Reviews:
I received this product complimentary from influenster in return for my honest review. The Tomlyn Hairball Remedy gel for cats is a life saver! My eldest cat has the tendency to throw up hairballs quite often. I followed the measuring ingredients on the package and mixed it into his wet food. I have definitely noticed a decrease in hairballs since! The gel consistency is a bit odd, so i can understand if your furry friend does not like it. I do recommend mixing it with wet food or a lickable treat.hennah.h
I have six cats, and, out of all of them, only one really took to this gel. However, she is the one I was hoping would like it as she is a long haired kitty. She’s actually a 3-month old kitten, and she is quite fluffy. I am so glad she took to this gel, because it will help to keep her hair moving through her system and avoid future hair balls. She licks this stuff up like it’s mother’s milk, and she’d probably eat the whole tube in one go if I let her. Really glad I tried this out, and even happier my kitten loves it. It will be part of her dietary regimen from now on. Still trying to get my other cats to eat this stuff voluntarily without me having to place it in their mouths. Highly recommend this for cat owners!Angelcakes
Purchased this product first from my vet; later tried a different product found on line – similar size tube but only 2.5 ounces compared to the Tomlyn product at 4.25 ounces. My most recent purchase from Wal-Mart is the best economically based on price and size. Both products list themselves as remedies; neither is a complete remedy but they are a definite improvement over hairballs and cleaning up those messes. My cat has extremely long hair, and she loves this product. The vet told me to put some on my finger and swipe it in her mouth – bad idea. Figured out that sitting on the floor, squirting out a tiny bit and letting her curiosity take over, she tried it. And now will eat as much as I squeeze out.Susan

This is a needed medication for our mature cat and for whatever reason we are unable to find it locally. Found it online here. Pretty good price but a little pricey for the shipping, in my opinion, Ordered it and it arrived in a short period of time in good shape. Will purchase again when we need it if it is not available locally.Filrod

Reviews:
Works fantastic! It is VERY sticky, I suggest hiding it in some wet food, that worked really well for my kitty. I used it to relieve constipation in a 4wk old orphaned kitten. My vet recommended it. I also gave it to my long haired hair ball machine…worked great for him too.RhodaRunner
My older cat is a medium hair cat. He really gets a lot of hairballs, especially in the fall and the spring. My vet recommended this brand. He absolutely loves it! He wants it all the time. I asked my vet if it is okay for him to take a lot of Laxatone. He said that it is safe and since he is older, it helps him to have regular bowel movements as well. My vet said to not give him Laxatone if he gets diarrhea. My cat jumps on the chair and paws my arm when he wants some- and it's ALL the time. So I order three tubes at a time to make sure he NEVER runs out!Racquel M

Hairballs are the devil! My baby boy Buttons, was suffering tremendously. We took him to our vet on numerous ocassions where he was given very strong laxatives. Though it worked all the time, my Buttons has a very sensitve tummy Lax'Aire helps him expel the hair in his digestive tract and eliminates the throwing up that otherwise occurs. I am so happy to be able to buy it online at a reasonable price because my vet stopped carrying the product. Don't waste your money buying anything else. This is the one!Rose G
This works great for our 16 year old tuxedo cat. She is still able to groom herself however she gets frequent hair balls and this helps her expel it. She also has scoliosis of the spine in which she is given meds to help alleviate her pain but causes constipation. Our previous vet started us on this and it works great especially if you use it either 2 hours after eating or 10 minutes before feeding. I hope Pfizer doesn't do something crazy again and stop producing this product because it works much better than the others we have tried.cyn

It seems strange that this would be a good product to use, however it works. My baby has never had a problem in all the years I have been using this! Plus she likes the Taste!!!! The picky eater actually likes it!!!! She will Not eat butter, but she will eat this stuff! Buy it, it works!RedDragoniv
I have been looking high and low for Petromalt, thick gel, almost the consistency of vasoline, with either a neutral or malt flavor, but cannot locate. I bought a "hairball solution" at my grocery store thinking it would be the same product. It is salmon flavored (why are all the products on the market salmon flavored?) and so thin it practically pours out of the tube. My cat runs away fast when I try to give it to her. She flat out won't take it. Unless I can buy the thicker gel, not salmon flavored, I won't consider buying an alternate product. What happened to the thicker gel type?Teddykitty1
Long-haired cat gets wicked hairballs. So she gets hairball treats and also her "goo" every morning. I've tried tuna flavored, but she really loves the malt and eats it right off the tube. It can be sticky and a bit gross to put globs back in when she doesn't get them off (or loses interest after I've squeezed), but I try to just do about 1/8" at a time and we're mostly good.Lilah's mom

