This collar helped me to keep 2 german shepards safe from running off. I recommend this collar my dogs were always running off now they cant even leave the yard. I tried every thing I could think of to see if they will leave yard to get a ball. They stayed back and would not cross the line.
I have had several of these collars over the years and they have worked beautifully! They keep my dogs happily contained. My beagle mix is very docile and he only needs the beep to remind him to stay home, as for my shepard mix well….she's a little stubborn and does need the correction. I have had an issue recently with the prongs breaking off but they have replaced them for me each time. They even helped me pick a tougher collar for my stubborn dog. Hopefully that solution works and we'll be back on track. PetSafe is amazing and I will continue to use their products and recommend them to everyone I can. I purchased this one as I wanted a wireless version vs the perimeter one I had to bury. We use this when we go fishing as well as around the house. We have only had to use the continuous shock once at level 2. The tone works so well we dont really need the other features but we have them just in case, our dog decides to be really stubborn in the future. My favorite is how easy it is to use, charge and the fact the tone is the best way to get my dog's attention. It has not taken long for him to know the remote goes to his collar and that just showing him he knows to heel or the tone sound will come on and get his attention quickly. My sister is purchasing one as well since my purchase, as she has seen how much it has helped our strong willed dog. He just needed a little extra guidance for his safety as we live off a highway and next to woods with coyotes. Literally bought this as my second attempt first was a petsafe wireless fence and it wasn’t as user friendly as this petsport with a remote. I’m able to keep basic corrections in house and outside in the yard! I was worried it wouldn’t be small enough for my mini Heeler but the collar comes with an abundant amount of holes for proper fit on anything ! Supper pleased with the collar and the three bases it has for training. The beep tone the one hit simulation and the longer hit stimulation gives me theee options to ask my dog according to what she’s doing. I like that it can be supper mild and allow her the chance to be asked nicely and then reinforced mildly and then reinforcement with a sterner setting. A true life saver. This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. The 1/2 mile range is more than enough to reach out and touch her for a friendly reminder to come in for supper. At first reading the instructions you might get overwhelmed but it's not as bad as it seems at first with the install. The only thing I wish is there was a way to make it have a wireless signal to the main box so you don't need to run wires into the house. Part of my install is on the fence and some in ground both were fairly straight forward. We have been working with our dog per the instructions. While I feel we could probably teach our dog where to stay out of with just the training guide in the book but the added collar helps reinforce the boundaries. So far she is responding well although she is a border collie and they tend to learn fast but I don't think it would be hard to work with any dog with the right patience and practice. Don't buy this if you expect it to work out of the box you still need to train your dog the system is more of a reminder than it is a set it and forget it.Jono21
The PetSafe In Ground fence worked great in our yard! We aren't allowed to have traditional fences in our subdivision but wanted to be able to keep our goldendoodle safe and in our yard. This system was a bit of a project to install in comparison to hiring a company or something, but the directions well clear and concise and it wasn't difficult to install. We borrowed My dog was very receptive to the training with the boundary flags and picked up on the boundaries very quickly and easily!! The in-ground fence was extremely easy to install and had step-by-step directions on how to do so. I had thought it would be difficult to install, as I am not an overly technical person, but was surprised to learn that even the least technical-savvy person could install. I love that my dog no longer needs to wear a leash outside and he's able to roam freely. I feel this provides him with a sense of independence, although he still prefers to be by my side. On my end though, it provides me a sense of relief that even if I look away momentarily, he won't be able to roam outside of the flags. As far as your dog goes, I would recommend walking him or her around the area to ensure they are aware of where is permitted and not permitted to go. If anyone has ever owned a husky or even know about the breed they are escape artist. My yard I thought was husky proof…apparently not. We used chicken wire around the fence so she couldn’t climb the fence, we put chicken wire in the ground so if she dug she’d hit that and we had done other things to the yard. Anyway long story short one day her and my sister dog got out of the yard and this was one of our last resorts. At first I was really frustrated with the product and upset that my husky would run out of the barrier and not care about the shock. I spent time training her where she was allowed to go and where