I love this gate, especially for the price! I had to cover an 8 foot area and its perfect. My little one is 1 1/2 and he likes to shake it. Each end is connected into studs so it wiggles but its secure. Both sides have a little slide door, its easy to slide but I prefer to step over. The latch kinda sticks. I also needed a dog door so I actually made one myself with this gate and it was really easy! I know all the dog door long gates are super expensive. I hope this helps!jennifer
We bought this gate for an 89inch entryway between our dining room and living room and it works perfectly. Installation was fast and easy and it has held up to all of my kids banging on it and shaking it and whatever it is that kids typically do. the metal bracket screwed into the gate at the bottom is a little bent from their activity but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, bent, but still works perfectly. We don't have any problems opening it and closing it, it might be a little tricky when I am in a hurry but still only takes a few seconds. My 3 1/2 years old did open it once unassisted but he hasn't tried it since, I'd imagine its pretty tricky for most kids especially for the ones younger than 3. We bought this for our 1 year old and I wished I had bought it sooner!! I love that it condenses and swings open both directions, can be opened from either end, and that it would be very easy to put away for when guests come over if need be. I've been looking for a while to find a gate that would fit my space. I have a 66in opening. They all look great then you read the specs. 4 panels that are 28in wide. Well that wont work. I bought this gate to confine my dog in the kitchen which has a large open doorway. It fit well into the space and looked nice. Installation was pretty easy although I had to screw into drywall so if I were keeping the gate I would need to purchase anchors for the screws to ensure stability. For the most part this gate was just what I expected and I was initially happy with my purchase although the door was sometimes difficult to open with one hand. Unfortunately I have an incredibly agile dog and within a day of the gate being up she figured out that she could easily jump right over it. Will be returning the gate since it doesn't fulfill its intended purpose with my dog. I am sure it would work very well for dogs who are not able to jump so high.LuvMyShiba
Seems to be well made and easy to use. But if you stretch it out straight across and you have a wooden floor you will need to put something such as a rubber strip to grip it down. This gate is a nightmare to fit tightly enough to hold up to any leaning on it from curious children. Pushing down hard enough to get it in place knocks it out of place during install. The latch to open it sticks, and if I pull too hard I disengage it entirely instead of it remaining in the "remember my preferred width" position. It feels so bendy I worry pushing in hard enough will damage it. It is absolutely not functional as a gate for a determined, walking child. Its one advantage is it's low enough to easily step over and so we barely have to take it out thank goodness, but this would not be an advantage if we needed a proper barrier for a child older than maybe 2? Luckily we just need a gentle reminder they're not supposed to enter or leave that room without us in tow. I’m not sure what product the negative reviews are for (shipping – which shouldn’t even be a review of the product-duh?, flimsy, walls are uneven- seriously?) because it is not this product. This review is for the Dig Defence four pack animal barrier fence. This animal barrier is perfectly awesome for me to use around the bottom of the chicken coop wire to keep my dogs or critters from trying to dig under the wire into the chicken coop. It is extra nice quality, heavy duty metal fence sections. Each section is thirty two inches long and eight inches high and has a combined coverage area of over ten feet in length. I know this is mainly made to deter and keep dogs from digging under their yard fence but I intertwined the fencing legs in through the holes in my chicken coop wire and then drove it a little more than halfway into the ground to deter my dogs from digging at the chicken coop fence or any varmints. It is very easy to use and drives into even hard ground with ease with a small sledge hammer or any hammer will work. The legs, with two inch spaces between, are so thick and heavy duty, that they do not bend at all when driving them into the ground. I almost guarantee nothing will dig past these ground barriers as stout as they are.Ang03
These are just what I needed! My inside dog doesn't dig out when she is in the yard, she actually dug IN to come live with us as she was a stray and decided we looked like a good home, or maybe it was the tasty treats we fed her that enticed her to stay! Nonetheless, this keeps OUT the critters that love to come in my back yard (i.e. possums, raccoons, skunks, etc…) to eat the feral cat food I put out for my TNSR (trap, neuter, spay, release) colony. Our wooden fence has places that are worn away at the bottom, and these make a great barrier to fill in those gaps. The cats (and possums, I found out) can crawl over the fence unlike the skunks (they haven't learned yet, thank goodness! 