Way different than shining a flashlight on the floor (no response), she can't resist trying to follow and pounce on the red dog projected. The range is impressive. I stand on our back porch and our puppy chases the dot around the entire back yard (at night). Inside the house, the dot shows up at any time during day or night. The package included an extra set of batteries (which I simple taped inside the packing and put in my desk to avoid losing them). I’ve tried them on my cats and a German Shepard, and it drives them crazy and not in a good way! The cats whine loudly in aggravation not being able to catch them. Cat books say it stresses them because they’re trying so hard to get it and feel like failures. My dog was so obsessed with finding it he howled for weeks searching the house for it and jumping at each shadow he passed! That was just one day of playing with it! The idea of this zoom rotating cat toy was great. However, after about two days my cat figured it out. Walked right up to it, touched it with her paw, and knocked it over. After that any time we turned it on she would just look at it, not even try to play. I think if the lasers were a little less predictable, and maybe didn't aways do the same pattern she would have kept more interest. This gets 5 stars for concept, but less for execution. My cat just sits and watches the lasers (with interest) but doesn't chase them. When we use a laser pointer we are able to put it on his paw or near him and get him to chase it all over, but he doesn't go after this. Eventually after watching for a bit he just bats the entire thing over. I think it moves the lasers too fast for his liking before he can gear up his wiggle butt to chase them. Unfortunately, there are no settings to change the speed or motion of the lasers. If there were multiple laser options I think this would've been a real hit. I must say I'm disappointed in the Premier Pet zip automatic laser cat toy. I have an older cat that really needs to exercise but when I turned this toy on and placed on the floor he immediately ran away. I also have a pit bull that is almost 2 years old that loves laser lights so I was still somewhat hopeful that we would get some use from this gadget. Much to my disappointment the laser didn't work. The dog did briefly follow it around but lost interest in it fairly quickly. I may have been replaced. A few days ago I was sure that my cats loved me and, if given the choice, would always choose to spend time with me over almost any other activity. Today…I'm a lot less sure, and it's all because of this toy! It is an automatic, almost robotic, laser cat toy that moves across the floor in short spurts, then turns and turns before zipping off in the other direction…all the while shining a laser on the floor behind it. The directions say to put it down on a hard, flat, even floor surface. Okay, our kitchen floor meets that description, so I turned it on and put it down in there. It caught my cats' attention immediately, but they were more afraid of it than anything else. They didn't play, they didn't chase. They mostly just looked at the toy, at each other, and at me in horror. Just as I was starting to mutter and cuss about this 'worthless toy', an accident (or a miracle?) occurred: it scooted into the carpeted living room. GAME CHANGER! I don't know why, but all of a sudden my girls were EXTREMELY interested in their new toy, and they began chasing the red laser. In fact, they seemed to work together at one point, with one cat chasing the laser while the other tried to nibble on the robot toy itself! They definitely had a great time with it, and I had a great time watching them. For future improvements, I think the toy would be more effective (and less annoying to the hoomans) if it were quieter. It is pretty expensive for a cat toy, so I think it's fair to expect high quality features, including quiet operation. I also wish the toy would rest sometimes between its zipping and turning. The way it moves and plays is a bit too rhythmic, but I think my cats would respond to something a little less predictable and maybe even a bit slower. Catarina the house panther loves it. It doesn't do much, just makes a red dot (well, 2 red dots) appear to fly around the house, but the cat is obsessed with it. She's confident that she will catch that red dot one day. It makes a "beep" noise when you turn it on, when she hears that beep from the other side of the house she flies through the house and pounces on it. Sometimes she seems like she gets bored with chasing one red dot, but then out of the corner of her eye she notices the red dot coming from the other side of this toy and her interest is renewed and focused on that other red dot. It keeps her entertained and busy. It takes 3 AA batteries. We have used this quite a bit, I think it runs for about 15 minutes before it shuts off. Overall, the automatic laser is a pretty good buy. My cat definitely enjoys it. Two features I really like are the two laser points and the automatic shut off. The two laser points gives two options for my cat to chase and if she loses one, she can usually find the other no problem. The auto shut off is nice because I can just leave the toy there and know that it won’t stay on for hours after my cat stops using it. It stays on for 15 minutes which is just about the time span of my cat. The only thing I will say is the movement is very predictable. It just moves back and forth in a few set movements. Seeing it capabilities online I was immediately impressed and intrigued with self play and the balls ability to get out from under areas the dog might have trouble with since my girlfriend is in her studies from home and her work is constantly interrupted from our dog whining about a ball trapped under somewhere. Within a week I see cheerble is now advertising a new version of the ball, felt like I missed out on a new improved design but was eager to see what the wicked ball W1 still had to offer. The ball showed up two weeks after and both my pet and I were excited. I got it out of the packaging read the manual and gave it to my French bull dog eager to play. She immediately took to it and could tell she was obsessed. This seemed all too good to be true. And it was…. In less than ten minutes our Frenchie had managed to get the clear plastic ring from the centre apart from the shell and dismantle the shell….maybe I should have got a replacement one but don't believe I should have to pay $10 to give my dog 10minutes of play… That is not sustainable living… Not for us anyways… Perhaps the new design is more durable but after spending $60+ for a ball after tax and shipping that couldn't withstand a 25lb pup I'm not to eager to dish it out again…. I got the shell to my apartment at school so by the time I was able to give it to my dog was about a month after I had received it so I never put in another request for a new one as I had no way to prove that it didn’t work since day 1. I’m hoping I was just unlucky as this was an amazing idea for a product that I loved when it did work, I’m just sad I spent so so much money for it to not work on me twice. I bought this toy for my little french bull dogs first birthday. Seeing it capabilities online I was immediately impressed and intrigued with self play and the balls ability to get out from under areas the dog might have trouble with since my girlfriend is in her studies from home and her work is constantly interrupted from our dog whining about a ball trapped under somewhere. This product seemed to be perfect. I ordered it. Within a week I see cheerble is now advertising a new version of the ball, felt like I missed out on a new improved design but was eager to see what the wicked ball W1 still had to offer. The ball showed up two weeks after and both my pet and I were excited. I got it out of the packaging read the manual and gave it to my French bull dog eager to play. She immediately took to it and could tell she was obsessed. This seemed all too good to be true. And it was…. In less than ten minutes our Frenchie had managed to get the clear plastic ring from the centre apart from the shell and dismantle the shell….maybe I should have got a replacement one but don't believe I should have to pay $10 to give my dog 10minutes of play… That is not sustainable living… Not for us anyways… Perhaps the new design is more durable but after spending $60+ for a ball after tax and shipping that couldn't withstand a 25lb pup I'm not to eager to dish it out again…. This ball was amazing at first. First day I used it my frenchie was obsessed however 10 mins in, I notice a piece was already broken off. Customer support was super nice and sent me a new shell with no problem, however when it arrived and I went to use it again, the shell wouldn’t close fully so it wouldn’t work. Like it was always lose fitting and after 10 seconds of playing, the shell was fully open. I got the shell to my apartment at school so by the time I was able to give it to my dog was about a month after I had received it so I never put in another request for a new one as I had no way to prove that it didn’t work since day 1. I’m hoping I was just unlucky as this was an amazing idea for a product that I loved when it did work, I’m just sad I spent so so much money for it to not work on me twice. When we had just a handheld one, they would cry at our feet to have us play it with them during the work day (my bf and I are both working from home due to the pandemic). I was excited to try the item when I saw it online, since I was looking for a distraction for my cat so I could get out the door without him following me. It worked great the first couple of times I used it. My cat would be tracking the laser and wouldn't notice me slip out the door to run some errands or go to work, but then it just stopped working. I had used brand new batteries when I got it and replaced them when it stopped working just in case something was wrong with them, but the laser just never started back up. Some of the reviews warned this might happen, but I had hoped that wouldn't be the case since there weren't many that seemed to have that problem. With new balls, and a new machine, the product is exactly as advertised. After 10 minutes of fetch, the ball is too wet to throw as expected. The ball gets dirty, and the machine does too, creating a muddy internal process. The balls sent with the machine were subpar quality, and lasted about 25 throws a piece before they were starting to come apart. The machine doesn't adjust for ball sizes, so as a tennis ball wears down, the machine can't grab it, and forget about a tennis ball without it's hairy skin, they are too small by far. It's charging good, and working well if I keep putting new tennis balls in it, and run a towel through it, (although that's hard to do.) I suggest a manual adjustment be added to future products, to change the distance between the wheels that grab the ball. I think a tiny tweak on my machine would allow it to through hard rubber balls that wouldn't get nearly as dirty or wet, and keep the machine cleaner. Overall, I think the product is good, but is flawed in design. If there were just a few more capacities to make it work in the field and with different ball sizes, I think it's be a very strong product.Adam T.

