I have 3 large dogs ranging in age from 1 to 10 years. The oldest one has some allery issues with itchy skin, and the youngest has digestive issues. Since gut health and immunity is important, and can decline with age, I think a prebiotic/probiotic supplement for dogs is a good idea. I like that it has a prebiotic and probiotic. This type of supplement is important for fighting inflammation and allergies, which is why I take one myself. Zesty Paws Advanced Allergy Immune Supplement seems like a good bet and I was pleased that all three dogs enjoyed eating it as if it were a treat. I have been giving the Zesty Paws Aller-Immune Mini Bites to my 3-year old Boston Terrier. She historically has had some kind of skin allergies bothering her for her whole life. Various trips to professionals and special diets occurred previously. I was excited by the appeal of the Aller-Immune bites. These bite-sized "treats" boast Immune support and Seasonal allergy improvement. It hasn't helped my dog in this way, in fact she has been scratching more and more. It's tough to say if it's the result of this product or if the weather and flora outside is changing. When things balance out again, I will continue to serve the rest of the product to my dog and see if it helps her gut. My standard poodle suffers from outdoor allergies. After battling them all summer the vet just said to double up on benadryl. I felt like I was drugging my dog. I saw an ad for these chews and thought it would be a better option to at least give it a try. My boy wasn't sure about the taste the first day and I had to wrap it in cheese. The second day, and every day since, he's gobbled it right down just like a treat! To test the results I totally stopped the benadryl and only gave him these chews. He only showed minor symptoms a couple of different occassions in which I went ahead and gave him a single dose of bendryl as needed. But the majority of days were symptom free (his biggest symptom is chewing his paws) and no benadryl needed. What's even better? Wow is right, because I am floored at how well this works! I have 2 pups with horrible allergies – one that nothing else works for. I've tried all different meds, including shots, and she still suffered horribly during allergy season. I reluctantly decided to try this, but we were in the middle of allergy season, and watching her suffer is just too much. Fast forward to July 2019, and my order came in the mail. I gave two of the chewables to my pup the next morning, not expecting much, but just hoping that there would at least be a little relief. Much to my surprise, she didn't scratch AT ALL that day!! I really wanted to like this stuff but unfortunately my dog had other ideas. The one and only time he actually ate it is when the cats threatened to consume his food. All other times he immediately turned his nose up at it and refused to even try. He is pretty picky, though, and likely was turned off by the smell (somewhat overpowering smoked smell). If you have a dog that is allowed any opinion on what they eat, take a pass on this stuff. If you have a dog, though, that eats anything that slows down long enough then I think it is worth a try. Be forewarned, the bottle leaks, no matter how or where you store it (my bottle is always kept upright on his snack shelf in the kitchen), and leaves a messy residue along the lid and upper portion of the bottle.
My Cairn Terrier has seasonal skin allergies. This product was easier to administer, with clear dosing instructions. He seemed to like the flavor. However, I can only assume the product had somewhat of a positive affect on him as his itching decreased, but it tends to decrease anyway in cooler weather. I purchased some peanut butter aller-immune bites to try to help our French Bulldog from licking/biting her paws. She was not a fan of the peanut butter ones at all. I tried smearing peanut butter on it and everything, but she would not eat them. So, I emailed Zesty Paws and they emailed me back very quickly. They offered a refund or a different flavor. I opted for the lamb flavor because I really wanted to try to get her to stop excessively licking her paws. She LOVES the lamb flavor ones!! She takes them like any other treat! I was hesitant to try these for my dog Coco but she suffered from itchy skin and intermittent rashes due to seasonal changes. We normally have to do cytopoint injections at the vet but decided to give these a try. In short, they work great! You just need to be patient and give them the appropriate amount per day. It took a month to notice a difference in Cocos skin. It is possible that it won’t work for every dog but i would advise trying it a month or even two before passing judgement. The only thing is my dog does not “enjoy” eating them. I am not sure if there is a way to make them smell and taste better (I assume they don’t taste good because Coco will not eat one unless I appease her with a