My cat was constipated. I took him to the vet and he suggested an enema. I ordered some of this instead and it worked wonders. He can't stand the taste of any of the fur ball medications so I have to trick him and smear it on his paw or side. This stuff does the job. He has been going poo like he should.kittykrazy

Reviews:
What happened to regular old malt flavored cat hairball paste? My cats would willingly eat it off my finger. Not this stuff. If I try to disguise it in wet food, they won't even go near it! I have to wipe it all over their paw, which is messy and a pain if they get away from you. I threw this away.Kristi
I am so glad to have found this product. I have a 14 year old diabetic cat who has fairly long hair and grooms himself regularly. After he had a bad hairball (which at first seemed like he was very sick…wouldn't eat, drink, etc.)…I knew I had to give him something to control the hairballs. I searched everywhere, but everything I could find had sugar in it. The vet recommended using pure petroleum jelly, but my cat hated it and acted very strange both times I gave it to him. Finally, my mom came across this product at Walmart and purchased it. My cat loves the flavor and will actually lick it off my fingers. I am so glad to have something that I can give him which won't bother his diabetes. I would recommend this to any cat owner, especially with diabetic cats.JAAM444
I have three cats only one of whom has problems with hairballs. Usually he loves anything that has a seafood flavor, however he took one lick of this stuff the very first day and wouldn't touch it again. I even mixed it with a small amount of cream cheese, which he loves, and he didn't like it. The stuff separates overnight and forms a thick syrup. It's too thick for a cat to drink comfortably and gets everywhere. It does eliminate the hairball, however to get my cat to eat it requires me to hold him down, pry open his mouth, and smear it on his tongue. I would suggest getting a chewy hairball controller instead.SilverBlade

Reviews:
My cat has very long hair and hair balls often. She actually goes through 2 periods a year where she has them almost everyday. She refuses all other hair ball medicine. I had never had a cat the refused that gel in a tube but she does and she has refused every way I have tried to give her this or other types too. I thought this would be a small chewable tablet that I could slip into her food and she wouldn’t even notice. Instead it is a very large tablet that you have to crush twice a day. So you will need a way to crush the pill to be able to give this to your cat. I don’t love that at all. I haven’t been using it long enough to notice a difference, and if it does work than my effort and crushing the pill twice a day will certainly be worth it. But I felt that this was not what it seemed to be.Edjmed
I received this item today. Hairball Relief for all sizes of cats 12 weeks and up. I have 2 fur babies. Mittens and Rocky. Almost daily they are coughing up fur balls. We have tried changing foods, getting bottled water, nothing seems to work. They still cough up hairballs. So after reading the instructions, my one cat is aggressive, rocky, so it might be a challenge for me to get him to take the pill. Split the pill in half. Half in the morning and half at night. If i cant get them to take this pill, i may end up putting it in there soft food. They will take it them. Whats nice is this got really good reviews on stopping the hairballs. Which is great. Im going to start a pill on each cat shortly. The pill its self is slippery which will help go down easily in my cats. Other than that, it will be 24hrs to see any improvements.DeaconFrost4469
If your cat hates pills or is picky, this is what you need. It may look like just a bottle of giant pills but they break easy and my cat loves them. She only like temptations catnip treats as much as she likes these. Pretty Litter indicated a UTI is able to start, I already see a difference in her behavior after 4 of these pills. It's already helping her, if you don't see another comment or review from me then it worked completely. Almost every single other review for this product everywhere else has been good, so hopes are very high.Liz E.

