Our dog has suffered from stinky breath forever even though she gets her regular vet cleanings, and we were using another tooth treatment. She’s a beagle / shitzu / pug mix, so she is already genetically doomed in the tooth area anyway, so I’ve always been concerned with her dental health and worried about it leading to other health issues. When I saw this, I was skeptical she wouldn’t notice it in her water. With that beagle nose, she sniffs out even the best tricks I try to pull, but she hasn’t noticed it yet, and the vet recently commented on how amazing we are doing with her teeth. I told her it is simply a matter of adding a cap full of the solution to her water every morning (I keep it by the sink since the bottle is small enough and doesn’t stick out, so I don’t forget.) and trust it is doing its thing. She told us to keep doing what we are doing and said she would check it out. So I have some reservations about this product. If you search other reviews across the internet, you get insane reports about this potentially causing seizures /epileptic episodes, wasting away, eye problems, all kinds of crazy stuff. However, it also does have a fair amount of people preaching that it's legit. The potential side effects are SEVERE, and it doesn't seem like the brand has done much to mitigate those cases or fears?? Knowing all that, I chose to use this for my cat with extreme caution. He gets stinky breath from whenever he eats fish based products (extreme common for cats) but the reason why I'm willing to take any of those risks is because it honestly reminds me of Accutane. I've never had to use Accutane myself, but I know that 1) It's a last resort 2) It is practically guaranteed to work 3) Side effects range from IBS to infertility /severe birth defects. So… my cat's halitosis isn't that severe to illicit the full dose. I use roughly half to a third of the recommended amount in his water fountain (which I highly recommend getting if you don't have one). So at a very low dose, his bad breath has indeed been kept at bay and I monitor his status very closely. This product works, I just strongly recommend using the lowest effective dose (just like with any human medication) and if your pet's breath is so dang stanky you feel like they need the full dose, I highly recommend exhausting all your other options first / supplementing with proper hand toothbrushing / diet changes. For over 2 weeks now, I have just been using the mint toothpaste which is incredibly minty and not sure the dog likes it, however I have been getting her used to having something in her mouth (other than food) and use my finger with some of the paste on it. The finger brush which slips over your finger is cumbersome and awkward to use. The rubber end which cleans the teeth is small and quite neat but the rest of it is too unwieldy to comfortably slide in a mouth which is a bit reluctant to open. The toothbrush seems OK, but haven't really given it a good test yet. Bought this for Marnie and she got a little taste and was sneezing and walked away. She is 3 yrs old and has some bad breath for such a little dog, she refused both brushes and and we could not get either to get near her. The product smells nice and may work for large dogs or our dog may just be scared of everything but i was able to get a small amount on my finger and in her mouth , gum area before she ran off sneezing. My sweetheart Pitt bull has dental problems that absolutely require regular brushing. I’ll admit I was skeptical that my Molly would let me brush her teeth, she doesn’t mind at all! Well this is certainly a new experience for me and the dog! For over 2 weeks now, I have just been using the mint toothpaste which is incredibly minty and not sure the dog likes it, however I have been getting her used to having something in her mouth (other than food) and use my finger with some of the paste on it. I wanted to test the products out before going full out and getting the full sized products and these were perfect. My dog hates the gel for brushing his teeth and refuses to let me do it. Not sure if it's because he hates the taste or if he just doesn't like me being near his teeth. The oral additive seems to work fine though. I have used this product for many years now and find it very effective. I use it for a while until the teeth are plaque-free and then stop it until I see a deterioration again. Still early days, but maybe the tarter that was building on my Border Collie, Heinz and 17 yr old Yorkie, whose teeth are just horrible (I've been afraid to put him under general anesthesia for a deep cleaning for a couple of years) are getting clean!!!!! Okay, so I thought it was a little funny that dogs have small toothbrushes and flavored toothpaste because I’ve never heard of it. But it is amazing. My pup had smoker’s breath. I mean like it was absolutely horrendous. I