I purchased the Bark Begone Dog Training tool for a very barky dog we have. (I have three dogs currently) Once Lola gets going, the others will join in. Bought the Bark Begone because one of our neighbor's dogs (1 of 4) would not stop barking when we were in her sight. She would continue to bark without stopping until we would be out of sight but if she heard a noise she would start barking again. I just ordered the bark begone. We have tried EVERYTHING. I have a dachshund and a golden both under 2 years. My dachshund is a compulsive barker, and my golden is jumper and a puller. My dog loves it. She quit eating Wolf King which she was on for 2 years (26 months old). Who ever heard of a Lab that's a fussy eater? She's not even a scrounger let a lone a typical power scrounger Lab which is another first for me! I'm blending the two foods 50/50 to use up the Wolf King. The Barking at the Moon food has 2x the protein and fat and that's WAY TOO MUCH protein unless you want your dogs kidneys to crap out way early in their life. Setting 1 and 2 did not do anything so we turned it up to level 3 and he barked and let out a big Yelp! And was quiet straight away. I have turned it back down to 1 to see if it will do anything and he barked again and let out a big Yelp again. I am not going to turn it up any higher I cannot believe this works!! I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I was skeptical and thought for sure this wouldn't work. I put it on my dog and let him loose in the backyard. Sure enough he barked once and to my surprise, stopped! I purchased the bark collar a few weeks ago now and have found it's worked really well in training our German Shepherd. She's an excited 4yr old who doesn't seem to grow out of the puppy stage! She would bark at birds, people walking past, neighbours in their yards, our cars pulling in….. etc and generally driving everyone crazy. We tried stopping the barking by putting on a bark muzzle each time she barked however you couldn't leave it on when you went out for the day and so it was never consistent. The first week of using the bark collar she seemed abit depressed, not running around like her usual self, now though she's used to it and back to her active self without barking! The only issues we've had is the collar does move, she's a long haired German Shepherd and I feel I have to do the collar up very tight to keep the contact between prongs and skin even though they're the long prongs, the only other issue was once after barking in response to the collar she yelped and it set the bark collar off again and became a cycle of yelping/zapping, fortunately we were able to get to her quickly and take the collar off to stop the cycle because it was horrific when it happened. We haven't had any further occurrences like that though and have continued using the collar. Now even when we have our friends dog over and I take the bark collar off while they play she doesn't bark. I would definitely recommend using a bark collar to train your dog if their a nuisance barker like ours was. This is the one for us… I wish I had purchased the BT-7 BarkCollar BT-7 in the first place! Spending the extra money and doing your research is worth it! Our Labrador is now calm and happy. She only barks to alert us to an intruder or a perceived danger. Prior to purchasing this collar… We noticed a sudden change in her behaviour when we moved house. 5am pedestrians and dog walkers and foxes passing by would set her off and we’d often have to get out of bed to give positive reinforcement or bring her inside. In the beginning, I purchased the Petsafe Basic Bark Control Collar – PBC19-10765. It came with free Replacement Batteries and I purchased an extra pack to save on future postage. Initially, our Labrador responded quickly and barking reduced, however, I don’t believe that was the correct unit for our girl. Her irritability and persistent barking returned to full on annoyance after about four weeks. We replaced the first two complementary batteries, every 4-6 weeks and by August, I purchased 2 replacement Petsafe Red Nylon Straps, as they deteriorate and become too loose. Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. So here is how our experience went….. The device did not activate when my pug barked at all, it did go off however when my bigger dog and any people laughed. With that being said I modified it a tad…. So I covered up the microphone and used it as a manual device only. 2 things happened….. 1 my dogs only needed to hear it a few times 2 I show it to them and that is enough to control their unwanted behavior. It took not even 24 hrs for this thing to put the fear of god in my pups. I can enjoy my time with them and not be constantly redirecting them or trying to stop them from acting up. My husband came home to a quiet house. Does it work, technically, did it work perfectly as intended by the manufacturer, not really. If you use it like I did, you will see results. I've seen handheld devices that do the same thing but are far more expensive. This is cheaper and does the same thing. Now I took the battery out and just tell my pups I'm getting the "no no" and they settle down. This morning they are both lying next to me without fighting or acting up. I've had this for about three months, and it has greatly reduced my dogs barking (which was extremely loud and set off by anything or anyone who passed by outside). Prior to this I tried a bark collar and, for various reasons, it just didn't work for my dog. I am almost afraid I'm jinxing myself by writing this because things have been soo much better. I usually keep it in the kitchen, since this is where my dog is during the day when I am gone. Sometimes I bring it to another room with me, but generally speaking, I don't need to. She knows its around and that alone has reduced the barking. One quirk I will share, so you can just be aware of it, is that I have accidently set it off with dishes. Like when I'm piling dishes together to bring to the sink or the dishwasher and they clank. I realized this because of few times in a row when I was gathering up dishes, my dog was suddenly at my side nudging me and looking sad. That is when I noticed that the red light on the unit had been engaged. So I have a 3 year old wonderful mutt that I rescued at 7 weeks old. She’s spent her entire life living in the same apartment so one might think she was brought up with sounds in the hallway and therefore be use to them but one would be wrong. She loves defending her home from the neighbours coming and going and just living their lives. She also never got use to me leaving her alone and averaged a good 60 to 120 seconds of heartbroken barks after I shut the door. All to the annoyance of my neighbors I’m sure. This is the second collar I've tried . The first one lasted 2 days and worked great , then it wouldn't hold a charge ! So they sent me a knew one ,I plugged it in and followed the directions . Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1
The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. Our dog still can get worked up over something and barks until we intervene with a reprimand. However, this situation is much less frequent, and she calms down faster. Thus is the second one I've gotten. It worked so good that after a few uses all I had to do was hold it up (not turned on) and say "want me to turn it on" and the barking stopped.. then I didn't even have to hold it, I just put my fingers like I was and she would stop.. well, the batteries died and I kept forgetting to get new ones. After a few years of not using it, she started the excessive barking again, I couldn't find it, so I had to buy a new one.. I took it out, turned it on and worked perfectly right away. My other dog doesn't respond to it, but she don't bark much. I only turn it on when the barking is an issue, otherwise its off until its needed. I highly recommend this, but it may take a few times before it works like you want. I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉
Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504
For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet.