🙂 I feel certain these would work beautifully for pets (dogs) that like to dig OUT of the fence, or try to squeeze through the bars of an iron fence. We have neighbors who don't seem to understand what a leash law means. It's not only annoying, but also gets our dogs (on their leads) sick from time to time. No, we don't keep our dogs out all the time, but do hook them up to a lead to use the bathroom then bring them back in. When the neighbor's dog does gross stuff in our yard, not only do we have to pick it up and dispose of it if we see it, we have to deal with our dogs smelling/rolling in/sometimes eating what the neighbor's dog leaves behind. (It's gross, but many dogs eat what other dogs drop.) These barriers are to the rescue. The back of our property has a fence that is not ours and therefor we can't maintain it. We can, however, add these strong no dig animal barriers on our side to keep the roaming neighbor dogs out of our yard. I have placed them in place without pounding them in yet so you can see the size. Because of the ivys growing near where I want the barriers I will need to put on long sleeves before installing them. Pros: Seem very strong. Seem very durable. The gaps are small enough to let smaller wildlife through while keeping out unwanted dogs. Heavy so dogs and/or other larger animals can't move them. Cons: None Suggestions: *Like many metals, there is a black residue on the metal. You will want gloves when installing (which should be worn anyway since dealing with metal–protects from unintentional scrapes) Overall I recommend these barriers! A little pricey for the quality, altho it does seem to do the job and is made of all metal so it can be used outside, so four stars just for price point. Not too hard to assemble and set up, nice and light weight, I did have path way posts that weren’t exactly set parallel, so the gate did work well to be able to offset the closing and locking mechanism. I’m using it to keep two medium-large dogs on the porch. It seems to work well for that. The lock mechanism is a little wonky and cumbersome, but I have it so all I have to do it raise the gate a little and it sets right in the top and bottom holes and stays closed. I wouldn’t use it to keep a curious toddler in one place, especially at the top of the stairs or near the opening to a pool because of that cumbersome lock mechanism, but that’s my opinion. I really like the gate . Looks good. I bought them for my deck to keep my Dachshund in. Work good. Should last awhile. Not so easy to open and close. They swing around when you open and close the main gate. If you have the small door opened in one direction then they hit your shins. In the other direction, they hit the wall or door frame where they are located. So we just removed the little doors altogether (instructions below). Also, we attached a couple of bungee cords to the main gate so that it swings shut on its own since the kids always forget to shut it. OK, maybe I forget sometimes too. Anyway, we're happy now. Our medium/large dog can only stick her head through the small door. My 5-yr-old nephew informed me that his head also fits through the small door. Hopefully the gates just last and don't break down as another reviewer reported…. For anyone who wants to just remove the little doors: Lift the little door up as high as possible on the main gate frame. Use a pair of very thin, precision needle-nosed pliers (I got mine in the jewelry section of a craft store) to reach in and grab the spring-loaded bar as high as possible and pull it down as much as possible. This will not be enough to pop the bar out, though, so you will need to then pull the gate toward you in order to create tension on the bar so it doesn't pop back up. Then remove the pliers and use them to grab the bar at the top again. This time, when you pull down, the bar should pop out from the frame of the main gate and you can then remove the little door. Very easy to install! Works great. We did not screw into the wall, just used the pressure part and it works perfectly. We can open the large gate and we go through with no problems and we leave the smaller pet gate open. We have 2 cats and a brittany spaniel. We needed the gate to keep our brittany spaniel out of the kitchen, but still allow our cats through the gate and this works perfect for that. Our brittany spaniel some how still managed to squeeze through the little pet door so we just tied a tight ribbon in the middle of the small pet door from top to bottom so she can no longer squeeze through yet our other pets can fit through. So keep in mind if you have a medium sized dog like our brittany spaniel they may still be able to squeeze through the small pet door, just tie a ribbon right in the center of the small pet door from the center top to center bottom like we did and they won't be able to.This pet gate works great, wish we had found it sooner!soapnmomof2
Came apart after 2 weeks of use. Cheaply made, looks like small amount of epoxy holding it together when it should have been soldered. First picture is where joint came apart and second one is another joint with a small dot holding it together. Not going to hold up long term. This barrier is thick and sturdy, and very clear. the only problem is it is rolled up and wants to stay that way- it is incredibly difficult to get it straight, and can hurt when it tries to forcibly roll back up on you. Definitely a 2 person job. It is also so thick that it takes two hands and a lot of strength to punch a hole in it to attach with zip ties. I think the product could actually be thinner and not so stiff and unflexible and do just as good a job. I am not looking forward to putting more up!Lmagl
Very easy to do, if you have an assistant. The most difficult step is making the first attachment if the plastic is longer than arms width.