have been using this product as of recently and love it. He no longer has bad breath and his teeth look so clean. My pup really likes the flavor of the toothpaste and loves getting his teeth brushed. Every time I whip out the toothbrush, he hops around and gets so excited. You do have to slowly train your dog to get them used to the feeling, but they get used to it quickly and learn to love it. Pugs have the same number of teeth as any other dog, except their muzzle is super short, and so all their teeth get mashed together in their stubby muzzles. I am proud to say that none of my dogs have had to have dentals yet, and none have had any teeth pulled! My pugs are age 7, 3, and 3. Certainly by age 7, most dogs will have had a dental, usually due to owners complaining about bad breath. And during the dental, the dog will usually use some teeth. My 7 year old has not needed a dental! Her breath is still fresh, and in addition, she doesn't have the tartar buildup that can so often be seen in dogs over 3 or so. If you want to jeopardize your dog having seizures and kidney failure then use this product. Our 15 year old Dachshund drank this for a month and starting having seizures, muscle weakness, not eating, and the beginning stages of kidney failure. Our dog has suffered from stinky breath forever even though she gets her regular vet cleanings, and we were using another tooth treatment. She’s a beagle / shitzu / pug mix, so she is already genetically doomed in the tooth area anyway, so I’ve always been concerned with her dental health and worried about it leading to other health issues. When I saw this, I was skeptical she wouldn’t notice it in her water. With that beagle nose, she sniffs out even the best tricks I try to pull, but she hasn’t noticed it yet, and the vet recently commented on how amazing we are doing with her teeth. I told her it is simply a matter of adding a cap full of the solution to her water every morning (I keep it by the sink since the bottle is small enough and doesn’t stick out, so I don’t forget.) and trust it is doing its thing. She told us to keep doing what we are doing and said she would check it out. So I have some reservations about this product. If you search other reviews across the internet, you get insane reports about this potentially causing seizures /epileptic episodes, wasting away, eye problems, all kinds of crazy stuff. However, it also does have a fair amount of people preaching that it's legit. The potential side effects are SEVERE, and it doesn't seem like the brand has done much to mitigate those cases or fears?? Knowing all that, I chose to use this for my cat with extreme caution. He gets stinky breath from whenever he eats fish based products (extreme common for cats) but the reason why I'm willing to take any of those risks is because it honestly reminds me of Accutane. I've never had to use Accutane myself, but I know that 1) It's a last resort 2) It is practically guaranteed to work 3) Side effects range from IBS to infertility /severe birth defects. So… my cat's halitosis isn't that severe to illicit the full dose. I use roughly half to a third of the recommended amount in his water fountain (which I highly recommend getting if you don't have one). So at a very low dose, his bad breath has indeed been kept at bay and I monitor his status very closely. This product works, I just strongly recommend using the lowest effective dose (just like with any human medication) and if your pet's breath is so dang stanky you feel like they need the full dose, I highly recommend exhausting all your other options first / supplementing with proper hand toothbrushing / diet changes. I started adding this to all the water bowls in my home just a little over one bottle ago, about two months. It only takes one teaspoon per pint so it lasts a long time. The dose is the same for all pets, so it doesn't matter if the cats drink the dog's water, which is great. None of them seem to notice it or mind it if they do. The price on this site is WAY cheaper than this was at my vet! I am hoping it will help maintain the dental work I'm having done on several of my pets, but it's a bit too soon to tell. One important note is that I was not going to buy this at first as I noticed that it contains xylitol. My family brushes with xylitol toothpaste and hasn't had a cavity in years, but I had learned it can be toxic for pets. I looked into it and the amount they would have to take in would have to be a great deal more than this tiny amount diluted in water, so if that's what's holding you back, check it out for yourself with your pet's dental caregiver. The only thing I don't like is the design of the cap! It drips and wastes product. I got the puppy version of this set, and I absolutely love it! It makes teeth brushing a walk in the park for my pup i. She loves its taste scent.
