It says it will get rid of bacteria, viruses and is antifungal, which sounds like it ought to cover everything. My kitten has that typical dark brown stuff in her ears. It didn't work better than the standard cat ear cleaners. I used it almost daily for two weeks or so. It loosens the gunk so you can wipe it out but doesn't get rid of it at it's source, which is the whole point. There's new dark brown gunk still being made down in her ears daily. She is an inside only cat and we have no other pets. The vet has now prescribed drops that include a steroid. Hope that finally clears it up.tklp
I rescued a dog. He had bad ear mites, took care of those with mineral oil. Took him to a vet and for the same old make money bit, he had an ear infection. So, he got antibiotics orally. It should come as little surprise that any cat is going to hate having a liquid put in their ears. My cat hated her very expensive prescription medication that never did fully eradicate her ear mites, so I didn't expect her to feel differently about this product. It's too early to say with 100% confidence that this is going to knock out the now only slight, but persistent ear mite problem she seems to have, but so far, so good (3 days of applications). I clean my cocker's ears every 7 to 10 days with ear wash and use the non-alcohol canine ear wipes a couple of times a week for maintenance but every few months she'll get stinky, yeasty ears. My vet has prescribed several different treatments but none have worked as well as the Surolan drops. On day 3 she stopped scratching and rubbing them and by day 4 the smell was completely gone. After the 7 day treatment was completed I cleaned them out really good and to my surprise there was very little discharge. Note – Please use 2x/day for 7-full days…don't stop the treatment when there's improvement.

I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I had used this before, without success for my cocker spaniel. So, this was my 2nd attempt. It worked great in 1 ear, but not the other. I used it for 14 days, and on day 15, the infection was back in the one ear, but gone in the other. Product works great on certain infections, but not for others unfortunately. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. I did a bit of searching and found the Zymox plus advanced formula and figured I'd give that a try before resorting to a vet visit, antibiotics, steroid drops, etc. After the second day of use, she stopped shaking her head, scratching and whining. This was a recommendation from my family chiropractor (whom I absolutely trust!) to one of my children who was always suffering with mild ear infections/swimmer's ears. Let me start saying this works amazing! We also use this every now and then to clear wax our of my kids ears. This contains garlic, lavender and mullein, wonderful ingredients to treat infections naturally. The applicator is great and works well as it is designed to fit in your ear. I honestly find it easier to apply on my children when they are sleeping, just because of the position they are laying. As for the smell, you can only smell the lavender. Natural, respected brand and wonderful price. My only note is, read the instruction. If you/your child still have tubes in your ear, this is not recommended.
