Crappiest tent I have ever owned… The flimsy design, cheap plastic poles (one of which already broke & this was literally the first time we set it up), and lack of instructions on set up/take down make this a COMPLETE waste of your $40. Really happy about my purchase, dog house looks really nice in the white & blueish & my dog loves it. Few pieces were slightly cracked, may have been from shipping, others from the screws being tightened, but not noticeable & overall the house feels pretty durable. Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. Second night was cooler, she decided to check it out so the head and front paws went thru the swinging door first, and after she had stood that way for about 5 minutes, walked all the way in, and has loved it ever since. From the size if it unless she grows as much as Clifford the big red dog, she'll get to enjoy for a lifetime.PJ

We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. Screwing metal into plastic is not a real good plan. I'm assuming the company will have replacement parts (door, window, etc…) available for my investment!Y Robinson

Easy to put together, nice color, big opening and plenty of height and space inside. Also like that it's a little above the ground, with a small ramp going inside. Perfect for our laying duck pair.Kathy

I bought this for my cats. They love it. 4 cats can sleep very comfortably in this. This is my 3rd dog house I have bought for the barn farm cats. PS. They also have the whole barn to their selves but they love being up at the house. Yes all 15 barn farm cats are spoiledShivy

This is a good quality, sturdy plastic dog house. We have a medium sized German Shepherd and he easily fits in the large dog kennel and has room to curl up and sleep. It does a pretty good job keeping the rain out, only a little splattering of water gets in in the front but not too bad. Overall, quite happy with the purchase!angelnadie

I receive the item and the box was in good condition. Upon opening the item there were 8 pieces. 4 walls, the top and 3 pieces that make up the floor. 3 of the 4 walls were split by screws that were inserted on the pre-fabricated panels. I took pieces and sent them to customer service. I believe this was done before being boxed up to ship. Although I was offered a discount for the damaged item I don't believe it would last as the floor did not attach but rested on the ledge of the sides. When my dog stepped into the dog house the first time 1 of the 3 pieces that make up the floor flipped up. It is nice looking but the wood is very cheap. I would not recommend buying.Unhappy Customer

I expected better of this outdoor doghouse, especially for the price. It is made of "fir wood" which isn't a hardwood at all. Pine would have been sturdier. Assembly was easy but the house itself flimsy, with several of the pre-fab section not even nailed or glued together, and some pieces with parts of the wood broken off. Even in the "giant" size it was barely large enough for a 90lb GSD. The feet were plastic and the floor slated wood were the elements can creep through. This house is advertised as ideal for outdoor use – but I wouldn't trust it during a New England winter. It was sent back immediately. I would NOT recommend this manufacturer for outdoor dog houses. For less money you could build a better one out of more durable wood.Razor

I just opened my Small size Precision Pet Extreme Log Cabin doghouse today to assemble. It looks like it will assemble pretty well, although one of the sides is 3/16" out of square. Because the panels are firmly glued and screwed together it will require some adjustment/trimming to assemble correctly instead of attempting to break the glue joints and true it up. Obviously a rush job by the factory in Wuhan. The roof shingles do appear to be very well sealed and bonded together, however there are a few spots on the edges of the composition shingles on the roof where bare wood can be seen at the edges, which would allow water to get into the roof frame, so those spots will have to be sealed. The three piece floor has 1/8" gaps between the slats, so if you want the animal occupying the box to be comfortable when it is cold and windy, you will have to do some modification to the floor, which I plan on doing. The statement that the box is waterproof and weather resistant is a stretch. The stain/preservative used on all of the wood surface is so thin that pouring any water at all on the wood surface disappears as the wood instantly absorbs it. I will not put the box in service until at least 2 coats of a high quality exterior grade paint/stain is applied. If you try and use this box without putting a proper preservative coat on it, you might get one year of use out of it before it rots or suffers UV damage and cracks and splits. This doghouse is being re-purposed by me to be a Barn Owl nest box; the dimensions are almost perfect and as soon as I saw it I realized that it could be used for quick installation during the brief annual window between December to January during which Barn Owls are NOT in their box. All I really have to do is put an insert into the door to reduce the opening size, add a perch/balcony outside the opening, fix the floor, and of course, properly seal the wood so that it will last more than one season. My primary reason for paying the extra money for the "EXTREME" model was the feature description that said: Its stainless steel hardware also adds to its sturdiness. THIS IS A LIE! THE HARDWARE SUPPLIED IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL, so this is my major gripe. My guess is that China figures that most Americans can't tell the difference between stainless and non-stainless steel. I'm a retired engineer, and you can almost always identify stainless/non-stainless steel by its color and appearance, although the surefire test is with a magnet. Regular steel will be strongly attracted by a magnet, if it is stainless steel, you might get a very slight attraction. This stuff is definitely normal steel with maybe a thin coat of zinc – not stainless steel. I just got my dog house all set up and wow! It’s great! While my 50lb border collie is a little hesitant of it, I think he will grow accustomed to it! Assembly was not too hard and only took about an hour and a half, I liked the slide and lock mechanics of connecting the walls. The divider wall, heater mount, and hydraulic lid are great features. It is a pretty large dog house but I have a large dog so it is needed, it gives him room to turn around and lay down however he likes. Thanks lifetime!Jordo

