Dog Femur Fracture Treatment For Sale (2024 Update)

My Labrador had stitches in her front leg right on the ankle joint so it was at high risk of infection as very close to the bone. I was hoping this would negate the need for the huge buster collar however, she would still lick at it through the sleeve and make it wet therefore increasing the risk of infection to the wound. She therefore still had to wear the buster collar as well as the sleeve to stop her licking it. Within a couple of days, there was a hole in the material of the sleeve and since then, a further tear has developed, so the quality of the material is not that good. She has also worked out how to get her leg out of it so all in all, it hasn’t been that great! That said, I would still recommend using one as it was better than not having the wound covered at all but for me, it didn’t negate the need for a buster collar unfortunately.Julieann

1 Very happy owner and one calm snoring Dog. He`s been at the top of his leg the last few days and licked it raw . No socks long enough and a long sleeved T shirt was not a success . Ordered this sleeve out of desperation . Money well spent ….. came in a flash and as soon as I put it on he seemed really excited and happy, running round barking the way he does before we go a walk. Now he`s sleeping and not looked at his leg once. Its made of a sweatshirt type fabric , the leg size is more important than body girth as there is lots of Velcro and poppers so easy to adjust so it fits comfortably , I`m glad I did not go for the XL as his chest measurement was borderline the L fits perfectly. This item was recommended by a vet as my dog wouldn’t stop licking an open sore. We tried the common collar but she’s just too old for that and it was distressing for us both. My Lurcher Heidi had to have a mammary tumour removed. She was terrified wearing an Elizabethan collar. So I got her a Buster collar but being long nosed Sighthound and with a flexable neck she could reach her stitches. The "Suitical" vest I got her from D forDog was absoulutley amazing. Comfy, stretchy and easy to wash and dry. It covered the area allowing healing . For toileting I just un-did the press studs and took her back legs out of the garment and rolled the Suitical back to her shoulders. Then when she had been to the toileting area I simply rolled it back and put her back legs through and did the garment up. It was similiar to a childs body suit. I can't praise this garment enough. My 10 year old cat was literally dying because she could not eat and was getting too weak to drink. She was getting palliative, hospice type care but I didn't want her to starve to death. I searched for high calorie nutritionally sound feline supplemental food that required the smallest amount to compensate for her lack of eating. I came across this and decided to give it a try. I take care of feral cats and I Trap, Neuter, and Release (TNR) them in order to decrease the cat population in my neighborhood. When spaying a female cat, you have to keep them for at least 4 days for them to appropriately heal and have the affects of the anesthesia to wear off completely. One of the ferals that I trapped was a skin-and-bones female that was really too young to be having the kitten she was towing around with her. So I trapped her and her only surviving female kitten, had them both fixed and proceeded to "Fatten them up" and have them heal completely. "Under the Weather" Ready-Cal was the perfect supplement to give to both mamma and baby while they healed. I kept mamma in my care for one month because she was so pathetically thin. In that month, Mamma's coat changed from a rusty brown to a glossy black. She gained weight to where you could no longer feel her ribs poking through her fur. She did not like indoor life AT ALL and could not be socialized or handled, so she was released back to her outdoor home. I continue to feed Mamma every day, even built her an outdoor heated shelter in my fenced in yard. She is very content now. She now loves people, but cannot be picked up off the ground or lifted, but allows petting and head scratches. As for her kitten, she socialized very well, is awesome at vet visits and handling, and doubled in size very quickly because of the added Ready-Cal supplement and gained weight at a rate of 1lb/month. Her blood work came back from the vet as perfect. She was de-wormed, de-fleaed, and now is added to our family as a "foster-fail" which means that she is just too stinking cute to adopt out, so I kept her as part of our family. Great surgical suit. Good quality material and workmanship plus it looks fabulous! If your dog needs to wear something to stop them interfering with incisions post surgery then this suit works a treat and is much kinder to them than the dreaded cone. Very glad I purchased this. Decent bones for hours of gnawing. Our dogs love them but with one of the two dogs they seem to give him looser stools. They are dry and a little messy till they get the flakes all worked off (licked up). Only knock a star due to those mild reasons, otherwise some of the best bones we've found.Justin KS

I have big dogs that can come to my rescue with badly managed teeth. Give them a pork femur bone (or two) and they bite right in and that tartar is gone. They love to cross their feet, hold the bone and go to town. It gives them plenty of good teeth and gum action and they love them. I don't have small dogs, so can't attest to that, but for the big guys they are miraculous. I had a Greyhound come in from a farm once and her teeth were coated with tartar. She went to work on the bone and the tartar broke off. Didn't have to brush teeth or have a dental done. Love those pork femur bones and buy the singles where the two packs aren't available.bexata

