Dog Door Sensor Collar For Sale (2024 Update)

My dog adjusted to this door immediately. No imposing flaps to push through, just a panel that raises to let the dog out and in. This product has significantly reduced the stress on our family caused by a terrier that simply loves to go in and out all day. It works perfectly and is a godsend. It is secure and only permits passage for the dog with the special collar, no other animals or vermin.littlemare2009

We have a seven month old puppy with tiny bladder syndrome so she needs to go outside frequently. However, we also have two cats with feline leukemia and they must stay inside. We ordered this door and it arrived quickly. It took a few hours to install it in the porch wall, mostly time consuming because of the type of wall we had. Once it was in, it only took a couple of days to teach the pup to use it. It’s not very loud so that is good. The delay between the time the dog approaches the door and the time it opens is fairly quick. We were a bit worried that the male cat (who wants to be the man about town) would follow the dog out because the delay from the time the dog goes out and the door shuts seems rather long. However, the cat realized pretty quickly that he couldn’t get outside by himself so he lost interest in trying after a couple of days. We are quite pleased with the dog door. The only problem we had is the collar that the sensor is on. It didn’t stay snug around her neck so she managed to take it off and chew up the sensor. We are ordering a new sensor and I am going to sew it directly onto her regular collar and hope that will fix the problem. Other than that, it is working well and we are quite happy with this purchase.dseastrider

Dog loves it but presentation is misleading. It does not show that it needs to be plugged into a power supply or you need to purchase an additional battery pack. But after spending the additional hundred dollars for the battery pack it allows the dog to easily go in and out, but remember to change the battery out every two weeks or the dog will get locked outside in the middle of the nightCelestecatcrazy

Learn from my mistake and run far away!!! This door was somewhat convenient when first installed, but I quickly found that the transmitter didn't always work, which left my dog inside or outside at times. However, with the first hard rain, this door became a disaster. The door flap leaked water all over my floor, both under the flap and down through the body of the dog door. I didn't discover the flooding until a large puddle had developed, warping and splintering my hardwood. I spent two hours on my knees mopping with towels and trying to seal things with duct tape as the rain continued to flood in under the flap opening. When I called the company, I was told that, since the door had been purchased over 90 days prior, that "the credit card company won't let us do a refund so we can't" (obvious untruth) and that the owner would only let me return it for store credit. They had no interest in finding out what the problem/defect was and trying to cure it or change it so as not to do this to other consumers. I'm was already out the cost of the purchase, hiring a contractor, and having it installed, and now I have to buy a new door and have it put in, as well as repairing my cupped, splintering flooring. Do they really think I'd want to have store credit to buy another one? This failed experiment has cost me well over $1000 so far. I'd suggest avoiding any of this company's products, and particularly this one.BusyBadgerMom

The door itself works great and at first all was good. Unfortunately the door only works with the collar which is junk and even after you buy their expensive batteries will not work because it is junk. Honestly the first time your dog gets the collar a little wet, for example running through sprinklers it will stop working. Do not buy.aaron.brown03

After reading all of the reviews, the VERY common problem is the hinge. This is going to be my 3rd or 4th door and second to purchase (the sizable hole is hard to find a replacement for), most EVERYONE has had the exact same broken and weak point of the hinge. Some of these comments are from long enough ago, you would think that the company would look at the common problems and try and fix the issue. But they seemingly have yet to make an attempt to fix the common and perpetual problem of the hinge!!! GUYS COME ON!!!!!!!! Not adding a photo, there are plenty of them on here already.Isaac09

I've had this door for a year now, and after a year of modifying, and remodifying, I give. Simply not a great door for strong dogs. Our doberman broke the door out initially, it was put back in place. The 2nd time he broke it out some of the plastic fasteners broke off. My SO ended up modifying the door with an aluminum strip and all new hardware. It's been broken off several times even with the new modifications. The key backs fall off and we didn't end up using them anyways to begin with. The frame is solid, we got the wall kit which is flimsy and had to seal ourselves but nonetheless it's installed. I'd love to order another model that will fit the already permanent opening. As of current, our heat's turned off until we figure out what to do to fix the door. It's not strong enough for large dogs, they bust it right out!Bunnyfromdahood

