Reviews:
Veterinarians are expected to be competent at euthanasia but there are so many different variations with species, different clinical contexts and infectious disease considerations. Its an important topic and it has been addressed sensitively and comprehensively in this review of euthanasia techniques in the light of the AVMA Euthanasia Guidelines. It is very well illustrated and contains comprehensive tables, illustrations and further references – very useful for veterinarians, vet students, nurses and technicians. It covers species that we don't all see every day (dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, rodents, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, snakes, chelonians, horses, sheep, cattle and pigs) and explains in enough detail the important differences when it comes to euthanasia. It keeps the focus on the welfare of the animal, which is where it should be. www.smallanimaltalk.com
3. Vetoryl -5 Mg Capsules For Pets
Product Details:
Specifications:
DAILY DOSAGE | 1 capsule of 10mg daily |
Reviews:
This is a difficult review for me. While Vetoryl helped my dog in the beginning, she developed some of the negative side effects after being on it for just over a year. She became very lethargic and began to collapse in the floor. She was extremely weak. She had lost about 13 pound in 12 months. I immediately took her to the vet. He took her off Vetoryl and put her on Prednisone which she has now been taking for about 3 months. With the Prednisone, she was Immediately more alert, was less lethargic and her strength improved. She has also began to gain some much need weight. I AM NOT saying not to give your dog Vetoryl, I'm saying to closely monitor your dog for any side effect that may develop the longer your dog is on Vetoryl. The problem with monitoring your dog is that the negative symptoms Vetoryl and the symptoms of Cushing's Disease mirror each other. Which makes it more difficult to decide if it's the Vetoryl or Cushing's Disease that is killing your dog. You have to "know your dog". Know what looks right and what does not. If you suspect your dog may be having a reaction to Vetoryl, talk to your vet immediately.TERRY
My old lady hound dog was recently diagnosed with Cushing disease. She will now need meds for the rest of her life. As much as I love my little lady, I cant afford the $100/month it was going to cost me at the vet. I looked high and low for an affordable version of these pill and boy did WAL MART deliver. They have the cheapest price around and I am so glad to know the auto ship option will save me even more money. Now I wont have to worry if I can afford to keep my pet happy and healthy. One less worry!
My dog has Cushing's disease and this was what the doctors recommended. I was reticent to put her on a medicine that she would have to be on the rest of her life, but it has proven that is works. She was continually gaining weight, now she is back closer to what she should weigh. It also helps with the water drinking and urinating. All in all, I have been pleased with how it has improved her daily life.Melissa T

These drops save my cat’s life. I spent thousands on my Persian trying to figure out what was wrong and ultimately ended up being diagnosed with chronic rhinotitus. He had ongoing infections that lasted months and we really thought he was going to have to be put down. I started using these drops and boom within a day, no more nose bleeds or inflammation. He’s been using them consistently for three months. He is back to being a healthy happy boy!KP0905
I was very surprised with how well it worked. My cats nose cleared up quite nicely. I think the taste wasn't so good for her though. Maybe you can figure a way to give it a flavor cat's like. Also, you should make it so we can administer it easier. I had to use a syringe to be able to manage giving it to her. I had to pour some onto a plate and then suck it up through the syringe because the opening was not right.ANNAMARIE PARIS
I turned to this product for my cat after everything else failed. She has a chronic sinus infection that did not respond to multiple rounds of two different antibiotics. She stopped eating and was losing weight. I put drops of this on her food twice a day and she seems to tolerate it. I cannot dose her directly into her mouth, being a cat once was enough and she wriggles free when I try to dose her. She is not cured but is much better and her quality of life is much improved. Thank you.pkeifer10

