I used this product this last season for my dog and he never got flees. I feel so much better using natural stuff than chemicals on him. It was very affordable. It has a very strong scent at first but the scent does lighten up after a day or two. I would recommend this to anyone with dogs.katrina .s

I am not someone who takes my dogs health lightly. I try to use natural products as much as possible. We had a tick outbreak and everything I tried did not work. I bought this product earlier this week. I read the instructions and made sure that my dog met the weight requirements for the product. It worked the first day. She stopped itching and biting. It's very distressing to find 3 happy engorged ticks on your dog 24 hours after treatment following all the requirements re: proper placement location on the dog, shaved the hair to make contact only on the skin, no water on the dog for 24 hours or at all after treatment. I was frankly, pretty shocked. This is an older small dog with arthritis. He is already in some pain and to find the ticks on him on top of this frankly really upset me. I breed Chihuahuas and I also foster cats/kittens. My Chihuahuas are litter box trained so they rarely get fleas because they dont spend a whole lot of time outside. Even when we go for walks, theyre in a dog stroller lol. Anyways… I fostered a litter of kittens that were found outside and covered in fleas. I gave them all dawn baths because they were too small for any flea medicine and my Chihuahuas ended up with fleas. I needed a product that was safe for pregnant/ nursing mama which frontline is. All my fellow breeders that I know also use this product on their dogs. Once I treated my dogs, I havent seen any fleas since!kala

Let me begin by saying my dogs have never had fleas. Even when I would forget to apply flea treatment on time, they still would not have fleas. I decided to try this product, because it was more economical than others I'd used. This has proven to be a mistake. A few days ago, I noticed my dogs scratching, so I checked them, and they both had fleas. We have a house of pets including cats and a dog along with carpeted bedrooms. This means during the Spring and Summer we have to clean and vacuum daily and keep on top of flea prevention otherwise it is a nightmare! Anyone with pets and carpets understands. Since we live in the South very few flea products actually work for our animals and I’m not sure why, but it has to do with the fleas and immune to so many products. I gave PetAction Plus for Cats and PetAction Plus for Dogs a try and kept my fingers crossed. When this arrived one of my cats was starting to scratch – whether flea related or just an itch I’m not sure, but with it being that time of the year I wasn’t taking any chances and immediately put a dose on her as directed by the packaging (on the skin between the shoulder blades). So far since putting it on I have not seen her scratch once. I also made sure to apply a dose to the other cats who were due for their flea prevention and the dog as well. Again, no scratching. While it’s still early in the season to see just how well the product really works, so far I’m seeing promising results. The prevention is easy to apply and there is no odor. I have tried numerous flea and tick treatments and still would see a flea here and there. Living in a place where the weather is warm year round fleas are really bad. I was feeling like I was not going to find something that worked and was affordable. Specially since I have 4 dogs and 1 cat. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Weve had a recent battle with fleas and how ever many vet standard flea treatments we used they didnt work. we used several very strong toxic products for the house and they didnt seem to do anything apart from make us feel nauseous. Seemingly after a spraying of this stuff it all seemed to stop, the scratching, the headaches. I so wanted this product to work but don't waste your money. I followed the instructions & doused our dog's bedding etc. with this spray. The smell is not unpleasant but it is very, very strong and took days to be bearable. Anyway, a few days later, when we found an engorged tick on the dog (thanks, Frontline) we experimented by putting it in a plastic bag & spritzing the Tropiclean into the baggie. Hey, it says "guaranteed," so we wanted to find out. More than 36 hours later, the tick was still waving its legs. I have a senior lab , a kitten of 4 months, a 6 month old cockatiel and a 7 month old Akita. This product just being sprayed on rugs took my Akita into liver failure within hours. It did its job as expected and advertised. It was easy to apply, did not cause irritation or have an overpowering smell. It seemed super oily to me, however I'm sure that is necessary for it to be effective. Also I got some on my skin and it did not cause irritation, even though my skin is very sensitive. So you don't have to worry about washing couches or furniture if you or your family members have sensitivity issues. And though it's obviously not something you can (or should) buy at a dollar store, it is very affordable considering you get a few months supply.rachel.b

