There is no safer collar than Premier's Martingale to use on new dogs in our rescue or for dogs going on a transport. I will not ship a dog on any transport without this collar. Traveling is stressful, even going to the vet is stressful for a country dog who finds itself in traffic after a ride in a strange vehicle. Regular collars often slip off the necks and heads of a frantic dog. This collar will not! When I get in new strays who don't have a clue what a collar is I can't risk them getting loose. Again, I depend on this collar for control and for the dog's safety. When I taught dog obedience in the Public sector, the Martingale and the Gentle Leader were the collars I sold to my students and they quickly had their dogs in control and training was swift while the dogs' neck's were protected. I have used the Premier Martingale since 2000. It is my basic collar of choice. Regular collars: I don't feel safe using them.
The functional design of this collar is beyond superior. However, it also has a feature (or lack thereof depending on how you look at it) that is extremely important to me that most people likely don't think about…..the amount of metal that comes in contact with my dog. You see, I live in AZ where the heat is extreme four months a year, even in the shade. When you can't wear sandals or sunglasses with any metal design features, hanging earrings that may brush your neck, and are always conscience of how close your bare leg is to those keys hanging from the ignition…….one thinks twice about what one puts around the beloved pet's neck (and paws). I have an adopted fur-baby that had a lot of control and behavior issues. Training, the usual way was just not working. I tried this and, within one day, the disruptive behavior (running and tearing up things in the house, jumping from one piece of furniture to another, non-stop barking) all stopped. He began with sitting, immediately after only two "vibrations" of the collar. By the end of the week, all I had to do was take out the remote control, say the words of sit, stay, no and wait, and he did so. Now, I don't have to use the remote at all but just say the words. I will tell you that, under no circumstances would I recommend the "shock" feature. Because it is easily changed on this model, by accident, I found out, the hard way just how much it hurts the animal. If you click MODE, by accident, from it being on vibrate, it switches over to Shock. BE VERY CAREFUL when you are about to use the Y button, for sound or vibration as, if it's on shock–and this was the very low setting–the dog whelps loudly and jumps, shakes, etc. I would not recommend it for any animal lover as, I don't even want to know what it feels like. Because the vibration is strong, even on low settings, and the other setting of "beep" is a high frequency sound, I found them the most effective. Thebeep sound is for Guiness (my new family member) to come–I use the vibration for correction, when needed. Guiness was the most difficult dog that I have worked with and I have behavioral training for dogs, which I have used for all of my pets. If this worked on him, it will work on most dogs that have behavioral issues. I would recommend it for the vibration and sound settings–and hope to get one that doesn't have the shock setting as, I feel that is just inhumane to use on a dog (my opinion after seeing how he reacted, on just a low setting). PLEASE USE CAREFULLY until you are used to the remote. That is my only advice when purchasing this for training.kelly4jesus
I have had the collar only a few days and so far it has met every expectation. We had a more expensive name brand training collar before this one which my dog somehow removed and chewed to oblivion. Rather than spend over $150 to replace it I wanted to try out a cheaper alternative in the likely event he ruins another one in the future. He had already been familiar with a training collar so going to this one was no problem. I like having a beep tone as well as a vibrate warning before having to go with a full on shock. I have so far only had the use the warning tone which is nice and loud on this collar and the pup recognizes it right away. It seems to have decent distance, have not tested the claimed 330 yards yet though. For the price it is a great unit with nice features. The more expensive one we had before was much more robust but I didnt expect this to be built the same for 1/5th the price, with that said it is built well, surprisingly well for the money honestly. Have not tested the waterproof ability yet as we dont live near water but it looks like it should be fine to get wet without issue. Battery life seems good so far, going on several days without a recharge but we dont use it all day either. Overall I am so far satisfied with it, I would recommend this toanyone who wants an inexpensive training collar but I dont expect it to last for years like the other one we had.kerr8719
Tested on an open field with the collar in line of sight, the range is roughly 150 feet. That said, I strongly doubt if any of the other e-collars can do much better without extraordinary antennas. Here in the US the transmitting power of devices like this is severely limited by law, so the only way to get more range than the competition is to have more prominent antennas. This collar delivers on a 2 year old high drive, 78 pound, male doberman. I used the shock once at 30 and it definitively got a yelp and the dog's attention. Since then the "vibrate" mode is effective enough. Most of the time we use the collar to stop barking at the window, The dog barks we say "quiet" and if, and only "if", the dog immediately barks again he gets a "vibrate". He seems to avoid barking immediately after a "quiet" command. Now the challenge is to extend the time he doesn't bark for at least 30 seconds after a "quiet" commend. Our second and very infrequent application is open field recalls. For that I'd dearly love an electric collar with a 100 yard range, but even this collar's 50 yard range is helpful. Using an e-collar in an open field is a tricky business. What seems to work is to put the collar away until you have a good recall without distractions. Even 10 feet in a hallway or tennis court teaches you and your dog how to do a recall that ends with the beast sitting nicely in front of you and getting a tasty reward. Never repeat your recall command even if it means constantly dragging the animal back until it figures our what you expect. What the e-collar is then useful for is dealing with distractions — another dog, an annoying squirrel or even sniffing a bit of chicken soup spilled nearby. Issue your recall command and look for that momentary hesitation when the animal decides to ignore you and hit the e-collar to remind the beast that you just gave a command. Any other timing and the animal has no clue and would just as easily take off in the opposite direction to get away from the unwelcome stimulation. One feature I miss is a combination tone/shock. Does not work at 100 yards as advertised. I bought this because I have a big yard and the invisible fences do not offer a big enough range for my dog to roam. I bought this trainer because of the 100 yard range it claimed to have, thinking I could give my dog more room to play and run. My house sets about 80 yards off the road in front