Pet Armor Flea and Tick collars are convenient, semi easy to use, ready to go in minutes and there is no mess. They have a nice natural odor that is pleasant. I really like the metal tin that they come in. However I was a bit confused as it stated that there is one collar but clearly there are two. I chose a 4 star rating simply because it was not immediately clear on how to fasten the collar. I had to play around with it a bit to figure it out, but I would say that would be the only negative I spotted. The collar is light weight, extremely flexible, so it makes it comfortable for my pup to wear. The excess was snipped off and I had a well fitting collar. We are VERY pleased so far with the natural flea collars we purchased for our dog and cat. Abby, our min Schnauzer, has multiple environmental allergies in the Spring and Fall, and very allergic to fleas. I put these collars on both my dogs, one Papillon and one Beagle mix. The Papillon never seems to mind, but the Beagle mix (Olive) just has a fit. I am wondering if the intense peppermint scent has ever been an issue for dogs with those sensitive noses. Olive cowers and her behavior changes when she is wearing this collar like it is overwhelming her? Prolly just my weird dog…lol. I even took it out of the package for a day and let it "air" before putting it on her. We had the same problem last year and eventually I had to remove the collar.Janelle

I have four cats. They hate the topical chemical treatments and I feel guilty putting it on them. Last summer we used these flea collars and I never saw a single flea! They had never worn a collar before so they acted a little weird at first but got used to them. This year I'm going to use the natural topical treatment on two of my cats because they've turned into escape artists and are now jumping my fenced back yard. It seems to work well against ticks but the handling is rather difficult. Really hard to close it and then it cannot be taken off anymore (e.g. for a bath or simply comfort) without breaking it. I very much preferred the other tick collars WnP had, pity they do not sell them anymore.Jochen K.

First, the great: I love the way this collar smells. My husband is extremely sensitive to smells so most of the tick collars have been too strong for him. This cedarwood/ peppermint combo is lovely and not strong-smelling. The good: getting the collar put together was a little tough. The first stop is difficult to get past, but then it’s fine. This collar does smell great. We also haven't had any flea or ticks so it's also working. We are not happy with it though for two reasons: 1. It's hard to get tight and one of our cats keeps getting it caught in his jaw when he cleans himself, so we finally had to remove the collar. 2. I am concerned one of our cats could get choked by this collar if caught in something. It's very strong and doesn't have any "break-away," feature so this possibility worries me.Susan K.

The yr before got a very expensive one which didnt seem to help much at all and then heard bad issue on them so decided to give this one a try ….oh, so glad I did…as it helped so much and worked the 6 month and even longer. I bought the Pet Armor Plus flea & tick collars for my 2 dogs 2 weeks ago. The collars had absolutely NO effect on helping eliminate their fleas. They continue to need bi-weekly medicated baths and I've also treated the house, furniture/bedding with Pet Lock spray, as well. …but it takes an army to adjust it. Once it goes in the first 2 inches, it get stuck. It takes forever to pull through and I'm still trying to adjust one after 2 days. It might be easier on dogs, but if you put this on a cat, try to adjust it as much as you can before you slide it of their head because no cat will stand still that long…..and I mean long!!Rita G

I received the collar and opened it to put on my cat. I immediately noticed the pleasant smell of the collar and how soft and flexible the collar was. It went on with ease and was simple to put on. The purple color was a nice contrast as well. The cat is leaving it alone and when I pick her up that light scent was very nice and not over powering. I highly recommend the color for comfort, style and I really like that the effectiveness is for 7 months. Before using the collar I had a situation were my other pet who is a dog woke up one morning and couldn't walk and was in pain. As it turned out he had contracted lymes disease from a tick. He is doing better but was on medication for a month and a very expensive hospital visit for him. My decision was to get collars that I can trust and be confident in. I bought the Ultra Guard Flea and Tick collar for my two cats. On Wednesday both cats were brought to a professional pet groomer. They came home and were all clean. I put their flea and tick collar on Wednesday evening. My younger cat had no problems. By Saturday our older cat had an allergic response to the collar. All of her skin under the collar was swollen and scabbed. She hadn’t been scratching it. She didn’t have the redness, swelling or scabs any where else on her body.
We treated it like an allergic response and are waiting to see what happens. We trimmed her neck hair, carefully cleaned it, applied an antibiotic ointment with hydrocortisone ointment.Roxann Boysen