To protect my dog from ticks, I put this on my dog once a month in the summer. I go camping a lot and while we were just in the woods for the weekend on the North Shore he didn’t get one tick. Word of advice though is to not let the oil touch anything because it stains and gets everywhere. STOP 🛑🛑🛑🛑 and read this before you purchase any Hartz product. First, Google: HARTZ KILLS PETS. You will see a horror story about thousands of pets being poisoned, and killed by HARTZ flea and tic products. They are largely unregulated because instead of medication they use pesticides, those pesticides KILL dogs and cats. That company has known about these deaths and medical emergencies for decades now, they don't care. Trust me, the fleas won't die but your animal will. This happened to my cat 10 yrs ago, attached is a pic of my beautiful CeCe, she was in a coma for a day but was lucky enough to survive. I contacted the company , they ended up paying for the $1500 vet bill but didn't admit it was their product that caused the emergency. I live in a crazy flea ridden area. Southern swamp fleas are really tough to keep away. If you've got the money, go with Nexgard. We don't, so we tried this product out. It works just as well as Frontline, which here, isn't wonderfully but good enough. When we lived in IL Frontline was plenty. We also wash pet bedding often, and use food grade diatomaceous earth. You've eaten it many times without realizing, farmers use it on wheat and other crops to kill destructive insects (caterpillars and other wormies with exoskeletons). This is a very safe method for killing adult fleas, hopefully before they can lay eggs. Don't buy the pool stuff, get food grade. Sprinkle it on the carpet before vacuuming. Once fleas come into contact with it, they die within 4 hours – it slices up their exoskeletons. Obviously we can't coat every flea, but doing this regularly really cuts down on the problem (nyuk) and is much safer than harsh chemicals – plus, no smell. Just like talcum powder, flour, and other particulates, avoid breathing it in, as it can be an irritant to your and your pet's lungs (no tossing it in the air and dancing under it naked, but a little shouldn't hurt). For those hard to vacuum areas like under furniture, sprinkle a bit and leave it. There are also these bulb things you can buy to spread the dust more evenly, but it's cheap so we just use a sifter or shaker bottle with small holes. We killed them inside, but they kept reappearing. We realized we have a screened in porch with sand and gravel right outside the back door. Fleas love that stuff. Sprinkled it in the gravel and added the porch to the regular DE routine and now it's unusual to find those devils. Our dog has bad allergies to fleas, so they still irritate him but once they've bitten him they're kaput. Good luck! And if you life in the Southeast, my sympathies to your poor doggie!L.C.

Tried this on my dog that not only has sensitive skin , but also goes insane when bitten by a flea. Scratches and rubs herself raw and hair free in spots all over. Baths and dips made no improvement. Started using this a couple years ago and couldn't be more satisfied. I haven't noticed any side effects and she is significantly more comfortable. I know when its time to retreat. I have used Fiproguard Max for three years and have been completely satisfied then it was discontinued and replaced with Fiproguard Plus. Thanks to that I have been fighting a flea problem on my dogs and in my house!! Imagine sitting on your couch with your dog and a flea jumps on your arm, then you find them all over your dog! Mad dash to the store to buy (more $$) flea killer shampoos, sprays . Wash the dogs, all the bedding and soft furnishings, spray the house from top to bottom and guess what? In two days they're back! Finally had to get my house fumigated, (more $$) research other flea prevention products (more time) and get my dogs treated with a new product. I am SO mad!! Why on earth did they have to change the formula? BTW I phoned before I ordered the Plus formula to ask that question and asked if it worked as well as the Max but of course all the person knew was what was printed on the product description, well heck I could read that myself , thanks for nothing!AnnW

