My cat has had stomatitis for years and traditional vet medicine has not done much for him. I agree with the other reviewer, who said they are too thick! I have to give away 1/2 the bag, because they’re too thick for my Havanese! The package says he needs a small, for his size, but he just can’t chew the big thick ones. I’ve resorted to buying the Petite, a time or two. Those are a completely different item. My dogs loves these, and they keep their teeth very clean. I know people get nervous with rawhide, but the trade off is worth it. These chew chips are coated with enzymes that clean the dogs teeth extremely well – and apparently it makes my dogs obsessed with them too. Because they love the taste, they actually CHEW them and don't immediately swallow them (the normal issue with rawhide chews). I've recommended these to all my dog owner friends and haven't received a single bad review yet. The trick is they need one of these day. There are 30 in a bag. So about a bag a month (depending on how quickly they finish the chew, my greyhound does one of these in a day no problem). Unfortunately this gave my dog really bad diarrhea and discomfort. I wasn't sure if this was what caused the diarrhea initially so I took her off this for a couple days and added it back into her water after she recovered, she proceeded to have diarrhea again the next day. I'm hoping this product will do all it says it will. It's too early to tell, but I can say there is literally no scent to the solution and our boy, Mace, drinks his water as if nothing was added. But, they don’t seem super effective besides acting as a barrier between your hand and the dog’s mouth to allow wiping away very superficial tartar or food from their teeth.

I started adding this to all the water bowls in my home just a little over one bottle ago, about two months. It only takes one teaspoon per pint so it lasts a long time. The dose is the same for all pets, so it doesn't matter if the cats drink the dog's water, which is great. None of them seem to notice it or mind it if they do. The price on this site is WAY cheaper than this was at my vet! I am hoping it will help maintain the dental work I'm having done on several of my pets, but it's a bit too soon to tell. One important note is that I was not going to buy this at first as I noticed that it contains xylitol. My family brushes with xylitol toothpaste and hasn't had a cavity in years, but I had learned it can be toxic for pets. I looked into it and the amount they would have to take in would have to be a great deal more than this tiny amount diluted in water, so if that's what's holding you back, check it out for yourself with your pet's dental caregiver. The only thing I don't like is the design of the cap! It drips and wastes product. I ordered this product because one of my cats has dental issues. I did not pay attention to soy as the first ingredient, because is is listed as NON-GMO (I supposed it was safe, but it wasn't.)
