When I rescued my Great Pyre mix she had ear infections that were 8 and 9 out of 10 grade infections. The vet put her on steroids to clear it up. Kept getting infections. We had no choice but to find a safe ear cleaning solution bc our dogs are pitty's with unclipped ears so they're prone to dirt/wounds. My poodle has a lot of ear hair that needs to be cleaned often. In between baths, the smell can get kinda funky. Used this ear rinse to see if it would help and it does. It keeps the waxy smell away longer but it's not mask any existing smells. It's easy enough to use and my dog doesn't seem to mind it too much. I put it into both ear canals, and then rub the top of the ears for 30 seconds, making sure I get that wet, squishy sound. I do it three times a week, and she has not had an ear infection for 2 years! The only negative is that it has a little bit of a chemical/perfume smell while it is still wet. As soon as it dries, there is no smell. When the house is cold, I put the container in the microwave for about 5 seconds. My German Shepard had recurrent ear infections for over a year. At first it was once a month, then twice, and it ended up with painful inflammations every week with pus discharges and bad smell. That was terrible, nothing helped, antibiotics prescribed by vet stopped the process for some days, but afterwards everything was back again, and internal antibiotics made my dog weak. Then we found out that this was not a bacterial infection, it was fungi! But we could not find any efficient remedies against it. We used oregano oil and similar herbs internally, but they helped also only for a while. Then I found out information about Zymox and ordered it, that was our last hope. The first time I cleaned my dogs ears with Zymox, it smelled awfully. The next day the smell was not so bad, and after some other days there were no smell at all… We used it as indicated, 14 days, but already after 7 days my dog recovered. Ordered this product after doing research online for what I was SURE was an ear infection in our American bulldog, but was hesitant to get another large vet bill after a recent eye injury that left us $500 in the hole. One of our cats had polyps removed from one of his ears a couple of years ago. His ear has remained sensitive and vulnerable to infection. I was using Epi-Otic to clean his ear. It was somewhat effective but really stressed my cat. The Ark Naturals lotion is gentler and more effective. It's definitely more natural and my cat is much less stressed after I use this lotion, he even seems happy. It's liquid drops, not thick like lotion. I've used this product for several years on my dog and three cats. It's all natural ingredients….no harsh chemicals. I pour about two ounces into an empty eyedropper bottle and warm it for a few minutes before putting into their ears. They don't mind it because it doesn't burn their ears like the stuff from the vet does. It gets rid of ear mites and yeast infections with just a couple of treatments. Ark used to have a neat "spout" applicator on the top of the bottle, but how it's just a big awkward squirt top that goes everywhere. I've used this product on my dog who usually gets alot of ear infection and this works always on her. Since her vet prescribed it on her.. but Poor baby is always scratching n shaking her head. After I bathe her she ends up with ear infections. I clean her ear with solution but she still gets ear infections. This product is the best. I've tried many prescription medications from the vet for our Boxers ear problems. She has had hematomma's in both ears from shaking her head. Vet said it was a yeast problem and would take time to get rid of it. Nothing worked until I read several blogs about ear problems in boxers and several mentioned Mister Bens. Great product, really helped my cocker spaniels' ears. I have always been very good about cleaning my 2 cocker spaniels' ears at least twice a week. However, one of them has always had a problem with the skin inside her ears looking dry and crusty and having a slight odor. I have four dogs, the most recent being a Saint Bernard. While I knew floppy eared dogs had more of a risk of ear infections, I didn't really think a Saint Bernard's ears were that floppy. Well after two ear infections that I went to the veterinarian for meds, I talked to a longtime Saint Bernard owner who said they keep their own personal supply of ear meds on hand. So I started searching…I read nothing but great reviews about this product, so I purchased. Once it arrived, conveniently my Saint Bernard had started to develop that ear funk smell and redness. I began using it as the bottle instructed and low and behold the ears got 100% better within days! I now use this regularly when ear problems start to arise and the wax starts to build up. I don't necessarily need to use it for the 7 to 14 day period now, it's more of just a spot treatment as needed and boy does it work. I generally put some on a cotton ball, put in the ear and massage. Then I'll go through with q-tips and wipe away excess wax while also adding the solution onto the q-tips. Our little Yorkie has been battling severe ear itching/scratching, and general "unrest" for a couple of months now. Our vet gave her several cytokine injections (thought it might be allergy related) to no avail. We also tried a few rounds of antibiotic therapy. She also exhibited a very pungent odor (very smelly) coming from her ears (we keep her very clean – bathing her once a week). Upon inspection, her ears where very rough and bumpy looking – dry, and scaly. They were also red and inflamed. I searched online for a product that could be of some use to her. Found Zymox. Oh my gosh! After 3 days of use she was as new doggy! We have used on her for 7 days now, all her signs and symptoms are GONE! I suspect she had some sort of bacterial or fungal infection? Same story as others with constant vet trips and put on meds for ear infection only to go back a month later for the same thing. Then 2 days before a Holiday I could not get in to my vet as they were too busy and booked up. I knew my cocker's ears were hurting. I started the zymox and the next day went to emergency vet.
