    The preventic collar is fantastic. It keeps the Ticks off of our too Goldendoodles. We live in a very rural on 40 acres with about 200 or more acres around us, all trees. The trees are oak and drop lost of leaves in the winter. The favorite of ticks. Before these collars even taking nexguard once a month they came inside with live ticks which got on us. since preventic we have not seen a tick in the house for 3 months.     Bought the Adams flea & tick plus as it came two in a Pkg & we have two small dogs. There was no warning on product that small dogs could suffer side effects more so than larger dogs, I found out online when my baby (the smaller of our two at 11 #'s) started acting very strange. He couldn't be still, yet at bed time he was so tired he would try to lay down & there was involuntary twitching & muscle movement, he couldn't be still. Morning & no difference, so it occurred to us only thing new was the flea collar! Took it off & called my vet. She said long as he hadn't eaten it, he should be ok but to monitor & if he didn't improve he would need pet urgent care. I love my little boy so much! I was in tears, but as day went on he did improve some and that night he was able to sleep right up next to me with some twitching, but not nearly as bad. End of second day, he is much better but I can't imagine the damage done if we hadn't put it together & removed the collar!

    After one night in the collar, my poor Chihuahua was weak in the back legs, had NO appetite, started throwing up yellow stomach acid with bits of red, stringy blood in it, and is shaking all over and miserable. I am SO glad I pay attention to everything with my service animal, and knew the collar was the only thing different!!

Remove collar from package, unroll and stretch to activate insecticide generator. As the collar begins to work, a fine white powder will appear on the surface. Do not use on puppies under 6 weeks of age. Do not unroll collar until ready to use. Place the collar around the dog's neck, adjust to proper fit, and buckle in place. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the dog and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a property fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over the dog's head. Leave 2 or 3 inches on the collar for extra adjustment and cut off and dispose of extra length. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged or medicated animals. If used on pregnant or nursing dogs, do not replace collar until puppies are at least 6 weeks old. Sensitivities may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. Some animals may become irritated by any collar if it's applied too tightly. If this occurs, loosen the collar. If irritation continues, remove the collar from the animal. If signs of sensitivity occur, remove the collar and bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. Do not use this product on dogs simultaneously or within 30 days before or after treatment with or exposure to cholinesterase inhibiting drugs, pesticides, or chemicals. However, flea and tick collars may be immediately replaced. This collar is intended for use only as an insecticide generator. The collar will begin to kill fleas and ticks immediately. For continuous flea and tick protection under normal conditions replace the collar every seven months. The collar kills ticks for 5 months and aids in their control an additional 2 months. Under conditions where dogs are exposed to severe flea or tick infestations it may be necessary to replace the collar more frequently; however, do not replace the collar more frequently than every 5 months. Wetting will not impair the collar's effectiveness or the pet's protection. If the dog goes swimming or is out in the rain it is not necessary to remove the collar. The collar may be worn with a regular collar. It is recommended that the pet's bedding or sleeping quarters be treated for flea and tick control with a product registered for this use such as Hartz UltraGuard Flea and Tick Spray for Dogs. Storage and Disposal: Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage and disposal. Pesticide Storage: Store this product in a cool, dry place that is inaccessible to children. Pesticide Disposal: If Empty: Nonrefillable container. Do not reuse or refill this container. Offer for recycling if available. If Partly Filled: Call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused product down any indoor or outdoor drain. Easy Activation: To activate collar, hold at each end – stretch – and it's ready for your dog to wear.

    I received the collar and opened it to put on my cat. I immediately noticed the pleasant smell of the collar and how soft and flexible the collar was. It went on with ease and was simple to put on. The purple color was a nice contrast as well. The cat is leaving it alone and when I pick her up that light scent was very nice and not over powering. I highly recommend the color for comfort, style and I really like that the effectiveness is for 7 months. Before using the collar I had a situation were my other pet who is a dog woke up one morning and couldn't walk and was in pain. As it turned out he had contracted lymes disease from a tick. He is doing better but was on medication for a month and a very expensive hospital visit for him. My decision was to get collars that I can trust and be confident in. That is why Hartz was the choice for me. It lasts 7 months and I don't have to worry about any of my animals for the season. With it being so easy to put on and having it last long is a bonus. They all smell wonderful and you can be at ease knowing they are protected. I love Hartz Ultra Guard for my cats and my dogs!     I received a Hartz® UltraGuard® Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs – White in exchange for a review. I loved the fact that there is enough length in the collar that it would fit multiple size dogs. I put this on my 62 pound Pittie the very first day I received it. I did have a little trouble getting the end through the buckles but luckily, my dog is very patient. I haven’t noticed any adverse effects on his skin nor scratching where the collar is. I do have some very tall grass that he likes to run and play in on a regular basis and I typically use some sort of OTC drops from the store. I have not found a single flea or tick on him since I started using the collar and definitely recommend anyone giving it a try before spending a fortune at their local veterinarian.SexyCougar