she wasn’t. My sisters dog was easy to train, she got shocked once and knew not to go past It. FINALLY after months my husky stays where she’s supposed to and doesn’t go outside of It. They dogs still have 80% of the yard to run and play in. I have a pretty big back yard. I've loved the fence since we got in it April but over the last couple weeks the collar and transmitter haven't seem to be communicating right. There's been no change to location and collar is always charged. Dog has been seen outside of normal boundary (which he doesn't breach). Upon bringing him back and checking the boundary again with him the collar on doesn't beep or give any indication the boundary has been breached. I've tried removing and walking the boundary holding it at dog level and it worked, put it back on dog bring him to the boundary and he walks right through with nothing. Try it again then all of a sudden it works. I don't have any idea what the heck is going on but it's confusing to my dog and it teaching him that sometimes he can breach the boundary with no consequences.Bburgess

We recently got a new Bernese Mountain dog puppy and we have a 7 year old Dachshund mix who we rescued 4 years ago. I received the kit very quickly through the mail. The instructions were pretty simple and I was able to run the cable around the perimeter of my property very quickly for testing it out. Our puppy got corrected about three times before he truly figured it out and learned to stay away from the perimeter. Our Dachshund, who is known for bolting as soon as the door opens, didn't take to it as quickly. "Can't teach an old dog new tricks?" That was not the case. After she ran through the fence a few times, she was scared to go outside at all. Being a rescue from an abused family, this is understandable. After working with her for a week, showing her the boundaries with the shock correction turned off just utilizing the audible correction and the vibration alert, She started to get comfortable outside again and also stayed away from the perimeter. The beep and vibration was enough to get her attention and she returns into the property. At this time, I spent half a day with a spade shovel and buried the fence a couple inches into the ground. I found that the signal was a bit less, so I took advantage of the signal strength dial and turned it up and tested it again. It took a bit of trial and error, but I got it dialed in pretty good. This has been an absolutely fantastic device for the dogs. They can go outside and run around like a dog should be able to do! Now I just have to figure out how to stop my Dachshund from digging up critters around my AC unit, LOL. I think I am going to build a decorative fence around my unit for this. I purchased this system about three years ago. It worked great for my GSD for about two months.. then he learned he could run through it.. and did so on a regular basis. If you have smaller dogs.. would highly recommend this fence system.. for bigger dogs… Not so much. At first the dogs were very scared to go outside but after a little training and some play time in the yard they have learned their boundary. I have had this since January of 2018, best purchase IMO, is it perfect? No, does it work really really well? Yes it does. Is it sometimes slow to lock onto your phone? Yes, easy fix as I turn the collar and receiver on prior to getting ready or when we get into the car, that way everything is good to go when its time to go. The longest it has taken to acquire and lock on to my phone had been around 5 minutes. I use this several (3-4) times and week and haven't had any issues with the collar prongs bothering my dogs neck or causing issues. IMO it is an excellent value for the cost and its peace of mind knowing I know where my dog is at all times.Alexis
So far I have not used this to train my pup. My pup is to young (only 4 months). I have down load the App to my I Phone & have set it up for use. So far everything has been straight forward & easy to set up. The website for the product contains a lot of information on how to use this product for training & for Trouble Shooting if needed. This collar has tracked my husky as she ran off leash while out on hikes. It shows on our phones where she is, when she stops running, when she barks and what path she takes. It is neat to be able to watch the paths she takes when chasing the deer in the woods. It has tracked her over half a mile away. My only comment – which has more to do with my dog than the collar – is that the shocks don’t seem to phase her. I think her fur may be too thick.Dallas

Put in the training as recommended and you can't go wrong! It has worked really well for my rescue Bull Arab x who had severe separation anxiety. Loose on my small and medium leash. No big deal. I took the bag to test fit a new leash at the pet store. Also take note of where the leash feed hold is vs the bag's elastic band on the top. Decent tracker. Device gets 5 stars, App gets 3. I use the Dogtra Pathfinder to keep track of my dog on the trail while hiking and backpacking. Although the tracking is accurate the app leaves much to be desired. Custom maps don't work, offline maps are limited to Google terrain, there's no option to stop and resume recording a track. It would be nice to see other data in app such as elevation and moving speed. There is no way I can find to contact the app developer for support.