This dog house is actually big enough to fit both of our dogs. It took about an hour and 15 minutes for my husband to put it together. The item is super sturdy but light enough that he could carry it and reposition it without any help. The top locks down and easily opens up for us to be able to put their bed in. I love the fact that there is a place to put a space heater for the times they need to stay out for a bit. We’ve had a doghouse before and it just didn’t hold up well after being out in the weather. Lifetime makes such great products that hold up season after season and I know this will be great just like our deck box.Cj C

This dog house was sent to me by Lifetime products to review and I have nothing but good things to say. This dog house is extremely nice quality and over all easy to build. I absolutely love that the roof is an easy to open lid that can be used when you're cleaning it out or needing to check inside. It's big enough to fit my 35 lb dog's bed in there and still have room for other things. The middle panel is removable which I absolutely love. Though I believe I could've built this on my own, having another person helped the building process even easier. Some of the pieces are heavy and big so it helped having another person being able to hold the other end. With 2 people it took us about 2 hours to put it all together. Tools are a must for building, I recommend having a drill and a socket wrench. I highly recommend watching the YouTube videos, they're easy to follow along and are a great visual. Everything is labeled and organized and written down in the instructions that come with the product. The written instructions come in handy when you need to know what items to use in each step. I absolutely love the quality that Lifetime brings to all of their products and the dog house is no exception to this.Madi

I will say when I was looking for a duck house I spent countless hours looking for the perfect option. Florida weather and sun does wonders to things outside. I came across this house and it just stood out. When it arrived and I was dreading assembling because let’s be real directions suck! Their directions were actually awesome and the build was a breeze! However our poor ducks only got to enjoy this for a couple weeks before we had the worst Hurricane in history make landfall right through our backyard! Our ducks coop was destroyed when a tree landed on it. I was devastated their brand new house was all in the mangled mess. However upon inspections in the aftermath of the hurricane I would say this house was more solid than our own. It withstood a Cat 4 pushing Cat5 Hurricane with what appears as to be minimal damage. Heck the duck house roof held on better than our own house did! The duck house has a couple shingles that came off and the front porch ripped off but the outter shell held tight! 10/10 recommend this house for any outdoor need! I will however have to purchase a new one to give this home it’s full potential it originally had in our coop!Jessica

Arrived quickly. Easy to set up. Very light. Some small pieces might blow away with heavy wind, like the screw covers on roof and the side panel that only holds shut with two flimsy removable tabs. Not for a large dog, but my medium 35 lbs dog likes it and fit snug inside. Dog house looks nice and can be moved easily.Anonymous

This dog house was purchased for an inside/outside dog. Since we have an invisible fence, he needed some shelter during the raw days of fall and winter. This house fits the bill. It is attractive enough to stay on our screened in porch, and sturdy enough to hold a black lab with room to spare. I probably would be a little reluctant if this house was for an outside only dog due to the soft cedar wood construction. The features are great with the hinged lid, and the hot dog liner fits perfectly. If ypou have a pet who likes the outdoors by day and house by night, then this is the one for you!CTDogOwner