Reviews:
Our rescue is almost impossible to give anything by mouth when he's anxious; or even when he's not. However, if I give him a treat with a few drops of this on it or on some cheese or something else that he likes, it makes the administering the 'medication' much easier. I've found this to be very effective in a short period of time. He's much calmer. Finally, I've found something to help relieve the stress, not break the bank to buy and it has no adverse side effects. My dog thanks you, Only Natural Pet;….I do too!Rosemary R.
I have an 11 year old Akita that suffers from anxiety due to fireworks, thunder, and just bad weather. He's a little over 120lbs. They drink lot of water so that was the easiest way to administer for us. My husband placed on 2 drops in his water and it worked like a charm last night with New Years eve fireworks. He was pacing, panting, or trying to climb the walls. Love the product highly recommend. I will certainly always have this product on hand.Angel
My 11-yr old gun-shy coonhound is petrified of loud noises, so Independence Day is a challenge. Tried all kinds of "calming chews" in the past. At best, they made him sleepy but still afraid, and at worst they contained brewers' yeast and other apparent allergens that induced ear infections). HomePet Fireworks contains no such allergens, so it was a last resort. I was admittedly late in dosing him (some fireworks had begun, so he had already started trembling and dove down into the basement. Tried to administer directly into his mouth, but wasn't sure how much he ingested since he was already drooling and may have spit some out. So I put drops on his favorite wet food, and he ate it right up. I admit that I may have over dosed him, but knowingly did so because 1) he already had a full stomach, so I worried the effect would take a while; and 2) he was already so scared. He stayed in the basement a little while, then shocked us by coming upstairs to hang out while fireworks continued. We even had some windows open for cool breeze, but the sounds he thinks are gunshots did not cause him to shake and hide anymore. Nor did HomeoPet Fireworks make him drowsy, so the advertising is accurate. We have been watching for any negative effects, but see none. We are pleased with this product. It has apparently been available many years, so I should note that our package states "New & Improved Formula."Leftys person

Reviews:
My dachshund lab mix ( weird I know) started having seizures every 4 weeks or so. They got worse as time went on ( he is almost 3), the vet prescribed seizure medication which he'd have to take " for life" but after reading on it I saw very bad things about the dogs quality of life. After researching I decided to try this first I figured what could it hurt. I give to him in the morning ( 4 drops.. hes 35 pounds) normally between two pieces of cheese because he doesn't like the taste, and 3 drops at night. He has only had 2 seizures since I started this product and his grand mal seizures which lasted over an hour before with violent shakes, defalcating, vomit, and weird body movements, is now just slight panting and last about 1-4 minutes! I also read on the other medication it doesn't stop him from having seizures completely either so I am very happy I don't have to put him on the other stuff. This is a life savor.Erika
STAY AWAY from this product. Like a concerned puppy mother I searched for a holistic approach to treating my dogs epilepsy. For one month all seemed fine. But then it got to the point where he would scream in pain for no reason. His legs became weak and he could no longer jump. He stopped eating and drinking as much. I called the company only to hear there is ETHANOL And A LOT OF IT in this product but it is listed NOWHERE On the product. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. The customer service associate said it so casually as if I should have known because ""it is used in a lot of products these days"". My mouth too, dropped to the floor. Now as a mother of an epileptic dog I am not trying to give my dog GASOLINE In order to cure him. The fact that it isn't listed on the bottle speaks volumes about the company and the casual attitude taken when reporting this made me feel sick. STAY AWAY. Just no.
My twenty year old cat has not had a seizure since we started giving her this medicine! Actually, she has been going outside in the sun and relaxing. She even walks around the house, rather than sitting all day. She is alert and friendly. Before she was having some muscle spasms that you could feel when holding her, these spasms are less frequent. I think this has made her quality of life much better during her final years.roxycatjones

One of my yorkies has pancreatitis and the vet gave her this product to help in preventing vomiting and very loose stool. She does not like it too much but will eat it as I just put the sticky thing in her mouth and she has no choice but eat it. I am very pleased with the overall results.Lucilia S
Hello, I ordered this product for my cat who has had diarrhea for several months following a move to a new home and the stress of a now mobile toddler. The product took a very long time to arrive which is not a huge problem itself, but wish it would have been expressed clearly before ordering. After feeding my cat the 1/2 a pill he threw up about an hour later. I tried once more 8 hours later thinking maybe he just had a hair ball or something and he threw up again. I realize spending $50 on a product that may not work is a risk, and one that I was willing to take. In order to learn more about what happened and ask for advice, I shared my experience in an email to the team (email address I had used before to follow up on arrival date, so I know they received it). See below. I do not understand why they have not replied and it seems they only care about selling their product versus having any interest in my experience with their product or about my cats health. Hello, I was hoping you could help me with some advice about my order. The Pro-Pectalin arrived yesterday and I gave my cat 1/2 a pill (he weights 13lbs), he threw it up with his food about a half hour later. Since I wasn?t sure if it was the probiotics or not I hesitantly tried again 8 hours later, same result. Have you heard of this happening? I?m just so bummed. My cat?s had persistent diarrhea for some time now and read so many good reviews on how this product would help. Not to mention the cost. He did enjoy the taste and gobbled it right down. Thanks for any advice Lisa MullenLisa M
Our German Shepherd dog was stricken with a life threatening systemic fungal infection. After a year of treatment she miraculously survived. However, she is unable to take steroids or other immunosuppressant medications to control her Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She can take Pro-Pectalin on a daily basis to help control her symptoms without dangerous side-effects. It's not 100% effective, but has worked well enough that she has finally put on much needed weight so she looks like a normal dog instead of a starved famine victim. Thank you Pro-Pectalin for helping our dog cope better with her chronic illness!Chrz