This is a wonderful product that actually works. I've used this product for years. Every cat I've ever had loves it. I've learned to keep it in the fridge for two reasons. #1 Being chilled makes it easier to dispense. #2 Cats can't open the fridge door. After cleaning up a few chewed up tubes and the messy carnage left by kitties, into the fridge it goes!tina little
Our cat has loved this product for years, receiving a few licks from the end every morning. The last batch we bought had new green vs yellow packaging and our cat does not like it anymore. Change in product? New packaging imparts an unpalatable taste? The ingredients are no longer listed so there is no way to compare productlucy goose
I received the Hartz® Hairball Remedy Plus™ for Cats & Kittens Paste for free from Harz to test out. Since I have a girl with thick, long hair, I was game to try this with her. I easily applied some to her paw to lick off. Within the hour, she easily released a hairball. It seemed she struggled less with removing the hairball when taking this. I continued to use this tube and within 2 hours of giving her the paste, she would expel the hairball if she had one. I plan on keeping a tube of this handy since hairballs have been an ongoing struggle for her. I'm very pleased to be introduced to this product. This opinion is 100% my own.AprilAriesPb

Laxatone is for the elimination and prevention of hairballs in cats. laxatone is a smooth easy-to-use gel for the prevention and removal of hairballs in cats and kittens. both long and short haired cats shed to some degree all year long. bathing and brushing helps lower the amount of hair swallowed during self-grooming, but some hair gets into the stomach and it cannot be digested. it can block your cat's digestive system. regular use of laxatone coats the swallowed hair and allows it to easily pass through the intestinal tract. laxatone is a safe, gentle, easy-to-use gel used worldwide for over 25 years. it has an irresistible taste. just place the recommended amount of gel on your finger or on the animal's paw. for best results feed between meals do not mix with food. laxatone contains white petrolatum and liquid petrolatum in a palatable base. it also contains linoleic acid and linolenic acid. one half teaspoon 2 or 3 times a week will keep your pet hairball-free.

A little back story: my cat is 11 year old long haired tabby who gets hairballs quite often no matter what food we have given her. We tried this hairball gel and my cat hasn't had near as many hairballs, we have only been using it for a couple of weeks but so far we are really happy with it and would recommend it for any cat that gets hairballs often. I love that my cat loves the taste of this because at first I was so worried about how she would like it but she just really loves it. I think that with the taste of the gel, it makes it easier for my cat to want to take it. I love that this gel isn't too messy instead it's super easy to use. I can see us using this hairball gel for our cat for years to come!Jhinz8
My little girl is a constant puker both because of hairballs and anxiety. My husband an I were at our wits end, because it made us so sad to see her go through it, and because our carpets look like a murder scene took place! I finally decided to give this stuff a try, and I'm SO glad I did! At first, she wanted nothing to do with it, neither of our cats will eat treats or much of anything other than their regular food. I tried getting her to lick it off of my finger thinking it's catnip, she should love it, right? Not so much. Finally, I resorted to poking her in the nose with it on my fingertip for the first two nights so she'd have no choice but to lick it off. She was NOT a happy camper it seemed. On night three, when that tube came out, so did she! She jumped up into my face and started meowing like crazy, and now takes it right off of my finger. She gets it about 8:15 every night now, and will not let us forget, starting at about 6pm. She's doing SO much better hairball/puking wise, it went from at least once a day, to maybe once or a few times on a bad week. She's also much happier and more outgoing/less anxious and much more playful now than she was before we started giving it to her. I honestly believe that this stuff has really helped her feel much better physically, and that has helped her mentally as well, which is wonderful! Our other cat seems jealous of her special "treat" and attention every night, but she won't take any of it. I think when this tube runs out, I'm going to get another of the catnip, and maybe try the tuna or another flavor as well and see if our other cat will finally try it!Cyndi H
I got the opportunity to try the Tomlyn Laxatone Hairball Remedy Supplement for Cats, Tuna Flavor from a manufacturer promotion.. I have a senior cat (16 yrs) who has difficulty in the litter box as well as digestion problems. When I checked with the vet upon receiving it, he absolutely stated this should work well for his gastrointestinal problems. The first time I used the recommended amount in his bowl, he couldn't finish it fast enough. His on and off constipation problems have stopped. He has normal bowel movements instead of small chunks from trying to expel it. I have not seen him labor over trying to get a hairball that always appeared to be stuck in his throat. It always looked like he was choking. This is absolutely a miracle fix for his health problems. I highly recommend this if your cat struggles with hair balls and or constipation issues. The only con I can mention is that it does give him gas but the relief I see in him is worth it for his health. This Laxaton Hairball Remedy works immediately and I've already purchased another tube. My kitty loves the tuna flavor and he is happier and more playful.mskitty