Absolutely useless product. I am aware this is only useful for 24 hours. My dog enjoyed eating it as a treat but other than that it's useless! It did absolutely nothing in 24 hours if anything it seemed like it made it worse! All it seemed to do was irritate the fleas and make them bite more! Also another thing to note after taking this my dogs were extremely extremely thirsty like I've never seen before! My poor boy. The fleas love him. I can give him a flea bath every day and he's still infested. After trying daily baths, over the counter remides treating my yard and topical treatments, nothing worked so I decided to try a oral treatment. I swear by this. After one treatment I would find fleas on my bed (he jumps up on my bed when I'm not looking because I didn't want to share his unwanted friends) my blanket was covered…. of dead or dying fleas. 1 TREATMENT people. I wanted this to work so bad because my dog is highly allergic to fleas and shreds himself up even when he has the topical flea prevention. Even if a dog around him has fleas he breaks out (our neighbor dog has fleas so my poor pup get around them). I saw this and wanted to try to give him some relief to my itchy pooch. The first day, I saw 3 fleas on my dog and purposefully left them on there to see if it worked. I came back in an hour and they were still there. I figured since it says up to 4 hrs I would wait. Later in the day I checked him, fleas still there. So I thought may it took some time for his body to get accustomed to it. The next day same story, he went outside in the morning I checked him saw he has some fleas, gave him a pill checked him about an hour and a half later, fleas are still having a party. Let it set for the rest of the afternoon and checked him before dinner, still the fleas are alive and kicking. 3rd day same story. At this point I can see it isn’t working and I wasted the $25 it costs for it. At least I didn’t spend the $50 for the month. I bought this 3 months ago from our local sams club for both our dogs. I don't know any other way to say this but it does not work. NO DON'T BUY! Look other places for flea and tick prevention this is a scam! We are completely infested with fleas. Its a never ending fight. We are going elsewhere for our prevention. Applied directly to the skin and followed all directions and it still failed to deliver. We are extremely disappointed as this was a good amount of money for what seems to be water and a promise. Unfortunately I bought this for 2 of our dogs who had ticks. It was a good deal, and cheaper than most other good things. Now I know that sometimes there's this one in a million chance that something really bad can happen, but you never think you will be that 1. Within 24 hours of applying these tick drops to one of our dogs(exactly as instructed) we woke up the next morning to find him dead. The other dog is still perfectly fine. I assume he had a reaction overnight unfortunately, and we didn't have the opportunity to do anything about it. Now I'm not blaming anyone, but I cannot recommend these drop for that reason. I also do not like the fact that these are different in the way you apply them compared to any other tick drops we have tried. This particular brand wants you to apply it down the entire length of the dog's back, instead of just behind the nape of the neck. I feel that this contributes to it not being as safe as others. I've used a few boxes as i have a few cats and made sure to split the hair and I still found fleas on my cats the next day and everyday after. You are better off using Revolution. puuurrrrfect product. I found flea dirt on the dogs, but no fleas. So i knew they were in the house but dying off on the dogs. However, the cat is indoors and therefore not protected. I have used this product for years for spiders. Being terrified of spiders, this product gives me a lot of comfort. I spray it around the corners of every room in the house every 3 months and hardly ever see one! It's also pretty safe for animals to be around after spraying, and that's a great benefit.Sheryl N

I purchase this product for my 13 year old – 5 pound 2 ounce Chihuahua. I started purchasing from Petmeds because my Vet has been having supply issues, and wanting to change my Fur babies medication to different medications every month to every 3 months. Considering my Fur babies age and possible complications in constant changing of medications I decided that Petmeds was a better option for our Family. I also like that there are some savings involved with purchasing from Petmeds than purchasing from my Vet. Petmeds also includes a treat for my Fur baby, however I do have to break it into several smaller pieces. Maybe consider a treat for a small Fur baby instead of one that would be more appropriate for my larger German Shepherd Siberia Husky Fur baby.Settles Fur Babies

