While it hasn't happen, I worry the wood will not last as long as if I had done that. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. I have been using these large Permate dog houses to house my Nigerian Dwarf goats for many years. They have made "affordable housing" for my goats. I will say that my bucks (boys) are much harder on the houses than the does (girls). Both genders jump on top, but the bucks crack the rain shield by jumping on top of the houses. This happens after a while, not right away. I don't blame the company that makes these because they are intended for dogs, not goats that love to climb! I do wish the tops would be stronger to prevent this problem from happening. Another area to improve design would be for the top to somehow lock on to the base. When my Great Pyrenees (GP) dog goes inside to lay down, the lid can lift/tilt off. The large size is not big enough for a GP. The price keeps going up, and I'm not pleased with having to pay more. I wait until the neighbor club coupon comes out to buy any needed replacement houses. Over the years I've bought countless Permate Large dog houses, so I know these pretty well! Looks very nice and hardy but it floods when it rains, I don't know how but the water gets inside and it is too much water. I put a crate pad inside for my outdoor cat to stay warm and went to check on my cat a few hours later after it rained, and the pad was soaking wet not to mention the house was full of water more water than what was outside . The dog house comes in two parts – top and bottom. They do not snap together; the top merely sits on the bottom. No hardware is provided to attach the two and even if there was there are no holes through which one would thread screws or bolts (or whatever) to keep the dog house together. I use these for my goats because these houses are inexpensive but the goats knowingly and regularly have fun pushing up on the exit/entrance hole to "break" the house into two pieces. Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven't had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida. Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog. Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn't have to do. I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm. This is made out of thin plastic, and you literally snap the pieces together. I would recommend getting the plastic crates that can be used indoors/outdoors, as they are sturdier and only in two pieces, and cost less. This is not sturdier, and the plastic also gets stress spots on it if you take the roof off to clean or whatever. It's also a tight fit for big dogs, which is good in winter, but not in summer… and if using to keep out of rain, a big dog would still get wet because his head would most likely be sticking out. The dog house looks nice once it's set up. However, the structure is not too stout and the walls are too thin as well as the floor. So I'll be needing to make a few improvements. I'll need to add some foam board to the walls to provide better insulation during the winter months. El plástico es lo suficientemente rígido como para cerrar bien y lo suficientemente flexible como para no asustar al perro cuando regrese. El soporte de montaje no se suministra, pero es muy fácil instalar esta puerta con un simple palo de madera o plástico. Lo puse en un soporte de plástico, sin hacer un agujero en el nicho y para poder quitarlo durante el verano. Genial

I bought the indigo pet door x-large a couple weeks ago and am extremely happy with how how quickly it arrived. It easy it was to install and the quality is exactly what was needed. This will definitely keep my Little Bit warm this winter when the cold hits here in Texas. I ordered the same door in a large before I went to Tractor Supply and bought the Indigo pet house. Little did I know my Little Bit isn't a "large" dog. Lol I ended up going with the XL house because I know how my fur baby likes to stretch out when he sleeps. I left Tractor Supply and immediately called customer service to see if I could change my order. It was to late, it had already been processed. The agent was very nice and ordered the XL door I needed & advised me to return the Large door to the store. The store refunded me with no questions asked!! Although I bought the door I'm not sure it will work as I want. I bought the Igloo and door for feral neighborhood cats to stay warm this winter. My one local outside cat walked into the Igloo and napped, but this was after I installed the door, flipped it up and taped it up inside. I taped it up in order to let cats get used to the Igloo and door after being installed. Later, after I know cats are going into the Igloo I will release the door and let it hang normally; hopefully, the cats will get used to going in and out of the Igloo and pushing through the door.Ward
The door seems to be working as designed and my dog quickly learned to use it with no problem. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the difficulty in installing it. There is so little space to hold the nut to put the bolt into (the bolt cannot be put in first!) that my awkward hands could not install it as designed. I wound up using zip ties instead, which seem to work well so far.Jeb232