I couldn't exactly tag my identical product as it's literally very recently been released.. Overall tho I totally loved this flea collar by Hartz that's absolutely comparable to Soresto! Comes in one size fits all secure dual buckle system that keeps it safely secure for up to 6months of protection! I live in Ohio where fleas ticks are usually only active 4-5 months of the year so that's perfect for my fur babies. It additional offers protection from mosquitoes and prevention of flea eggs from hatching. It offers full body protection as well seems to live up to it's advertising so I'd say 5/5 product from Hartz! The Salvo Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs come is different sizes. The size I received is Small/Medium. It fits necks up to size 20". This is for a dog 11 to 25 pounds. Just cut off whatever you have that is left over. It does not cause a problem. It has a really smooth feel to it. So it is not rough against your dog's neck. It is a thin collar so it is out of the way. It has a triple clasp so the collar will not fall off. That would be a bummer. I would be so upset to buy this and then it falls off. Well, they thought of that for us. Thank goodness. It is an off white color. There are two of them. Use one of them and then six months later put the other one on for the next six months. Can't beat the price for twelve months protection. I didn't know I was getting two collars. I was shocked when I opened it up and found two. But it makes sense. The chemicals can only last so long. By the way, I read up on the active ingredient Deltamethrin and found it to be safe. My dog is my family and I treat him as such. I would not use this product if I didn't feel it weren't safe. My dog's name is Oliver and he is my life. It is up to me to keep him safe and happy as I feel it is up to you. Some dogs are sensitive. If your dog is sensitive then wash him or her with mild soap and lots of water. Wear gloves when you put this on your dog. The collar is waterproof. The collar uses Time Release Technology and works with your dogs natural oils. My Oliver is a Bichon Frise. I have to groom him every two months because his hair grows so fast. I don't know if this is going to keep the collar from doing it's job because of him having to be bathed often. It said it works with the dogs natural oils. I live in an Apartment with a man-made lake around it. This is the reason for the flea problem So far the collar works. I do not have a tick problem in my area. I like that this flea and tick collar is affordable and long lasting. Im always surprised at how much these collars cost but I consider them to be a necessity in protecting my min pin. I had first heard of this brand from my neighbor who swears by it. Her energetic dog loves to roll in the grass and root in the brush and is frequently exposed to fleas and ticks. I decided to try it on my little dog and am happy with the results. The first thing I'd like to point out is this product is half of the cost of the leading flea collar. The tin contains 2 collars with each being effective for 6 months so one tin will get your pet a year of protection. The collars are time released so they should be just as effective at the end of their use then in the beginning. Since I recently got these I couldn't say whether that's true of not. One thing to remember with all flea collars is these contain pesticides so it's important to keep an eye on your pet to check for any potential reactions. I noticed when reading other reviews for their opinions that some people were having trouble getting the collar to stay on. On the packaging it states the collar has a proprietary 3 clasp system which I think people don't understand how it works. I took a picture of the underside of the collar to show it has a system of grooves and slots which when pulled through the clasp area with lock the collar in place. It is extremely strong as I tested it pulling very hard and it did not budge. It also has a peel away strip for your dog's comfort. The directions do not say what to do with this so I'm assuming some people aren't pulling it off which they're supposed to. This could be the reason for the collar not staying. on their dogJAD12

This flea collar smells nice to humans but is in no way effective against fleas! I don't know what kind of whimpy fleas it was proven effective to repel but every flea my dog has come in contact with jumped on for a ride once we tried this Vet's+Best. I wanted a natural flea repellant but this is not working and my dog has suffered mightily. He is bathed regularly and is housed indoors where we do not have a flea infestation. It is most definitely not worth the $16.99 I paid for it at Tractor Supply. I also purchased one for my cat and that is not effective. 2nd purchase. I noted one or more reviews indicating how difficult it is to thread the collar. I'm no weakling, but I could not thread the leader thru the 2nd loop – it just wouldn't fit no matter how hard I pushed on it. Pulling with pliers only breaks it. I final cut the 2nd loop off and managed to push it through the first. I know the collar is what I want for plant-based, but the collar material can be a challenge.Rick

