that was twelve inches by 18 inches and bones were exposed. We had to chip  and pick away the infected bone in his spine and shoulder. This was a huge wound. The vet made a  dressing for it and of course gave him a shot of antibiotics and  sent him home with an oral course to be given. The dressing needed to be changed and cleaned every day and I finally would clean it and use Vetericyn Spray and gel, cover with an adult diaper and wrap with Vetrap. We did this for two months finally getting to Newborn size diapers. Through all this he continued to work on the farm as if nothing had happened despite a limp from the sore shoulder. Since that time I have used Vetericyn on dogs cats and horses and the eye formula for cattle. I had a horrible leg wound that a plastic surgeon said would require skin grafts. The product works well. Unfortunately I have to keep it around because I have 2 large dogs that get into fights. The spray does most of the breaking up of the fight but it takes the whole can. If the can is not completely full as I've come to learn it isn't enough to help me break up the fight. I wish the can held a few more ounces. I have a big German shepherd/malamute mix, a very sweet dog but with problems around other large breeds. We adopted him 1 1/2 years ago and didn't know his temperament entirely, but noticed his aggression. I've been through at year of training with him, but still there's an occasional problem. SpraySheild has effectively diverted the dogs' attention to allow me and other owners/handlers to intervene safely to prevent a real dog fight. I have also used it to intervene with other dogs fighting, all in dog parks. Again, it was hugely effective. Every once in awhile my Mother’s miniature poodles get into a scuffle and they really don’t want to stop. Yelling, and pulling them apart hasn’t been the best solution. And the spray shield worked! Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. My OTTB who was on the track for 9 years gets frequent abscesses. He refuses to put his hoof in a bucket, especially the front hooves. If I get it in the bucket the longest he will let me do it is 5 minutes tops and the water flies everywhere. The ANIMALINTEX POULTICE is easy to apply and you can leave it on over night and walk away. To apply it I soak it in warm water, then wrap with vet wrap and then cover it with duct tape. Before I start the application I create a boot with the duct tape by cutting 4 approx 12 inch strips that I place together horizontally than I cute 4 more equally sized strips and cross them vertically over the horizontal strips.
