Whistle used to have a useful health tracker, but they changed it such that it provides little useful information now. The tracker itself is horrible, and causes more problems than it’s worth. I only really use it when we’re hiking off leash. It takes longer than 30 minutes to connect when I’m trying to find the location of my dog, regardless of whether he’s out of sight or nearby and I see him. And there are plenty of cell towers nearby. One time it did connect and it — falsely — told me he was in the middle of a highway, and I almost caused an accident trying to find him. I since inferred this was false because another time it told me he was 1 mile away, in the middle of the Mississippi River, about 5 seconds after I saw him near me. Whistle makes me have panic attacks more than I would without it. DO NOT BUY unless they make major changes to its connectivity.William McIntire (Billy)
I have had whistles for several years on several dogs, the classic box shaped health + GPS unit has always worked great. When the dog is away from home it updates frequently even in areas with low cell service. I have had two of these health + GPS + units that have the switchable batteries. Neither have worked. They very rarely alert that the dog has left the home area and even when they do, they are unable to track the dog at all. Even on an hour long hike, it never finds the dog even though there are several dogs wearing classic whistles that are operating perfectly. I live in an area that has about 2 bars of cellular service. This may be the problem but that is common around here and in many rural areas. Some of the health features do work but I buy these units to keep track of my dog and these don’t do that. Get the classic box shaped unit, they’re great. Also, the size guide says these switch units fit on very small dogs and cats. They absolutely do not. I have a 21 pound beagle and the switch was completely unusable on her. The classic unit is a little big but works for sure. The switch did fit my 50ish pound lab border collie mix very well. Whistle, if you are listening, the switchable batteries are a good idea but this design doesn’t work. Design something different and stop selling it, it doesn’t work. I don’t know who needs to hear this at your company but don’t sell things that don’t work. Also, fix your size recommendations for it, they are misleading and wrong.
The data collected about my 2 dogs’ health and activity is great. So far we haven’t received any false notifications about them leaving the zone, which was a problem with the Go. And when one of them took off recently while we were far from home, the location tracker was great and more frequently updated than our old Go models. This was true even in close range when she was hiding in the woods nearby in a very rural area of northern NH. My biggest complaint is the collar itself. With the switch, we cannot choose our own collar. Our dogs are both on the low end of the size, which means a constantly floppy end. The larger dog tries to grab her sister’s collar when they wrestle, which is dangerous. And the two small plastic pieces for holding it in place don’t stay put for more than 5 min. It’s driving us bonkers and we are looking for hacks to keep it in place. Also, the metal grommets already look loose after only a month of use. I’m worried about them giving way. Any of ice or new design on the way? The collar quality is not up to Whistle’s standards. ☹️Catherine K.

I've had the FI collar for about 8 months now, and it has been a downward spiral for the last month now. Initially it started off great, it was reliable, and it delivered on its promises. However, now, it is unreliable, inconsistent, and not worth the cost.
If you want a product to rely on to keep track of your dogs, this is not the one for you. Here's a list of the issues that's developed in the last month with it that have gone with no resolution:
-Battery is advertised as lasting between 1 to 3 months; reality is, it lasts about 2 weeks at best, though now it's losing about 15-20% per DAY.
-Collar can't keep consistent connection to base or home wifi. When my dog is sitting at home, the collar constantly and randomly disconnects from both wifi and base station and sends me a false alert that he has left the house.
-It doesn't actually alert me when my dog leaves the network and goes on a walk. I've taken my dog out on a walk, then checked my app to see if it kept track, only to see it notes he left the home network and when he came back, no track of where he went in between.
-Took my dog on a day out at a dog park, FI collar didn't register we were there at all. Just noted the time I left the house and came back. No GPS info or connection to phone to indicate where we went or were, despite being out and about for a few hours.
-Battery life is increasingly diminished. Charged it to full 3 day ago, battery currently at 64%. Dog's been home mostly, minus short daily walks.
-Collar doesn't detect or connect to collar base. I'm sitting at home within range and the collar is connected to my phone via bluetooth, rather than at to collar base.
-Due to all these issues, went for the tried and true "restart" attempt. I deactivated the collar but when I went to reactivate it, it failed to do so. So now the collar is just a normal collar with zero tracking ability.
-Have had multiple back and forth with customer service, but all they do is ask me to do certain things so they can see what the diagnostic says, but nothing concrete or noticeable changes are being made.
Never has such a product gone from a high beginning to a burning, crashing end. Due to initial credit, I've been trying to get things fixed with customer service for the past few weeks to no avail. I really wanted this to work as the battery life is really attractive, but now it has become too unreliable and untrustworthy to depend on.

Really like the activity & sleep tracking. Provides good insight into my dogs habits! tracking is good for the most part.
Areas for improvements: battery life and range. I have 5 acres total, with 2.5 my dog can roam freely. Initally after purchasing the collar, my dog would go out of wifi/base range every couple hours, which put it in GPS mode and drained battery very fast.
I ended up buying 3 more base stations and spreading them out around my property,which solved the issue. Now the collar gets about 2 months charge.
The base stations are $40 a piece, so if you have a large house or property and don't want to spend more to keep collar from dying every couple days, this might not be the right solution for you.
Subscription model: You can add multiple collars/dogs to one account, however if you want to track a new dog Fi makes you pay for a second subscription. It would be nice if one subscription would cover all collars on one account.Z W

When I take her for walks, I get a notification about 10 minutes after we have left the house telling me that she’s left the house. That’s not very helpful, a dog having a 10 minute window before a notification is sent.
The past few weeks her collar/the module has been offline or searching for network. In the meantime, the home base has lost connection to the collar and the network, meaning that the location tracker has not been working, it doesn’t even register that it’s at home. The step counter has not been active either.
When notifying the tech support of these new issues I was pushed to just buy a new module/collar (since I’m past the 1 year warranty) instead of being helped to possibly troubleshoot any issues.
I joined their Facebook group to see if I can find assistance or help from someone else who has gone through the same issue to see if it can be resolved, but in order for you to join the group you have to say that you won’t post anything negative about the collar or try to discourage anyone else from buying it. Shady business, my friends.

Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. This was a game changer for our dog. Several very bad behaviors/habits were corrected within a week of getting this collar. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. Never have tested out to the advertised 400 yd range. 3) The vibrate feature is very helpful (and pretty much the only thing we have had to use since the initial training). 4) The "Nick" shock feature is a great attention getter for the dog. 5) The range of shock levels provides everything from you can hardly notice it to pretty intense.In PDX
I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. I’ve tested this on myself and the “shock” is not so bad if you stay below 20 it just allows the dog to “hear” you in stressful or loud/distracting situations, and it lets them connect the command with the action without you chasing them or forcing them into it. I have never purchased a training collar before but I was desperate with a eight month old puppy who had some habits that seemed impossible to break. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. Our lab/retriever cross became frightened of loud noises, using the collar has steadily improved the situation. It doesn't work immediately, be patient for a week or even two. A noise de-sensitisation CD (follow the instructions exactly) will also help considerably. Just check the tightness of the collar every few days because some dogs will scratch at it and can occasionally loosen it slightly – when cutting off the excess length leave an inch so that it doesn't fall off if the dog does scratch at it (they soon stop).Nicholas J

Our 16 year old terrier became terrified of the car about a year ago – hyperventilating, fighting to get out – heartbreaking and we couldn't take her any further than our dogminders so we could go out on business. I have had this since January of 2018, best purchase IMO, is it perfect? No, does it work really really well? Yes it does. Is it sometimes slow to lock onto your phone? Yes, easy fix as I turn the collar and receiver on prior to getting ready or when we get into the car, that way everything is good to go when its time to go. The longest it has taken to acquire and lock on to my phone had been around 5 minutes. I use this several (3-4) times and week and haven't had any issues with the collar prongs bothering my dogs neck or causing issues. This collar has tracked my husky as she ran off leash while out on hikes. It shows on our phones where she is, when she stops running, when she barks and what path she takes. It is neat to be able to watch the paths she takes when chasing the deer in the woods. It has tracked her over half a mile away. I honestly don't know what we'd do without this collar. My lab Ivy loves to run and explore on the trails by our house, but when we get near the end of our "walk", she has a tendency to continue ahead of me and wander the neighborhood. She responded immediately to one of the lower shock settings on the collar the first time I used it. After that, no shock was needed. Now she just needs to have the collar on to stay close by – occasionally she gets distracted and does not come immediately when called, but with the "beep", she immediately comes. We have only used the shock that one time. Ivy gets much more exercise now since she can be off leash, and I can enjoy our walks. As a bonus, this collar and remote are very sleek – Ivy and I are by far the most stylish on the trail.
I'm personally somewhat new to the world of 'balanced' training, as I've only worked within positive reinforcement boundaries up until now. I picked these collars because I have all of the faith in Eufy/Anker brand. I'm very satisfied with the collars – they appear well made and charging with USB-C should be a snap (I haven't tried yet, however). The collars seem very comfortable for my two dogs (45lbs and 55lbs). I love that the electrodes are covered in silicone – seems much more comfortable than bare metal. Of course, I decided to risk turning myself into a meme to see how the shock feels before potentially using it on my dogs. I couldn't feel levels 1-3; 4 was a small tingle; 5 was 'omg did I stick my finger into an electrical socket?!' Even at five, it wasn't painful – just a visceral recoil. Fortunately, my dogs have only required the sound/vibration. I'm hoping to never use the shock, of course, but it's nice to know I have it. The remote is handy and a good size, but I have discovered the buttons are perhaps more sensitive than necessary. The remote slipped into the couch once and I accidentally buzzed my dogs; another time, I had it in my hand and accidentally buzzed them when I was trying to hold onto something else at the same time. Overall, I'm quite pleased. My learning curve is changing the settings on the remote to switch between the dogs or to set it to catch both at the same time. Also, I wish the vibrate had the ability to choose between one correction (ideally) or two (how it works currently). As far as training, I've begun giving my dogs a command just once and if they don't listen, they get buzzed (I choose not to use the sound because it would be correcting both dogs each time when most corrections are to one dog). The dogs are listening somewhat better in the first week of owning these, so I feel encouraged. Balance is the key to happiness.
We are part of a dog parent group that is always seeking recommendations for great products to assist with training. I really like this collar for its ease of setting up and how stylish it is. This is actually the more attractive collars we have tried out and I am a bit jealous I didn't try it sooner. The remote is small and fits conveniently in your palm. Paired with positive reinforcement, this collar is a great tool and a no brainer for us to recommend. Our golden would not be as well trained without an E collar and responded well to his new collar.

I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important. I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who’s wanting to train their dogs in the humane way with physical reinforcement without harming their pet.Lorielnj
