Went together easy enough and instructions were illustrated well, but I am mechanically inclined. It may be more daunting if I was not . Biggest issue I have with this product is that there is not a provision for closing them in the nest/roost area for the night. We move the entire assembly including chickens from area to area, but must risk catching a foot if left in the screened in area, or we must catch them and move them in a cage. Another lesser issue is there is little ventilation for the nest/roost area. I plan to drill some holes in the ends of the dormers for ventilation. We also have a piece of expanded metal we slide over the opening to the lower section that we use to close them in the nest/roost area.HenMeister

This thing came in two boxes, both of which had obviously been bounced on a corner a couple times and three major parts were cracked. I called Customer Service and they wanted me to package up both boxes and they'd send me a new one and pick up the old one. Seriously? The heck with that! The "wire" on these looks like 1/2 inch hardware cloth but the gauge of the wire is half that of hardware clothe so it breaks easily and had done so in transit. This may be large enough for two standard chickens to stay out of the rain and roost in, but only if you are letting them out every day to free range in a larger area. Rather than possibly get another damaged coop and have to box up all these parts, I will use my carpentry skills to fix the broken parts. If you do get one of these, don't rely on the wire to keep predators out unless you keep it inside a more secure area. This wire was meant to keep the chickens in, not to keep predators out.kcpaull
I am happy we purchased the coop and think it will come in handy with new chicks and sick birds. We are currently using it for 1 chick and 2 peachicks. There are some cons, but think many of those can be addressed with modifications to the coop. I would not recommend the coop if you are planning on using it for more than 2 chickens and are not letting them free-range during the day. We bought this coop not too long ago. It's was fairly easy to put together but the wood is very thin and with time the wood on the ground rotted. Same with the nesting box. It's made of very thin plywood and with the hay and mess they made the bottom part of the nesting box was to first to rot out. The entire thing was rotten within a year with the rain. Also, it is NOT predator resistant at all!!!! The door within a few months was wrapped and could not be closed. The only thing I like about it was the plastic tray in the hutch part. It made it easy clean. They should have the nesting box made with the same plastic tray and pit thicker wood on the bottom of it. I am going to try to fix the bottom with 2 x 4's and then place them on cinderblocks to keep it from rotting so fast and also reinforce the entire cage to keep them safe. Needs latches on the roof and nesting box as well as fixing the door latch. I may just build another one that is better made. Pass on this one or reforce what I have mentioned from the get go. Cute as a button. Easy to put together. However it is worthless for a truly functional chicken house. Flips easily when moving. The wire can easily pushed off of the frame any predator could be in this coop in seconds. The first time one of the chickens landed on the plastic top it completely fell thru. latches are flimsy. We now have a very expensive carport ornament. I would send it back if I wanted to take the time to take it a part. Very disappointing don’t waste your time. It very attractive, relatively easy to assemble, and well designed. It is a little flimsy. My main objection is that its so small. They say 4 chickens but I have two and thats tight. The height under the roost is so low they cant stand up. And there is no place for food and water. I added a 2×6 around the base to raise the whole coop and that helped. Arrived promptly with all the parts in tack. The only thing I can suggest, is better screws for the locking mechanisms plus the "door" nesting box. The small screws will not hold up over time. If you live where there are several predators of chickens, the locks need to be of better quality and a small stick applied at night to make sure the sliding door can not be opened. My chickens were not crazy about the top opening, so my husband reconfigured the entire thing and created a bigger chicken run/pen and gave it a side gate. Some pieces were broken upon arrival. I called customer service and they were very friendly and said they would replace the parts, but I ended up just fixing them myself because I wanted to get the coop set up so I could move my chickens outside.