Bad product… purchased three from Tractor Supply in Rock Hill, SC. Within a span of less than 60 minutes all three of my dogs were vomiting, all through out the night and into the morning. I was tired of paying enormous bills at the vet for them to tell me it was a strain. They gave my dog anti-inflammatories and said she should rest for three weeks. He was so crippled in his left rear leg and a friend said a splint might help. Well, I’d never thought of that and the vet had suggested it either. This product is a lifesaver! Tried soo many different things for a skin tag on my pup's back leg. Its just on the other side of his hock, so bandages limited his mobility and he ended up pulling most of them off. He’s 11 and has never had a cone in his life. This is comfortable for him and actually gives him some stability. He has not tried to pull it off once and his skin tag is finally healing. Also, the company emailed me to see how it was working and they offered me a free collar and a super cool leash at half price! 5 stars for the company and the product.JJ

Our 4 year old lab tore his acl and vet recommended 3 weeks of basic crating with pain medications. Tried it for 2 weeks and saw no improvement. I am an orthopedic nurse so I asked about brace and was told not too successful. Easily measured my dog per website / ordered and received in 3 days. Brace has made a huge improvement in our dog. Bone was shipped as described and very quickly, overall customer experience was excellent. However my dog did fracture his tooth on the bone during supervised play. Just be aware of the risks of a chew like this, supervision is a must and even with it accidents can happen. That being said if your dog is comfortable with these types of toys this is a great company to order from with wonderful customer support and incredibly fast shipping. If I were to buy them in the store I would pick out bones that didn't look as if they were peeling but because they were replacement bones (I didn't choose them) for ones purchased in a store that both split straight through after a cleaning they were ok. I appreciated that they were replaced but when I opened the box I thought to myself how long were they in the warehouse. My pitbull mix loves these bones! She is an aggressive chewer and distroys her toys. These really hold up! They don't make her sick like the flavored bones. The large size wasn't available for a while, so I kept using an old one and would put peanut butter on the ends and freeze it for a few hrs before giving it to her. Haven't seen large shards break off. The bone does get gradually smaller over time, which I beleve is normal with all the scraping and gnawing. They are pricey but worth it.Paul M.

I got these chews for my little guy with chronic back and knee pain. He takes a daily dose of Carprofen (doggie ibuprofen) that I would like to get him off of since it is hard on his liver and kidneys. I'm hoping that these joint and hip chews will help make that happen. I like that these chews are made in the USA as at least the ingredients used in pet food products are regulated by the FDA. When you buy pet food products from other countries, it is a crapshoot if what you are buying is even safe for your pet. I also like that this formula is veterinary approved. As for flavor, my dogs will eat them, with caution. I have some aggressive snackers that usually gulp down treats the moment it enters their lips. This chew they actually take time to eat which lends me to believe that they are "on the fence" about the flavor. They are squishy so they are easy to break apart by hand which is convenient. Overall, I would recommend these chews. I am looking forward to using them a while longer to see if my dogs' movement will improve.MamaBear34

I have an elder rescue who's been having issues with joint pain and discomfort. Since she has started taking these chews. She is able to go on walks without limping as much after. Her limp is not gone but improved. She enjoys the extra treats and finds them super tasty. The chews are soft and easy for older pets who may have issues with their teeth. The packaging is nice. I've like that ingredients come from the United States and Canada. My 85 lb. Plot Hound (Buddy) likes the taste of theses chews. I like that all the ingredients aide in hip and joint health. Plot Hounds can suffer from hip dysplasia. Hopefully these will help in the offset of this. He's a active 4 year old and I want him to stay that way. He has no stomach upset or loose bowels. I have given him some other supplements that didn't agree with his system. He moves with vim and vigor!!! Added plus is his coat is nice and shiny.momica