tasty treat afterward). So the “treat factor” should be improved if that’s a possibility. My Doberman, Zara, suffers from food allergies. Her coat was dull and flaky. She broke out in these pimple-like bumps all over her back. After steroids and antibiotics the bumps disappeared but her coat was still dull and flaky. While I’m searching for a new dog food, someone recommended the allergy skin health chews. My male cockapoo had started scratching and biting at his skin about a few months ago , it got so bad to the point where he wouldn’t stop until his skin was completely raw and bleeding and we had to keep a cone on him at all times. We tried using anti itch shampoo, hot spot treatments and none of those had worked so we decided to give this one last thing a chance before taking him to the vet as those treatments can be very expensive and we wanted to see if it was something that we could have treated ourselves first. I have a 4-Years old purebred Keeshond (Precious Assal). Unfortunately Assal has seasonal allergy. I use to give him Cetirizine HCL 10 mg per his vet recommendation. Since it wouldn't work, the dosage was increased to 5-Tabs / day (50 mg). It still wasn't working, until I decided to change it to more healthy approach. These treats are great! First of all the packaging is very thick so the treats stay moist and fresh! The packaging closes like a ziplock bag. I received these soft chews to try and share my experience-and honestly, after day one or two I didn't know how I would review because my dog started to smell awful and seemed to be itching more, (when he gets dry skin his oils over produce and he smells AWFUL) but then after about a week of regular use, the smell went away and he stopped itching and the redness in his skin also went away. I haven't seen him itch in about a week and a half and I am incredibly happy about that! He's more playful and sleeps better at night because he's not itchy and uncomfortable and it's nice to have my puppy back! He is larger so he has to take two vs one chew, so they only last a couple of weeks, but they are very comparable in price to other products and I feel actually work compared to other methods we've tried in the last six months. Incredibly happy with this product and will be purchasing regularly now that we have found a product that actually helps with the allergies and itch! My little chihuahua will not eat her Pet Fresh food with this ground up in the food. I cut the tiny pink pill in half and crushed it into her bowl. She will smell her food and walk away, so this has not worked for her itchy problem. The pills might work for other breeds, but not for me. My girl has had bad allergies since I moved to Texas. Mainly skin allergies. She’s about 80lbs and she’s 12. She was taking apaquil daily and it worked however it’s expensive but not only that taking long term allergy meds can actually put her at higher risk of yeast or other fungal skin infections. So that’s why I started this as an alternative. I wasn’t actually expecting to be able to not need the apaquil at all so hats a great surprise. My chihuahua Rebel is 13 years old and has been sneezing, scratching and had watery alot lately. I saw this product online when I was buying his water additive and figured I'd give it a try. I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. I have a beagle mix who is allergic to almost everything! He's allergic to trees, pollen, grass, cats, dust, seriously the list goes on. During the spring and summer his allergies get so bad on his feet. They itch him so bad that he chews on them and it leaves them raw and then that leads to a yeast infection (which he is also allergic to). We have had him on prescription allergy medicine and even have gotten him steroids and allergy shots. This summer has been so crazy with traveling that we have only had a chance to get one allergy shot so when i saw these, which are SO less expensive than his visits to the vet I had to try. I have been giving him 1.5 pills twice a day, as the bottle recommends, for about a week and I am honestly surprised that these actually seem to be helping. He has barely touched his paws, which mean they aren't bothering him being itchy. When he chews on his feet it leaves them super pink/red and in the past week they have been getting back to their usual white coloring. I figured trying these out would maybe help him a little but since his allergies are so severe I probably wouldn't see any results so I am so impressed that I have seen results in such a short time. Got this to try as an alternative to another brand that my dog has been using for quite some time. I like it that this one has Turmeric Root, Grape Seed Extract, Pumpkin Powder, and Bromelain. However, the Quercetin dose is just one fifth, and Fish oil just one quarter of my dog's usual supplement. I guess this one would work for those just starting out on allergy and antioxidant supplements.