Really wanted this to work because I will not put pesticide collars or pesticide spot-on treatment on my dog. Very pleasant smell but it seems the ticks also like it. I literally remove ticks daily from my dog and the ticks are mostly attached to her neck area… exactly where the collar is. These collars are ineffective! I have found multiple attached ticks on my dogs, right next to the collar. I have used Adams Flea and tick products for foster dogs/cats before, and they seemed to work well. So although I prefer not to use poisons, thought I would try on my own dogs after a mild winter and ticks are appearing in this area (Central NH) more and more. Very disappointed. Wish I could return them, but did not save the packaging.D

The Adams Flea Tick Collar for Dogs are my go-to tick collars for my four-legged babies!! They really work great and very inexpensive. I’ve always really like that they come in packs of 2 because I have 2 big doggies. However, we just recently welcomed a a new baby into our family. Chief’s a full-blooded Chocolate Lab. My 4 month old chiuahaua puppy hasn't been right since buying this collar! Started out fine and then by that night I was woke up to my furbaby scratching uncontrollably at his neck and twitching like he was being stung randomly then came the hallucinations bc he we are night 2 and collar free of course and he's been up all night crying and restless with doe eyes and terror. We have a very small Chihuahua and a large-sized German Shorthair. We decided to give the Hartz InControl Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs and Puppies the ultimate trial by testing it on our Chihuahua, Pique. Pique is as picky as they come when it comes to food, treats, water bowls, dog kennels, flea and tick medications, people's laps, blankets, etc. It's nearly impossible to get him to take a pill, so we tried out this collar in order to skip the trauma of attempting to get him to take his monthly flea and tick prescription pill. The collar was easy to cut to size and sneak on Pique while he innocently (and trustingly) slept on my son's lap. It is very soft and flexible, which helped so much. There is a dual buckle we could easily secure that gave us a little confidence that he'd not immediately bite out of it or pull it off upon waking. To our great surprise and delight, Pique awoke about 30 minutes after we put the collar on and was none the wiser. It was awesome and funny, but we were still apprehensive that he'd figure out the evil deed we did to him while he slept so trustingly. Fearing he'd bite each one of us (individually and continually in revenge), Pique shocked us and never seemed to mind his new collar! The light weight and flexibility must have been tolerable to him, as our normally revenge-seeking Pique never came after any of us, even when he discovered the collar was on his neck a few days later. He tried very hard to wiggle and bite out of it, but the collar held up and he quickly gave up his efforts. Whether the Hartz InControl Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs and Puppies is effective is yet to be determined, as we've only had this collar on him for a week. It should last about six months, according to everything I've read. I cannot explain to you, however, what a relief it is to know he is protected by this collar with such little trauma expended at his end (and at ours) after sneaking it on him. My family has used Hartz products for years, even when I was a little kid! So I trust that this collar will be effective for its entire six-month period. The Hartz InControl Flea & Tick Collar has worked very well for our family. I actually saw a flea on one of our dogs a few days before we received the Hartz collar. Since using the collar, we haven’t seen any more. It’s comfortable and adjustable for any sized dog. It’s also very easy to use. Just open the package, pull it apart, insert the collar into the two loops, put over your dog’s head, tighten, and cut off the excess collar. I love that I can easily get it on and off but my dog can’t. It’s very soft and flexible. After initially putting it on her, she seemed to not even realize it was there. I love that it kills fleas and ticks, prevents flea eggs from hatching, and repels mosquitoes for up to 6 months. So far, it really seems to be working. My dog and I highly recommend it! We have used these collars for years for our three dogs and swore by them. Not sure if wilko have changed supplier or the ingredients have changed but these no longer work for us and dogs got fleas even though we changed the collars several times. I'm not trustful about the products that most vetinarians prescribe or suggest….just pragmatice in my belief as as in most products of this kind that there are very undesireable side effects including negative outcome to the overall health of my dogs. I live in northern New Jersey near a wooded area that has been inundated with ticks this year. Since I have placed the collars on my two pugs, I am still finding ticks on them, but they dont' seem to be attaching to their skin. It's too early too tell if the collars will remain effective for 4 months and it may be too much of an infestation this year for the collars to be 100% effective. Hey guys, This item is a lifesaver. I tried a few other brands for my little guy and I kept finding these little ticks burrowing into my furry fella. This one finally stopped them from getting in. Don't get me wrong, this will not keep the Ticks from hanging onto your furry friend's fur especially if he or she has long fur or hair. But it will keep them from burrowing in, which was the most important thing for me. I just check him after our walks thru the woods or parks before bringing him back in. I used to get ticks burrowing in at least once or twice a week before this item. Now, every year before it gets warm, I pick up one of these and its good till the end of the season. definitely worth the money and I've now been using it for 3 continuous years without having a single one dig in.I don't really like to feed my buddy any kind of chemicals and he likes to lick random parts of his fur so I don't want to use anything like an ointment. Has almost no scent to it. Put it on my bird dog the day before the hunt. He pushed through some thick grasses and brush for half the day. Found 3 ticks on him after, all 3 were dead; nothing attached. A week later, took him out again. Didn’t even find one on him. Highly recommend!DJSwatts