of our house. I have tried several times to correct my from the house before he gets to the road and it would not work.I have to be with-in 30 yards of my dog before it works. I have a crazy dog that is a Lab-Pointer. He was the worse in his puppy class. I have trained dogs before, big dogs and hunting dogs. This guy doesn’t get it! He gets the trading collar though. I have had this for months. I only shocked him once. I rarely “ buzz” him on a low vibrational mode to stop unwanted behaviors like over exuberant jumping on visitors. It works. It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! This was exactly as described. I really like the quick release. Makes it much easier to put on and take off my dog. We were unable to walk our dog before this collar. He would pull to the point of choking himself out. We tried several collars and harnesses before going with the Prong collar. It took a couple of days to get him used to wearing the collar. I didn't think this would work on the 1st day. He pulled hard and it pinched him. He got scared and refused to move. We were patient worked with him slowly, 5 minutes at a time. I purchased this collar after ordering the same collar on Amazon only to be disappointed with a generic prong collar made in China (I've seen more than one supposed "Herm Sprenger" product have this problem on Amazon – that is, advertising the real thing and then shipping out something generic.) I am very happy that I ordered through 1800petsupplies, as I received an authentic Herm Sprenger prong collar. I started using this type of collar on my first German Shepherd and needed a second collar after getting him a brother. Walks with the two of them on prong collars are enjoyable because even though they both have "loose leash" training – they still need a little correction to be truly loose leash walkers. Herm Sprenger prong collar brought about immediate change in a previous out-of-control lab. I watched several YouTube videos to learn how to train a dog with this collar – a must do! Hi. We just started using the collar on Saturday. It is amazing. Cleo is not uncomfortable and more settled. It is a very well made collar. I would have liked it to have a larger loop that creates the constriction. If it were larger the collar could be adjusted smaller to get the "choke" effect when the dog pulls. Because the loop is small, the collar has to be left loose to fit over the head. I won't buy anything else but these Country Brooks Martingale Collar with Double Handle Leash. They are extremely reliable and at an affordable price. Made with heavy duty nylon the anti slip collar is impossible for my dogs to escape from making it great for training and everyday use. A 6 ft leash is perfect for nature walks however when we are in public the "traffic handle" is just the right length to ensure safe walking in a crowd or near traffic. These are the ONLY collar I purchase for my dog. He’s an escape artist, so harnesses and regular collars have never worked out for us. I purchased one collar four years ago, and just recently purchased the same in a different color. The only reason I’m giving a 4 is because the newer collar seems slightly different… cheaper and thinner almost, and the metal clasp is fading in less than six months. I honestly don't know what we'd do without this collar. My lab Ivy loves to run and explore on the trails by our house, but when we get near the end of our "walk", she has a tendency to continue ahead of me and wander the neighborhood. She responded immediately to one of the lower shock settings on the collar the first time I used it. After that, no shock was needed. Now she just needs to have the collar on to stay close by – occasionally she gets distracted and does not come immediately when called, but with the "beep", she immediately comes. We have only used the shock that one time. Ivy gets much more exercise now since she can be off leash, and I can enjoy our walks. As a bonus, this collar and remote are very sleek – Ivy and I are by far the most stylish on the trail.
I'm personally somewhat new to the world of 'balanced' training, as I've only worked within positive reinforcement boundaries up until now. I picked these collars because I have all of the faith in Eufy/Anker brand. I'm very satisfied with the collars – they appear well made and charging with USB-C should be a snap (I haven't tried yet, however). The collars seem very comfortable for my two dogs (45lbs and 55lbs). I love that the electrodes are covered in silicone – seems much more comfortable than bare metal. Of course, I decided to risk turning myself into a meme to see how the shock feels before potentially using it on my dogs. I couldn't feel levels 1-3; 4 was a small tingle; 5 was 'omg did I stick my finger into an electrical socket?!' Even at five, it wasn't painful – just a visceral recoil. Fortunately, my dogs have only required the sound/vibration. I'm hoping to never use the shock, of course, but it's nice to know I have it. The remote is handy and a good size, but I have discovered the buttons are perhaps more sensitive than necessary. The remote slipped into the couch once and I accidentally buzzed my dogs; another time, I had it in my hand and accidentally buzzed them when I was trying to hold onto something else at the same time. Overall, I'm quite pleased. My learning curve is changing the settings on the remote to switch between the dogs or to set it to catch both at the same time. Also, I wish the vibrate had the ability to choose between one correction (ideally) or two (how it works currently). As far as training, I've begun giving my dogs a command just once and if they don't listen, they get buzzed (I choose not to use the sound because it would be correcting both dogs each time when most corrections are to one dog). The dogs are listening somewhat better in the first week of owning these, so I feel encouraged. Balance is the key to happiness.
We are part of a dog parent group that is always seeking recommendations for great products to assist with training. I really like this collar for its ease of setting up and how stylish it is. This is actually the more attractive collars we have tried out and I am a bit jealous I didn't try it sooner. The remote is small and fits conveniently in your palm. Paired with positive reinforcement, this collar is a great tool and a no brainer for us to recommend. Our golden would not be as well trained without an E collar and responded well to his new collar.

I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. The PetSafe bark collar is a basic bark collar with built in levels of correction. repeated barking activate higher levels of correction. In the base model, programming is done with the on/ off button. Confirmation of operation is accomplished by audio feedback. My hearing is not the best, and I had to hold the collar right next to my ear to hear the tones, but otherwise operation is strait forward I tried the collar on two different size dogs with excellent results. One was a medium size dog, a standard Poodle of about 40 pounds and the other, a small dog, a Schipperke, about 12 lbs. Both dogs responded well to the collar. I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. It has taught him his crate is his safe space. The Naturvet product was purchased at Tractor Supply.