Purchased the door about a month ago. We have 4 dogs ranging in size from 6.5 lb to 60 lb. All of them use the door even the little guy. The big dog did not need any training at all he instinctively new when it went click he could go! I was concerned about the reviews but it seemed to me that these were all very large dogs by height and the photos of the installs seemed low to me. I would recommend the product. No more getting up two or three times a night. YAAA I installed it myself, granted I am more of a handyman than most, but I am also over the 65 mark +. So I would expect the young bucks to do it even faster. But you do need to have a supply of the D cells. Batteries are not what they used to be and you only get about a month or a little less use. I am concerned about how long the tag battery will last, time will tell. Great Productricky5437

The SureFlap door uses a microchip to activate the cat door. My cat has always had a cat door but used to wear a magnet on his collar that would activate the door. Now I don't have to worry if he loses his collar because he can still get in. Very easy to program. Just push one button and the next cat (or dog) to walk through the door is recorded for the door. The door also has a curfew setting. This was gold to me. I had been paying a cat sitter $10 a day to open and close the cat door any day I was gone. Easily set time it opens or locks for the night. If locked, the cat can still enter, just not leave.Valski

Installation was a breeze as I replaced a manual cat door to this microchip controlled large cat door. My cats use a regular cat door so switching to this new door was really easy for them and the controls made it easy for me. Two cats have microchips implanted and the third uses the collar type and the Sure Flap Microchip LARGE Door works seamlessly for all. I used the unlocked mode till all three cats used the door than set it for ID registrations till all three had been through and registered. After this I set it for 10 second delay, then 2 second delay and now no delay. What an excellent quality door and so easy to program. I recommend the large door as I have a 15 lb., a 12 lb. and a 5 lb. cat and it works great for all of them.barbsmh

The Sureflap is a great product, easy to install and by following the setup guide, quite easy to program. It has stoped the neighbors stray cat from making itself at home stealing our own cats food and the fights when it would just come inside. My only problem is to somehow get our own pet cat to want to use it. Seems to be quite stuborn and will not exert enough nose pressure on the flap to overcome the magnetic latch. I may need to carefully dismantle the unit to remove the magnet and then see what happens. I would definitely recomend this product to anyone who wants to have control over both movements of not only their own cat but anyone elses as well.Graham

I had a Large PetSafe Dog Door in my previous home. I loved the panel that came with it that would "slide-in" and allowed the door to be "locked". When I purchased my new home, a new dog door was on the top of my to do list. I went to the store to purchase one. I notice the x-large door was cheaper than the large door (I thought it was on sale or what not) so I opted for the larger door. When it was time to install the door (my brother installed it for me), I came home to notice that the Panel did not slide in and lock like my previous dog door, instead it just "pops" on. From the outside of the door it would take very little effort for someone to "pop" the panel off. And in fact, from inside…my dogs have mastered "popping" it off themselves…making the panel absolutely useless. I've now done some research and noticed there are two types of PetSafe dog doors…aluminum and plastic. Apparently the aluminum door is what I had previously with the "sliding" panel…and now I am the disappointed owner of the plastic door with the "popping" panel. Had I known there was a difference in doors…I would have opted for a Large Aluminum PetSafe dog door; however, now I'm stuck with a useless X-Large Plastic PetSafe dog door. Now because there is an X-Large hole cut out of my door, I would have to go with an X-Large Aluminum PetSafe dog door, but I cannot afford to spend that kind of money, and a Large Aluminum Petsafe dog door will not fit the space. If I were rich, I could just buy a new door and a new dog door, and problem solved; however, I am not rich, and even the thought of having to buy another dog door when I've already purchased one is making me very upset, but the Panel for the Plastic Door is truly useless…and the Panel component is extremely important in my situation. The Plastic Dog Door itself is a good dog door…I only have a problem with its "popping" Panel. If the Panel is an Important feature for you as well…please go with the Aluminum door, NOT the Plastic door. I sure wish I had known about the difference in the first place!Kari