We've been using these collars for several years and rotate two through the year when we replace the Seresto collar, giving the other a good bath at the same time. One note is that I actually cut the tabs off the Seresto collar to put it through the Orvis collar holders. Not sure if that's what's giving some of the negative reviewers trouble?DogMom10675

So I bought two of these collars one in a large, and one in a small; and had them both personalized hoping to go tagless. Attaching the serresto collar was the easy part. If I had known what an absolute pain it was going to be to adjust them, plus adjust them with the serresto attached I would have stuck with two collars and been done with it. My large dog is actually on the smaller size of large and customer service advised I size up, which I'm glad I did, however that also means that the flea collar is not evenly attached thru the whole length of the collar. When she scratches at her neck the serresto peeks out, and is not actually held in place that well. Unfortunately for both dogs the customization is difficult to read due to the adjustment. On my small dog you can read her name, but not my number. And on my large dog you can read my number, but not her name. I went ahead and added their tags anyway. All that being said I have been happy with the quality of the collar. It has held its color well, and the thread on the customization has not picked, even with the heavy wear and tear my coonhound gives it when we are out and about. I have also been impressed that the serresto collar has not come away or broken out of the keepers on the collar like other reviews have suggested. Overall, I would recommend this product, just be prepared to spend some time adjusting for the right fit, but once it's on, it won't let you down.MandyK

Bought this collar as we live in Maine in the Summer – Tick Country. Our dog wears a Seresto Collar and when I saw this collar which is Two-in-One. And comes Monogrammed with Name and #, couldn't pass up. About the Two-in-One Collar: First I figured out the neck size of my dog by adjusting the collar to fit him w/three fingers through. Then I threaded the Seresto Collar through the holders, it was extremely simple to do, the Orvis Collar comes with instructions on how to add the Seresto Collar to it – make sure to wear gloves while handling the Seresto Collar. Then when you are absolutely sure where to want the Seresto Collar within the Orvis Collar Trim the ends and put it on your dog. *Make sure the Collar is tight enough to wear the Seresto Collar stays close to your dogs skin, but not too much, they say two fingers through, or else your dog won't be protected and the Seresto Collar is useless. *THE SERESTO COLLAR NOT ONLY PROTECTS AGAINST TICKS AND FLEAS BUT ALSO MANGE *VERY IMPORTANT IF YOUR DOG COMES IN CONTACT WITH LIVESTOCK, WILDLIFE, THE WOODS OR OTHER DOGS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO IT* The Orvis Collar is extrememly high quality, thick, soft and very durable.
