Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I know this is going to sound crazy, but stick with me. Initially, we bought this for my dog, naturally, because she gets Hotspot, and rashes on her belly. They cleared that up super quickly. Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. This Gel is NOT just for horses. I was having a terrible pain in my shoulder radiating down to my elbow in my right arm from a car accident years ago (arthritis). The gel did wonders. Although this product is labeled veterinary liniment and recommended for animals only, I have used it for years for joint and arthritis pain upon the recommendation by my Hollywood Stuntmen friends as the only thing they use. I was pleasantly surprised at the immediate relief felt so have continued to use it since for my personal use and have referred it to many friends who also have become consistent users of this gel product. I prefer the gel since it applies more easily without a mess. I must caution however not to rub your eyes after application until after you have thoroughly washed your hands (and no that is not a word of caution based on personal experience…lol). After noticing hyperkeratinosis on the paws of my senior basset hound (Baxter), I researched various products, and this one seemed to have the best reviews. Looking at the ingredients, sure you could make this stuff yourself, but for the money, it's more affordable to just buy a container, especially when a little goes so far. When I first put it on, he wasn't happy. I suppose his feet hurt so much on those spots, touching them was painful. However, shortly after using it, it was if he was a different dog. I'm not trying to allude that this is a miracle cure, or will change your pet significantly, but when considering that he went from watching my other dogs to playing with them, and walking with a better stride, and being happier in general, I give it a ton of credit. It has been a few weeks, and his feet are softer, but not totally cured. I was very curious when I got this for my pup because this is a unique type of dog treat that is great for dental health as well as allergies and the best part, all natural. I have never tried this brand before with Rosie but after reading more about the brand I love that all of Zesty Paws products contain only natural ingredients, and nothing artificial about it. My dog is a small beagle mixed breed but the bag says these are safe for small, medium and large breeds. This is a 25oz bag but it can be purchased in different sizes. These dental sticks will support the immune system, while relieving any seasonal allergies and also improving dental health. I was curious also about the special formula which contains EpiCor. This is antioxidants, fiber, protein, and vitamins. There is a hemp protein which provides omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids also supporting the immune system and helping to relieve any itchy or hot spot which I found fascinating because this is a supplement and medicine-free. We mainly use the product for calming purposes for our three dogs. We have a 3y8m old 67 pound German Wirehaired Pointer, a 3y5m old 55 pound Small Standard Goldendoodle, and a 1y3m old 16.5 pound Havapoo. The dental cleaning aspect is an added bonus. We don't give daily. We give two to the bigger dogs, and one to the smaller one, and they seem to calm the house just enough. These aren't a magic fix-all, but, for us, it helps our pups relax enough when they are worked up over something. They also smell nice compared to other dental treats out there. What we don't like is that they are too easy for my bigger dogs to eat. So if you are getting them to help with teeth cleaning, your dog might eat them too quickly and not benefit from chewing on it.
My dogs love them! I have 2 large dogs (155 lbs & 130 lbs) so I wish the sticks were bigger, but they just love them as a tasty, little snack. If I give them more than one treat, they always choose the calming dog chews first. I think it's even helped with their doggie breath too. I'm sure it helps with calming, but since I just give them one and because of their size, I'm sure they would need more for it to be really effective. My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. Very best natural shampoo on the market. My little morky is allergic to flea bites and if even one gets on her she will start scratching and all her hair starts falling out yntil we do something to get them off her which is usually a pill and a good bath to clean off the eggs this shampoo does exactly what its advertised to do and I hope they never stop making it. I bought the P.H. travel set to see if this would help my highly allergic, health challenged Scottish Terrier. (I've tried so many things, prescription and non prescription) Shes constantly on antibiotics for the sores that crop up all over her body and stomach from allergies. I have a mare who has super sensitive skin. She was out to pasture in the spring and before I could notice the gnats got to her belly and it was bad. She had hair falling out, was rubbed raw, swollen, itchy, scabby… I used this with a combo of fly/gnat spray every night after brushing and it was magically healed in a week. I will always have a bottle of Banixx in my house now. I have a Great Dane mix that has severe skin sensitivities. This is the product that my farrier has been recommending to me and I have used it for a long time. I just wish that the bottle had a more convenient way for the product to be dispersed on the specific area of the hoof. My vet recommended daily use of Kopertox till the thrush resolved, since it was pretty advanced. I set up a Kopertox station outside with gloves, hoof pick and a bucket to hold the Kopertox bottle between uses. Had to stop after 7 days as my Border Collie likes to roll in the drippings. So I have a beabull, mostly English bulldog. He’s a 7/8 mix. Out of nowhere his cute little black nose started getting crusty and cracked. I waited a while and it didn’t let up. A friend said there was nothing you could do but I found this online. I didn’t think it would work but we are on day four and his nose is DRASTICALLY improved. He hates when I put it on (he does that with everything ever though) so I have to put some peanut butter on a spoon and have him lick it after I apply it to his nose or he’ll just lick it right off his nose. I bought this for my dog’s (14 year old Shar Pei) keratin buildup on his nose and paws. It dissolved the stuff great and I was able to wipe off the stuff on his paws after one application. That was really impressive. My dog has fairly mild Hyperkeratosis but his nose gets a fairly thick layer of buildup, and this product allows you to remove it fairly easily after a few applications over a couple days and a cooperative pooch. I was really impressed with how well it worked. I use it now preventatively which prevents bad buildup on his nose and paws, so all in all I’m certainly a big fan. I recommend at least the 2oz can if you think you’ll use it on the paws. The 2 oz can generally lasts me a couple months even with multiple applications per day.