Rare original antique print from an 1890s illustrated journal. it depicts views of some of the 17,000 dogs taken in by the temporary home for lost & starving dogs in 1896. between the pictures is a sad article on the "rabies panic" in london that gives stats on the number of dogs in the home. it also mentions how the "lethal chamber and crematorium are running day and night" even though only one was found to have rabies. to their credit, their goal was to find homes for as many dogs as they could in a difficult time. the temporary home for lost & starving dogs is now called the battersea dogs & cats home. it was established in holloway, london in 1860 by mary tealby (1801–1865). the home moved to battersea in 1871. the print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10 x 14.25 inches (25.5 x 36 cm). the pictures fill most of the page with the article measuring about 6 inches. the page is in excellent condition for its age. there is text/photos on the back of the print. see scan for an accurate vi

My dog is barely responding to this. In the beginning she did but I'm wondering if she has built up a tolerance for it. But I don't want to detour anyone, it's unclear why my dog isn't eating. Something is wrong, but not diagnosed. However it is ridiculously expensive for the quantity they dispense and the amount she needs to take. I have to reorder as soon as it ships. Clearly the manufacturer is very proud of their product to charge SO much.Stephanie
This got the greyhound to eating after a bout of canine flu. She had lost so much weight and was very weak from not eating. She is typically an iffy eater. If she over heats (which is almost every day in triple digit NM summers) she stops eating. If she goes two days without eating, she is reluctant to eat even if she feels okay. We have discovered that the right dose for her (@35lb) is to place a finger over the open top of the bottle and tip the bottle over and back upright. The amount remaining on the end of the finger is then rubbed on her lips so she can lick it off. Once is usually enough, sometimes a second similar "dose" is needed. This keeps her from throwing it up and/or foaming. Usually within the hour she will start back eating. If not, she gets a second dose.Galgo Owner

Reviews:
This is like the Bible of grieving books. I own over a dozen books on grieving the loss of a "pet" and this book not only is the most informative and helpful, it delves into the incredibly strong human-animal bond, and why losing them is often harder than losing a family member, which I know only too well. This book is a great comfort to me! This book is helping me through some incredibly intense and painful grief, and I would highly recommend it for those going through the same pain, as well as for the people who may be trying to help them through it- it will help others to understand this very devastating loss that a loved one is going through. This book lets me know that I am not alone, and gives me the tools I need to help me cope with my loss and work my way through it. EXCELLENT Book! Shonna, Nova Scotia, Canadatinderblue13
Beautifully written, covered all the stages of grief with heart felt examples.prism_rainbow
This award winning book is the standard and originally written by Dr. Sife after he lost his beloved pet. It really helps those grieving from a pet loss by helping them understand what they are going through (and how their feelings are normal) and by giving them advice and actions to take to help themselves through the grieving process. The profound impact of pet loss on a person can be much more confusing and more traumatic than ever anticipated. Grief can affect mental and physical health and it is important that one's grief not be suppressed. This book makes you know that you are not alone and gives you hope for the future, whether religious or not. I recommend it highly…it really helped me.pamela_51

Product Details:
Offering a candid behind-the-scenes look at small-animal veterinary practices, blue juice explores the emotional and ethical conflicts involved in providing a "good death" for companion animals. patricia morris presents a nuanced ethnographic account of how veterinarians manage patient care and client relations when their responsibility shifts from saving an animal's life to negotiating a decision to end it. using her own experiences and observations in veterinary settings as well as the voices of seasoned and novice vets, morris reveals how veterinarians think about euthanasia and why this "dirty work" often precipitates "burnout," moral quandaries, and even tense or emotional interactions with clients. closely observing these interactions, morris illuminates the ways in which euthanasia reflects deep and unresolved tension in human-animal relationships. blue juice seeks to understand how practitioners, charged with the difficult task of balancing the interests of animals and their humans, deal with the responsibility of ending their patients' lives.