With my previous dog I used the HW protect. She didn't like the taste, and would not eat her food, if it was put in her food. So I bought a big bag of XL #3 EMPTY GELATIN CAPSULES online. I would fill the capsule with HW Protect, and put the filled gel capsule in raw ground turkey burger, then hand feed it, down the hatch. My current dog can smell it, and will suck the turkey off of the gel capsule and spit the capsule out on the floor. Trying to figure out how to fool her to get her to take it. I cannot get garlic or garlic tablets down her either. She hates anything with a stong smell. I love the HW Protect to prevent heartworms, just trying to figure out how to get my current dog to take it. The HW Protect is in the fridge for months but I cannot get her to take it. I give her NEEM capsules for preventing fleas, ticks as Neem has very low scent. I read that Hawthorne berry capsules, Black Seed, Hops Flowers, Apricot Kernal Extract, Sheep Sorrel and garlic help prevent heartworms too. I feed her Apricot seeds B17 and laetrile capsules for both her and me because a retired 95 year old doctor who was a very healthy active old man, said this has contributed why he and his wife never gets cancer. He said that ground up raw apricot seeds not only prevent heartworms, they also shrink cancer cells thru out the entire body in both pets and humans, and are used in Germany in the natural cancer clinics where the powerful elite wealthy rothechilds, rockefellars, carnegies, gov officials, and fda go when their families get cancer and they get Laetrile IV's that shrink cancer thru out the whole body, done daily for 4 weeks, and that is why these powerful elite all easily live into their late 90's and older. Wish this was allowed in the USA to save people and to save pets from cancer. But obviously no profit in health for the masses. So many supplements have multiple health effects. Thanks for the HW Protect, I just have to figure out how to get my dog to take it.customer
My cat has been plagued with constipation issues for several years now. She'll be 10 this year. Working to avoid western medicine via homeopathic supplements. Been using PetAlive's Natural Moves successfully for several years. She needs 1 pill daily, not the 1/2 pill per "dosage" instructions. However Natural Moves is 'on back order' everywhere, including PetAlive's website. I purchased the ingredients, and working to figure out the ratios. Now I purchased Laxa-herb. My cat hates the taste in food, water, esp. by mouth. Since she's good with pills, I now put the drops in a veg cap for her. That works. Still to be determined if it helps her, but the pilling makes it easy.Britt
I have given this to my 9 year old cat in a spoonful of wet food 3 x day for 2.5 weeks now. Cat has been suffering from allergies and autoimmune stuff more and more so as he gets older. The past 5 month has been a constant battle with rodent ulcers, biting his paws, overgrooming, and irritability. I switched him to all the special diets and have done months and months of trials of selected protein and hydrolyzed. I have done multiple antibiotic shots, flea medication, kept him inside, routine liquid steroids, and even antidepressants. My vets worse case scenario was that we have to keep him on steroids if nothing else could stop the bald spots and scratching himself till bleeding. It seems there are multiple unknown triggers, and we've tried so many times to cut back the Prednisolone and he could never go more then 2.5 -3 days without serious repercussions. I was starting to have to face that twice a week steroids could be a permanent thing. It has been a nightmare…until I found these drops. After a week of these liquid drops he went 5 days without steroids before he started licking again…After 2 weeks I have stopped steroids completely. I am freaking out with happiness. He licks his paws just a tad but as long as I keep up with the 3 x/ day he seems really good. I'm still keeping him on hydrolyzed wet and dry food for now. Everything has returned to normal, and his coat looks great. When he's happy I'm happy. I'm a more natural medicine kind of person anyway so it makes sense that I would take a holistic approach with my cat chid. The only thing im not sure about is that it has agave nectar in it. Anyway, I'm switching to a holistic vet this Fall, and can't wait to tell her about these drops.CJ