I have 2 very picky dogs, whom despite not having table food, turn their noses up at a LOT of treats, and meals. I had to cancel a subscription box I had for them because they only liked the toys and not the treats. I also have tried many different oral flea meds and the same thing, they will not eat it, no matter how I try to mask it in cheese or chicken, they could just smell it. With these, it doesn't have that chemical/grassy smell, and I have no issues giving it to them wrapped in chicken. They don't like to eat it by itself, but if I leave it on the floor long enough, they will eventually eat it. Since I have 2 dogs, I can't just leave it there in case one of them eats both doses so I wrap it in some chicken and they gobble it right up. I rescued Peanut 8 months ago. He's a senior dog, about 10-12 years old. Even though I had just lost my 16 year old male to congestive heart failure. I knew this little guy needed me. He had a severe skin infection, so he needed something oral to take instead of putting it on his neck. This is a small chew, very easy for him to chew. Our one cat’s fur fell out and skin was red and itchy at the site of application. This happened with Revolution as well (although the reaction was less severe with Revolution), so we had to switch him to Advantage Multi. He’s had no issues with Advantage. Our other cat has had no reactions and is enjoying the wooded area behind our house for the summer. I think it works as well as Revolution for him. We’re keeping him on Selarid. In conclusion, I would not recommend this for cats with sensitive/fragile skin. If you’re not sure about your cat’s skin, you may have to try it at least once. And if your trial fails, I would say to not throw it away. Maybe give the remainder to a neighbor’s cat or to a shelter; that way, your money isn’t completely wasted as somebody else can also benefit from the product.alizay

Dear Vet Rx, My mother has used this product for me for about two years at the recommendation of my nasty vets. It not only geys rid of fleas but makes short work of ticks, and those awful worms. I hate worm medicne even worse than tooucal flea meds. Spoiled cats agree, we do not like these pests, so tell your cat moms and dads to get a prescription for Selarid. I been used this fore many years until my husky pass away. This product was a great shield from the ticks since we leave in tropical weather its normal the dogs catch some. Applied to all 5 of my dogs after bathing and drying them thoroughly and I have to say, for about a week, it actually worked but after a week it stopped working. I have 5 dogs and I cannot afford weekly applications nor would I expose my dogs to the chemicals that are in this product that often. So I do not recommendlori.t

I first started using Vectra 3D (the one that goes up to 20lbs) in 2015 or 2016 as it was vet recommended. I used to use Frontline but my dogs would still get ticks w/ Frontline. It got to a point where i had a couple vet visits a month just to remove a tick. My dogs are mostly indoor dogs and i live in the country. My house is clean. My dogs would pick up the ticks from when i’d walk them on the road nearby. Let’s just say i’m experienced w/ tick removal now. My vet recommended it to me and he carried it. When i started using it back then, both my dogs NEVER had a tick again! I even tested to see how good it was, walking them in areas i wouldn’t normally allow them to go into, like high grass. Result – still no ticks. They’ve never had fleas or heart worm – knock on wood. It has been the best and most effective treatment i’ve ever used and i have never used nor wanted to use anything else. I ended up having to switch vets and the vet i’m with now doesn’t offer it. I’m glad to be able to get it off 1800petmeds and at a great price too. The vets aren’t exactly cheap w/ vectra but it’s worth the cost if it keeps the nasty critters off your dog and your pocket book from a vet visit. After 1 and half hours I put him a bath to wash off product. Helplessly watching my poor dog not knowing what else to do. Don’t use product!! Shame on my vet to sale this product. My dog is a part of our family. I wouldn’t add a star !Michelle

I'm not sure why we continued to use this product for so long. We apply and still frequently find ticks on our dogs. Contacted Vectra and their response was well if you hadn't used it you would have found even more ticks. Would rather pay less and get the same result from another brand. Side note: this medicine left a permanent stain on our leather couch.Hamilton