I was a bit skeptical at first but after I bought it and started using it, I have fell in love with it. With this tracking and training system, I have been always able to see my dogs and know where they are, I cant say the same for the other cheaper collars I have used before and my buddy told me his garmin doesnt work at all and had to ask for a refund from Amazon. When the collar works it is great and i like it a lot. I bought one of these collars from Sportsmans wearhouse around 6 months ago and it was awesome until like 3 months in it stopped working so i took back into sportsmans wearhouse and traded it in for another one hoping it was just a one time thing with that specific collar. I have been using these collars for a few weeks now on my 75 lbs pitbull and my 20 lb chihuahua/sheltie mix and they have been awesome. I have only used the beep and vibration and have made a world of difference in my house. my pitbull would jump and paw at us for attention which was hurting us due to his size. the beep stops the behaviors immediately and rarely have had to vibrate him. my pit also was being extremely possesive of food and starting fights at meal times. the beep makes him.stop instantly and he sits down. my chihuahua mix has a problem with getting on the table and stealing food and also barking non stop. he isnt as affected by the beep as my pitbull so I tend to have to use vibrate more often with him but he is slowly getting on the table less and less. I dont know why I waited so long to try these but I guess it's because I was one of those people who said they would never use a shock collar. I'm so glad I tried these collars before making any drastic decisions due to behavioral issues. the only downside/complaint I have is the charger comes with 2 ports so you can only charge one collar and the remote at the same time. if they are being sold in a 2 pack there should be suffice chargers to charge all 3 at the same time which is why I only gave 4 stars. the collars also tend to need to be resynced but it's an easy process to do.overall I'm very happy with the collarMandy
This collar works great! We have a 135 pound Saint Bernard that likes to run into our pasture with the cows. It definitely has enough kick to get her attention and the collar has plenty of room. Uncoil and check wire before installing. Quality control problem – after digging and installing most of the wire, the last 20 or 30 feet at the end of the coil had breaks in the protective coating every few inches. As we needed the broken wire to finish the loop, every break had to be repaired with electrical tape adding a couple extra hours to finish the install – frustrating. was required.Dive

It went through the test phase totally fine, and so I proceeded to bury 500 feet of wire, only for it not to work. Ok, maybe my dogs do if they sneak out of range setting 6 on the collar will make your dog come off the ground like a bass breaking water setting 4 is definitely enough. I have never had a problem. I have been using PetSafe for at least 15 years. I wired a half acre lot and I just open the door and out my 2 dogs go and I know they are safe. We live in the middle of Dallas. I really like how it has worked over the years except….. Using the 16 ga. wire supplied, I used to get failure in the system. The receiver box would be beeping and not working. I would have to rewire sections of the wire for it to again work properly. This happened 5 or 6 times until I rewired the whole yard perimeter with 14 ga. wire. The system has never gone down since I did this 6 or 7 years ago. I give this a 5 star rating using 14 ga. wire.Lake
This collar works well with our older Instant Fence unit. We purchased it for our small (9lb) 9 month old pup. It fits her well, and is not to big for her. There is plenty of adjustment in the collar for different sized dogs. The battery life is excellent and she has responded well to wearing it in our yard. I only wish that it had an additional mode for a vibration alert as well as sound. It would also be nice to have a louder sound for us people. When training a small dog I had to bend over to try and hear the alert as we approached the boundary. But in the end, as long as the dog hears the sound, that's all that matters. Great way to keep your pet safe in your yard. When I called pet safe for information, the customer service rep. was very helpful in choosing the right collar for our needs. That helped a lot.3 pines
