Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. Bought a couple weeks back hoping to help with terrier/chi/corgi mix who accumulates massive amounts of buildup in her fur on the lower part of her eyes. Also I bought the vitamins for teary eyes of the same brand , so I guess once I’ll finish everything up then I’ll be able to say if it worked all together. Dog breed is Yorki!!! My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Back to the spray treatment, make sure she got dropper-watered, and by that evening she was gingerly back to parking in her 'askance' spot hoping for bits of our chicken dinner! Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. It arrived very quickly after purchase. The eye gel helped to soothe my cats sore eye and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It stopped the redness/soreness within hours. Animals sometimes do get sore eyes with all the poking around they do outside in the shrubbery with their faces. They get dust and grit in their eyes that they cannot get out on their own and this gel will help clear their eyes for them very quickly. I would definitely purchase this product again if needed. It would also be a good product to have in the cupboard as a "just in case" measure, as long as it had a long "use by" date. However, if my cat's eye had not improved within a few hours I would have taken her to the vets straight away. This is not the product to buy if a cat or any animal has a serious eye problem that has been ongoing for more than 24/48 hours. I have two maltese puppies to which I give Angel's Eyes to help with the tear stains that are characteristic of their breed. At first it seemed to help and the stains cleared out however they are back again and bigger than they were before.
