I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. I tried benadryl I tried EVERYTHING, had to even do skin antibiotics and steroid Injections and still he was itching…. so… the dr tried him on this….. now… first thing I will say is this medication isn't cheap especially for bigger dogs (if you have a 10lbs dog it's not going to be too bad) but my poor dog had to start off taking 2 16mg 2 times a day and it was roughly 300 for the first month, however from there you taper down and after a few months I got him down to half a tablet once daily…. anyway…. this medication worked like a dream for him. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. These are very soft chews that can be crumbled in your hand. I like that they are all natural and have ocean kelp among other excellent ingredients. These are safe to be given to dogs of any age, and are safe for any size or breed. I feel better about giving my dog a natural supplement. My poor dog suffers from allergies enough that his eyes turn red, he sneezes, and his skin gets itchy. I've had him on these for about 3 weeks, and I've definitely seen improvement. When he gets out to roll in the grass he isn't coming in suffering like he did before he started taking these. My dog wasn't sure of the flavor right off, but since these crumble easily I was able to mix it with something else and have him take it with no problem. If you mix them into a ball of cream cheese they go down easy! I appreciate that there is no corn in these as that is a frequent problem I've had with many other treats and foods. I have a very lovable and friendly male golden retriever that loves to stop, drop, and roll no matter where he is. This stuff actually works. Both my dogs have allergies and have to get the Cytopoint injections from the vet, for relief. If you have a dog w/ allergies you know these injections are pricey. Got this to try as an alternative to another brand that my dog has been using for quite some time. I like it that this one has Turmeric Root, Grape Seed Extract, Pumpkin Powder, and Bromelain. However, the Quercetin dose is just one fifth, and Fish oil just one quarter of my dog's usual supplement. I guess this one would work for those just starting out on allergy and antioxidant supplements. Sometimes I buy the chewables sometimes I buy this, and now, these are harder to come by due to the pandemic. I seem to have more skin allergic reactions since I contracted Burning Mouth Syndrome. The bottom of my legs will burn and itch and this topical Benadryl cream helps. I have to use a Benadryl mixture to swish and spit in my mouth so I thought topical would work on the legs. Oral Medicine said that with the cancer patients (which I didn't have cancer) Burning Mouth usually lasts for about 5 /- years, so she is expecting it will last that long with me. I don't get mouth blisters anymore with the mouth rinse and the topical Benadryl on the bottom of my legs quiets the raised red areas. The product works great, however read this carefully to determine the quantity to order, the website is misleading. The manufacturer sells the product in 1 gram (small dog), 2 gram (medium dog), and 4 gram (large dog) sizes. Each package contains 3 packets to be given over 3 days. In order to get the correct amount for your dog's weight, you may need to order more than one package. According to the manufacturers instructions, you need to administer one gram of product (daily) for every ten pounds of animal weight. So, up to: 10 lbs = 1 gram; 20 lbs = 2 grams; 30 lbs = 3 grams; 40 lbs = 4 grams; 50 lbs = 5 grams; 60 lbs = 6 grams, etc. So, if your dog weighs 11 to 20 lbs, you need to order a 2 gram (medium dog) size and give him 1 packet per day for 3 days. But if your dog weighs 21-30 lbs, you need to order a 1 gram (small dog) AND a 2 gram (medium dog) package, and give your dog a packet from each size for 3 days. A puppy was pretty much dropped in my lap several days ago, her belly was SO bloated as she hadn't had any vet care prior. Before even getting her home I pondered the wormers at our local Petco, selected this one. On day 3 the worms came out, though her poor bloated belly was reduced after the first day. Will use this again if worming can't wait for the vet. Due to her weight we did have to weigh out the medicine (half a gram ='s 1/4 teaspoon), and you must have an accurate weight on the dog and an accurate measuring device for it to be as effective as it can be without giving too much. I went with the Safeguard brand because I've been using the livestock version for other animals with success. She ate it fine with cooked chicken/broth mixed into her kibble.Mandy R

Each pack 40 pounds. Total 80 pound dog. Sprinkle in with a quarter cup of warm broth, stir well. pour over their dry food and blend in. They won't notice and eat their food. Sneaky but, it works. She was taking apaquil daily and it worked however it’s expensive but not only that taking long term allergy meds can actually put her at higher risk of yeast or other fungal skin infections. My chihuahua Rebel is 13 years old and has been sneezing, scratching and had watery alot lately. I saw this product online when I was buying his water additive and figured I'd give it a try. I was hesitant to try these for my dog Coco but she suffered from itchy skin and intermittent rashes due to seasonal changes. We normally have to do cytopoint injections at the vet but decided to give these a try. In short, they work great! You just need to be patient and give them the appropriate amount per day. It took a month to notice a difference in Cocos skin. It is possible that it won’t work for every dog but i would advise trying it a month or even two before passing judgement. The only thing is my dog does not “enjoy” eating them. I am not sure if there is a way to make them smell and taste better (I assume they don’t taste good because Coco will not eat one unless I appease her with a tasty treat afterward). So the “treat factor” should be improved if that’s a possibility. Sometimes I buy the chewables sometimes I buy this, and now, these are harder to come by due to the pandemic. I grabbed this one because we already ran out of our other bottle before and I wanted to change up the flavor for my son. I trust Benadryl brand, it was given to me when I was younger and I give it to my kids. I have always been given proper dosing instructions by my children's doctors, starting from when they were old enough to take Benadryl. Yes, the brand name is higher, but I feel better knowing that I'm familiar with the company and where it is manufactured. Benadryl is the oldest antihistamine that I'm aware of and it's my go-to/ immediate line of defense when my kids or I are itchy from whatever. I've even used this (yes, I properly calculated bad on my weight) when I had no adult Benadryl around. I just wanna warn y'all, this may at times make you or your child hyper- it doesn't always knock a person out, I learned the hard way lol I just don't know what it will do when I give it to my kids, it's 50/50; but it works and so I'm going to keep using and buying!heather.a
My daughter has anaphylaxis Dairy allergy so Benedryl is a staple in our home. We've grown up with hospital visits, doctors offices, breathing apparatus, special diets….ect….but this particular Benedryl-D has-been another life saver for us. At really high allergy season she uses this to stop the sinus issues….headache and congestion. This is the only product I give her with any decongest ingredient. It absolutely works. If sinus is severe, wait until two full doses (8-10) hours, have been in system. Usually clears up in 1-2 hours. Benedryl has literally helped save my daughter's life. She's 16 now and this product will stay with her forever💜carol.k
Per the recommendation of my son’s pediatrician we picked up Benadryl to have on hand. My son has had allergies to antibiotics and a few foods. I love that Benadryl has dye free options. My son loved the bubblegum flavor and took the medication with no fuss/issue whatsoever. The way the bottle is set up to draw the medicine up and deliver it to your child is perfect, minimizes spills and ensures the proper dosing. My son sees a pediatric allergy dr soon (my boy is 15 months old). Hopefully once we determine his allergies we won’t need to use this medication quite as often, but for now it’s been working great in helping treat his hives and allergy reactions to both foods and environmental triggers. *Note, I’m not a doctor am not giving medical advise about giving or taking medication to your child who may or may not have allergies.