These dog houses are absolutely terrible!! I 5 (4 at the time of purchase) sled dogs and was hoping these would be a nice idea for houses for them.. they didn’t even last a month! One storm with wind and they were absolutely torn apart! For dog houses houses that are meant to be outside they most certainly are not made to be outside! Will never buy againMusher1230

Use it for my medium sized beagel. Only had for about a week but I was impressed with the easy of installation. Took me alone about 40 minutes to set up. Gave extra screw for misplace or damaged ones. I appreciate the porch so I can put his food and water there without getting all wet. I like the half-roof lift as well for easy clean out. So far it has handled a good down poor without any water leaks. It has real roof sealed roof shingles. It also sits about 1-1.5 inches off the ground… don't worry to much about bugs. The dimensions in the inside is a bit smaller than I anticipated, but my dog like small dens. Don't know how it will hold up for months/years to come, but Im initially impressed.Andre

I purchased the medium size house for my feral cats outside to provide shelter from the elements. I received the house in a few days but had to wait for the weather here to cooperate so it could be put together. It assembled quite quickly. The instructions were pretty straight forward & used the picture as a guide. All pieces were intact and all screws and bolts were included. My one issue is the packaging. This manufacturer needs to use a thicker Styrofoam to not only protect the product from damage, but so that when the consumer takes the product out of the box, Styrofoam doesn't fly all over. What a mess! That being said, I plan on getting another one. As soon as it was all set up, the cats immediately inspected it and made themselves at home😊 I didn't give it 5 stars because the packaging needs to be addressed, but the product is one that I would recommend.Catatude

I actually purchased this house for a feral cat that I look after. I added insulation, a heater, and some straw and he's very comfortable and content. I also added a camera, to see what goes on in there, but that's solely for my entertainment. The house is well made and sturdy and looks great on my deck. I'm so happy with it I've ordered another for another cat. And, at around $100, the price is excellent. I'm giving it only 4 stars simply because it needed to be insulated, it just isn't warm enough without it.. With insulation it's a 5 star house, and insulating it was cheap and very easy to do. Great house, I highly recommend it!Karen

So even though I had the dimensions it was still WAY smaller than I thought it would be. I'm not sure what I expected. The actual dog house is a very good size for my 14 (a little overweight) Dachshund. It was hard for him to get up the stairs, I don't know if that's his weird body, short legs and long torso or it's just oddly small. I also changed the stairs from the direction its in to the a straight direction off the top. there was no way he was getting down the way they have it set up, makes no sense! it is beautifully made and I think It's a great house. Very easy to put together. I love it, I just hope my dog gets used to those stairs. time will tell.shellmell

This was super easy to put together and follow the directions; although I am a very handy person. I love it, it looks great on my patio for my little puppy and gives him a nice spot to rest and hide out in the shade. On warmer days, it did not feel hot inside, HOWEVER, I live in a place with very moderate temperatures (72 with a breeze most days). So in a warner climate you may want to purchase one of their dog house fans available on this site!!! As I hope you can see in the photo, my little guy enjoys his space! Side note: as far as the other reviews about the stairs being flimsy… I disagree. As long as you screw in all three screws for the stairs and don't attempt to drag this across and yard or surface, the stairs are very sturdy. I have a 16 year old cat that decided to live outside on our patio earlier this year. I have no idea why. She refuses to come in and when I force her to come in she poops on my shoes (ugh). I live in Southern California so it's not real cold but nights in orange county can get pretty chilly. I have bought her 3 little houses/beds and she refuses to go inside them. This was my last attempt/purchase. It was easy to put together by myself. I did not assemble the "upper deck portion or stairs". I did not screw in the roof either, this works perfectly for me. I can lift the roof off & on for easy access. It's quite snug and fitted when in place but easily lifts off. She's too old to use the stairs and would never use the deck portion. I have it on my patio in a corner under the overhang. She LOVES it!! I put her blanket inside with her pet heating pad (Amazon 19.99) under her blanket and she is in heaven. I lift off the roof every couple days to shake out her blanket and check her heating pad and she's always curled up napping. I am thrilled and now sleep knowing she's warm, comfortable and dry.
