Most IPA's add their hops to their brews at specific points while being boiled. This company continuously adds their hops during the entire 90 minutes of boiling. So I highly recommend if you can to go to your closest Dogfish Head and check out the scene. Not only do they have all their beers on tap but they have amazing foods to pair it with. the atmosphere is fun and they like to support local bands and bring them in too. Anyways, the 90 minute IPA is a double IPA and its IBUS (how bitterness is measured in beer) is 90. That's pretty high. The alcohol content is pretty high also so drink this carefully. It's one of my favorite beers because it's pretty sweet and not as bitter as one would think. Very smooth. If you enjoy IPAs give this one a chance.colleen.w

I'm not a huge beer fan but will have it on occasion. I discovered Dogfish Head's Ancient Ales a few years back and they are such a special treat! Usually swimming in spices and other ingredients like honey they are so different from the weaker flavors of other beers. Not all of the flavors will be great to any one person, but definitely give them a shot! They are also wonderfully packaged and usually have more information about the ancient brewing practices and cultures that the flavor you've chosen is based on!

This beer is not for the week hearted! I LOVE this beer. It tastes so good and feels good going down. Had a great flavor and doesn't feel too heavy while I drink it. One thing about it though is that it is expensive and also had a high alcohol percentage so you need to make sure you're monitoring yourself because it is Def not the same as slugging back a few bud lights.

Served in a beer tulip the dense, muddy brown pour allows no light to filter through whatsoever. Crowning it is a compact 1 finger brown head that gradually reduces to a fine layer with reasonable lace being omitted. Really ominous-looking beer, it actually presents itself as a RIS. And as we were expecting, a rich, complex and pungent aroma was awaiting us. The dominant scents emanating are bitter espresso, brandy, liquorice, molasses sweetness, oak and prunes. A tonne of undertone aromas here too, we detect hints of cherry cola, soy sauce, vanilla, toffee malts and obviously a sharp astringency from the 12% ABV. Incredible stuff here, so complex. The mouth feel is thick and super creamy, gripping the tongue on the way down. Mildly carbonated with full-ish body. Well, it's safe to say that the richness and complexity follows on to the flavour with a sharp alcohol burn to get things underway. Bitter espresso, molasses and woody notes gradually intensify as they lead in to the mid-palate. Another short alcohol sting bridges on to the long and drawn out roasted, espresso finish. Excellent length on display here. Really impressive stuff. We can understand why we were being ushered in to trying this, like no brown ale we've ever tried before. We now recommend it to you. Clocking in at 15-20% abv, dogfish head 120 minute ipa is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha american hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, and then dry-hopped with another pallet of hops. unfiltered and abundently hoppy, it's the holy grail for hopheads! brewed only a few times a year so it goes fast. if you find some grab a few bottles — some to enjoy and some to age.

The current incarnation this variety pack includes Slightly Mighty, 60-Minute, and Festina Peche. While these beers are delicious, it's a less interesting "variety" than the previous pack, which included SeaQuench Ale, Namaste White, SuperEIGHT Gose, Slightly Mighty. At this point, Slightly Mighty is widely available in our area all year, and 60-Minute is basically the flagship DFH beer. Perhaps the previous variety pack just set the bar too high, but it was much better when it included a sampling of beers that weren't widely available or only available seasonally.ToddM
