I clean my cocker's ears every 7 to 10 days with ear wash and use the non-alcohol canine ear wipes a couple of times a week for maintenance but every few months she'll get stinky, yeasty ears. My vet has prescribed several different treatments but none have worked as well as the Surolan drops. On day 3 she stopped scratching and rubbing them and by day 4 the smell was completely gone. After the 7 day treatment was completed I cleaned them out really good and to my surprise there was very little discharge. Note – Please use 2x/day for 7-full days…don't stop the treatment when there's improvement.

This worked great on my dog's irritated ear. It was a weekend AND a holiday, and my poor little guy was so uncomfortable. I couldn't find an open vet anywhere and the ER was packed. After a little research, I decided on the Zymox and found it at my local Petco, which was not only open, but open all day even though it was a holiday. An old doggo with a history of ear "dirt" that required weekly cleaning, applied these drops for a week and the results were impressive. Using a cotton ball to remove the residue (and icky stuff), and she clearly hears better. It says it will get rid of bacteria, viruses and is antifungal, which sounds like it ought to cover everything. My kitten has that typical dark brown stuff in her ears. It didn't work better than the standard cat ear cleaners. I used it almost daily for two weeks or so. It loosens the gunk so you can wipe it out but doesn't get rid of it at it's source, which is the whole point. There's new dark brown gunk still being made down in her ears daily. She is an inside only cat and we have no other pets. The vet has now prescribed drops that include a steroid. Hope that finally clears it up.tklp
I rescued a dog. He had bad ear mites, took care of those with mineral oil. Took him to a vet and for the same old make money bit, he had an ear infection. So, he got antibiotics orally. I put around 5 drops in each ear, and massaged in for a couple minutes after each application to ensure the liquid spreads. I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. My poodle has a lot of ear hair that needs to be cleaned often. In between baths, the smell can get kinda funky. Used this ear rinse to see if it would help and it does. It keeps the waxy smell away longer but it's not mask any existing smells. It's easy enough to use and my dog doesn't seem to mind it too much. I would definitely keep using this product since it keeps the freshness in between baths and if it helps prevent ear infections. I shared this product with my friend with a lab that loves to swim and gets constant ear infections. Hopefully this will work for her too!Jenn
I was given the opportunity to try the Vetericyn plus antimicrobial ear rinse for free. I did like this product over others I've used in the past. Other products have a smell and my dogs walk around smelling like it after getting their ears cleaned. What I like about Vetericyn Plus is that it has no odor to it so my dogs can have clean ears without smelling like chemicals afterwards. I also like that this product is safe in the case that your pet ingests it. I think it did a great job of cleaning out my dogs ears and I haven't noticed any wax build up yet since the last time I used it. I think this is a good product to try!Jackie
I was given a full size sample of Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Ear Rinse in exchange for my honest review. Regardless of whether I paid for a product or not, I always give my honest feedback. I can say the Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Ear Rinse is great for my 3 adult cats. It doesn't have a harsh smell and it's not bothersome to them. It worked well with cleaning out their ears. Considering I never really paid attention to their ears, they definitely needed a little rinse and this was perfect. I highly recommend this ear wash for any of your furry friends. I definitely will be buying in the future.EricaM

I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I don’t worry about using the hydrocortizone or damage to skin (thickened skin) because it works for so long.Itlookscute
I had used this before, without success for my cocker spaniel. So, this was my 2nd attempt. It worked great in 1 ear, but not the other. I used it for 14 days, and on day 15, the infection was back in the one ear, but gone in the other. Product works great on certain infections, but not for others unfortunately. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. I did a bit of searching and found the Zymox plus advanced formula and figured I'd give that a try before resorting to a vet visit, antibiotics, steroid drops, etc. After the second day of use, she stopped shaking her head, scratching and whining. After the fifth day, all the redness and drainage was gone. I stopped using it on after the seventh day and she has been great ever since. Highly recommend!cathleecollin_0

Douxo keeps dogs & cats ears clean and trouble free when used a few times a month for regular cleansing of the inner ears. Be sure to wear gloves as it can irritate fingernails and surrounding skin. It's also helpful for hot spots and minor skin irritations. However, the dog had a tendency to lick it off her paw and it was marginally effective. We are now using a steroidal spray, which needs a script and is effective ($17).Mattie M.