We used this product on our grand dog. He was a scaly, crusty mess and had lost most of his hair. We took him to the vet and put him a regimen of medicated shampoo, oral antibiotics and an immunomodulator. We used the Skin Soother immediately after his daily bath. We also have him the salmon treats daily. I believe this product helped him regain his health. His color came back and all the scales and itching were gone. So I bought another. Even though the regimen is over, we are still bathing him regularly and applying the Skin Soother. That was over a month ago and he continues to look better than ever! These are before and after pics of Ziggy!Amie B.
My pug had a dark bald spot on his neck from scratching and I was looking for something that would hopefully heal the area and let his hair grow back. I discovered the skin soother and decided to give it a try and this worked like magic! I ordered the 2 oz stick version and loved it. The application was great. It was very easy and clean to apply overall. I applied it to the area twice a day for two weeks before I was able to start seeing results. The hair started growing back and the dark skin was lightening up and becoming less dry and flaky. At the same time, my dog was scratching at it less so that was a plus. Only thing is this stick was practically gone by my second week. It would not have come close to lasting the month. That being said, I had to order another to see continued results but I ordered the larger tin instead. My only issue with this product is the tin is a lot harder to apply. The texture itself is not as soft and smooth as the stick. I also had to use my own hands to spread it on which I did not like at all. It also gets messy in the tin as my pug sheds so there is now hair stuck in the product. My recommendation to the company would be to have the stick in a larger option and I would gladly purchase that. However, currently I greatly regret purchasing two of the tins instead of the smaller sticks. All in all, this product works and I would buy it again! He is full healed and I am very happy with the results.Jessica B.
My 22 month old extremely active male yellow Lab, Gus, developed redness and a rash on his belly area while running him 5 miles every day in and around rice fields in Glenn County, located in the Sacramento Valley in Northern California. My long time outstanding veterinarian recommended using Dawn soap followed by alcohol swabbing and Benadryl. He also administered a steroid injection to relieve the itching. My daughter, Kati, recommended that I try Skin Soother, as she used the product on her small Terrier mix who suffers from allergies. She ordered the 2 oz. roll on for me as a surprise. Your product is amazing! Gus' redness and itching decreased significantly and he found significant relief. My veterinarian agreed that the product was great. I ordered two of the 4 oz. cans for him and apply it daily. Skin Soother is awesome! Gus and I highly recommend it!Gary H.

Great quality and helpful ingredients in this little treat to help hair balls. This was the first day to try them, but just having them eat it on their own is a win 🏅. Will order again since they like them. Good price. I gave them two treats today. They are cute fish shaped supplements.iHerb Customer
I have bought these in the past. They seemed to be okay. at least my cat would eat them when I put them in his food. He wouldn't eat them separately. But I'm not sure how effective they are at reducing hair balls. They smell like rancid oil. I paid $8.00 from Walmart and even less on Amazon per bottle of 160. Now they want $16.50 a bottle. Yeah, I'm not going to pay that. My cat will just have to take his chances….AverageJoe
these are good. very fussy cat actually ate them as they are, i didnt have to mix in his food. they are quite soft, so could easily be crumbled into food if needed. did help with hairballs. actually after a week, i noticed increased appetite, so i guessed his stomach was all clear and he had renewed interest in food! my cat is 12 years old if that helps.iHerb Customer

My ancient kitty was beginning to have hairballs every day or nearly every day. She has two younger brothers that she loves to groom as well as herself – and she's a lint eater! Bleh! I tried these on a whim, they are amazing! One a day for each of my three cats seems to do the trick! Very few hairballs for the past three months. We're considering carrying this at my vet clinic where I work, it's that good!NoMoreHairballs
I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found this product at my local PetCo. My cats LOVE it and it has no chicken or other protein that my 3 cats are highly allergic to. My cats are on a limited ingredient diet of rabbit only and other hairball remedies exacerbate their allergies. But that's not all. This product is safe and doesn't contain petrolatum and therefore doesn't have a laxative effect. 2 of my cats love these and gobble them up like a treat, but 1 of my cats won't and so it easily crumples and I can mix it in his wet food and he eats it with no problems. Within 2 days, my elderly cats hairball symptoms and vomiting DISAPPEARED! Please continue to carry this product PetCo. It is awesome. Note to cat owners, I work in the veterinary field. Don't give to your cats daily. Give only until symptoms go away and then only bi-weekly or when symptoms return. Best to brush kitty, provide a good diet (to eliminate excess shedding), daily fresh water from a daily cleaned water bowl, and thereby prevent hairballs as much as possible.AlleycatWoman
I’ve never used these before for my cat. I wasn’t sure about them because she’s so picky but I went ahead and got them because I didn’t have a lot of options in the town I was in. I have to say that I was impressed. After 2 chews she started to sound better. I will definitely use them again. added a panoramic picture so you can read about it more.lynn.b
