Buckle that holds the collar closed is cheaply made. Used it to take my dog for a walk and after a couple of pulls the collar came right apart. Put it back on and soon after the same thing happened. While I love the look of this collar, the clasp design is very unreliable. While the outer receptacle of the claps is metal, the inside is plastic. It's very week, and the collar flies off with the slightest pull. Sometimes it flies off of my Doberman when she barks with some spirit. Not so heavy I'm worried about the added weight being a burden, not so light I'm worried about it not holding up. The stitching is even and secure. The colors are vibrant. I loved this collar. It makes my aussie look so tough. I ordered medium thinking about the size my pups neck would grow into and I learned these are true to size and cannot be adjusted so much because of the 2 custom patches, but I was able to move one of the patches through the collar and it worked for me. It's hard to find a decent fitting collar that doesn't become loose from being walked on a leash or just moving in general. I really like the martingale style. It says put and doesn't become loose. I have purchased a few of the martingale in different designs. The only downfall is that the collars become worn and fade fast. I purchased 3 total collars, one for a rescued mom beagle, and 2 for her beagle/dachshund mix pups which are all indoor/outdoor. The collars have faded and become tattered within a few months. They are either inside, or go outside to the kennel or use the bathroom. They don't go off running in the woods or do anything super crazy. Maybe it's to be expected due to the material it's made from. But paying approximately $15 for a collar, I would hope it would stay in good condition. I just rescued another pup and will probably purchase another for her just because I love the martingale style. So giving it 4/5 stars due to the fact that they become worn and tattered rather fast.Kim