Just order our 3rd doggie door. Our first door was installed when we first moved in almost 17 years ago. We had a two small dogs so the cat size was perfect. As they aged we needed to replace the dog door size to make it a bit easier for the now old dogs to use. Also the house door was changed so we wanted a new dog door for appearences. Now our replacement door flap doesn't fit as air tight and we have lost a bit of the plastic on the out side frame. These things are due to LOTS of use and NJ weather. Hot summers and Freezing winters. Plastic really gets tortured. Ours was installed by the men installing the storm door so that was a plus for us. I called in to get a price on a new door and Pam in customer service was able to answer all my questions and provide me with just what I needed. Thank You Pam. My new door should be here with in the week ready for our Jack Russell pup and silly grandchildren that think its a hoot to come in thru the doggie door. This is a good product-needs to be installed properly like another item in your home that gets this much use. If that is done and you inspect it when cleaning it you should have years of use. Nice pet door! I was a little irritated with the plastic screws and cheaper design, but I understand why the company went with the plastic screws. Installed well. And this really needs to be internal pet door for those questioning which one to buy. I would buy a double flapper if installing into a wall, and probably a stronger material, such as aluminum, if installing into a external door.TShea

We have not installed it in the door yet…but just looking at it, it looks sturdy and indestructible, which is good, because my dog literally eats and tears the doors with the flexible plastic. I have 7 dogs of varying sizes who use this door constantly. The only fault I find is that the rubber gaskets between the slats in the door wear out . Everything else lasts a very long time. I tweaked it by putting piano hinges between the slats and that has extended its use a lot. If I could buy just that part the door would last practically forever! The unit works fine and as designed, that is not the issue. There are two things that will frustrate a new owner of the product. First is the cost of the batteries to keep the unit functioning. However, there is an easy fix if you are at all handy and the cost falls dramatically. Second is if you have a rough house dog or more than one dog and they play hard you will find yourself hunting down the pieces parts of your collar, a lot. The collar design makes changing the battery an easy chore. That same ease of access is why you will chase the parts down as a tooth or toenail hooking the case pops it right apart. Again this is an easy fix if you are handy with good electrical tape. Overall I am more than pleased with the door that this collar operates and the collar(s) I have. Having three dogs it is a real convenience to have. I would have gladly given a 5 star rating save the two issues mentioned. Both I have solved but to those who are not handy they will be an issue so no 5.aallynnp

I immediately took steps to keep the collar from coming apart based upon many other reviews. I zip tied them and so far they have not come apart. HighTech Pet could do so much better with the quality of these collars. It is hard to understand why they don't.Laura

I've had the large power pet high tech dog door 3 years. Continues to work like new. I've had as many as 3 dogs using this door at same time. Dogs learn quickly the dog door because the door opens per their collar when near. Sensitivity can be set as to range of dog near door. There are no drafts around door installed. I put mine in the wall. This collar worn has special batteries. Not greatly expensive lasting 3+ months. Depends on door use. I love this door. My dogs also. My only complaint would be, collars need to be rechargeable. I will purchase again when mine no longer works. Saves in heat and cool bills opening and shutting automaticallyKim

I bought this cover to keep my Himalayan cat Charlie inside! He is less that a year old and loves to follow our dogs, Molly and Woot Woot around the house. He doesn't know that he is a cat! He had gotten out on the porch one day and I heard the pet door flat being opened and closed. I found him on the porch, totally confused. I had to protect him from his own curiosity! Very pleased with this product. I actually needed it for an alternative use and it worked perfectly. I feed my electric car charging cord from my charging station to my vehicle and it was exactly what I needed. Whistle used to have a useful health tracker, but they changed it such that it provides little useful information now. The tracker itself is horrible, and causes more problems than it’s worth. I only really use it when we’re hiking off leash. It takes longer than 30 minutes to connect when I’m trying to find the location of my dog, regardless of whether he’s out of sight or nearby and I see him. And there are plenty of cell towers nearby. One time it did connect and it — falsely — told me he was in the middle of a highway, and I almost caused an accident trying to find him. I since inferred this was false because another time it told me he was 1 mile away, in the middle of the Mississippi River, about 5 seconds after I saw him near me. Whistle makes me have panic attacks more than I would without it. DO NOT BUY unless they make major changes to its connectivity.William McIntire (Billy)

