I have intentionally waited to write a review because I wanted to give enough time to see if the Fidoplex was going to make a difference. I bought this supplement a year ago because my cavalier king charles spaniel had recently experienced two bad episodes with ivdd and she’s only 4 years old. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. This product is supposed to contain 2.5 ml per vial for the "large dog" size. I bought several that appeared short, so I measured the volume. The 3 vials measured (2 different packs) were closer to 2ml per vial. Therefore, there is a question about the efficacy of the volume/rate provided. I really like the active ingredient combination in the generic and the premium Bayer product, and prefer it helping prevent mosquito-vectored illnesses, in addition to fleas and ticks. However, the reduced volume is a problem–not what the EPA approved. Also, it is odd that our 32 and 42 pound dogs both qualify as "Large Dogs," but that category description conforms with the strange category of Advantix II, the name brand product.BLUF

I started purchasing Advecta 3 around April of this year. I have a Pitbull/St Bernard mix that has horrible flea allergies. I have tried every flea med on the market and Advecta is the only one he hasn't had any type of reaction to!! Used to use a brand from the vet for years and they recently changed the formula and it no longer worked the same, it also had horrible effects on the entire family fur babies included! We had a terrible outbreak of fleas this last spring and had to purchase something locally and very urgently so in a way you could say we where forced into “settling” for this product along with the hartz home spray. We where very pleasantly surprised that this product worked nearly instantly to rid our poor fur babies of all the dreadful little buggers that had been making life miserable. Did not prevent ticks. Made my pup shed an insane amount. Needed to go to vet to get my 6 month old dog weighed to see how much he went up in size for flea and tick medication after finding one on him, we decided to get him this product while we waited to see the vet- after shampooing with this product and ensuring he was tick free, a new one appeared the day after his bath very alive and not affected by the shampoo used or repelled by it. Thankfully was able to get into the vet to have him weighed and get him his medication but this does not do as advertised as far as ticks are concerned. The soap itself is very watery and lots just goes down the drain. However, it did work up a good lather unlike what some reviews have said. Bad news is, it does not repel fleas from my experience. We purchased this shampoo, as our Rottweiler was very itchy at night. Prior to buying this, I asked how long would this shampoo work? The shampoo works immediately. Essentially it kills any live fleas on the dog, however, this shampoo is not made to continue fighting fleas days later. You need to invest in getting your dog on a flea treatment program to combat ongoing flea issues. This works! I was using an all natural shampoo but my poor puppy needed more help. Shes too young for a flea medication so I used this once a week and in between used the natural flea shampoo. I honestly think this is more of a placebo effect type deal, it’s cheaper than most other sprays I’ve tried (I’ve tried almost everything) and it Does work when sprayed directly on a flea. The flea starts acting really weird immediately, stops being able to jump and eventually dies. The problem is, in most cases you just spray this around, not directly on fleas. Personally I hate the smell too but I’ve had worse. We have 3 pets, I’ve been dealing with a Severe infestation for months, every time I think I’m getting it under control, it gets worse. I previously never used conditioner on my Samoyed because their outer coat is not supposed to be soft however due to recurring Staph skin infection I have to bathe him weekly usually with a 4% chlorhexidine shampoo. After a while this tends to be drying so I began using a conditioner. So far I like Zymox Enzymatic the most for the following reasons: -it is not greasy & does not leave a greasy residue so it is not necessary to rinse it completely out -when diluted I can actually use it as a spray on leave in conditioner -since the chlorhexidine shampoo kills all the bacteria on the skin both good & bad, I like that the enzyme help restore the natural microbial balance on the skin -it smells really nice! Not perfumey or too strong, just a light fresh scent that I can best describe perhaps as herbaceous. Like fresh cut grass, lavender, etc but not overly minty. I needed to use this product for some time to appreciate its abilities. My dog likes to spend time outside rolling around and doing dog things. This leads to her coming into the house, tracking dirt and the pesky fleas. We've done well to mitigate it in the past, but PetArmor helped in the process. Within a few days, we noticed that she would not be scratchy when coming back into the house, then we didn't have to treat her bedding as much. Very nice! In the past, I have given my dog oral medication to prevent flea and ticks. It worked well but I was never comfortable with the fact that he had to ingest the medicine. I decided we’d use a topical solution for this summer and this is working great so far. The application was easy and the the applicator worked well. I’ve had to apply a different brand on foster puppies in the past and sometimes, the liquid would just all flow right out during the first contact, leaving no medicine for the rest of the dog’s back. It wasn’t the case with PetArmor. I had good control to dispense the product with their applicator. My dog had no discomfort whatsoever on the application sites. The product didn’t leave his coat all oily or smelly. I love that you can scan a QR code in the box and the brand will send a text 30 days later as a reminder for when the next dose is due. Their formula contains Fipronil and (S)-methoprene like most expensive well-known brands but at a more affordable cost. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. This stuff not only took care of the fleas on the dogs and cats but the ones in the house would jump on the dogs would die to. Havent had an issue since.Corvet08

It's very distressing to find 3 happy engorged ticks on your dog 24 hours after treatment following all the requirements re: proper placement location on the dog, shaved the hair to make contact only on the skin, no water on the dog for 24 hours or at all after treatment. I was frankly, pretty shocked. This is an older small dog with arthritis. He is already in some pain and to find the ticks on him on top of this frankly really upset me. I breed Chihuahuas and I also foster cats/kittens. My Chihuahuas are litter box trained so they rarely get fleas because they dont spend a whole lot of time outside. Even when we go for walks, theyre in a dog stroller lol. Anyways… I fostered a litter of kittens that were found outside and covered in fleas. I purchased the shampoo because my sweet Calico had this itch in her belly area and there were little, red bumps that would appear. She seemed so uncomfortable and I didn't want to keep spending $150 every vet visit for the steroid shot. This product is wonderful! My dog had such dry skin from Allergies that he was loosing hair on his back leg and tail from constantly chewing on it and chasing his tail. I tried the Oxy Med Anti-itch and it has helped tremendously . I just spray it on him a couple times a day and rub it into his skin; it been about a week and he has stopped chewing/scratching and his hair is starting to grow back. He does lick at it sometimes but it hasn't caused him any harm.

Real review here — if your dog’s rash is chronic and severe, this alone will not completely rid of it (you should really go to your vet), however, it definitely makes a difference. I’m a pet sitter and had a dog stay with me who came with a chronic rash made worse by my grass. I used this in combination with Good&Well Oatmeal Medicated Shampoo/Conditioner and it made a huge difference. I continued to use the spray alone after his bath and could see the difference in him.
