I received this product complimentary from influenster in return for my honest review. The Tomlyn Hairball Remedy gel for cats is a life saver! My eldest cat has the tendency to throw up hairballs quite often. I followed the measuring ingredients on the package and mixed it into his wet food. I have definitely noticed a decrease in hairballs since! The gel consistency is a bit odd, so i can understand if your furry friend does not like it. I do recommend mixing it with wet food or a lickable treat.hennah.h

Purchased this product first from my vet; later tried a different product found on line – similar size tube but only 2.5 ounces compared to the Tomlyn product at 4.25 ounces. My most recent purchase from Wal-Mart is the best economically based on price and size. Both products list themselves as remedies; neither is a complete remedy but they are a definite improvement over hairballs and cleaning up those messes. My cat has extremely long hair, and she loves this product. The vet told me to put some on my finger and swipe it in her mouth – bad idea. Figured out that sitting on the floor, squirting out a tiny bit and letting her curiosity take over, she tried it. And now will eat as much as I squeeze out.Susan

My older cat is a medium hair cat. He really gets a lot of hairballs, especially in the fall and the spring. My vet recommended this brand. He absolutely loves it! He wants it all the time. I asked my vet if it is okay for him to take a lot of Laxatone. He said that it is safe and since he is older, it helps him to have regular bowel movements as well. My vet said to not give him Laxatone if he gets diarrhea. My cat jumps on the chair and paws my arm when he wants some- and it's ALL the time. Hairballs are the devil! My baby boy Buttons, was suffering tremendously. We took him to our vet on numerous ocassions where he was given very strong laxatives. This works great for our 16 year old tuxedo cat. She is still able to groom herself however she gets frequent hair balls and this helps her expel it. She also has scoliosis of the spine in which she is given meds to help alleviate her pain but causes constipation. Our previous vet started us on this and it works great especially if you use it either 2 hours after eating or 10 minutes before feeding. I hope Pfizer doesn't do something crazy again and stop producing this product because it works much better than the others we have tried.cyn

I have been looking high and low for Petromalt, thick gel, almost the consistency of vasoline, with either a neutral or malt flavor, but cannot locate. I bought a "hairball solution" at my grocery store thinking it would be the same product. It is salmon flavored (why are all the products on the market salmon flavored?) and so thin it practically pours out of the tube. My cat runs away fast when I try to give it to her. She flat out won't take it. Unless I can buy the thicker gel, not salmon flavored, I won't consider buying an alternate product. What happened to the thicker gel type?Teddykitty1

Long-haired cat gets wicked hairballs. So she gets hairball treats and also her "goo" every morning. I've tried tuna flavored, but she really loves the malt and eats it right off the tube. It can be sticky and a bit gross to put globs back in when she doesn't get them off (or loses interest after I've squeezed), but I try to just do about 1/8" at a time and we're mostly good.Lilah's mom