The data collected about my 2 dogs’ health and activity is great. So far we haven’t received any false notifications about them leaving the zone, which was a problem with the Go. And when one of them took off recently while we were far from home, the location tracker was great and more frequently updated than our old Go models. This was true even in close range when she was hiding in the woods nearby in a very rural area of northern NH. My biggest complaint is the collar itself. With the switch, we cannot choose our own collar. Our dogs are both on the low end of the size, which means a constantly floppy end. The larger dog tries to grab her sister’s collar when they wrestle, which is dangerous. And the two small plastic pieces for holding it in place don’t stay put for more than 5 min. It’s driving us bonkers and we are looking for hacks to keep it in place. Also, the metal grommets already look loose after only a month of use. I’m worried about them giving way. Any of ice or new design on the way? The collar quality is not up to Whistle’s standards. ☹️Catherine K.

I like the design, but the lower pad where it contacts the floor is plastic. It slides when you push the door open. It should be rubber so it won't move. I need to modify it.Craig

We have twenty Magnador pet doors in use. We tried other doors but they were destroyed within a week. Another kennel owner recommended the Magnador. she used them exclusively and suggested we also use them. I had to replace five of them last year and five more of them last month. This is an AWESOME dog door solution. We purchased ours in 2011 and it works great. INSTALLATION: I’m not handy so we had a carpenter install the door. It wasn’t a problem for him. We live in an old house so rather than cut the original 1920 door, we bought a door from Home Depot. TRAINING OUR DOGS:: It didn’t take long for our dog to learn how to exit the house and reenter the house. WHY I LIKE IT; Versus a flappy cheap plastic door…this has two major advantages (1). More secure. For a large door, a flappy door can be easily broken into (just crawl in!) where this door would require force and would set up an alarm, and (2). Very weatherproof. The seal is tight, so hot air (summer) and cold air (winter) doesn’t continuously lead in. So there is a comfort and a cost savings factor. DURABILITY: In 7 years (Our dog uses the door about 5x a day, so that is about 13,000 up/downs!) we have had 3 issues. The incredible customer service person (Deidre, who has worked there for about 20 years) is extremely knowledgeable. She walked us through one problem in less that 5 minutes. She helped us fix another problem which took about 20 minutes. And the third issue required a new circuit board which under warranty was free (and out of warranty about $80) and once we received it, took about 15 minutes to install. My wife and I used to work at Purina for 17 years and 12 years respectively, so we know alot about dogs and cats. Our jusdgement is this door, although costly up front, is very well worth it. Don’t know the life of the door, but I would expect it to be longer than the 7 years we have had it. So if it good for 15 years, it costs about $120/year.ScottRod

Faulty flap it sticks on one side. Cats unable to exit It was fitted professionally at personal cost to ensure done correctly. But cats cannot exit as the door has to be forced open on one side. This collar is a game changer when it comes to training your dog! We have a lab that loves to chew on everything and dig in the yard. After a few days with this collar, we can definitely see the difference. The collar comes with great instructions and is very easy to use. I love that it is rechargeable and uses easy to replace cartridges for the spray. Its also effective when she wanders into the neighbor's yard. I cant speak to the 300 yard range because we dont have that kind of space to test it but this is a good quality, well made water resistant spray collar that was well thought out when designed.Jerico

Purchased this after we could not get our dog from barking at our next door neighbor. Its been about a week and the barking has stopped. I tried the tone and vibration at first and neither had any effect on him. Next i tried the unscented spray. Weve only had to use it a few times and the barking has stopped. I charged the collar and remote when I first got it and havent needed to charge it since. My only complaint is that i wish the buttons on the handheld remote were raised more or that they were colored.wenmar717

We wanted to keep out new kitten inside whilst allowing our existing pets (2 small dogs and older cat) to come and go. Unfortunately, this product is virtually useless- will allow any animal to exit, schedule must be the same for all pets (not good when you have a dog who needs the loo throughout the night?), and if you have to override on the door itself, you have to reimpose the curfews through the app manually.