    My dogs go to the groomer for their baths every 6 weeks and I was shocked when they told me my german shepherd had a few fleas on him and the groomer informed me that fleas were bad this year because my dogs have never had fleas., so in a rush, I ordered these flea collars and they seem to work but I also use a spray bottle with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar mixed with 2 cups of water and spray it on my hands then rub my dogs down before they go outside in the mornings first of day then I spray their beds a spritz of it and voila!!!! no more fleas!!!!!! I really like the metal tin that they come in. However I was a bit confused as it stated that there is one collar but clearly there are two.     I made the mistake of giving my fur baby a flea and tick PILL, and had immediate adverse reactions that now have her on life long, long term medicine for both heart and liver. I will NEVER buy anything other than a collar for the rest of my life, and had to learn the hard way. Every other week there's a new ER visit due to complications from flea and tick pill, even though its well out of her system by now. These collars are tried and trusted. I'd rather have an off chance of having to pluck ticks/fleas by hand than to EVER give ANY pet a flea/tick pill again.     First, the great: I love the way this collar smells. My husband is extremely sensitive to smells so most of the tick collars have been too strong for him. This cedarwood/ peppermint combo is lovely and not strong-smelling. The good: getting the collar put together was a little tough. The first stop is difficult to get past, but then it’s fine. The not great: I have still gotten a few ticks off of my golden retriever. I still feel this is better than if she didn’t have anything on. Thanks for making a product that is so wonderful.Kate D.

    This collar does smell great. We also haven't had any flea or ticks so it's also working. We are not happy with it though for two reasons: 1. It's hard to get tight and one of our cats keeps getting it caught in his jaw when he cleans himself, so we finally had to remove the collar. 2. I am concerned one of our cats could get choked by this collar if caught in something. It's very strong and doesn't have any "break-away," feature so this possibility worries me.Susan K.

    Ordered 3 of the flea collars. Two of the dogs had no problems. But our 15 lb Shitzu had terrible reaction. Only had the collar on for about 6-8 hours. Restless, anxious, eyes swollen and itching. Immediately removed collar and started giving Benadryl every 6 hours. Washed face and around neck area. That night started whining and shaking head. Finally gave bath with baby shampoo. Learned valuable lesson. Going to research more before putting something on this little fellow.Sweetnanadonna

    They last 3 months. It’s 1 collar per package to last 3 month’s. My senior mix breed pit/boxer/springer, is 10 year’s old. Her skin is sensitive to topicals. And I live in the woods. She stays close to home now. And and additional fleas I noticed. Is because I’m getting signs I need to treat my grounds outside my house. I use a granular pesticide in a seed spreader every 6 feet rows (keep away from tree’s). Just before a rain fall, to wash into the ground. And cut my grass first. So my pet’s don’t eat it. I keep this away from my pet’s. After a good rain. Their good to go potty outside. And I don’t have to worry about them bringing in fleas or ticks (twice a year, spring and mid summer). I use a flea & tick spray every couple of weeks. Is good enough. A little on back, and tummy. I rub it in with my hands. Around to spread it out. Then wash hands. Never over use pesticides products on pets. I don’t use flea & tick shampoo except maybe 3 times a year. And don’t use spray with shampoo. That’s too much. One or the other. Then I put back on my flea collar after bath, when dry (best results). I’m in NW Arkansas, in the Ozark’s Mountains.Chichewa

    One of my dogs can not tolerate the chemical topical flea and tick treatments. He had terrible, large, scabs on his skin where it was applied. I tried these collars last year on him, and never saw a flea or tick. They have that great powdery scent, so he is able to cuddle with me and not stink me out with that bad chemical smell.     We've been using these collars for several years and rotate two through the year when we replace the Seresto collar, giving the other a good bath at the same time. One note is that I actually cut the tabs off the Seresto collar to put it through the Orvis collar holders. Not sure if that's what's giving some of the negative reviewers trouble?DogMom10675

    So I bought two of these collars one in a large, and one in a small; and had them both personalized hoping to go tagless. Attaching the serresto collar was the easy part. If I had known what an absolute pain it was going to be to adjust them, plus adjust them with the serresto attached I would have stuck with two collars and been done with it. My large dog is actually on the smaller size of large and customer service advised I size up, which I'm glad I did, however that also means that the flea collar is not evenly attached thru the whole length of the collar. When she scratches at her neck the serresto peeks out, and is not actually held in place that well. Unfortunately for both dogs the customization is difficult to read due to the adjustment. On my small dog you can read her name, but not my number. And on my large dog you can read my number, but not her name. I went ahead and added their tags anyway. All that being said I have been happy with the quality of the collar. It has held its color well, and the thread on the customization has not picked, even with the heavy wear and tear my coonhound gives it when we are out and about. I have also been impressed that the serresto collar has not come away or broken out of the keepers on the collar like other reviews have suggested. Overall, I would recommend this product, just be prepared to spend some time adjusting for the right fit, but once it's on, it won't let you down.MandyK

    Bought this collar as we live in Maine in the Summer – Tick Country. Our dog wears a Seresto Collar and when I saw this collar which is Two-in-One. And comes Monogrammed with Name and #, couldn't pass up. About the Two-in-One Collar: First I figured out the neck size of my dog by adjusting the collar to fit him w/three fingers through. Then I threaded the Seresto Collar through the holders, it was extremely simple to do, the Orvis Collar comes with instructions on how to add the Seresto Collar to it – make sure to wear gloves while handling the Seresto Collar.     These collars came recommended to us by our veterinarian as the cheapest option for flea and tick control. We've been using these collars for the last 4 years and they've been doing a great job. Thankfully, our dogs haven't had any reaction to the collars yet and I hope it stays that way.     I've used these at least 4 times now and absolutely love them. When I first purchased we had a flee issue and they helped to eliminate the problem. One of my dogs is allergic to flee bits and when we make sure these are replaced just before the 8 months is up she doesn't have any issues. Now being out in the country they're needed even more and have continued to work perfectly. Other topical or **** flea medications cause my dogs to become nauseous and give them diarrhea. They also only last a month.