This was prescribed by my vet and after a month and a half, so far so good. I have a 13yr old Aussie female and other than feeling a little pookie on the medication days, she is bouncy as ever. My senior Sheltie has been on a daily regime of the Moderate Care Hip Flex. I praise this product, because not only has this supplement eased the aches and pains of an aging dog, but my dog also really loves the taste. I don't worry about having to dress her meals up, which is a delight. She will eat her supplement with no fuss! Her brewer's yeast always needs fish oil on top, but not her Hip Flex. I have also noticed she is less stiff (this is a year and a half of use). Her limp, which is slight, is unnoticeable most days. My dog was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis, one winter after she slipped on the porch and could not place weight on her hind leg. After trying several times to feed these supplements to my seven year old dog and having him eat his food and leave his Fera chews in the bowl, I tried inserting each pill into a lump of canned dog food then hand feeding it to him. He takes that down in one swallow. The chewy pills (pictured) don't smell bad to me and don't make my dog sick but they must not appeal to him, so I'll feed the remainder of the chews with canned food every other day. My dog is often resistant to anything he's not used to so this may change. If other reviewers say the same about their pet then it must not smell edible to them. As far as any effect of the supplement I'm unable to tell in this short period of time. A maintenance dose is 2 chews every two days for a 60lb. or larger dog. I have only had these for a short time, but wanted to provide my initial take. In comparing the ingredients to a couple of other well known joint supplements, these have a higher concentration of some of the items like MSM and additional items like Turmeric. I like that. The size of these is fairly small, so no issues for a small dog or large. The texture is a little gooey. It is not like a gummy or anything, just very slightly gooey. That is the best way I can describe it. I have 2 mini pins and one took it no issues. The other, that usually eats almost anything, played with it a bit, but did eventually eat it. The following time, he ate it, with only minor hesitation, so he is getting used to the consistency. For the reason above, if your dog doesn't like the flavor you have a bag of bones left over. I was unhappy you could not buy the bones in smaller quantities. I was fortunate after two days of throwing the bone around, my 2 yr. old dog finally started chewing and licking the filling. I have used the Red Bone brand for two years and it is a source of enjoyment for my dog who carries it from room to room. This was my first purchase of lamb flavor. She always returns to the bone to try and complete coaxing all the filling out of the bone. Definitely recommend this brand for any dogs that love to chew for fun and entertainment.CC S.

These bones are irresistible to dogs, from Pomeranians to pit bulls. They can cause doggy drama: be warned. Food aggression may occur. I really can't describe how tantalizing these are. That said, stepping on one is human agony. They are so tough (and long-lasting!) that it feels like you have stepped on a giant pile of legos sharpened to to points. Broken glass is preferable. So give doggy a treat but pick it up afterwards. Also, dogs somehow **** all the "marrow" out. I now fill it with peanut butter. My bones are two years old and still a doggy favorite.Kristen M.

For YEARS I bought these bones habitually for my pups (they would last forever and wouldn’t break off into small pieces)! They had a loyal customer for 10+ years. A few years ago, I bought some that were terrible quality (broke off onto small pieces immediately – I had to pull it away from my dog within minutes) but hoped it was a just a few flukes. I eventually stopped buying them and used kongs instead. Despite many reviews on chewy saying the quality was still down, I decided to try again with my newly adopted dogs. But the quality still isn’t what it used to be. I’m so sad as these used to be amazing but I imagine the supplier changed? What happened? Please bring the durable quality back!Megan R.

My German shepherd is 13 years old and past few years she's had such a hard time with her left leg. It started even given out on her and she would fall, she got to where it was a battle for her to even stand up at times. Completely broke my heart. Well I took her to the vet and they recommended this product highly after finding out she has severe arthritis. Our six-year old, combination golden retriever/black lab was a trooper. Between my wife and me it would put on 5 to 10 miles/day. About a year ago it started developing a limp, which worsened over time until he couldn't run and was reluctant to walk more than a couple of miles. Our vet tried two different anit-inflamatories before discovering it was not his paw but shoulder instability (uneven gap in joint). They couldn't do anything for it, and refered us to a surgeon in the nearest city. She looked at the x-ray and said she couldn't help, and suggested we try the University of MN clinic 5 hours away, saying they "may" be able to do something. Out of desperation, I figured I would try the Glycoflex 3 our vet gave us. After about two weeks the limp was noticeably better, and a little more than 2 months out he's been limp free for the last month. He's back to no limitations on exercising. It's fantastic to know he's no longer in pain, and we have our old Ruckus back. If I were reading this I would think it too good to be true because the science on glucosamine is quite ambiguous in humans. Now I'm all in on this stuff; I just ordered two bottles.borealguy

I received a sample of these Glycoflex plus for cats through the viewpoints sampling program. Prior to receiving these supplements, I was not familiar with the brand or supplements. I have never previously used any kind of supplement for my cat. But I was excited to try these out because my cat Momo is getting older and I liked how the package claimed the promote joint health in cats. I gave Momo the recommended dosage on the package. He seemed to like the taste and ate it with no problem. He begged for more but I gave him only the recommended dosage so they must taste like treats. Momo has been taking them for a few days now so I can't really determine the long term effects of these supplements on his joints but I have not noticed any negative side effects so that's a plus. I will continue to give these to him because my vet said he showed some sensitivity in his joints (probably from being overweight most of his life prior to me adopting him). So I would definitely buy these again if they continue to work so I can keep Momo healthy for as long as possible. I would recommend these to other cat owners and feel like they are great for older cats especially!Jennifer S