Machine is constantly noisy which my dog does not like. It does not launch the balls very far at all (not even half the length of my yard). The sound it makes before launching a ball which is supposed to be the warning is lower than the sound the machine constantly makes. No timer which would help (just a slow to fast turn dial that doesn't make a huge difference).

The idea of this zoom rotating cat toy was great. However, after about two days my cat figured it out. Walked right up to it, touched it with her paw, and knocked it over. After that any time we turned it on she would just look at it, not even try to play. This gets 5 stars for concept, but less for execution. My cat just sits and watches the lasers (with interest) but doesn't chase them. When we use a laser pointer we are able to put it on his paw or near him and get him to chase it all over, but he doesn't go after this. Eventually after watching for a bit he just bats the entire thing over. I think it moves the lasers too fast for his liking before he can gear up his wiggle butt to chase them. Unfortunately, there are no settings to change the speed or motion of the lasers. If there were multiple laser options I think this would've been a real hit. We've had it on about a dozen times, but I paused writing this review and turned it on one more time, and he still won't chase it. I'm sure this will be great for many, just not for us.mkr213

Unless I hold it like a laser pointer and move it around myself, the laser does not do enough to interest my cats. They end up wrestling with it and then the laser shines into their eyes while they're hugging it and rolling around with it, which causes a safety hazard to them, so it's unfortunately useless in this cat household. My cats love this toy! Within minutes one of them had already figured out bapping it turned on the laser. He'd paw it to start it wobbling then run down the hall so he could get some good speed before crashing into it. It's very sturdy, but too much force will make it fall over – that doesn't seem to bother the cats any. Yes, the battery compartment is screwed together, but it's needed seeing how rough cats will play with it. If you have a small screwdriver, it's easy-peasy and takes 2 AA batteries. The light stays on for around 10 seconds, and is angled properly so it doesn't shine in anyone's eyes.