I am so glad to have found this product. I have a 14 year old diabetic cat who has fairly long hair and grooms himself regularly. After he had a bad hairball (which at first seemed like he was very sick…wouldn't eat, drink, etc.)…I knew I had to give him something to control the hairballs. I have three cats only one of whom has problems with hairballs. Usually he loves anything that has a seafood flavor, however he took one lick of this stuff the very first day and wouldn't touch it again. I even mixed it with a small amount of cream cheese, which he loves, and he didn't like it. The stuff separates overnight and forms a thick syrup. It's too thick for a cat to drink comfortably and gets everywhere. It does eliminate the hairball, however to get my cat to eat it requires me to hold him down, pry open his mouth, and smear it on his tongue. So after reading the instructions, my one cat is aggressive, rocky, so it might be a challenge for me to get him to take the pill. Split the pill in half. Half in the morning and half at night. If i cant get them to take this pill, i may end up putting it in there soft food. They will take it them. Whats nice is this got really good reviews on stopping the hairballs. Which is great. She only like temptations catnip treats as much as she likes these. Pretty Litter indicated a UTI is able to start, I already see a difference in her behavior after 4 of these pills. It's already helping her, if you don't see another comment or review from me then it worked completely. This is a wonderful product that actually works. I've used this product for years. Every cat I've ever had loves it. I've learned to keep it in the fridge for two reasons. #1 Being chilled makes it easier to dispense. #2 Cats can't open the fridge door. I easily applied some to her paw to lick off. Within the hour, she easily released a hairball. It seemed she struggled less with removing the hairball when taking this. A little back story: my cat is 11 year old long haired tabby who gets hairballs quite often no matter what food we have given her. My little girl is a constant puker both because of hairballs and anxiety. My husband an I were at our wits end, because it made us so sad to see her go through it, and because our carpets look like a murder scene took place! I finally decided to give this stuff a try, and I'm SO glad I did! At first, she wanted nothing to do with it, neither of our cats will eat treats or much of anything other than their regular food. I got the opportunity to try the Tomlyn Laxatone Hairball Remedy Supplement for Cats, Tuna Flavor from a manufacturer promotion.. I have a senior cat (16 yrs) who has difficulty in the litter box as well as digestion problems. When I checked with the vet upon receiving it, he absolutely stated this should work well for his gastrointestinal problems. The first time I used the recommended amount in his bowl, he couldn't finish it fast enough. His on and off constipation problems have stopped. He has normal bowel movements instead of small chunks from trying to expel it. I have not seen him labor over trying to get a hairball that always appeared to be stuck in his throat. It always looked like he was choking. This is absolutely a miracle fix for his health problems. I highly recommend this if your cat struggles with hair balls and or constipation issues. With my previous dog I used the HW protect. She didn't like the taste, and would not eat her food, if it was put in her food. So I bought a big bag of XL #3 EMPTY GELATIN CAPSULES online. I would fill the capsule with HW Protect, and put the filled gel capsule in raw ground turkey burger, then hand feed it, down the hatch. My current dog can smell it, and will suck the turkey off of the gel capsule and spit the capsule out on the floor. Trying to figure out how to fool her to get her to take it. My cat has been plagued with constipation issues for several years now. She'll be 10 this year. Working to avoid western medicine via homeopathic supplements. Been using PetAlive's Natural Moves successfully for several years. She needs 1 pill daily, not the 1/2 pill per "dosage" instructions. However Natural Moves is 'on back order' everywhere, including PetAlive's website. I purchased the ingredients, and working to figure out the ratios. Now I purchased Laxa-herb. I have given this to my 9 year old cat in a spoonful of wet food 3 x day for 2.5 weeks now. Cat has been suffering from allergies and autoimmune stuff more and more so as he gets older. The past 5 month has been a constant battle with rodent ulcers, biting his paws, overgrooming, and irritability. I switched him to all the special diets and have done months and months of trials of selected protein and hydrolyzed. My pug had a dark bald spot on his neck from scratching and I was looking for something that would hopefully heal the area and let his hair grow back. I discovered the skin soother and decided to give it a try and this worked like magic! I ordered the 2 oz stick version and loved it. The application was great. It was very easy and clean to apply overall. I applied it to the area twice a day for two weeks before I was able to start seeing results. The hair started growing back and the dark skin was lightening up and becoming less dry and flaky. At the same time, my dog was scratching at it less so that was a plus. Only thing is this stick was practically gone by my second week. It would not have come close to lasting the month. That being said, I had to order another to see continued results but I ordered the larger tin instead. My only issue with this product is the tin is a lot harder to apply. The texture itself is not as soft and smooth as the stick. I also had to use my own hands to spread it on which I did not like at all. I have bought these in the past. They seemed to be okay. at least my cat would eat them when I put them in his food. He wouldn't eat them separately. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found this product at my local PetCo. My cats LOVE it and it has no chicken or other protein that my 3 cats are highly allergic to. My cats are on a limited ingredient diet of rabbit only and other hairball remedies exacerbate their allergies. But that's not all. I discovered the skin soother and decided to give it a try and this worked like magic! I ordered the 2 oz stick version and loved it. The application was great. It was very easy and clean to apply overall. I applied it to the area twice a day for two weeks before I was able to start seeing results. The hair started growing back and the dark skin was lightening up and becoming less dry and flaky. At the same time, my dog was scratching at it less so that was a plus. Only thing is this stick was practically gone by my second week. It would not have come close to lasting the month. That being said, I had to order another to see continued results but I ordered the larger tin instead. My only issue with this product is the tin is a lot harder to apply. The texture itself is not as soft and smooth as the stick. I also had to use my own hands to spread it on which I did not like at all. It also gets messy in the tin as my pug sheds so there is now hair stuck in the product. My recommendation to the company would be to have the stick in a larger option and I would gladly purchase that. However, currently I greatly regret purchasing two of the tins instead of the smaller sticks. All in all, this product works and I would buy it again! My 22 month old extremely active male yellow Lab, Gus, developed redness and a rash on his belly area while running him 5 miles every day in and around rice fields in Glenn County, located in the Sacramento Valley in Northern California. My long time outstanding veterinarian recommended using Dawn soap followed by alcohol swabbing and Benadryl. He also administered a steroid injection to relieve the itching.
